Located a 5-minute walk from Shinjuku Station, next to Otsuka Furniture, this underground izakaya has a dimly lit interior with a variety of seating options including a counter, tables, and private rooms. Specializing in yakitori, the menu offers a diverse range of dishes such as special salted liver (¥700), delicious chanja (¥600), chilled tomatoes (¥1,200), negima (¥480), momo (¥530), kawa (¥420), sasami with fresh wasabi (¥480), and hand-kneaded tsukune (¥520). The yakitori made from Hichinoko chicken showcases the unique flavors of each part, with the tsukune being particularly tender and flavorful, especially when paired with egg yolk. The chilled tomatoes are exceptionally sweet and fruity, with a firm texture that makes them more of a main dish than a dessert, justifying their price of ¥1,200. While we tried the classic menu items this time, there were other intriguing dishes on the menu that make me want to visit again, regardless of the occasion.

Was this kind of place? The yakitori can be hit or miss depending on the item. The sand liver was too tough from being overcooked. The porridge at the end was fantastic. I felt like if the saltiness was toned down a bit, the broth's goodness would stand out even more. The staff felt like they were straight out of an izakaya.

I used this restaurant for a slightly formal dinner. I had to make a last-minute reservation because I couldn't go to the original restaurant I had booked due to various circumstances. The room we were seated in was a completely private space, which was reassuring. I reserved the 8000 yen course with all-you-can-drink option. The dishes that came out were generous in portion and my companions were very satisfied. It's clear that this place has a long-standing reputation. It would have been nice to have draft beer, but that might be asking for too much... haha Overall, it was a very satisfying restaurant, so I will definitely use it again.

I visited a shop located a 2-minute walk from the east exit of Shinjuku Station, specializing in Hichinai Jidori from Akita Prefecture. The store was almost full, indicating its popularity. The counter was spacious and comfortable. Overall, the cooking was well done and the chicken itself was delicious, but I felt the flavor was a bit bland and could use a bit more salt. I would like to visit again if I have the chance.

Today, we had a meeting with our team members at "Shinjuku Imaiyahonten" and also celebrated a promotion of one of our subordinates. The interior of the restaurant is a bit dimly lit, and you can hear the voices of other customers clearly. We couldn't get a private room, so we sat at a regular table, but there is also a counter seating available. This time, we mainly focused on drinks, and for yakitori, we ordered the following three types: 1. Negima (\590) - This skewer includes two types of chicken meat, not just one, but also thigh and breast meat. The texture was different each time, so it was not boring. 2. Momo (\590) - When it comes to yakitori, thigh meat is a must. The thigh meat at Imaiyahonten had a satisfying texture, and the juices overflowed with each bite. Truly delicious! 3. Te-gone tsukune (\590) - This minced chicken skewer had a fluffy texture, a rich sauce, and the flavorful yolk of Hinai-jidori chicken. The combination was excellent, and I ended up ordering an extra one for myself. Unfortunately, the "shiraleba" was sold out due to our late reservation, but I definitely want to try it next time. The staff were friendly, and I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for yakitori in Shinjuku. Thank you for the meal - I will definitely visit again! I made a reservation the day before and arrived at 5:30, but the chicken liver was sold out so I couldn't eat it and was disappointed. However, I enjoyed other yakitori dishes such as breast meat and skin, hand-kneaded tsukune, along with beer and shochu highballs. I spent about 1.5 hours and it cost me around 7000 yen per person. It was very delicious.

I used the restaurant for a parent-child lunch. The lunch course was satisfying and the meal lasted for a quick 2 hours. The portion was good. We took off our shoes and sat at a sunken kotatsu-style table. The space felt a bit cramped and we could hear the voices from the next table. It had a cave-like atmosphere, which might be nice for when you want to relax. It didn't feel particularly upscale, more like a casual izakaya, so I thought the atmosphere might be better suited for dinner than lunch.

I used it for a meal with my colleagues at work. I was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture of the yakitori. The yakitori had a strong seasoning that went well with alcohol. Yakitori and alcohol are the ultimate combination. The only picture I managed to take was of the final ochazuke. The final ochazuke had a gentle flavor that soaked in. Thank you very much!

It's been a while since I had yakitori. I came to this restaurant based on a friend's recommendation. We ordered fried ginkgo nuts, salad, assorted pickles, about 6 skewers of yakitori, asparagus and mushroom chicken soup, and rice. The skewers were delicious, but the fried ginkgo nuts, salad, and chicken soup with rice were the highlights. The salad had a variety of vegetables, and the deep-fried eggplant was particularly tasty. Looking around, most tables were ordering porridge as the finale, but the chicken soup with rice was really satisfying. The portion was just right, not too much. The porridge came in a single iron pot, so if you want a larger portion, the porridge might be a better choice. The yakitori had a rich chicken flavor and was very delicious. I especially recommend the tsukune.

