Opened in 2022, "Break Beats" in Yutenji has opened a new chicken white broth specialty shop called "Afro Beats" in Shinjuku Gyoen in 2023. Even before the opening, it has attracted attention, with lines already forming. The interior of the shop resembles a stylish cafe bar, creating a pleasant atmosphere. Afro Beats is named after the music genre or technique that evolved in West Africa after the 2000s, influenced by American hip-hop and reggae. It seems to symbolize the desire to evolve the classic chicken white broth by incorporating innovative techniques. The "Special Chicken White Broth Ramen" priced at 1,650 yen is served in a white bowl with a creamy soup, pink rare chashu, and a rich, flavorful seasoned egg. The soup, made without chemical seasonings, is rich in chicken white broth but not overly fatty, giving a clean and refreshing impression. It has a savory taste similar to a hot pot soup. The chicken used is called "Amakusa Daio," a local breed. The noodles are thick, straight noodles that absorb the soup well without overpowering the chicken flavor. They have a softness similar to chanpon noodles. The toppings include low-temperature smoked chashu made from Yamayuri pork, soy sauce-braised chashu made from domestic pork shoulder loin, minced purple onions, thinly sliced fried potatoes, sliced lemon, and minced green onions. The "Special" version includes extra chashu, seasoned egg, and truffle-infused potato foam. The difference between the default and special version lies in the increased chashu, potato foam with truffle, and seasoned egg. The addition of truffle to the potato foam creates an elegant Western-style touch when combined with the creamy soup. Mixing it into the soup allows for a variation in taste. The completion of this soup seems to have evolved "chicken white broth" to the next level. Expectations are high for the future success of "Brebi" and "Afubi"!

Visited around 12:40 on a holiday with no wait. Ordered the Chicken White Broth Ramen for 1200 yen. The chicken white broth soup is relatively light, perfectly balanced so it doesn't become too heavy. It also has a hint of lemon for added lightness. The noodles are medium-thin straight noodles, which are not unpleasant. The smoked chashu has a nice aroma and is moist and delicious. I would come back just for the chashu alone.

Ramen Afro Beats in Shinjuku Gyoenmae is a ramen shop that opened in March as a sister store to Ramen Break Beats in Yutenji. While Ramen Break Beats offers a clear chicken broth, Ramen Afro Beats specializes in chicken white broth. The signature dish, Special Chicken White Broth Ramen priced at ¥1,650, features straight noodles with a light and creamy soup that is surprisingly easy to drink despite its rich appearance. Mixing in the paprika foam gives it a more Western flavor. Toppings include low-temperature cooked pork loin chashu, soy sauce simmered pork shoulder chashu, half-boiled egg, Kujyo green onion, purple onion, fried onion, and sliced lemon, creating a variety of harmonious flavors in one bowl. Unlike Yutenji, Ramen Afro Beats is not crowded outside of peak hours, making it a hidden gem. I look forward to trying their other dishes like Chinese soba and limited editions in the future.

I read that the Chicken Paitan 1650 ramen is very delicious, but it wasn't really to my liking. The ramen looks beautiful and well-executed, but the soup was tasty at first but became a bit difficult to drink towards the end. The noodles were very delicious, but the soup made it hard to enjoy. The chashu was tasty but felt a bit too much towards the end, with the meat being moist and tender rather than crispy.

