I heard that a delicious house-style ramen shop opened in Ogikubo, and before I knew it, almost a year had passed since then, haha. It was a challenging shop for me because of renovation work and other reasons, so I couldn't go there easily. It seems that a famous person opened the shop, and it has been a hot topic for a while and still seems to be popular. It's located between Ogikubo Jiro and Marunaga Chuka Soba. When I arrived, I was tempted by Jiro, but I managed to resist and came to this shop instead, haha. Around 11:15 on a weekday, there were 5 people waiting outside. I bought my meal ticket first and then joined the line. It was nice waiting in the shade with good ventilation. A friendly staff member checked my meal ticket. This time, I ordered everything normal. The first bowl of rice is free. I was seated in about 10 minutes. The water was self-service and very cold. There was also a small fan-like device on the counter. They also provided frozen hand towels as a service. Both the assistant and the owner were very friendly, and their service was excellent. I also visited Miurake recently, and I noticed that many house-style ramen shops have good customer service. There were various condiments available such as doubanjiang, garlic, pepper, ginger, shoyu pickles, mayonnaise, sesame seeds, grated radish, vinegar, etc. They even had pickled vegetables. They had a wide variety of condiments. ▶︎Ordered items - Ramen (regular) 850 yen - Rice (free, refills are charged) Soon after, the ramen was served. It came with spinach, 2 slices of chashu, and 3 sheets of seaweed. Even though it was a regular size, the toppings were sufficient. When I tried it, wow!! It was so delicious. First of all, I really liked the soup! It had a pork-like richness, and the seasoning was well-balanced with a nice mellow taste, not too spicy. The chicken oil added was just right. I almost got hooked on house-style ramen, haha. The noodles were the usual flat and short type from Sakai Seimen. They were slightly soft by default. They paired well with the soup and were delicious. The spinach was crunchy and fresh, not frozen. It was quite tasty. The chashu was a bit chewy but had a good texture and a smoky flavor. I was happy to have 2 slices by default. Towards the end, I dipped the seaweed in the soup and enjoyed it with shoyu pickles and mayonnaise. The rice was well-cooked with good grain separation. It's nice when the rice is delicious. My experience with house-style ramen is still limited, but this was one of the most delicious ones I've had so far. The hospitality, including the service, was excellent, and I would definitely like to come back if I have the chance. Thank you for the meal!
