When it comes to Akasaka, I personally associate it with Chinese food. I was debating whether to go to a place I often visit, but decided to try a new restaurant. On this day, I visited "Sichuan Tantanmen Akai Kujira Akasaka" where I ordered the Sichuan Tantanmen with soup. You can choose the level of spiciness and numbness, both of which I chose the highest level of 3 for free. While waiting for the food, they provided ground sesame seeds, so I enjoyed the aroma by grinding the sesame seeds. The restaurant recommended crushing half of the sesame seeds to fully enjoy the aroma and texture. When the dish arrived, the strong scent of Sichuan pepper immediately stimulated my nostrils. The soup was rich and flavorful with the sweetness of chili oil and sesame seeds. The spiciness was just right, not too overpowering. The thick noodles had a nice chewy texture that paired well with the soup. Personally, I found that dipping the noodles without dissolving the Sichuan pepper at first allowed me to better appreciate its flavor. As I sprinkled ground sesame seeds towards the end, the aroma and texture enhanced the dish. Gradually, the Sichuan pepper also started to dissolve, completely changing the taste. Chinese cuisine and Tantanmen in the Akasaka area are definitely top-notch. I found another great restaurant. Thank you for the meal!

I made a seat reservation on Hot Pepper. I ordered the Sichuan tantan noodles for 980 yen with an additional hot spring egg for 100 yen. I chose the mild level of spiciness. I was able to use my points. The main seating in the restaurant is at large tables, but there are also sofa seats available, and they guided me to one that was open. They brought a mortar with sesame seeds first. As I ground the sesame seeds, the noodles arrived. The thin noodles had a great sesame flavor, and the minced meat was juicy and satisfying. I also liked the service from the staff. I would like to visit again if I have the chance.

It's been a while, but I revisited this restaurant near my workplace that serves the best tantanmen. Since it was still summer, this time I opted for the soupless tantanmen, spiciness level 3 and numbness level 3. The dish arrived quite quickly, and after mixing it well, I realized I forgot to take a picture, so here it is. I apologize for the poor quality. The spiciness really comes through with this dish. While level 3 is a bit too much for me in the soupless version, level 2 would be more appropriate. The numbness was satisfying, and the chewiness of the noodles was just as expected. The service was fine, but I wish they would improve the process of stamping the app, as I always have to remind them to do it. It's a bit bothersome.

I had lunch at a restaurant that I had been curious about for a while, right at 3:00 in the afternoon. I ordered the Sichuan spicy tan-tan noodles with a spice level of 2 and numbness level of 2, but opted for shirataki noodles to watch my calorie intake. While waiting, I ground the sesame seeds into the soup, which made it rich and the numbness was just right. The nutty bitterness of the sesame seeds enhanced the flavor even more. The shirataki noodles were not bad, but next time I have decided to try the regular noodles! The staff's greetings and service were very pleasant and cute, making me want to come back again. Today, I visited this restaurant. I ordered the Paiko Tan Tan Men for 1280 yen and a side of extra rice for 120 yen. The spiciness level can be chosen from 3 levels, but since it was my first time, I chose level 2. I also opted for the free extra large portion. The Paiko Tan Tan Men was delicious as always. The extra rice had cheese on top. The spiciness at level 2 was just right, and the nuts added a nice crunch to the dish.

It's a bit pricey, but they offer a free large portion (300g) so I went for it. The toppings included quail eggs, which are usually charged at other places. Honestly, I felt like I could have gotten a Jiro-style ramen elsewhere. There aren't many spicy Jiro-style ramen options, so it was a refreshing change, but I felt that the regular tantanmen or soupless ramen offered a unique taste that can only be enjoyed here. However, I would recommend this place for when you want to easily enjoy a spicy Jiro-style ramen.

I felt like eating noodles and decided to visit the Red Whale restaurant, which I had been curious about because it was close to my home. I ordered the recommended spicy Sichuan tantan noodles, and while waiting, I found the process of grinding sesame seeds a bit interesting. The taste was a classic tantan noodles with a strong sesame flavor and a hint of Sichuan peppercorns in the soup. The rich and thick soup was personally very much to my liking! I am now curious to try the Whale Ramen next time! The recommended spiciness level is indeed spicy!

Arrived before 11:45 on Thursday without waiting in line. It was my first visit, so I chose the Sichuan Tantanmen for 980 yen tax included, recommended in the top left corner of the ticket machine. I selected a spiciness and numbness level of 3, which is the maximum available for an additional fee. I was also slightly intrigued by the Jiro-inspired Kujirou. The sesame and Sichuan pepper arrived in about a minute. After enjoying the crunchy texture and sound, the bowl arrived after a 5-minute wait. First, I took a sip of the soup without mixing the sesame and Sichuan pepper. It had a rich and creamy texture, very flavorful and delicious. Gradually melting the sesame and Sichuan pepper, I enjoyed the changing flavors of the soup, which became even more delicious with a mellow richness, a noble aroma, and a moderate numbness. However, when I dissolved all the remaining Sichuan pepper, it became a bit too strong ^_^ The noodles had a good chewiness and were delicious, and the shredded red pepper and green onions also did a great job. The occasional ground meat and nuts mixed in the soup were a nice touch. In this competitive Sichuan Tantanmen area, this was a bowl that made me want to visit again.

