Visited for lunch on September 12, 2023, Tuesday. There was one customer when I arrived, and two more arrived by the time I left. I ordered the original ramen with firm noodles and rich broth. I chose thin noodles. It's been a while since I last visited, so I went with my usual order routine. The serving was quick! The wait time for tonkotsu ramen is not long, which is great. The soup was rich and the tonkotsu flavor was on point. The amount of pork fat was just right. The texture of the noodles was good too. Personally, I think this tonkotsu ramen with a twist is quite good. I added a lot of karashi takana for a flavor boost and finished every last drop.

I visited Zundoya at the entrance of Sanjo Pontocho in Kyoto for the first time. I tried the Normal Genmira Ramen for 820 yen. It was said to be a rich tonkotsu broth originating from Himeji, and indeed, the soup was thick and delicious. However, I found that the recommended ultra-thin noodles didn't quite match the rich flavor, and I started to get tired of it. I heard they also have thicker curly noodles, which I thought might be better. If I want tonkotsu broth, there's also an M nearby. It was delicious, but unfortunately, the balance was off.

From the moment I entered the store, I could see that the staff were busy and I had to wait a bit at the entrance before being able to enter. There were only two people working in the kitchen and a new staff member in the dining area, and it felt like they were not able to keep up with the demand. The food tasted delicious as always, but I felt that during busy hours they could use more staff to handle the workload.

My first time at Zundoya. I thought it would be crowded around 1pm, but there was only one group there. No one greeted me when I entered. I sat down at a table by myself. It took quite some time for my order to arrive, even though I only ordered my ramen. The taste was delicious. I had the flavored egg ramen. The thin noodles were also tasty. The fried rice came after I finished eating, but it was delicious. However, I might not go back because of the attitude of the staff.

A new store in Shijo Karasuma, Kyoto, opened at the end of last year. Lunch sets are a good deal until 2 p.m. on weekdays. Complimentary condiments like takana and garlic are available on the table. Coupons are distributed through apps, etc. You can choose the thickness of the noodles (thin straight or medium thick curly) and the amount of back fat. Payment is by cash, PayPay, or LINE Pay only (at the Sanjo store in Kyoto). Within walking distance from Hankyu Kyoto Kawaramachi and Kyoto Shiyakusho-mae subway stations. [Review/Impression] Although Zundoya is not a Kyoto-based ramen shop, I would like to introduce it as a ramen shop in Kyoto! Zundoya is not expanded in Kyushu, Shikoku, Tohoku, Hokkaido, etc., so it may be a good idea to visit when you come to Kyoto. There are six stores in Kyoto, all located along national highways or in the city, making it easy to access and visit! When it comes to tonkotsu ramen chains, names like Ichiran and Ippudo come to mind, but Zundoya offers services like complimentary takana and garlic, coupon distribution, and a wide variety of menu items such as mentaiko rice and "Zuzunba," which are attractive. Expanding rapidly in the Kansai region, this chain store is becoming more and more visible in various places. They serve a typical tonkotsu ramen, but the soup is made rich and thick by adding pork fat. The noodles are thin and straight. The free takana (pickled mustard greens) is particularly delicious, and mixing it with rice and soup is also recommended.

Sanjo Koya-cho is a late-night town in Kyoto, where most people are drunk. In such a night town in Kyoto, what you need is a good bowl of ramen to finish off the night. There are famous ramen shops along the river, but I don't want to wait in line to eat after drinking, it's just too much hassle for me. I remembered that there was a place called Zundoya nearby, so I and three friends made a pit stop there. It was around 2 am on Saturday night, and the place was bustling, but we were able to get in without waiting. The restaurant is spacious with many tables, making it easy to visit even with a few people. It was our first visit with no prior information, but it seems that the main dish here is tonkotsu ramen. After drinking, tonkotsu ramen is the way to go! I can't remember if I ordered the chashu ramen, but I do remember that the tonkotsu flavor was not too strong, and the ramen was mild and delicious. All my friends seemed to be first-timers as well, but we all agreed that it was delicious. The finishing ramen after drinking is truly special, but I personally am not a big fan of some of the famous ramen places in Koya-cho. In comparison, the ramen at this place was not only tasty but the location and service were also excellent. I would like to try it again even when I'm not drinking. Thank you for the meal.

