The restaurant that used "Kyoto pork" and "Kyotanba Kogen pork" for its samgyeopsal was amazing! There were three types of main samgyeopsal dishes, along with a variety of side dishes such as kimchi, bean sprout namul, natto grilled tofu, and brown rice crepes. The wrap vegetables were all-you-can-eat and the portion sizes were generous. The course started from 3,500 yen with unlimited soft drinks, and for an additional 100 yen, you could have unlimited alcohol - a mysterious but great pricing setup. The staff were also friendly and overall, it was a fantastic find!

The food was incredibly delicious and the cost performance was excellent! We stopped by for dinner during our sightseeing trip from Tokyo to Kyoto. We ordered the Buta Hoshi course. On the teppan grill, there was kimchi and bean sprouts with cheese. There were also three types of sauces and green onions on the side. On the table, there were various side dishes to wrap with the meat, such as sangchu lettuce. The owner explained how to eat while grilling all the meat. In addition to the classic way of eating, we also tried wrapping the meat in crepes made with brown rice, diving the meat into melted cheese with tomato kimchi, and rolling it with black pepper-flavored natto and Korean seaweed. It was all incredibly delicious! We didn't get tired of the three types of meat that were served. The finishing soup was served in a kettle and pot combined, and although you can add noodles, we were too full so we just enjoyed the soup. It was also delicious and we drank it all up. We asked the owner to consider expanding to Tokyo and left, but we will definitely come back when we visit Kyoto again!

On this day, I went out for drinks with colleagues and we decided to go to "Buta Hoshi" in Shijo Kawaramachi to eat samgyeopsal as per a request. The restaurant opened in December 2022 and is located on a side street off Shijo-dori, between Kawaramachi-dori and Kiyamachi, making it easily accessible. Surprisingly, the interior has a high-class feel to it. Despite the casual vibe suggested by the affordable prices and the restaurant name, it actually looks like a nice yakiniku restaurant. The Buta Hoshi course for 3500 yen includes unlimited wrapped vegetables (sanchu lettuce, perilla leaves, and garlic chives). They use Kyoto pork for the three types of samgyeopsal, emphasizing the quality of the meat. There are plenty of Korean side dishes (banchan) to enjoy for flavor variation. The meal also includes soup, and for an additional 100 yen, you can have all-you-can-drink alcohol! The staff explain and assist with grilling and cutting the meat, showing great hospitality. The cost performance is amazing considering everything you get for the price. There are three types of samgyeopsal: fresh, thinly sliced, and marinated. The banchan includes not only the usual grilled kimchi and bean sprouts but also tomato kimchi, salted natto, tofu, pickled radish, pickled and spicy cheese, brown rice crepes, and more! You can customize your meal in various ways, which is fun. I particularly enjoyed the cheese-filled brown rice crepes with samgyeopsal and plenty of garlic chive salad. Of course, it's also great to enjoy it simply with garlic chives, ssamjang, and kimchi. Since you can eat plenty of vegetables with the unlimited wrapped vegetables, you can enjoy guilt-free dining. The drinks kept flowing, and we switched from beer to makgeolli. We indulged in Chorogi salad and tofu stir-fried in pork fat as drinking snacks, which boosted the experience even more. The meal ended with a spicy soup with sari noodles, like a stew. It's spicy but irresistibly delicious. The bill came out to only 3600 yen per person, which is incredibly cost-effective. It was a fantastic dining experience! Highly recommended for a drinking party.

The taste, portion size, and cost performance of the food were excellent, and above all, the staff's attentiveness was wonderful. I have been to several other Samgyupsal restaurants, but personally, this is the only choice for me from now on.

I enjoyed the King's Course. It was very delicious, but the portion was large and I couldn't finish the ramen soup at the end. The pork was fatty, but it was refreshing and had a good texture. It paired well with the sake!

Let's go eat some meat! We went to Buta Hoshi. As we climbed the narrow stairs, we found a hidden gem of a restaurant. The atmosphere was perfect. We ordered the Buta Hoshi course. We wrapped the Samgyupsal in Sangchu and ate it with kimchi, bean sprouts, and green onions. It was delicious, but when we tried wrapping it with natto, it was surprisingly tasty! For the final soup dish, they added ramen noodles. It was so delicious and satisfying! It was reasonably priced, and I can't wait to go back. I feel like telling everyone about this place!
