I visited the creative bistro Jijibaba Mokatei for dinner after a long time. The piping hot chili sauce simmered beef tendons go well with baguette. The fresh octopus carpaccio with plenty of olive oil also pairs nicely with baguette. The hot mapo tofu is absolutely delicious! The Gorgonzola potato salad that my wife loves is also enjoyed with baguette. After a draft beer, I had a glass of white wine. I enjoyed the meal very much with a full stomach.

This was my first visit for lunch. Lately, it's been really difficult to find a place to eat around Karasuma Oike! Many restaurants have raised their prices or closed down, so it feels like everyone is fighting for the remaining seats. I was craving pasta on this day and was struggling to decide where to go when I remembered this place. It has the best cost performance and serving time in this area. And the taste was surprisingly delicious! It was the best Neapolitan I've had recently. The pasta was chewy, and the seasoning was just right, not too strong. It was really delicious. I wanted to go back the next day.

I entered the restaurant around 11:45 on a regular Wednesday. It was about 70% full before lunchtime. More customers came in later, so it looks like it will be packed during lunchtime. They have counter seats, so it's safe to dine alone. It's a food ticket style. I ordered the set of Napolitan and mini dry curry. It's great that you can enjoy two signature dishes in one set. The Napolitan is a classic type with chewy noodles that are delicious! The dry curry is properly spicy and tasty!

Today, during my commute to work, I had lunch at "Jijibaba Mokuba-tei" in Karasuma Oike. I had a sudden craving for their Napolitan dish. I arrived right when they opened for lunch, so I was the first customer. Even though I was dining alone, I was seated at a spacious table instead of the counter. I felt like I got lucky. I ordered the Napolitan with a large salad set for 1120 yen. I didn't go for the extra-large size, so I'm giving myself credit for that. Having a salad with it makes me feel like I'm being healthy. The rich ketchup sauce only increased my appetite. In other words, it's addictive. The chewy texture of the pasta feels great too! As always, it was delicious. I spent 15 minutes there. It was a good lunchtime.

I worked relatively hard until 4 pm and felt tired, so I decided to look for a cafe or an early dinner place. I found this place in Karasuma Oike with relatively high ratings. Honestly, the exterior of the restaurant was not very fancy, so I hesitated to go in. But since I had a reservation for 5 pm, I decided to go in. Inside, it was messy with a striking wooden horse sculpture. I wonder if the owner likes horses? I ordered octopus carpaccio and Gorgonzola potato salad as appetizers, accompanied by white wine for the former and red wine for the latter. The Gorgonzola potato salad was delicious, outstanding, I loved it. Next, the octopus carpaccio soaked in plenty of olive oil was also tasty. I made a bruschetta by putting tomatoes, onions, octopus, and olive oil on a baguette. The popular braised beef tendon had a hint of star anise in the demi-glace sauce, very fragrant. I also ordered avocado with chili oil, which was a great addition. The chef here is skilled in using oil and spices, and they kindly offer half-sized portions of the delicious dishes. I am impressed, and I would like to try the deer cutlet and Neapolitan next time.

I visited the restaurant on a weekday night in March 2023. They have counter seats, so it's easy to use. It was nice to see the cooking process from the seat. Orders were made through a QR code. The water comes with a large ice cube like in whiskey. I had a glass of red wine (680 yen excluding tax) from Chile, a Merlot. It had more than I expected, which made me happy. I also had a half-size Italian Gorgonzola potato salad (480 yen) which had a rich Gorgonzola flavor. It was great that they offer a half size. I ordered the full-size Napolitan (880 yen) which was quite generous. The noodles were a bit thin but chewy. The tomato sauce was easy to eat with a mild acidity. The "Wooden Horse Course" for 2400 yen is a great deal, but unfortunately, I don't like game meat.

The octopus carpaccio is generous with olive oil. The tomatoes are sweet and the onions are spicy. It's a classic but delicious dish. The Neapolitan pasta is in a half-size portion and quite filling. I waited about 30 minutes after finishing the carpaccio, but the noodles were chewy and quite tasty. The bacon is large and the noodles are thick, so it seems tough to finish if you come when you're already full. Be careful not to order too much.

In February 2023, I had a sudden trip to Osaka via Kyoto for one night and two days. After finishing my business in Osaka, I visited "Tofuku-ji" in Kyoto. Here are some photos of Tofuku-ji. For lunch, I requested the following dishes at a restaurant: "Napolitan (large) salad set for 1,120 yen including tax" and "Dry curry (medium) salad set for 970 yen including tax." I also ordered dry curry for my companion as per my request. The Napolitan had thin and chewy noodles with a rich and cheesy flavor. You can order the amount of cheese you prefer when you place your order. The dry curry was mildly spicy by default, and the rice was slightly soft, which may not suit everyone's preference. Overall, the dishes were tasty, but there were some minor points that could be improved, such as the texture of the rice in the dry curry.

