This is a business trip to Tokyo. I had two lunch opportunities, and for the first one, I decided to try a menu that I couldn't find in Okinawa, so I went to "Toritake Main Store" in Shibuya. "Toritake Main Store" is located on the first and second floors of this building, and it is filled with chicken decorations, making it look like a Chicken Building. I sat at the counter and noticed that both the lady on the left and the man on the right were ordering bottled beer, but I decided to go for the Yakitori Donburi (1,100 yen). I sipped on the barley tea served to me and enjoyed the Yakitori Donburi. The portion was generous with 3 skewers of yakitori and 1 skewer of liver. It also came with a clear wakame soup and pickles. After refreshing my palate with the pickles, I dug into the Yakitori Donburi. The meat was big, juicy, and delicious. The rice underneath the yakitori was nicely flavored with the sauce. The liver was also large and had a nice texture, with a small piece of tsunagi in between. The aroma of the seaweed and the flavorful sauce made the dish even more enjoyable.

This is the first yakitori restaurant I visited after becoming a working adult. I had been there at night a few times, but this time I decided to go for lunch. When I arrived almost right after opening on a weekday, we were seated on the second floor, and by the time we finished ordering, the place was quite crowded. This time, as there were two of us, we ordered the yakitori donburi as our main dish, and also ordered salt-grilled skewers of chicken breast, skin, and ginkgo nuts separately. I tried the chicken breast yakitori with wasabi for the first time here and it was surprisingly delicious, so I make sure to order it every time I come. This time, I also tried the donburi for the first time, and each piece of yakitori on top was large and very satisfying. Each skewer was cooked perfectly, with crispy skin and juicy liver and chicken breast. There was no dryness at all, making it a very delicious yakitori.

Established in 1963, this long-standing restaurant will be celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. Located right by the Inokashira Line ticket gate, it always has a line out the door. However, with seating available from the basement to the second floor, you can usually get a table fairly quickly. The highlight of this restaurant is their huge and heavy yakitori, which not only impresses with its size but also its delicious flavor. When you're craving a hearty yakitori meal, this is the place to go. My go-to order usually includes the "Assorted Yakitori (5 skewers) / Yakitori / Chicken Liver / Tsukune / Chicken Wing / Green Pepper" (2,000 yen) with salt seasoning, paired with a cold beer. Although this alone is quite filling, I also like to order their popular "Chicken Rice" (955 yen) during lunchtime. The chicken pieces in the dish are huge and satisfying. In addition to yakitori, they also offer a variety of dishes such as eel, sukiyaki, Yuzu hot pot, and liver stew, so you'll never get bored of visiting. It's easy to see why this restaurant is so popular.

I love Toritake-san, but I don't like Shibuya. The Tokyu department store is gone now. In its place, a 36-story commercial complex building is being built. It's probably another flashy, child-oriented place without intelligence or sophistication. The last stronghold of adult Shibuya has been destroyed, and the city is becoming more childlike. Oh, how lamentable. On this day, I had some errands in the Harajuku area in the morning and was finally free around 1:00 pm. I wondered where to have lunch. Ah, Toritake-san, let's go. It's been a while since I last visited. I took the green train for one stop. When I arrived, I quickly ordered a black Hoppy and one grilled chicken cartilage with salt. This is a must at Toritake-san. Yum yum. Around 1:30 pm, it was still busy with customers ordering the grilled chicken rice bowl and non-alcoholic drinks. Sorry about that. I had another refill and one more grilled chicken cartilage with salt. Then, I heard a familiar and friendly voice... It was the young master whose face I couldn't see when I visited last time. I always feel comfortable hearing his voice. He brought me the grilled chicken cartilage with salt. Hello! Oh, thank you. Thank you as always! This alone makes the delicious grilled chicken even more delicious. There are rumors of redevelopment in this area along Mark City... I really hope they stop it. Isn't redevelopment supposed to be for the people? It's like a warring states period with various selfish interests, turning different parts of Japan into a swamp. It's all about prioritizing the economy without intelligence, sophistication, or culture. It's really frustrating. Toritake-san, please stay healthy and active forever! Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant alone! Located about a 5-minute walk from Shibuya Station, the interior has a nostalgic atmosphere with seating on the 2nd floor, 1st floor, and B1 floor. When I visited, the B1 floor was not in use. The 1st floor has a counter, making it easy for solo diners to enter. The ordered menu item was a yakitori bowl with two pieces of negima and one piece of liver! The chicken thigh meat was firm, the liver was moist, and the sauce was sweet and savory, making it easy to eat with rice. In addition to green onions, there were also shishito peppers, adding a nice accent! I enjoyed the traditional yakitori bowl from this long-established restaurant! Thank you for the meal!

