This time, I visited the restaurant "Aji no Tendo Abura Soba Kyoto Gion Store" where you can eat abura soba in Gion. I tried the Teiban Single 160g for 800 yen. Abura soba is first eaten as it is, then vinegar is added, followed by chili oil and sauce to mix. The chili oil and additional sauce work well together, creating a nice spicy flavor that is incredibly delicious. The chashu is incredibly tasty, with a melt-in-your-mouth tenderness and a rich flavor that is thoroughly infused.

Oil soba that you want to eat in the hot summer ❤️‍【Ajino Toku Kyoto Gion Store】I love ramen, but I also love oil soba. This time, I ordered the signature menu. The Ajino Toku oil soba with medium-thick curly noodles is incredibly chewy, and the special soy sauce-based sauce is so delicious. You can add vinegar or chili oil to change the taste, so you won't get tired of it until the end, and you'll finish it in no time. Toppings include Hachiman green onions, onions, menma, seaweed, and chashu. The flavor of the green onions, the crunchiness of the onions, and the well-marinated chashu were all amazing! Eating a hearty meal in the heat is so delicious, I wonder why. There are many great deals like lunch specials and student discounts, so be sure to check them out!

I visited the restaurant after 12 o'clock. It is located in a mixed-use building near Yasaka Shrine, a little hard to spot but there is a sign with menu photos as a landmark. I sat at the counter and looked at the menu. The recommended dish is the "Special Niboshi Ramen with Large Nameko Mushrooms" (1,000 yen) at the Gion branch. The bowl is topped with nameko mushrooms, chopped green onions, chopped seaweed, and menma, with slices of chashu hidden underneath. The soup is a blend of domestic dried sardines and slightly emulsified pork bone, giving it a rich flavor with the aroma and umami of dried sardines, balanced with the acidity and saltiness of soy sauce. The noodles are curly noodles with a chewy texture and a generous portion. The pork shoulder chashu is thinly sliced with a slightly sweet and well-seasoned taste. The size of the nameko mushrooms is standard but the quantity is plentiful, providing a satisfying eating experience. There is another branch with the same name in Kiyamachi, but it seems to be a franchise with a different owner. The restaurant has separate hours for lunch and late-night service, making it a good option for a meal after drinking.

[SPECIAL DRIED FISH RAMEN] [Noodles] Medium thick curly noodles [Toppings] Sliced pork, large enoki mushrooms (about 10 pieces), chopped green onions, bamboo shoots, chopped seaweed [Soup] Dried fish and pork bone [Preparation Time] 11 minutes The dish had a generous amount of large enoki mushrooms which added a rich flavor. The dried fish and pork bone soup had a good balance of flavors, and the chopped seaweed added a nice touch. The medium curly noodles were chewy and paired well with the soup. The sliced pork was also flavorful. If I had to nitpick, it would be nice to have an option to exclude the large enoki mushrooms to reduce the cost. [Moon-Viewing Grated Yam and Egg Bowl] [Toppings] Grated yam, egg yolk, chopped seaweed [Preparation Time] 13 minutes When you think of moon-viewing grated yam and egg, you expect grated yam topped with egg yolk, but the dish was presented differently with a smashed egg yolk on top of the grated yam and chopped seaweed. The taste was average with a soy sauce flavor, but it could use some wasabi. Also, you're supposed to have a choice between kelp rice or white rice, but they didn't ask for my preference when ordering, so I ended up with white rice. I later realized that the prices on the menu were hard to read, and what I thought was 100 yen turned out to be 700 yen. Looking back, 700 yen for this portion and quality seems a bit expensive. I visited for lunch on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. The restaurant is located near Higashioji Street in Gion, with a sign outside making it easy to find. There were no other customers when I arrived, but I liked the slightly eclectic atmosphere, perfect for a post-drinks meal in Gion. I ordered the regular oil soba. It was quite oily when it arrived, but adding vinegar helped to change the flavor. I also liked that I could customize the taste by adding sesame seeds, although it didn't have a significant impact. I quickly finished my meal and left.
