The set of top-class pot rice, grilled chicken skewers, and rolled omelette is a nostalgic taste that my parents have been visiting since the Showa era. The thick rolled omelette, with just the right amount of firmness and flavor, brings back memories of that time. The grilled chicken skewers seem to have evolved in terms of seasoning and grilling. Maybe the chicken meat has changed, or the grilling technique has been updated? And then, I enjoy the top-class pot rice. It would be perfect if there were a little more burnt rice at the bottom. The flavor remains unchanged and delicious. Matsutake mushroom steamed in a pot and other menu items are also satisfying. Asakusa is gradually coming back to life, with many popular restaurants with long lines. Despite the changing times, I hope this taste and restaurant will continue to thrive.

After a long time, I had a meeting in Asakusa. I've been feeling under the weather for the past two days, so my appetite isn't great. However, since I was already out, I decided to have lunch in Asakusa. Most restaurants open at 11:30, but it was just past 11 o'clock. I didn't want to wait for 30 minutes for a restaurant to open, so I found this place nearby. It's called "Hakuga," a popular Chinese restaurant with a long history (established in the 1920s). It had a cozy atmosphere, popular among local ladies. I ordered the chicken kamameshi, which was simple and cost 1,280 yen. I also ordered a red miso soup, which was an additional 360 yen. It turned out that each order is freshly cooked, so it took about 30 minutes. The kamameshi was served in a small pot, and although it was flavorful, it lacked the crispy rice crust I was hoping for. The chicken was tasty but in small pieces. The red miso soup was okay but seemed overpriced. Overall, the experience was average, and I realized that having a drink or appetizer while waiting for the kamameshi would have made the experience more enjoyable.

I used it for an early dinner. I had a tempura set meal. The white rice was sweet and delicious. The Edo-style tempura included shrimp, sandfish, shiso leaf, and green pepper. The oil wasn't heavy, and it was refreshing. It was a hot day, so I should have ordered a beer. If they had highball, I should have ordered that too. I wanted to savor it slowly. (I didn't have time. Just made it in time...)

This is my second visit. It takes 25 minutes for the kamameshi to be served, so it is recommended to visit when you have plenty of time. The broth is flavorful and you can easily finish one serving! The clear soup and miso soup are ordered separately, but the clear soup looked elegant. When leaving, it was a bit uncomfortable that the table was suddenly being cleared while we were still seated, but I guess it's understandable since the restaurant was busy. The staff members were not unfriendly!

I visited Kamameshi Haru for the first time in a while. Instead of their signature kamameshi, I always go for the chicken hot pot. Whenever I crave chicken sukiyaki, I come here. It's affordable and delicious. We were a group of three, but ordering a hot pot for two was enough. The chicken meat is just so good.

I visited this restaurant for the second time because I had a delicious experience in the past. It was a weekday at 3:30 pm, so it was empty - a hidden gem time! The prices are very reasonable, with dishes like crab salad for 1100 yen, fried squid for 1000 yen, and mixed rice with five ingredients for 1200 yen. The miso soup with mushrooms was 360 yen. The crab salad was disappointing - it seemed to be colored with artificial coloring, and the taste was lacking. It consisted of cucumber, lettuce, canned tomatoes, and crab with mayonnaise on top. I wished they had used dressing instead of just mayonnaise. I ordered extra mayonnaise, but it tasted like margarine. The salt that came with the salad was not natural sea salt, but some red-lidded salt that I had seen before. The mixed rice dish was disappointing as well - I ordered a large portion, but there were very few ingredients, and the shrimp was small. It lacked the vibrant and rich variety of ingredients that I expected. I was disappointed by the lack of filling in the dish. However, if you want a cheap and large meal, ordering a large portion might be a good idea. Overall, I wouldn't come back, but if you want a large and affordable meal, this place might be worth considering. Thank you for the meal!

I ordered a mixed tempura platter, vegetable tempura, fried squid, deep-fried tofu, and seasonal bamboo shoot rice. The tempura dishes were all crispy and the batter was delicious. The tempura platter came with 2 pieces each of shrimp and green pepper, which was a nice touch. The shrimp was tasty and not rubbery. The fried squid was also delicious without being too heavy, although the batter was a bit thick, probably because there were many fried dishes. The deep-fried tofu came with grated daikon radish and mountain vegetables on top of a large piece of tofu. It was a simple yet flavorful dish. The bamboo shoot rice takes about 20 minutes, but it was worth the wait. The bamboo shoot was tender and the rice had a nice crispy bottom. The lid kept the dish warm for a long time, which was nice. The menu and staff inform you about the wait time, which was helpful. Despite the crowded lunchtime in Asakusa on a Saturday, I was able to get a table easily. The dishes highlighted the delicious flavors of the ingredients, and the nostalgic atmosphere of the restaurant was charming.

