I visited the beloved restaurant Mutekike Ramen Nikutama, located a 4-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station East Exit in Tokyo. It has been over 20 years since I started coming here, and this visit marks my return after 3 years. I arrived at 4pm and was able to enter smoothly without having to wait in line, although most of the seats inside were already taken. Before the pandemic, there was always a line no matter what time you came. I ordered the Nikutama Ramen for 1280 yen, which came with thickly sliced grilled chashu pork, seasoned egg, 2 sheets of seaweed, black sesame stir-fried bamboo shoots, nanohana (rapeseed flowers), and green onions. The creamy tonkotsu broth is my personal favorite, and the thick grilled chashu pork slices were incredibly tender and delicious. I paired my meal with a refreshing jasmine tea over ice, which helped cleanse my palate between bites. I opted for the large size, and managed to finish every last drop. Although the prices had increased by about 100 yen since my last visit, I was still satisfied. Thank you for another delicious meal today!

Visited the invincible family shop in Ikebukuro and chose the classic Honmaru-X (1100 yen). The firm medium noodles and gentle pork bone soy sauce soup are distinctive. The richness of the pork and the moderately melted lard are incredibly delicious, and I ended up drinking the soup completely, which I haven't done in a while. The thick chashu is melt-in-your-mouth type.

- It's not too heavy, but it's heavy and delicious like ramen, with a strong punch.
- Lots of ingredients. The chashu is big and delicious. So happy.
- There's always a line, so be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes. It's recommended to stagger your meal times.

Average. Nothing special. Maybe it's because I waited in a pretty long line... The ramen with extra spicy green onions was around 1400 yen. The staff were working hard, and there were menus written in various languages, with many foreigners in line.

I have always wanted to try Mutekike, and finally visited the restaurant. I went for a late lunch hoping it would be less crowded, but there was still a long line. I decided to try the popular Honmaru X instead of the recommended Nikudama Mutekike. I ordered a large serving of noodles with extra pork and also added Aomori garlic for an extra charge. The dish arrived quickly and the thick slices of roasted pork were delicious. The noodles were my favorite type, thick and firm, and the rich, creamy soup paired perfectly with them. The soft-boiled egg was just right, and overall it was a satisfying meal. Although I noticed that the restaurant no longer had the Mutekike logo on the seaweed, the experience was still excellent. The staff were efficient and friendly. Thank you for the meal!

Unfortunately, it's not invincible. Everything is over 1000 yen. It seems like they have shifted their focus to foreign customers. As for the taste, honestly, it may not be the best anymore. In the past, there were few places offering this kind of taste, so even if the prices were higher, it was worth it. However, now that these flavors are becoming more common, I don't think it deserves to be put on a pedestal. It might be difficult for me to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

Every time I go to Ikebukuro, there is always a long line, so I always give up, but today I had time so I lined up and tried it. Hmm, 20 years ago when I tried it, I was impressed, but this time, there was none of that. To be honest, I'll write it honestly, I'm sorry. Upon reflection, perhaps over time, other restaurants have started to mimic this taste. It has become a taste that you can find anywhere. There was a shop that had noodles that felt exactly the same. I confidently recommended it to my wife and lined up together, but it was disappointing. Maybe it's because I've gotten older. The char siu also had a slight smell that bothered me. The atmosphere in the restaurant and the service, including waiting in line and seating, were all handled by Asian foreigners, but they were very kind. The jasmine was good too, and the spicy pickled vegetables and fish powder were good for changing the taste.

Ikebukuro, Mutekia. It's been over 20 years since I last came here. I've conquered many popular restaurants with long lines, but this one is a top mystery. Now it's full of foreigners. Maybe it's in a guidebook or something. The situation around here seems to have changed in the past 20 years. In any case, the long line is a mystery. Now for the main dish - X for 1000 yen. It seems to be a classic. Pork bone soy sauce, with unique bamboo shoots as toppings. The chashu is divided into tender parts and fatty parts. The noodles are medium thickness. The mystery continues. Thank you for the meal.

Ikebukuro's Mutekia is a popular ramen shop known for its tonkotsu shoyu ramen. The spacious interior has counter and table seating. There is usually a line, but the turnover is good so the wait time is relatively short. I ordered the signature dish, "Honmaru-X", which comes with 6 thick slices of chashu, making it a hearty ramen. The soup has a well-balanced flavor of tonkotsu richness and soy sauce, very delicious. The chashu is tender and juicy, couldn't stop eating it. The noodles are thin straight noodles that mix well with the soup. Overall, a very satisfying ramen. I would definitely want to go back. Some drawbacks include the slightly cramped space when it's crowded. Overall, highly recommended ramen shop. If you're in Ikebukuro, be sure to visit.

It is a shop where usually 20 people line up, but on this day, due to bad weather and the time being around 3pm, there were only 2-3 people in line so I decided to eat there. The staff were friendly and had a good energy. I wasn't sure what to order, so I went with the safe option of ordering the "all toppings" ramen. The soup was very rich and coated the thick noodles well, satisfying even those with a big appetite. The half-boiled egg was cooked perfectly. There were various toppings available such as garlic, but I'll save trying them for my next visit.