I visited Imaiya Honten, a specialty store for Hichinai Jidori chicken, located about a 10-minute walk from the JR Shinjuku Station East Exit ticket gate. I went there on a holiday during lunchtime to make use of some shareholder benefits coupons I received from an acquaintance. Upon entering around 11:50 on a holiday, we were seated promptly and shown to a table for two. After looking over the menu, I ordered the "Hichinai Jidori Oyakodon (with extra rice)" for 1200 yen. The extra rice was free, so I decided to go for it. The dish was served in about 10 minutes. The menu described it as "Imaiya's classic Oyakodon - made with flame-grilled Hichinai Jidori thigh meat and a base flavor of 100% Hichinai Jidori chicken broth. A carefully crafted dish finished with a soft-boiled egg." The grilled chicken had a deliciously fragrant taste, and the broth was perfectly seasoned. The egg was slightly firmer than I expected, but it had a good texture. As I ate, I wondered if they also used chicken breast, but according to the explanation, they only used thigh meat, so it must have been my perception. In any case, Oyakodon can taste completely different depending on whether the chicken is grilled or not, and the grilled type is always very delicious. This restaurant serves that type, so it was very tasty. The seasoning was just right - not too strong or too light, making it a high-quality Oyakodon. I ordered extra rice, so there was a lot, but I managed to finish it all (laughs). The accompanying soup (I think) had some finely simmered diced daikon (or something similar) that was really delicious... it was so tender it melted in my mouth. There were only three pickles served, but they were tasty. The interior of the restaurant had a chic and atmospheric feel, and the staff were very friendly. The paper towels were also very thick and large, which was excellent. Overall, it had been a while since I had such a delicious Oyakodon, and I left satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

When it comes to a reliable yakitori restaurant in Shinjuku, this is the place. Once again, I enjoyed high-quality yakitori here. The tsukune (chicken meatballs) with egg was particularly good. The all-you-can-drink option was an additional 500 yen, which included unlimited draft beer. It would have been nice if it was included from the start. The cost was 8,500 yen per person, so I think the cost performance was reasonable.

I visited the restaurant on a holiday night. The atmosphere was calm, and the staff were very attentive and quick to respond when called. I ordered the yakitori course menu, which included appetizers, salad, a selection of 4 types of yakitori, tsukune, raw gizzard, oyster sauce chicken, char siu, chicken porridge for the end, and dessert. Located just a short walk from Shinjuku Sanchome. You enter through a heavy solid wood door and find a calm atmosphere with semi-private seating, perfect for groups to relax. I ordered the spicy chicken nanban from the lunch menu. The chicken pieces were large and the rice was generous with free refills. If this restaurant was near my office, I would come here once a week. I also want to try the creamy oyakodon next time.

I made a reservation for a private room. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is calm, and there are many private rooms, making it easy to use for various purposes. The skewers are good, except for the chicken skewers which were a bit dry. It would be better if they were bigger and more moist. The garlic was a bit rare. I had the rare type last time, so I wanted to change it up today and this place was good for that. The staff were not bad, but there were some order mistakes, so I would rate them as average.

Visited my favorite chicken restaurant in Shinjuku for a weekend lunch treat. It was a miracle that we were able to get in without a reservation or waiting on a weekend. This time, I decided to go with the Tori Nanbanage Gozen, while my companion had the Oyakodon, which we shared. The Oyakodon had a delicious broth and tender Hinai-jidori chicken with a nice chewy texture. The Tori Nanbanage had a sweet and savory flavor with a generous amount of tartar sauce, which paired perfectly with the soft and flavorful chicken. Both dishes were incredibly delicious. Personally, I would recommend the Tori Nanbanage. Both dishes were satisfying, and I left the restaurant feeling very content. Thank you for the meal! The shiitake mushrooms were incredibly delicious. I made a reservation for 6:30 pm, but there were hardly any rare cuts left, which I found unbelievable. I think they should have more available during dinner time. Most of the items I wanted to try were sold out, so it was disappointing.

On May 20, 2023 (Saturday) for dinner with my partner. After watching rugby at the National Stadium, we went from Sendagaya to Shinjuku and tried this restaurant that came up in a search. We ordered draft beer and grilled chicken skewers using Hinai-jidori chicken and Binchotan charcoal - negima (580 yen), thigh (580 yen), liver (500 yen), skin (530 yen), bonjiri (530 yen), vegetable grill - thick shiitake mushrooms (530 yen), asparagus (430 yen), and quail egg skewers grilled over charcoal - selected ingredients (330 yen). We were asked if we wanted the yakitori with sauce or salt, except for the skin, where we could choose between salt, sauce, or sansho pepper sauce (probably because it's part of their standard procedure). We chose salt. As a result, most were with salt, except for the liver which came with sauce. The liver was okay. The thigh and thigh part of the negima had a good texture, and we could tell it was Hinai-jidori chicken. The bonjiri was average, and the skin was ordinary. By the way, we accidentally knocked over a glass of beer, but the staff were very understanding and handled it well. That was a good point about this restaurant. We had 4 glasses of draft beer between the two of us, and the bill came to 8310 yen, which we thought was a bit expensive. In the afternoon, Ukrainian President Zelensky arrived in Japan and immediately began meetings with various world leaders.