I visited the restaurant for lunch alone. I arrived before 12 o'clock, so there was only one other group of customers. After that, more customers arrived in quick succession. I ordered the large portion of Napolitan. It was the most delicious Napolitan I have ever had. I actually didn't like Napolitan before (so why did you order it? Let's leave that aside for now). But the Napolitan here was really delicious!! I made a mistake by overlooking the mini dry curry set. The dry curry also looked delicious♪

Umaimiki-tei in Karasuma Oike. This day was a work-related drinking party. The venue was "Umaimiki-tei" located a 5-minute walk from Karasuma Station. I didn't choose it myself, but I happened to have lunch alone there just 10 days ago, so it felt like a short reunion by chance. I feel fate. I entered the restaurant right at the start of the 5 pm dinner time, so it was like a private reservation. I couldn't take photos properly at lunch, but this time I could take as many as I wanted. In the center, there is a large wooden horse object, as the name of the restaurant suggests. The interior is styled like a French brasserie. First, cheers with craft beer "Nishijin Beer" (880 yen per bottle): - Silky Weizen - Yuzu Mugai - Byakuya Lemon Ale Unique but easy to drink. I ended up completing all three varieties unintentionally. The popular menu course is 2600 yen and can be ordered for 4 people or more. Uzumaru Oike "Jijibaba Mokuba-tei" I had some work errands in the Uzumaru Oike area on this day. Before my errands, I decided to have a quick lunch by myself. Just a 1-minute walk from Uzumaru Oike Station, I went to "Jijibaba Mokuba-tei," a part of the "Jijibaba" group which has 4 branches in Kyoto. The place was bustling with customers getting takeout lunches, so I bought my meal ticket from the ticket machine near the entrance and took a seat. There were table seats available, but as a solo diner, I sat at the counter. The atmosphere was nice, with a bistro vibe for evening meals, which would be great for a date. But on this day, it was just me for lunch. I ordered the Mini Dry Curry and Napoli-tan set for 1230 yen. I had heard that the Napoli-tan was especially delicious, so I was already looking forward to it before arriving at the restaurant. The Dry Curry was just the right size and had a slightly spicy kick with crunchy vegetables. It was quite addictive. And then, the Napoli-tan I had been anticipating! I chose the large size since you could choose between regular and large. This wasn't just your typical ketchup-dressed Napoli-tan from a regular café; it was well-cooked to give a nice toasty flavor. The sweet ketchup with melted powdered cheese was rich and coated the chewy pasta well. Have you ever had Napoli-tan that tasted this good? I have. I finished the carb festival with the Dry Curry and Napoli-tan, feeling very full and satisfied.

A reasonably priced yet delicious izakaya. You can make reservations through Tabelog. I read a review saying the Napolitan is delicious, so I made a reservation. The mapo tofu is also popular, so I ordered that too. Both were incredibly delicious, especially the Napolitan with plenty of ketchup, a rich and satisfying dish. I really liked it.

It wasn't spicy but had a rich flavor. From appetizers to main dishes, their cheese dishes were all delicious! A follower recommended this restaurant, which is easy for solo diners to enter and has a memorable name. It is like a branch of a shop located near Kyoto Station. As big fans of game meat, we were looking forward to trying the venison from Tamba Sasayama that they offer. We ordered the Avocado with homemade chili oil, which was surprisingly delicious. The combination of avocado and chili oil worked well together. The beef tendon in chili sauce stew with bread was also tasty and easy to eat. The fried gizzard was interesting in texture and had a unique deliciousness. Unfortunately, the roasted venison was sold out when we arrived at 6 pm, so we tried the garlic grilled venison instead. It didn't have any strange flavors but still had the distinct taste of venison. Overall, the dishes were all delicious and reasonably priced. The restaurant's recommendation is the Napolitan, and we look forward to trying more dishes on our next visit, aiming for the roasted venison. It was a delightful dining experience. I visited around 7:00 PM on Friday. There were about 4 customers already there. I tried the summer limited dish, chilled tantanmen (spaghetti) for 850 yen. The tantan soup was creamy and gentle with white sesame flavor. The noodles were spaghetti, which made me happy as I love pasta. I got to sit at a table where I could see the wooden horse directly in front of me.

I was able to sit at a seat with a view of the wooden horse. - Negitoro fresh spring rolls for 780 yen: The cream cheese and pickled radish worked well together! A wonderful combination of flavors. - Tottori-produced Oyama chicken Karaage (3 pieces) for 480 yen: They served three large pieces of Karaage, each cut into two, so it felt like I was eating six pieces of Karaage in total.
