At the underground area near the west exit of Ikebukuro Station, there are several standing sushi restaurants, but this particular one I haven't been to yet. It's Saturday afternoon, a little past 1 o'clock, and there are 5 people waiting in line. After about 15 minutes, it's my turn to enter. I had decided on the lunch set C (980 yen) while waiting in line. A beer for 630 yen? Seems a bit expensive. I'll have a highball instead (480 yen). The highball arrives promptly, made with the familiar Black Nikka whisky that I often drink at home. Alright, here come three pieces of tuna nigiri. The order of dishes is not up to me like at a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, but that's also part of the experience, isn't it? The quality of the fish is definitely better than what you'd get at a conveyor belt sushi place. The standing sushi restaurants around here all have a high standard. But you know, conveyor belt sushi has its own appeal too. The squid, which I forgot to take a photo of, is surprisingly delicious. For me, if the squid is good, I feel reassured. I originally planned to finish with the C set, but as I keep eating, I feel a sudden burst of appetite. I decide to add my favorite negitoro gunkan (200 yen) and a green tea highball (480 yen). Nice, it's delicious. Alright, I'll also add a tekka maki (250 yen) and please bring me the miso soup from the C set. Oh, this is good, so good♪ It's coming. After trying a variety of dishes, I suddenly felt like having an uni tamago. Eel (240 yen) and tamago (120 yen), please! The eel is so flavorful, followed by the tamago which is delicious! Two pairs, double happiness. Yes, it was delicious. I love the standing sushi restaurants around here! Thank you for the meal, how much is it? That will be 3,025 yen. Yes, that sounds about right. I ended up eating more than I expected today. I'll pay with PayPay. Now, off to the pool for some exercise. Gotta burn off the calories I just consumed!
