The atmosphere is excellent! I imagined it might be intimidating, but the manager and everyone else are friendly! You can definitely feel that oden is great even on hot days! The quality and quantity of each dish, as well as the Japanese sake served in copper glasses, are all top-notch. Starting with the Gakko cheese is a must!

I was able to go sightseeing in Kyoto. I love the shop in Fukushima and heard that there is one in Kyoto, so I made a reservation. It was relatively empty because it was a weekday. Everything was delicious, and the sukiyaki, a specialty, was irresistible. The alcohol was also tasteful, and it was a cozy and comfortable shop. I will definitely come back!

A renovated old Japanese house turned into a charming restaurant. When you pass by, you'll immediately recognize it. Inside, there's a counter surrounding the kitchen where you can watch the staff at work, which I really enjoy. Their specialty is oden. I recommend trying the daikon radish and round sausage with cabbage (half portion). The oden broth and round sausage go perfectly together! The portion size even for a half order is quite filling, but the delicious broth is so good you'll want to drink it all. I also tried the sashimi and summer vegetables with yuba jelly (half portion). The sashimi was fresh and tasty, perfect with sake. The summer vegetables were refreshing, with okra and corn sweetness complementing the jelly well. I paired my meal with a highball and sake, and the total cost was around 3,500 yen. This place is great for dates or solo dining, with excellent value for money. Highly recommended!

A renovated izakaya located near Gojo Station, just off Gojo Street onto Takakura Street. They specialize in sake and oden, but also offer other carefully selected food and drinks. They even slice locally produced prosciutto on the spot. This restaurant not only has a great atmosphere but also offers excellent quality.

The name "Santoku Rokumi" means "a dish should have three virtues and six flavors," emphasizing the importance of lightness, cleanliness, etiquette, and the six flavors - bitter, sour, sweet, spicy, salty, and astringent - when enjoying sake. I visited this restaurant for the first time. The food was delicious, and I liked the atmosphere of the place. However, after paying the bill, the glasses-wearing staff member said to me, "You didn't seem energetic, are you okay?" I mean, how can you tell if someone is energetic or not on their first visit? Even if it was my second visit, it would still be rude. I was actually feeling fine. I will never go back there.

A staff member I met at the Fukushima store in Osaka was also there, making the conversation lively and enjoyable in Kyoto!