There are several kamameshi restaurants in Asakusa. I decided to visit one of them, starting with the first one. The kamameshi dishes are all reasonably priced. The side dishes are a bit more expensive. It seems like you can enjoy some drinks and appetizers while waiting for your kamameshi to be ready. - Shrimp Fry The shrimp fry was straight and had a firm texture with a generous filling. It made me crave some tartar sauce. It was delicious and refreshing when squeezed with lemon. - Gomoku Kamameshi The rice was a bit moist. The seasoned rice was very satisfying. It would be nice if you could add more ingredients for an additional fee. It takes about 20-30 minutes to prepare after ordering. Thank you for the meal.

On weekends, I avoid Asakusa. Although my team doesn't do sightseeing, we come to this town to look for fruits. It's true that the crowds are increasing, so choosing a store in this situation is more difficult. Stores that are unknown to tourists or don't have long lines are a no-go. Where should we go? Ah, Kamameshi HARU. When it comes to kamameshi, it's always been Haru. I can't remember when it started. Anyway, it's been a long time. Oh, wait, I remember now. Haru is not very popular among foreigners, right? Once we entered, we had to wait for a table due to the crowd. It's quite popular, and it seems that young people are not around, mostly older folks. We found a table for four, keeping the distance in mind. What should we order? We used to have big appetites, but now we have dietary restrictions and eat very little. Two portions of kamameshi would be too much for us. So, we decided on kamameshi first. The menu had various options, but I prefer the five-ingredient kamameshi. I'm not good with dishes where all the ingredients are mixed together. I quickly ordered the "five-ingredient" kamameshi. The main dishes were the side dishes. Tempura, fried food, grilled food, and simmered food were all available. Let's go with grilled chicken. We also decided on fried oysters. The dishes were okay, and we were satisfied. The "five-ingredient kamameshi" arrived, and it was not as visually appealing as I had hoped. The rice was visible underneath, and it was a bit disappointing. But the rice had a nice flavor, and even without many ingredients, it was enjoyable. The fried oysters were juicy and delicious, and the grilled chicken was generously portioned and satisfying. The kamameshi was a bit lacking in ingredients, but it was still a satisfying meal. The wait for the food was quite long, so make sure to order early. The fried oysters were slightly overcooked, but the oysters inside were juicy and flavorful. The grilled chicken was presented in a homemade style, and it looked delicious. Although it was a bit difficult to eat, it was a good choice. Overall, it was a good menu choice, and the meal was enjoyable.

Asakusa during this year's New Year was not as lively as before the pandemic, but still quite crowded and had a good atmosphere. When it comes to kamameshi, "Haru" is a well-known and long-established restaurant. I remember their commercials used to be on the radio often. I went there with a friend after a long time. We ordered the special kamameshi, sea bream kamameshi, deep-fried shrimp cakes, pickled vegetables, and two non-alcoholic drinks. It took about 20 minutes from ordering to serving, so they must have prepared it freshly. The appetizers and deep-fried shrimp cakes were okay. The special kamameshi was lively with plenty of ingredients like shrimp, crab, salmon roe, shiitake mushrooms, and enoki mushrooms. The salmon roe was quite small, which was a bit disappointing, but the other ingredients were alright. The freshly cooked kamameshi was really delicious. It's definitely worth it to feel like a tourist at a famous restaurant once in a while.

After visiting Senso-ji Temple, on the way back from offering prayers, we decided to go to Kamameshi Haru. It was crowded, so we made a reservation at Unatetsu and Miyoshi. When we arrived at Kamameshi Haru, they said they could seat three people on the 3rd floor. After ordering, I had a bad feeling for some reason. The cups were scratched and dirty from excessive use, and the food was not delicious at all. The dessert, a half grapefruit, was the worst. I will not be revisiting this place.

