This is a revisit before the weekend lunchtime. I had just visited earlier in the month, but there were multiple menu items I wanted to try, so I ended up coming back sooner than expected. The restaurant was almost full, but surprisingly the turnover was quick, and I was able to sit down immediately after entering and paying. I ordered the Takamaru set meal (half portion of rice). The dishes were served in about 5 minutes. The rice was adjusted to about 100g, and I was told to let them know if I needed more. But it was enough for me. The sushi bucket in the Takamaru set meal was generously filled with various sashimi such as tuna, sea bream, bonito, haddock, amberjack, salmon, and yellowtail. Each slice of sashimi was thick and satisfying to eat. The freshness was high, and the sashimi had just the right amount of fattiness. Every single piece of sashimi was delicious without any disappointments, and each one had a main dish level of tastiness. The variety of sashimi was also delightful, and I felt happy with each bite. What an amazing sashimi set meal it was. It was surprising in quality and fulfilling. And all this for 1200 yen, it was an astonishing value for money, and I couldn't ask for more. The miso soup was also full of fish and equally delicious. For me, the Takamaru set meal was overwhelmingly attractive. I would love to eat this dish multiple times, but there are other menu items I want to try, so I might revisit soon. This restaurant is highly likely to become a regular spot for me in the future. It's been a while since I visited. I recommend the mixed fry which includes (probably) tuna chunks, cod, and horse mackerel. For sashimi, there's amberjack, sea bream, and another type I couldn't identify. As always, the portion size is amazing. It's nice to have plenty of tartar sauce too. The horse mackerel fry was particularly good. And all this for 1,200 yen, which is great value. If only the rice could be a bit better.

Today, I met up with some friends I hadn't seen in a while, and we decided to go to a popular seafood restaurant in Shinjuku because we wanted to eat delicious seafood. We made a reservation for Thursday at 7:30 PM, and luckily we were able to get a table right away. We ordered a sashimi platter, which was fresh and had large, thick slices that were very satisfying and delicious. We also had grilled fish collar, potato salad, marinated cucumber, and tuna with cream cheese, all of which were tasty. It's easy to see why this restaurant is so popular. Delicious! We shared the two portions between two people and were completely satisfied. ☁️ The Grilled Salmon Belly was also quite large, crispy on the outside with a strong saltiness and rich fattiness. It was not heavy and the chopsticks kept moving. Grilled fish is always a favorite! ☁️ The Seafood Roll from Takamaru had double the amount we expected, and the cost performance was amazing. It had various seafood inside, including what seemed like amberjack. The fatty fish paired well with the gentle-flavored sushi rice. More filling than rice, which was fantastic! My partner even ate the Seafood Roll as a side dish to their rice (genius). ☁️ The Miso Soup was very salty but delicious.

Lunch on August 14, 2023 (Monday). Work in the morning in Nakayama, work in the afternoon in Shinjuku. Had lunch in Shinjuku. Went to a popular seafood izakaya in front of Kasugai Park in Nishi-Shinjuku, a small park that I had been wanting to visit. It was 1:37 pm, and the place was busy but there were empty seats. I ordered and paid first. The recommended dish was the Hokkai Special, which was recommended to me bluntly. After looking at the menu, I decided to order the Hokkai Special set meal (1980 yen). I received a number tag, sat down, and waited. The seafood set meal that came out was a large piece of salmon sashimi, scallop bolognese grill, live turban shell sashimi, a small amount of red king crab, and salmon roe. The salmon was delicious with its fatty texture. The salmon roe was okay. However, the rest was just average, the crab was disappointing, and the rice wasn't good. It was a mistake in ordering. I should have just ordered a regular sashimi set meal or a regular seafood bowl like other customers were eating. I fell for the employee's recommendation and ended up making a mistake.

I decided on my order from the menu and paid in advance, so I could leave whenever I wanted, making it easy for even one person to visit! I had the salmon set meal (might have a different name), and both the salmon cutlet and sashimi were delicious! The miso soup was also tasty and comforting. Watching the salarymen warriors around me, I savored my beer and bonito set meal, which left a delicious taste of guilt and superiority all over my body. You can have unlimited rice refills, but if only the rice was tastier, I would rate it around 3.8. From a cost-performance perspective, it's not bad. During lunchtime, about 70% of people order the Takamaru set meal.

You place your order first, then take a number tag and a cup to your seat. Although it says on Tabelog that they accept cards, it seems they only take cash. I ordered the "Haras set meal (1,280 yen)". It takes a while for the grilled dish to arrive, but it's worth the wait. The Haras dish is quite large and satisfying. The grilling was just right, and it was delicious until the end. The rice was freshly cooked, but it was a bit different from my preference, and I wished there were pickles included in the set meal. The main fish dish was excellent, but overall, it was just okay. You can get refills for rice and miso soup, which is convenient for those who want to eat a lot. I think the Isaki and Sawara dishes are also delicious, so I'll try them next time I come.

The sushi toppings were quite large and delicious. I later found out online that rice and miso soup refills were free, so I wish they had told me that. The miso soup was delicious and I might have wanted to have more. Considering the price and location, this lunch was quite cost-effective.

Takamaru Sengyo-ten in Shinjuku. I ordered the medium fatty tuna for 2180 yen, and the grilled amberjack collar for 1480 yen, along with some Hoppy. It wasn't too crowded this time, so our order went smoothly. The medium fatty tuna here always has a rich fatty texture and sweetness, making it delicious. The amberjack was also flavorful and tasty. You can't go wrong with anything you order here. I will definitely come back.
