On a Sunday morning around 9:30 am, after finishing breakfast alone in Nishikasai and heading home by car, I remembered my wife's request before going out, "Buy some bread", and decided to make a detour to visit a bakery I had visited a long time ago. This bakery is known as the first store of a bakery from France, and it is popular among office workers in the area during weekdays. I used to visit this bakery when my office was relatively close by, and I remember being overwhelmed by the wide variety of bread, pastries, and jams they offer. However, this time I decided to prioritize my wife's preferences over my own, and ended up buying the following items for our lunch: 1. Viennois Nature (lightly sweet soft bread) ¥272 2. Fougasse Basil (a traditional bread from the Provence region of southern France, with basil, semi-dried tomatoes, and Gouda cheese) ¥378 3. Viennois au Roquefort (soft bread with a hint of sweetness, filled with Gouda cheese) ¥302 4. Pain Fuite (French bread croissant) ¥297 5. Viennois A la Confiture (Viennese-style pastry with an elegant sweetness and red bean paste filling) ¥232 6. Pain de Mie (sandwich bread) 10 slices for sandwiches ¥442 Total: ¥1,923 (including tax) Each item was delicate and expertly made with butter, giving a smooth and satisfying taste. The simple Pain de Mie stood out as a high-quality bread compared to other bakeries I know, being soft and delicious on its own, and making a great sandwich the next morning. The Pain Fuite, with its sweet and buttery flavor, was also excellent. Overall, all the items were delicious and it is a great bakery where you can't go wrong with your choices. I would definitely recommend it and would like to try their other items on my next visit.

I arrived at the shop around 10:00 on a holiday. The shop had a charming exterior and a historic interior. It was a maze inside, but there were plenty of attractive breads. There were 3 customers ahead of me. I walked around the shop, checked the products, and picked a Prioche Cream for 235 yen. There were 3 female staff at the counter. I paid one by one. The prices were not cheap, but it felt like each item was made with care. I ate it right after leaving the shop. The bread was fluffy, and the cream was not too sweet. It was lighter than I expected. It was delicious. I could eat as many as I wanted.

I visited the bakery soon after it opened on Saturday. Even while I was selecting bread, other customers kept coming in without interruption. There were many different types of bread available even right after opening. I wanted it for breakfast, so I got a sandwich to go. The sandwich had various fillings and a simple seasoning, and it was delicious. This location is takeout only, but the one in Ebisu also has seating for dining in, so if you want to use it as a cafe, it might be a good idea to go there.

Second bakery, finished some errands in Hanzomon and visited the shop. Before coming here, I went to a soba noodle shop and found a sign saying "Closed today". Missed out on soba lunch. Had a feeling that they might not be open today before coming here... well, typhoon no.13 is coming, so maybe next time. Parked my car in a coin parking so I decided to "buy one more bread and go". It's been a long time since I last came here. Been exploring new bakeries, living in a different area, various personal changes have led me to neglect this shop. [Bought brunch items for today] - Petit crabe sandwich - Jumbo boulanger - Brioche cream Didn't take a photo, but I also bought Yaul. I'll stop by the delicatessen section in the department store and buy some side dishes to take home.

I almost overlooked writing a review for this place, but I ended up skipping it and taking the train. I had soba (buckwheat noodles) in Hanzomon, then passed by an Italian bakery without stopping, and headed back towards the Kojimachi station on my way home that day. This neighborhood is nostalgic for me, as I fondly looked at the eel restaurant "Akihono" and the curry restaurant "Ajanta," while feeling sentimental about the former NTV building now turned into a parking lot. Suddenly, I snapped back to reality and remembered that I was supposed to buy some bread. I ended up going to "Chez Kazama" to buy a baguette and then visited "Le Grenier" to choose between a brioche or the Nanteuil pastry. It had been about 25 years since I last visited Chez Kazama, and it was crowded, which was a pleasant surprise. There was just one customer at Le Grenier, so I went in. This was my first time visiting the Kojimachi branch, which felt more like Hanzomon to me. Interestingly, Grenier is operated by the same company as Chez Kazama, the Japanese Institute of Gastronomy. The son of the institute's owner went to France to study and trained at the French bakery "Le Grenier à Pain" before returning to Japan to open Grenier Japan. So basically, it's almost the same company as Chez Kazama. The chocolate and berry baguette I had at a previous event was delicious, but this time, I was more impressed with the brioche. It was moist and not too dry, although a bit more sweetness would've been nice. The Nanteuil pastry was my favorite this time. The exterior of the shop gives off a very ordinary, typical bakery vibe, with a slightly heavier focus on Danish pastries. It might be because it's a self-serve setup. I think they could enhance the atmosphere by adopting a face-to-face sales approach with a touch of luxury or a Parisian bakery feel, but that's just my two cents.