Recently, there has been a surge in popularity, with customers from overseas lining up more than before! Depending on the time of day, the lines can be quite long, so be prepared! I enjoyed my favorite skewers with salt and a reliable lemon sour, and left feeling very satisfied!

It's been a while since I've been to Toritake, and their portions are still big! The quail is tender, the salt is tasty, and the sauce is delicious. I tried the recommended chicken rice for the first time and it was really good. I'm curious about the other rice dishes, so I'll look forward to trying them next time.

Located behind Mark City in Shibuya, this restaurant serves large portions of yakitori. The yakitori here is quite big, making it perfect for those times when you want to fill your mouth with delicious skewers. Even though it was a Monday, the restaurant was bustling with customers, which is understandable considering how reasonably priced and tasty the yakitori is. The restaurant is spacious, so even with a line, the turnover is quick.
- Appetizer
- Yakitori
- Chicken neck meat
- Tsukune (chicken meatball)
- Stuffed green pepper
- Salmon rice ball
It may be unconventional and a bit of a hassle, but because the portions are large, I like to take the skewers off the sticks and share one skewer at a time. Even so, I still feel fully satisfied after eating the yakitori. My favorites are the chicken neck meat and tsukune. The chicken neck meat is very juicy, especially when eaten with the lemon and wasabi provided. The only downside is that there are many tatami seating areas, so you have to take off your shoes, which can be a bit of a hassle. Despite that, I plan to visit this restaurant many more times in the future. Thank you for the meal.

Visited a large yakitori restaurant near the Inokashira Line before 6:00 PM on Friday, August 25, 2023. It seemed to have a basement and a second floor. I waited outside in the smoke for about 10 minutes at this time. For solo diners, the counter on the first floor is usually available quickly. I started with a lemon sour (¥530). The appetizer (¥220) included okra, edamame, and namako (mushroom) salad. I ordered a 5-skewer assortment (¥2000) with sauce. The assortment, served in about 10 minutes, included yakitori (chicken and green onion skewers), bell pepper, tsukune (chicken meatballs), tebasaki (chicken wings), and chicken liver. The skewers were large and filling. I was too full to order any additional items. The grilling was a bit rough, but the food was delicious.

Located behind the Tokyu Food Show at Shibuya Station in Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, is a yakitori restaurant called "Hyakumeiten." I had been curious about it for a while and finally had the chance to stop by for a drink before heading home after finishing work in Shibuya.
- Appetizer: Eggplant for 220 yen
- Chicken liver for 350 yen
- Chicken skin for 350 yen
- Chicken meatball for 363 yen
Since I had already eaten lunch, I decided to skip rice dishes and just ordered yakitori. The appetizer was eggplant in broth. The chicken liver and skin were glazed, while the meatball was seasoned with salt. The chicken liver had a moist texture and rich flavor, without being dry at all. The meatball had a fluffy texture, mixed with vegetables, and the saltiness was just right, bringing out the deliciousness of the chicken in a different way.
Why is yakitori so delicious? I feel like having yakitori as a side dish with shochu every day. I also had a glass of "Shirahama" from Satsuma Shuzo in Makurazaki City, Kagoshima Prefecture, a classic sweet potato shochu, mixed with soda. It used to have a strong sweet potato smell, but now it has a balanced aroma of sweet potato, refreshing with the carbonation.
I couldn't stay long as I was heading home, but I was very satisfied with the experience. I would love to come back during lunchtime and enjoy a proper meal.

I first visited this restaurant when I was a sophomore in college, about 45 years ago. It has maintained almost the same appearance since then, with no major renovations. The view from the second floor has changed due to the absence of Shibuya Mark City. The restaurant has a large selection of yakitori, with prices ranging from 350 to 400 yen per skewer. It is best to visit with three people, as you can mix and match the yakitori to get the best cost performance. The must-order items include tsukune (meatballs), tare yakitori, niku-jaga (stewed meat and potatoes), and salted sorires (chicken thigh). The tsukune is particularly juicy and delicious. The key to enjoying the yakitori is to order in stages and not let them get cold. The bill usually comes out to around 5000 yen per person after enjoying a variety of yakitori and drinks. The restaurant also offers other tempting dishes like chicken rice, katsudon, and unagi chazuke, but once you start on the yakitori and drinks, it's hard to move on to anything else. The atmosphere is lively and the staff are attentive. The restaurant diligently updates its menu on food review websites, making it easy to check prices. Overall, it's a great place for a fun and delicious night out.