I had some errands to run in Shinjuku San-chome, so I hurriedly walked for 10 minutes in the scorching heat to visit the sister store of that popular shop. I arrived at 2 pm on a weekday and there was no line. The inside of the restaurant had 3-4 people, and I purchased my meal from the ticket machine. I brought my own water and sat down, feeling hot. The seats were close together, and I could see the person next to me sweating. The counter was high, while the cooking station was low, making it hard to tell which was which. I found it interesting to watch the blender and foam bottles during the cooking process, but it was distracting. The thick chicken broth ramen, like a consomme, didn't seem suitable for the hot weather. The firm noodles were to my liking. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. #ShinjukuGyoenmae #ramenafrobeats #PremiumChickenBrothRamen #1650yen #ramenbreakbeats #sisterstore #NoLineAt2pm #TrufflePotatoFoam #InterestingIngredients #BlendedSoup #SuperRichChickenBrothSoup #SufficientlySalty #HotInsideAfterWalking #AndRich #LowCookingStationRevealsAll #WipingTheBowlRimThoroughly #WipingTheSoupWithACloth #ClothInSoupIsConcerning #ConcerningCookingStation #GettingMoreConcernedAboutTheRichness #PurpleOnionIsWellBalanced #NotUsuallyIntoWhiteBroth #InterestingTechniques #ThankYouForTheMeal #Noodlestagram #EverydayHappiness

The second branch of RamenBreakBeats in Yuutenji, which has become so popular that it now requires reservations, specializes in chicken white broth ramen. When it first opened in March of this year, there were long lines, but recently it seems you can get in without waiting. However, the restaurant is always full with customers coming one after another. The ticket machine has a touch panel where you can order the chicken white broth ramen as the main dish, but they also have a limited quantity of fish white broth and tantanmen. For my first visit, I ordered the special chicken white broth ramen, which came with a creamy, yet light soup with foam on top, shoulder loin, rare chashu, seasoned egg, green onions, purple onions, crispy fried onions, and more. The foam that comes with the special ramen is made of corn and sometimes a rich egg, providing a luxurious flavor variation. The soup is creamy but smooth, made with the legendary Amakusa Daio chicken, and the noodles are straight and slightly firm, perfectly complementing the soup. On another visit during lunchtime, I tried the limited 20 servings of tantanmen, which had a mild and smooth spiciness with a sesame flavor base. The foam on top was made of spinach and added an elegant touch to the dish. Although it was a bit hot and I ended up sweating, I could sense that there is still room for further evolution in the restaurant. I look forward to going back when the weather cools down.

I revisited the restaurant where I was impressed by the chicken broth ramen from Espuma the other day. This time, I tried their limited edition tantanmen. It was also rich and creamy, an exquisite tantanmen. Instead of bok choy, it came with spinach Espuma! It was delicious and added a nice touch to the flavor. I definitely want to go back again.

I have not yet visited the main store, but I know they have a second brand. The tantanmen is said to be limited, but when I went after 2pm, they still had it. When I took a few sips of the soup, I felt that it wasn't as rich as I expected. Tantanmen made from chicken broth usually has a heavier taste, but this one doesn't have that at all. It has a very elegant feel without the heaviness and richness that you would expect from chicken broth. I finished the soup completely and at that moment, I thought that this level of richness was the best. I believe they mentioned that the mousse-like substance was spinach, but it had a slight matcha flavor. Maybe it's just me?

I love ramen, but I'm not a big fan of chicken white broth ramen. I don't really like the smell of chicken bones, and some places make it too salty, so I have consciously avoided it. When I passed by Ramen Afro Beats near Shinjuku Gyoen, I noticed that there was no line even though they were open. Seizing the opportunity, I decided to go in. I stood in front of the ticket machine, contemplating my options. The menu on the top left featured chicken white broth ramen. After some consideration, I chose the "Ajitama Chicken White Broth Ramen" for 1400 yen. The interior of the restaurant is stylish, and the staff in their uniforms look cool. The dish arrived in about 5 minutes, with bubbles on the surface - foam, perhaps. I took a sip of the soup and was pleasantly surprised by its well-balanced flavor. There was no unpleasant smell of chicken bones, and the saltiness was just right. I could even taste hints of soy sauce in the soup. The thin noodles were delicious, and the chashu was excellent. The presentation, taste, and ingredients all harmonized beautifully, and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Thank you for the delicious food.

I went around noon on a Sunday at the end of August, lucky that I didn't have to wait in line. Even in the hot summer, the soup was rich and delicious, so good that I wanted to drink it all up, and the noodles, chashu, and egg were all tasty. I want to try other dishes next time, but my stomach is full, so I'll come back for the limited ramen. It was delicious, thank you for the meal.