This is a bakery shop among the top 100 stores in 2022. It is located close to the train station. They offer Melon Pan for 260 yen and Croissant. You can taste the lemon flavor and enjoy the moist texture of the dough. You can also savor the layers of the croissant dough.

The first Japanese store of a famous bakery that has won awards in Paris. I happened to visit because it was near the hotel where I stayed. Upon entering the shop, I was greeted by a stylish atmosphere that made me feel like I was in Paris. I had high expectations. However, since I had already eaten before visiting, I couldn't find any bread that I really wanted to try. I wanted to try their famous baguette, but since I was about to leave, I ended up buying a small bread that I could easily carry. I finally ate it after returning home, and it was indeed a fantastic bread from a top-notch bakery. I wished I had bought more. Although one bread alone cannot fully evaluate a bakery, it was delicious enough. I hope to try other breads, especially the baguette, someday. I may have another business trip to Tokyo in the future, and if so, I definitely want to visit again. Thank you for the wonderful experience!

On August XX, 2023, I visited my favorite bakery, "Le Grenier a Pain" in Ebisu. Since I was in Hanzomon/Kojimachi, I decided to stop by the main store and purchased the following items: - Croissant @324 yen (tax included): A perfectly baked croissant with a strong buttery flavor, crispy and flaky on the outside, with a moist and fluffy inside. - Baguette @432 yen: An excellent baguette made with wheat and hard water from Contrex. It has a large cut on top, a crispy crust with a strong texture, and a moist and juicy inside. - Audechoix @658 yen: A product not seen in the Ebisu store. The whole wheat dough is dense with a tangy taste. It contains figs, raisins, apricots, and walnuts, creating a rich and heavy texture. It pairs well with cheese. - Pain au Chocolat @340 yen: A crispy croissant filled with rich chocolate. Tasty, but could have used more chocolate. - Tandoori Chicken Curry Flavor @326 yen: A new item with a soft dough, filled with tandoori chicken and Gouda cheese. There was a generous amount of tandoori chicken inside. It's recommended to reheat before eating. The croissant and baguette were exceptionally delicious, and the quality of all the products was high. The Ebisu store has a counter-style service, while the main store is self-service, allowing you to take your time choosing bread. Payment can be made with credit cards.

"Pan TOKYO Top 100 Stores in 2018, 2019, 2020, 2023. The first store of France's Le Grenier à Pain in Japan. Currently, there are three stores in Japan: Kojimachi, Ebisu, and Shinjuku. They sell both bread and cakes. They had a lot of bread that looked like something I would enjoy, and I had a hard time deciding. I ended up purchasing the Apple Pie and Croissant A Apricot. The 'Apple Pie' had a nice crispy crust with lots of apples inside. The 'Croissant A Apricot' had two apricots in a croissant Danish with custard cream. Both were incredibly delicious!"

After finishing work, I told my uncle about my bread adventure visiting top bakeries. He recommended this place as having a really good baguette. He travels a lot overseas, having eaten delicious baguettes in France, and he has been searching for a high-quality, authentic baguette in Japan. Located just a minute from Hanzomon Station. We visited on a Saturday around 6 pm, with just another couple there. We ordered the Pan Oraisin Baguette and Pan Osare Baguette. We purchased them and immediately ate them on the spot. The balance of wheat and salt in the dough was wonderful and delicious. It was tasty even without toasting, though toasting also seemed like a good idea. The Pan Oraisin was enjoyed without toasting, but toasting it for about 1.5 minutes in a toaster made it crispy. The Pan Osare was also delicious without toasting, with a nice mix of salt and butter. But toasting it may have made it even better. In any case, the baguettes come highly recommended by our family!

The yogurt bread, called "Yogurt Pan," was surprisingly not overly sweet. The creamy and refreshing yogurt flavor seemed to be incorporated into the slightly salty dough. The texture was not very fluffy but more crispy, possibly from being chilled. Overall, it had an interesting taste profile.

Kojimachi area typhoon walk. Since it seems to be difficult to go out from tomorrow, I went out between the rain showers to stock up on delicious food. Located about a 2-minute walk from Hanzomon Station, it's a great location and the store design is very easy to spot, so you can find it quickly. There is a steakhouse called Texas across the street. I arrived on my motorcycle wearing a raincoat. A bright red Porsche is parked in front of the store. I entered the store passing by the owner of the Porsche. The weather is rough and there are few customers. I called ahead and confirmed that the last batch of baguettes would be ready by 2:30. I arrived just in time and found freshly baked baguettes in the display case. While the baguette was cooling down in a paper bag, I looked around the store and saw many freshly baked breads overflowing. Last time I visited, I missed the timing and some items were sold out, so I was disappointed, but this time everything was perfect! I bought two canelés for 300 yen, one pain au chocolat for 340 yen, one pain fuité for 297 yen, and one baguette for 432 yen. The canelés were moist and not too sweet, very satisfying. The pain au chocolat had a crispy outer layer with a rich aroma and flavor of butter and chocolate when I bit into it. The pain fuité had a simple taste that never gets old. The outer layer was crispy with sugary grains on top, sweet like a dessert, and the inside was soft, chewy, and fluffy, providing two different textures. And the baguette! The baguette was dense with the scent of wheat. The cuts were long and not sharp, making it easy to eat. The bubbles in the bread were nice, absorbing the butter well. I like to eat the baguette as it is, without anything added, after cooling down. If you warm up the baguette that has been sitting for a while, its original texture will return when steamed in a microwave with a steam function. I got some delicious bread on the last day of the 3-day weekend. Enjoyed the meal.

