In Kyoto, at the department store Takashimaya, there is a store called "Fukusaya" where you can buy various souvenirs when visiting tourist spots. The basement floor here has many shops gathered together. I visited to purchase souvenirs of Kyoto's specialties. I found a stylish Castella cake shop and decided to visit. The Cube is a mini-sized Castella cake. There are colorful boxes to choose from. The price is 250 yen plus tax. Now, the Castella cake has a rich sweetness. It's sweet but not too overwhelming, quite delicious. What a delicious Castella cake.

I have been a big fan of the castella here since a long time ago. It has a light texture and melts in your mouth. You can eat a lot of it easily. The best part is the Zalame sugar packed at the bottom. It gives it an even more impressive flavor. This time, I tried the Dutch cake for the first time. The base is cocoa-flavored castella. It is topped with fragrant walnuts and raisins. Two completely different castellas. Which one is more delicious? It's really hard to say. We enjoyed each piece with rich milk. The moist texture and plenty of coarse grains gave a firm bite. It was delicious and easy to eat without being dry, making it appealing to children as well. We enjoyed castella even in the summer.
