I chose to hold a girls' night out with former colleagues for the first time in years at "Monakado," a restaurant recommended by a friend just a few minutes' walk from Shijo Kawaramachi. Heading north from Shijo Kawaramachi on the east side, turning right, it's located around the area between Kawaramachi and Kiyamachi. You can choose between counter seats and table seats depending on the situation of the day. Tonight, the three of us had a casual chat while enjoying the following dishes: - Seared pork belly and cartilage (¥450) - Spanish-style omelette with tuna and spinach (¥550) - Firefly squid and rapeseed flower ajillo (¥700) - Homemade smoked assorted platter (¥750) - Fried potato with nagaimo (¥550) - Assorted Kyoto pickles (¥550), Pufferfish skin ponzu (¥480) - Dashimaki tamago (¥520) Drinks (for one person): - Kirin Ichiban Shibori draft beer (¥490) x2 - Highball with White Horse whiskey (¥500) - Ginger highball (¥500) - Strong highball (¥580) I might have had a bit too much to drink tonight compared to usual ^_^ I look forward to relaxing and enjoying the next time at a table seat. I visited without a reservation on a regular day, and the restaurant was quite busy. Every dish was delicious! The grilled pork belly with cartilage was amazing! There were also many unique dishes, so I think you can enjoy them. It's a no-mask shop, so if that concerns you, it's not recommended (there is a sign at the entrance).

It was delicious! We ate a lot, drank moderately, and the total bill for three people was 15,000 yen. The atmosphere was lively with nice orange lighting inside. The staff were all wonderful people! The fondant chocolate cake was twice as hot as I expected. All the sashimi was delicious, incredibly soft like fatty tuna. There were many types of alcohol available, and I had a hard time choosing between them and the non-alcoholic cocktails. This was a farewell party for a friend moving from Kyoto to Hiroshima.

I made a reservation the day before to meet someone in Kawaramachi. The price was average and since I only reserved seats, it cost over 10,000 yen for two people. It seems that drink all-you-can is not available unless you choose a course menu, which would make it cheaper in terms of cost. The atmosphere of the restaurant was good with counter seats, three table seats, and four tatami rooms. The staff's service was good and the menu had a good variety of dishes. I recommend the Chicken Nanban and the Tamagoyaki Ankake. Even on a weekday, it was quite full when I happened to go, so I recommend making a reservation before going. Please consider this review.

Located a 3-4 minute walk from Hankyu Kawaramachi Station, this restaurant is in a great location with many female and young customers. Specialties include Yokowamaguro (tuna), octopus, MoNaka Do's fluffy potato salad, drooling chicken, miso-marinated cheese, MoNaka's famous chicken nanban, fried potato with nagaimo, shrimp and edamame-filled taro dumplings in Kyoto-style sauce, and bonito-flavored soy sauce grilled udon. The menu is diverse, making it a great place to enjoy a meal in a relaxed atmosphere.

Today, I went drinking in Kawaramachi with my gym friends. We went to Monakado on Shijo Kawaramachi, a cozy izakaya hidden on the second floor of a narrow alley off Kawaramachi Street. Despite it being a Wednesday, the place was quite lively. We started off with a toast with beer! We tried the hiziki seaweed and tomato kimchi as our appetizers. The tomato kimchi was a new experience for me, with a nice balance of sweet tomato and tangy kimchi flavors that paired well with the drinks. The chicken nanban, a popular dish at Monakado, was next. It was a generous portion that could easily fill you up with its tangy homemade tartar sauce. We also ordered more drinks and dishes. My friend had the black sugar plum wine, while I enjoyed the sparkling sake Mio. It was easy to drink and went down smoothly. We tried the avocado gratin, served in the avocado skin, which had a creamy texture. Then we indulged in the deep-fried anglerfish, a luxurious winter delicacy. The tender anglerfish meat was full of flavor with each bite. Overall, I found the restaurant to use healthy ingredients and offer unique dishes. It was a fun and delicious experience.

I visited this place once 3 years ago. Recently, I revisited the restaurant after a few years, and I was a bit worried if my taste buds had changed because the food didn't impress me much last time. However, this time it did not disappoint! I made a reservation over the phone for the "Winter Limited Salt Chan Chan Nabe Course" (3800 yen including tax). The course included: - One appetizer - Carpaccio of fresh fish - Fried potato made with nagaimo (Chinese yam) - Salt chan chan nabe (hot pot) - Choice of rice, udon, or Chinese noodles as a finishing dish - Dessert In addition to the course, we also ordered extra items such as blowfish skin ponzu and sashimi of tuna and swordtip squid. The ingredients in the chan chan nabe included clams, pork, and other items not visible in the photo. There was also a separate plate of macaroni. The tsukune (chicken meatballs) were very tender and delicious, I wished I could have eaten more. We chose the Chinese noodles as our finishing dish. I forgot to take a photo, but the thin noodles were easy to eat even when full. The portion size was generous, and we were very satisfied with the meal. The fried food was a bit excessive but delicious, especially the snap pea tempura. The famous chicken karaage was surprisingly tasty. The sashimi platter had thick slices and the beef tendon konjac and eggplant cheese bake was enjoyable. The tea rice soup was quite generous.

I visited early in the evening and sat at the counter, but soon all the other seats were also full, so I realized it's a popular place.

This is a great restaurant located in the Kawaramachi area of Kyoto. The atmosphere is fantastic and the food is delicious, although the space inside is a bit small. I highly recommend this place and would love to visit again when I'm in the Kawaramachi area. It was amazing.
