To start off, I decided to buy some souvenirs before heading back. I visited a shop called "Cannele Specialty Store boB," located about a 2-minute walk east from exit 5 of Meiji-jingumae Station on the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line and Fukutoshin Line. This shop specializes in half-baked canneles and was opened in April 2021 by Chef Moriwaki from the Italian restaurant "boB the garden Ginza (formerly AURUM+truffle)" in Ginza, where the half-baked cannele originated. I visited this shop to buy souvenirs for a friend who loves canneles. In addition to traditional canneles, they offer over 8 varieties of half-baked canneles that incorporate seasonal fruits, meats, vegetables, and other ingredients, attracting cannele enthusiasts. The shop is a small space with only a sales area, and since there were already customers ahead of me, I waited outside before entering. The display shelf at the store had canneles, and I chose the items to take home. I ordered gifts and personal treats, and the items I bought this time were as follows:・Wagyu Roast Beef ×1・Truffle Cannele ×1・Whole Large Chestnut Cannele ×3・Peach and Earl Grey Cannele ×2・Plain Cannele ×1・Coffee Cannele ×1・Spice and Orange Cannele ×1・Raspberry and Cocoa Cannele ×1I brought them home immediately.※I will only review the canneles I tried myself.●Truffle CanneleThis cannele is made by kneading summer truffle from Tuscany into the dough and adding white truffle oil for flavor. It also includes Hokkaido cream cheese in the dough, resulting in a crispy exterior and a smooth, melty interior. The rich truffle flavor and refreshing cream cheese blend well, creating a delicious cannele.●Wagyu Roast BeefThis cannele is cut in half and filled with roast beef made from Wagyu beef thigh meat, combined with salted kelp sauce. It inherits the concept of deli-style muffins that have been increasing in popularity. The cannele has a crispy exterior and a smooth interior like other products, and the juicy roast beef pairs well with it. The salted kelp flavor enhances the depth of the cannele's flavor.●Whole Large Chestnut CanneleThis cannele wraps a whole candied chestnut in the center. It maintains the texture of a half-baked cannele, with a strong flavor and richness from butter and rum, resulting in a very delicious cannele. Canneles are widely available in bakeries and sweet shops, but there aren't many options in terms of variety. In that sense, this shop introduces a new aspect of canneles. As depicted in the shop's logo, the cute canneles resemble flowers, and having all varieties creates a bouquet-like visual. Not having tried the plain cannele, it may have a slightly different atmosphere from the traditional cannele. However, I think the unique aspect of the half-baked cannele as a product is not bad.