Recently, I've been really into trying different family-style ramen shops and researching their origins. There are many ramen shops around my new workplace in Ikebukuro, and when I searched for "Ikebukuro family-style ramen," this particular shop seemed to be the most popular. On a Friday night around 9 pm, there was a line of about 30 people. About 90% of the people waiting were tourists from overseas. As the salarymen passing by commented, "I wonder why there's such a long line. It's not even that good." Feeling a bit anxious, I decided to try it out and ordered the "Honmaru X." After tasting it, I understood why. This ramen shop wasn't actually a family-style one, but rather had a taste similar to a popular ramen chain in Holland that tourists love. I realized my mistake in not researching properly (laughs).

I used to live near the store and often visited it. The taste was good this time too, but I felt it was better in the past because I didn't put garlic in it this time (I always used to). I recommend dipping the toppings of char siu and nanohana in the soup and eating them! It's also nice that jasmine tea is free!

On weekends, there is always a long line in front of the store. I happened to pass by on a weekday around 2 pm and there were only 7-8 people in line, so I joined at the end. I had eaten a hot dog at noon, so I wish I had saved my appetite. While waiting in line, a staff member came with the menu and I couldn't decide what to order. Eventually, I ordered the "Hommaru-X" from the Pork Broth Soy Sauce Standard menu and added garlic. After about 5 minutes, the ramen was served. The soup was delicious, and the person next to me also quietly said "delicious" while eating. The noodles and toppings were great, but what stood out the most was the tenderness of the chashu... it was amazingly good. The garlic was also fantastic! I ate about half, then added spicy mustard greens and blended fish powder for a flavor change. Especially adding mustard greens made the flavor richer, so I recommend it. The restaurant had many foreign customers, so it must be a famous place even overseas. I finished the ramen in no time. I now understand why Mutekia is always crowded!! Thank you for the meal!

I arrived at around 5 o'clock. I usually have the image of waiting in line outside, but this time it was not crowded and I could enter smoothly. I ordered the Main Castle X (1000 yen). Although it has a name that sounds like a traditional family-style ramen, it seems to be different. The soup was delicious and had a taste that becomes addictive if you keep drinking it. The chashu was soft and tender. There were many foreign customers. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Mutekia Ramen at 10:05 am on Saturday and lined up as the 5th person. I ordered the Nikutama ramen, which can only be paid for in cash. The restaurant opened on time and quickly became full. On the table, there were soy sauce, vinegar, chili oil, pepper, kaeshi (seasoning sauce), fish powder, spicy pickled mustard greens, and jasmine tea powder. The medium-thin noodles paired well with the rich pork bone soy sauce soup and were delicious. The thick chashu also stood out and did not disappoint in the flavorful soup. You can get extra noodles, but it takes a while to come out, so I recommend ordering the large portion from the start.

Ordered item... Hontei X for 1000 yen
Dish... The pork bone broth ramen with pork fat is authentic even though it's a chain restaurant. The rich pork bone and fat fill you up. Some versions even come with seaweed on top. It's nice that they're open late into the night. Tried the Tokyo-style pork bone ramen after a long time. Mmm, delicious.

"Mutekiya" is located near Ikebukuro Station, and I visited during lunchtime in the summer vacation. I ordered the ramen with white negi topping and waited in line for about 30 minutes in the heat, but the taste was excellent. The interior of the restaurant had a nice cleanliness to it, and the free jasmine tea was delicious. This bowl of ramen is perfect for this season. For those looking for delicious ramen in the local Ikebukuro area, this is definitely a recommended restaurant.

I finally visited the restaurant that always had a long line outside and caught my attention. I ordered the main dish X with the optional spicy green onions. The spicy green onions were generously served on a small plate, which felt like a good deal! The ramen had thick, firm noodles and was delicious. The best part was the tender chashu, which I think was the most delicious I've ever had. Each person had a variety of condiments placed in front of them, allowing us to enjoy until the very end! For those who like spicy food, I highly recommend the extremely spicy pickled vegetables. Definitely give it a try!

It was a rare short line, so I visited after a long time (couldn't sit next to my friend and sat at a separate table). I had the mixed noodles (medium size) which was very filling even though I didn't choose the large size. It had plenty of ingredients, and the broth and seasonings allowed for enjoyable flavor variations. It wasn't too heavy, which was nice.

The restaurant is very popular, with a line forming before opening. They offer a multilingual menu. The noodles were delicious, and the braised meat was also tasty. The seaweed even had characters written on it, perfect for taking photos. Adding garlic enhances the flavor.

Mutekiya Ikebukuro, the invincible ramen spot: 3.64 rating
Located a 5-minute walk from Ikebukuro Station East Exit, this place always has a long line. Despite the scorching heat, people are willing to wait for their turn because the ramen here is just that good. The staff even hands out fans to those waiting outside. The restaurant has only 17 counter seats, but the turnover is quick. Their signature ramen is a rich and flavorful pork broth soy sauce ramen, and it's a must to order extra rice with it. I've been here multiple times and would prefer to avoid the line on cooler days. #IkebukuroRamen #IkebukuroGourmet #IkebukuroLunch #Mutekiya #RamenHunting #RamenLovers #RamenMania #RamenClub #TonkotsuRamen #FoodieAdventures #FoodieGirls #FoodieLovers #FoodieClub #DeliciousFoodHunting #TokyoGourmet