After a business trip to Tokyo, I visited a bakery in Kojimachi on my way back. Since my hotel was in Ichigaya, I walked there. I arrived at the bakery right when it opened. Some breads were not ready yet, so I couldn't buy my usual choices. The bacon epi bread was delicious and chewy. I wish I could have tried the croissant.

I went to buy some breakfast bread during my business trip in Tokyo. Many bread shops close early in the evening, but this shop seems to stay open until 8:30 PM. I found out online that this shop has been selected as one of the top 100 bread shops. It was past 6 PM when I arrived, but there were still plenty of bread left. I bought the four bread in the photo below. It seems to be a bakery that specializes in hard bread, but they were surprisingly soft and delicious when I tasted them.

In the distant past, I bought and ate a ham sandwich (baguette with ham) at a bakery near the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. It was delicious! I returned hoping to taste that flavor again and purchased a Jambon Beurre (ham sandwich with a large slice of butter) for ¥680 and a Capri (with raw ham, tomato, and mozzarella) for ¥680. I also bought a chocolate croissant for ¥340, a salted bread (Pain Sale) for ¥192, a raisin bread (Luva Raisin) for ¥475, and a half baguette for ¥216, totaling ¥2583. The baguette here was dense and chewy, with a satisfying texture. It was delicious in its own way, but slightly different from the crispiness I remembered from the Notre Dame Cathedral. I apologize for my biased and idealized impression from another bakery.

Visit on a holiday morning. The price of bread items is indicated for a half size and a loaf, and if you ask the staff, they will cut it for you. The milk bread was quickly consumed by my family, so I couldn't taste it, but the rye bread had a wonderful aroma from being freshly baked. It had a crispy texture and as you chewed, the scent of rye became stronger. The canelé was a delicious standard with a crispy and chewy texture. There were also a variety of pastries and savory breads in the store, perfect for lunch. The madeleine had a coffee flavor, and the gentle sweetness of honey complemented the coffee well. Everything was very delicious. Thank you for the meal.

After visiting a curry restaurant near Hanzomon, I stopped by a bakery nearby. According to reviews, the main store is in France. Lately, I've been seeing a lot of Japanese-style hard bread, which I also like. Looking forward to trying some authentic French bread. I bought a baguette and two other delicious looking bread (why are bread names so difficult to remember?). I baked the baguette at home and wow, the crust is thick but the crumb is chewy. Hmmm, so this is what authentic bread tastes like! The other bread had amazing fold-in dough! Sweet and delicious! More like a dessert than bread! It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Today, I'm debating between getting the "Jambon Beurre" for 680 yen or the "Jambon Fromage" for 680 yen. This boulangerie offers high-quality products at a more affordable price compared to places like VIRON. I prefer the taste of the ham, cheese, and butter sandwiched between the baguette over just eating the baguette alone. It's like deciding whether to eat plain rice or have rice with a side dish. Besides the sandwich, I also bought other bread today: - The "Chaussée aux Pommes" is crispy with a tangy apple flavor and hints of cinnamon. - The "Pain au Chocolat" has a buttery croissant texture that crumbles as you bite into it, with a balanced amount of chocolate. - The "Anpan" is surprisingly delicious, with a slightly rum-infused sweet bean paste. The quality of the bread is exceptional.

I stopped by because I was nearby. It was lunch time, so people started to line up soon after I entered the store, making it a popular spot. The shop is small, so I had to quickly choose a salt butter bread. It seems better to visit outside of the morning or lunch rush to have more time to choose!

This is a shop located very close to the Hanzomon hotel. The poster says it is the first store of a bakery shop that has won awards twice in France. My wife loves bread, and since she is returning from a business trip today, we had to buy some! Inside, we bought my wife's request, the croissant amand, the pom-sor (apple pie), and for myself, the pan o chocola. They use the same wheat and butter as the shop in France. I bought them with a little excitement. I carried them home carefully so as not to crush them. Although Fukuoka has many delicious bakeries, these felt quite tasty with the little touch of a French bakery. They were just delicious. My wife was very impressed with the croissant amand and said, "This is delicious!" When we stay at this hotel again, we will definitely buy some more. Thank you for the meal.