Day two of misses. Negi ramen with rice. Unexpectedly lost two days in a row yesterday. Today, I gathered myself and got off at Sanjo instead of Shijo. I recently went to Kaikiya, Kirameki, and Miyoshi, so I decided to try this place that I haven't been to yet. I could have gone with the regular, but I couldn't resist the allure of the negi, so I went with negi on rice. Topped with seaweed, chashu, and plenty of negi. The thin noodles meant it came out super fast after ordering, probably because there were hardly any other customers. Now, as for the taste... it's a normal tonkotsu ramen on the stronger side. The thin noodles are just right though. It might be good after a night of drinking. Be careful when adding garlic, as it can make it taste bad. Oh, and the rice is dead ⤵️ This is dry and crumbly, almost like fried rice. It makes me wonder if they cooked it today. It's one of the worst-tasting rice dishes I've had in a while. Sorry, rice god. It's going to be tough to finish this. If it weren't for the negi in the ramen, I would have left. The staff here, typical of these chain restaurants, are also lacking in quality... not good. The ramen was decent, but not good enough to make up for the rest. It's more suited for post-drinking cravings for something heavy and flavorful. In that case, I would definitely recommend going to Miyoshi or Daiho Ramen instead. It's all a matter of personal preference. Three strikes in a row!

I visited for lunch on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, and there were a few customers already there. It seemed quite busy. I ordered the original flavor ramen with firm noodles and extra lard. While waiting for my order, they brought pickled vegetables to enjoy. I noticed that they no longer offer the option of straight or wavy noodles like they used to, and there was no sesame on the table anymore. It felt a bit lonely without them. The taste was rich, and adding the pickled vegetables for extra flavor made it delicious. I finished my meal satisfied.

Once again, I tried the rich and flavorful ramen with seasoned egg. It's their most popular dish and it did not disappoint. The portion was just right and the noodles were thin and delicious. The broth was thick and creamy, and the homemade pickles were incredibly tasty. It had a nice level of spiciness, which I imagine would be great on rice or added to other dishes. They also had some items available for takeout, so I'd love to buy some to enjoy at home. They had a variety of menu options, so I'm looking forward to trying something different next time.

I visited this place at night. I had been here a few times before, but this time it had been a while. It was past 10:00 at night and there were no other customers at first, but soon it was almost full. I saw a notice about limited-time menu items, so I ordered one of them. You could choose garlic, vegetables, and back fat, all of which were normal. I also ordered rice. After a short wait, a bowl like the one in the photo was served. The soup was surprisingly clear soy sauce-based, with a slight sweetness. It was more on the light side. The noodles were thick and had a chewy texture, quite filling. The vegetables included bean sprouts, cabbage, with a crunchy texture. The pork was thick, tender, with just the right amount of fat, and went well with the rice. Since the soup was unexpectedly light, I was satisfied after finishing it with the rice. If I have the chance, I would like to try the large size next time.

The most popular Ajitama Ramen. I've always wanted to go there and finally made it! I could choose the type of noodles and soup. It was rich and delicious. The "all toppings" option looked tasty too, but I was getting full. Haha!

I visited after several years and the rich soup was still warm and delicious. The quality hasn't changed. The gyoza was served quickly and it was a perfect meal before going out for drinks. The spacious and clean interior allows for a relaxing dining experience. It's a top-notch ramen shop that also accepts premium meal tickets!

For people who work until the early hours of the morning, having a restaurant open is a blessing. One such place is Zundoya, which has expanded as a chain store. You can customize your ramen to your liking. The fact that you can have unlimited servings of pickled vegetables is great. Be careful though, eating ramen late at night can make you gain weight!

This time, I used it for dinner. I was unsure of what to order, but this time I ordered the "Original Flavor Ramen". Order details: Original Flavor Ramen 820 yen. The Original Flavor Ramen is a pork bone soup with plenty of lard. You can choose between thin noodles and curly noodles, but this time I ordered thin noodles. The ingredients were chashu and seaweed. I added some spicy pickled mustard greens from the table condiments. It had a slightly salty taste, but it was delicious. It's a ramen shop near Sanjo Station.

The shop was open late at night, so I ordered a light Chinese ramen with a seasoned soft-boiled egg. I also got a side dish of simmered chicken skin for a light drinking set. I chose a Asahi Super Dry beer, which I found to be more to my liking than the richer option. The chicken skin was a chewy and tasty snack that went well with the beer. The interior of the shop had a traditional Japanese feel, with old-fashioned furniture like stump-like chairs. This place used to be a liquor store in the past. It was delicious, thank you for the meal.

I visited on January 5, Tuesday. I ordered the original flavor ramen and fried rice. It was incredibly delicious and outstanding. My mouth was filled with happiness. I knew that there was a shop that stayed open until morning, but I didn't have a good impression of it in Himeji. However, since it's ramen, it doesn't matter. I ordered the rich flavored egg ramen and half fried rice. It was delicious! But I don't think older people would be able to handle it (lol). Also, the half fried rice was slightly expensive, and it didn't seem much different in price from the fried rice. Well, I liked the taste, so I think I will go there regularly...

On August 26, 2020, Wednesday, I visited for lunch. It was almost empty, with only a group of 4 sitting at a table. The ramen here is quite to my liking, so today I ordered the classic rich ramen with firm noodles. I think rich flavors like this are delicious on hot days. It feels like what my body needs. I was worried about overeating and affecting my work in the afternoon, so I didn't get an extra serving of noodles and finished my meal.