I visited "Kamameshi Haru," located in Asakusa, Taito-ku for lunch. The restaurant is situated on Park Street, just off of Kaminarimon Street. When I arrived around 11 o'clock, the noren curtain was already up, and I entered the restaurant. After sanitizing my hands, I was led downstairs to a seating area. There were already several customers seated at various tables. I ordered the "Special Kamameshi" with eight ingredients such as bamboo shoots, shrimp, chicken, crab, shimeji mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, and salmon roe, as well as the "Red Miso Soup with Tofu." The kamameshi is cooked from scratch for each serving, taking about 25 minutes. After a 28-minute wait, the dishes were served. The kamameshi was presented beautifully with vibrant colors and a delicious aroma. The rice was perfectly cooked with a nice crispy crust. The red miso soup was tasty but a bit on the expensive side. Many customers seemed to be regulars or had made reservations, showing that this kamameshi restaurant has been loved in Asakusa for a long time. (Visit rating: 3.47)

On the way back from Kinugawa Onsen, we stopped by Asakusa for a bit of sightseeing. However, it was too crowded, so we decided to have lunch and head home early. When I was a child, my parents used to take me to a restaurant in Asakusa that serves kama-meshi (rice cooked in an iron pot). It was still there. I ordered the special kama-meshi for 1870 yen, which includes crab and salmon roe. It takes a bit of time because it's kama-meshi, but it's delicious when it's piping hot. The retro atmosphere of the restaurant and the staff allow you to fully enjoy the Asakusa experience.

We decided to try another restaurant for kama-meshi, but found out they don't serve it for lunch. As we were walking, we remembered about Haru, so we went there. The kama-meshi took about 25 minutes, so we ordered it along with some hot sake. It was a nice time enjoying the sake and some snacks while waiting. We thought two servings of kama-meshi was too much for two people, but it was so delicious that we finished it all. Very satisfied.

The atmosphere wasn't great, so I didn't have high expectations, but the special rice cooked in a pot was delicious! I also had simmered taro, and the flavor was well infused and tasty. I devoured the pot rice and am very satisfied. I would like to revisit if I have the chance.

On the last day of the trip, I had my suitcase with me, but they kindly accepted my reservation for 7 people after confirming that there was space over the phone. We ordered Gomoku Kamameshi, one pot per person, so we could really smell the freshly cooked rice. Even though I am an adult male who always orders ramen in large portions, surprisingly, I felt full even without side dishes. When my grandfather requested for the rice to be cooked softer due to his weak teeth, they accommodated his request. The service was great, and I would like to visit again.

I visited the restaurant for the first time in a year on a Sunday just before 4 pm for an early dinner. This is a favorite spot that has maintained the unchanged taste of its original kamameshi since its establishment in 1926. They are known for being the first to establish the style of serving kamameshi cooked in a small pot. Kamameshi with five ingredients (1150 yen tax included) is a classic menu that never disappoints. The ingredients are simple with shrimp, shiitake mushrooms, and trefoil for color and fragrance, while the rice is sprinkled with chicken, bamboo shoots, and root vegetables. The rich flavor of freshly cooked soy sauce makes this slightly strong-tasting kamameshi irresistible. Yakitori (700 yen tax included) consists of two large and juicy chicken thighs on a plate. The grilled chicken, seasoned with a slightly sweet and spicy sauce and sprinkled with shichimi pepper, goes perfectly with beer. Agedashi tofu (800 yen tax included) features soft and mild tofu with a crispy coating soaked in dashi broth, flavored with trefoil and seaweed. The spicy accent of grated radish also balanced the dish perfectly. I also enjoyed a bottle of beer (670 yen) and a glass of sake (450 yen tax included). Interestingly, when I checked my past records, I realized that I had ordered the exact same menu items one year ago.

I kept getting rejected by onigiri shops around Kameido and Asakusa, so I ended up at a kama-meshi restaurant in Asakusa. The shop was established in 1926. I ordered the mixed kama-meshi and the oyster kama-meshi, and they arrived in about 20 minutes. The rice was cooked perfectly, with a light seasoning that suited my taste. I thought it would be a set meal, but the kama-meshi was served on its own. The portion of rice was not too large, so it filled me up just right.

It may have been my first time eating properly cooked kettle rice, and it was delicious. The freshly cooked kettle rice is truly delicious, with plenty of ingredients. The portion is quite large, so even if you have seconds, it doesn't seem to decrease. It was so delicious that I finished it in one go. Thank you for the meal.
