三つ子のうりぼう
I originally really liked the Mexican restaurant in Shinagawa, and I used to go there regularly, but I visited the Daikanyama branch for the first time last time and it was really great, so I made a reservation to go there again this time. It was surprisingly crowded in the early evening due to the long weekend. This restaurant is operated by HUGE, known for its Rigoret Kitchen, and I also like the Spanish restaurant in Shibuya Scramble Square, where the interior is stylish, the menu is extensive, the food is delicious at a reasonable price, and the staff are polite and well-trained. However, the seat this time was not as good as the spacious and comfortable seat by the window with a great view that I had last time. It was a bit disappointing as it was near the restroom with a lot of people coming and going, and it was not by the window, so the seating was not ideal.
On this day, I ordered the following:
1. Guacamole Fresco: Whenever I come to this Mexican restaurant, I always order this first, whether it's at the Shinagawa branch or here. They let you choose the avocado and make the guacamole right in front of you, so it's super delicious and fresh. It's great to dip the crispy tortilla chips in the fresh guacamole as a snack.
2. Chili Con Carne: My husband loves this, so I always order it every time, whether it's at the Shinagawa branch or here. I didn't used to like this kind of dish, but the seasoning here is excellent and easy to eat, so I've come to appreciate chili con carne. It's nice that it's topped with plenty of cheese and cilantro.
3. Red Snow Crab Tostada: It was a tostada with red snow crab and chopped vegetables mixed with Western-style wasabi mayonnaise, with a crunchy texture and a refreshing but slightly spicy aftertaste. However, it was a bit different from the picture in the menu, which was a bit disappointing (this is just my personal opinion).
4. Queso Fundido: I was intrigued by the name "Mexican Cheese Fondue" and the catchphrase "We pour hot cheese sauce over chorizo and vegetables in front of you to finish it!" so I ordered it for the first time. Personally, the cheese felt a bit loose for a Mexican cheese fondue, and although the taste was delicious, it was a bit difficult to eat with the tortilla because the cheese sauce was loose. Also, I wish there was more chorizo in it.
As for the recommended drinks, the drink menu at this restaurant is very extensive, so it's fun to decide what to drink. I'm not very good with alcohol, but the mango mojito that I drank and enjoyed last time was really delicious this time too! It was full of mint and strong carbonation, with mango fruit floating on top, sweet and thick but surprisingly refreshing, so I ended up drinking it quickly.
The order on this day was a bit challenging as we ordered some things we had never tried before, so I slightly regretted not ordering the Tacos Emperador (highly recommended! It's fun to roll up various ingredients and eat them yourself) or the Beef Fajitas with beef harami steak that looked really delicious that the nearby table was having.
This restaurant has a fantastic location on the 9th floor of a beautiful building close to Daikanyama Station, with a great view of Tokyo Tower and the city skyline, as there are few tall buildings around. The interior is also like a stylish restaurant overseas (like a stylish Mexican restaurant in a hotel in Hawaii), so it's especially recommended for dates or girls' nights out.