【84th Cup in 2023】I felt like eating Jiro-inspired tantanmen again, so I went to "Sichuan Tantanmen Akai Kujira" in Akasaka after about half a year. It was not too crowded today since it's Obon week. I purchased the "Limited Raamen" Kujuro voucher for 1,280 yen. You can also pay with QR code. When I handed the voucher to the staff, they asked me about the spiciness level, so I chose the lowest "1x1" this time. I also asked for free toppings of garlic and a free extra serving of noodles (200g→300g) available during lunchtime. They provide paper aprons. The noodles were served in about 10 minutes. The bowl size is not very big, but it's filled with plenty of toppings. I tried the soup first without mixing in the garlic, and it was rich with a strong sesame flavor. Since I chose "1x1," I couldn't really feel the spiciness or numbness. However, if I choose "2x2," my lips would tingle, so I'm not sure what to do next time. The noodles were thick and flat, cooked firm, and the extra serving was satisfying. The toppings included bean sprouts, green onions, quail eggs, cabbage, chashu, seaweed, and shredded red chili peppers. I finished all the toppings and noodles again this time. I still felt full even in the evening. I want to visit regularly... Yummy!!!

I felt that if I didn't grind the sesame seeds too much, it would taste better when added to the tantanmen. (I think it depends on each person's preference!) It was my first time trying numbness, so I was a bit nervous, but when the dish arrived, I was surprised by its redness (laughs). I was worried if I could eat it, but it wasn't just spicy, it also had a rich flavor, so it was not a problem at all. As I continued eating, I understood the meaning of "numbness." My tongue really tingled! This sensation might become addictive, but I found it a bit challenging. However, I managed to eat it all the way to the end because it was delicious! Next time, I want to try level 3 spiciness with no numbness. The limited ramen that my companion was eating looked delicious, and I'm curious about all the other menu items too! I arrived around 10:10 PM on Saturday. On my way from the National Stadium to the hotel near the National Diet Building, I found a highly rated restaurant that was open late. I hurried to make it in time for the last order at 10:30 PM. There were a few customers scattered around. I ordered the soupless tantanmen for 1280 yen by purchasing a meal ticket outside. When I sat down, I was asked about the level of spiciness and numbness I preferred, and I asked for normal. First, sesame seeds were served, and then about 5 minutes later, the tantanmen was served. Each ingredient had its own unique taste, and it was very delicious. The portion was generous, and I couldn't finish it all, so I paid 100 yen for a takeout container. The waitress, who had a smile like Ueto Aya, was cute. All the staff members seemed nice.

This time, I tried tantanmen without soup for the first time, but I usually eat Sichuan tantanmen. Both are delicious, but personally, I prefer Sichuan tantanmen. The combination with half-boiled egg as a topping is excellent for both. The staff's service is also good. Paper aprons are provided, so you don't have to worry about getting dirty. It is suitable for both individuals and groups, regardless of gender. I will definitely use it again.

I ordered the Tan Tan mixed soba. I chose numbness level 2 and spiciness level 1 because I prefer a mild taste. The visual presentation was excellent and the dish looked delicious. After mixing it well, I took the first bite and it was incredibly tasty. The balance of spiciness and flavor was perfect and I couldn't stop eating. The char siu pork was amazingly delicious, it was truly impressive. I will definitely go back, even though it's always crowded. I'll wait in line again!

I stopped by this place on my way back from work because it was near the business hotel where I stayed for a business trip. It was more of a junk food style rather than the typical soup-less tantanmen, but I guess younger people prefer something with more punch. Located about a 3-minute walk from Akasaka Station, this restaurant with a whale sign had caught my eye for a while. I finally decided to visit on a weekday just after 1 pm. Upon entering, there is a ticket machine on the left, so I prepared my order before being seated. I was asked about the level of spiciness and numbness I preferred, and since I don't like too much numbness, I chose 1 for numbness and 2 for spiciness. I ordered the Sichuan Tantanmen of the day. As I waited, I ground the white sesame seeds in the small mortar placed on the table. Despite not being too crowded, the food took a while to arrive. After about 15 minutes, the bright red appearance of the dish was a bit intimidating, but the soup had just the right amount of spiciness. The scent was particularly delightful. The minced meat was mixed with crushed peanuts, adding a pleasant texture and a fragrant aroma. The noodles were chewy and twisted, allowing the soup to cling to them nicely. However, slurping the twisted noodles caused splashes, so wearing a paper apron was a must. About halfway through the meal, I started to feel the saltiness, so I refrained from finishing the soup. Unfortunately, the air conditioning was not strong enough for a place serving spicy food, causing me to sweat profusely while eating. Despite the slight discomfort, I stayed for about 30 minutes before leaving, as the restaurant quickly filled up. I am curious about the soup-less tantanmen and will visit again in cooler weather to fully enjoy the experience.

I finally tried the soup that I've been curious about passing by the shop. I visited at 3pm on Saturday. You buy a meal ticket at the entrance, and you can change the regular noodles to konjac noodles for free! When you sit down, they bring a mortar with sesame seeds. I visited around 2:45 PM on a regular day and was able to enter smoothly. I ordered the tantanmen for 950 yen (recommended with mild spiciness and medium numbness). The noodles were firm, the soup was rich with a strong sesame flavor, and the self-grated sesame added to the intensity. I didn't feel much spiciness, and the numbness was mostly from the Sichuan pepper on top, so it didn't bother me much when combined with other ingredients. You can choose the level of spiciness and numbness from 3 options, but I chose level 1 for both. It was my first time trying Szechuan Tantanmen, so the numbness was a bit strong for me.