I went to eat yakitori with good cost performance! It had been a while since I last went. The restaurant is always crowded, making it difficult to get a seat. This time, we sat in a tatami room and the person next to us was really close, but I like this place because the cost performance is good and you get good food at a low price. I always eat chicken wings. The eggplant was also delicious!

The beer was a draft beer, but the size was large. It was hot, but the beer came out smoothly and I was very satisfied! I ordered eel rice bowl. It was served quickly. It came with grilled eel liver, which was also quite large. However, the eel was a bit tough.

On Saturday at 7:30 PM, there was a line of people waiting in front of the restaurant! Waiting for about 30 minutes in the smoky air in front of the duct, but it's worth it. It's ideal to be able to go in casually and eat when you want at a yakitori restaurant. Nowadays, yakitori has become quite bourgeois with reservations required and prices exceeding 10,000 yen! I went for the first time with my admired older sister, and everything here is just right for me. The portion sizes of the yakitori are big, so if you want to try various types, one skewer per person might be just right for you! The skewers are made with eel skewers, so they should be quite substantial. The yakitori sauce is light and not sticky, which I love. The volume of the chicken wings is amazing! The saltiness and grilling are top-notch! This size is for one person, right?! The simmered chicken and chicken skin with ponzu are also great snacks! Quite a generous serving! But my most exciting point is this: "Finishing Chicken Rice"! Isn't it a dream to have chicken rice as a finish to yakitori? It's like a level of excitement similar to Saltimbocca! And on this night, I realized something important. "What I like is chicken rice, not omelette rice!!" I don't need eggs! What a shocking revelation!

This is a popular yakitori restaurant located right next to Shibuya Mark City. I went there around 9 pm on a weekday without a reservation and had to wait behind 3 groups, but was seated in about 10 minutes. The turnover seems to be quite fast. The yakitori here is served in large portions. The food was delicious. The rice ball at the end was also good! If you have a small appetite, you might be able to keep it under 3000 yen with just one drink. I will definitely go back!

☆Shibuya Station☆ I visited the izakaya and yakitori restaurant "Toritake Main Store" after a long time. I was seated on the nostalgic second floor and started with a beer. I remembered that the skewers were large, so I first checked the dishes on the tables around me! I ordered yakitori, vegetables, and other dishes, and also had horse sashimi. It was very satisfying. Thank you for the meal.

I found a cozy restaurant that seems perfect for middle-aged men. It's an old-fashioned yakitori place where you order with sauce. The skewers that come out are big and juicy. I took a bite and was completely satisfied, it's so delicious. The chilled eel and bitter melon champuru are also tasty. I need to come back here again.

Half portion of yakitori donburi for 1040 yen. The meat was delicious, especially the liver. The side dishes like soup and pickles were also excellent. I've been eating delicious food all week, I need to reflect on that. I sat at the counter on the second floor by the window, and it was tough because the smoke from grilling the yakitori outside kept blowing in. Despite that, I was very satisfied with the restaurant. I will definitely come back. Thank you for the meal.

Yakitori Donburi Torichiku @ Shibuya 2023/07/25(Tue)
I was lured by the fragrant smoke coming out of the duct in front of the store, so I went to Torichiku in Dojuzaka 1-chome♪ I ordered the large serving free Yakitori Donburi for 1100 yen, and it was served in a normal size. The person next to me is having a daytime drink, I'm jealous~ After about 10 minutes, here it is - with extra green onions x2 and liver x1. Yes, both the green onions and liver are delicious. The burnt parts of the green onions are especially tasty, no mistake. The soup is also delicious. I definitely have to come back at night. Thank you for the meal(^^) You can check out my previous visit here!

Meeting in Shibuya during the day. The other party wanted to chat while drinking slowly, so I chose this restaurant. We arrived around 13:00 and left around 15:30. We went upstairs to a table. We started with a toast with beer and a 5-piece set of skewers for 2000 yen, which were quite large. The chicken liver was big, but especially the chicken wings were huge. We also ordered seseri and duck, which were also large. The grilling was decent and tasty (I especially liked the chicken wings, duck, and seseri). We had a few lemon sours during the meeting. It's great to find a place where you can drink during the day. Thank you for the meal.

I visited the restaurant around 5 PM on a weekday. It seems that reservations are not accepted here. The place was already bustling, and I had to wait a bit until they prepared a table for me. The drinks and skewers were surprisingly large in size. The tsukune (chicken meatballs) had pieces of green pepper inside, giving it a homemade feel. The cartilage skewer had a good amount of meat on it, providing a satisfying bite. Both the sauce and salt seasoning were delicious. I left feeling full after spending around 3,000 yen. Thank you for the meal.