#ramenafrobeats #Sister restaurant of Tori Paitan La Men Blevi. The world of Tori Paitan ramen, which had a feeling of being exhausted, has evolved to the next level. Tori Paitan may be French cuisine. It has a light and rich taste that is interesting. The sauce was incredibly delicious, but what is this, is it marinated in something? I didn't intend to finish it because of the oil and salt content, but before I knew it, the soup was gone.

Rich in seafood flavor. Despite the heat, I opted for seafood dishes and they did not disappoint. The luxurious atmosphere was as expected. Next time, I'll try the tantanmen with spinach. However, the restaurant was quite hot... Is the air conditioning not working properly? Or maybe the ventilation for boiling noodles is weak...

I visited around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday and was seated almost immediately. I ordered the Special Chicken Paitan Ramen (¥1650). The soup was not as thick as typical chicken paitan, with a prominent saltiness and chicken umami flavor. It felt like a rich "chicken salt ramen". Towards the end, when I mixed the foam on top into the soup, the taste completely changed to a rich potage-like flavor. The foam only comes with the special version, so I recommend getting it to enjoy the flavor transformation. The noodles were a perfect match for the soup, being medium-thin. The green onions, onions, and fried onions on top added a nice touch and kept the dish interesting. It was a very delicious ramen worth the ¥1650! Thank you for the meal!

Visited on Sunday afternoon. Arrived a little before opening and there was already a line. Waited in the scorching heat. The ramen may seem like a creative original dish at first glance, but it is clearly based on a solid foundation before adding originality. If someone who doesn't know the basics tries to be original, it's just formless, but if someone who knows the basics adds originality, it's truly groundbreaking! It was a superb ramen that broke the mold!

I had chicken broth. The creamy soup was very delicious. The foam was slightly sweet, allowing you to enjoy a change in flavor, so it seems best to mix it in as you eat. Overall, it was delicious. I was a bit worried at first because there was no line when I passed by (the restaurant was full inside), but I am very satisfied.

[Ramen Afro Beats] (Tokyo, Shinjuku Gyoenmae) - Special Chicken Paitan Ramen: ¥1650 - Special Seafood Paitan Ramen: ¥1650 - Roasted Chashu Rice Bowl: ¥480 Rating: ★★★★☆ 4.1 Visit Date: 08/10/2023 [Noodles] The noodles are thin and straight with a strong aroma. They have a slightly firm texture that stands out even against the flavorful soup. [Soup] The rich but refreshing Paitan soup is whipped in a blender. The Chicken Paitan version has a sweet corn potage-like flavor with a rich chicken aroma. The Seafood Paitan version is a mix of umami flavors, with a taste reminiscent of takoyaki when bonito flakes are added. I prefer the Chicken Paitan over the Seafood Paitan. [Toppings] The chashu was incredibly delicious, with a rare but melt-in-your-mouth tenderness that was impressive. The egg was perfectly cooked with a soft and flavorful yolk. The thinly sliced early red onion was neatly presented and the negi (green onion) was crunchy. [Rice Bowl] The chashu rice bowl topped with a generous amount of bonito flakes was a unique and tasty dish. [Ambience] The restaurant has a chic atmosphere with only counter seating, making it suitable for a date. [Next Visit] I would like to try their tantanmen on my next visit. [Overall] The rich yet refreshing Chicken Paitan soup was incredibly delicious, and the creamy espuma (potato-like) was impressive. All the toppings were delicious as well. The only downside was the staff's rough handling of the dishes, which was a bit distracting. Despite this, I had a satisfying experience and would love to see improvements in this area. The taste is really delicious, the chicken white broth is top-notch. The soup is also rich and smooth because it is blended in a blender. Both types of chicken chashu are delicious, and the flavored egg is rich and perfectly cooked. When it comes to ramen, there is nothing to complain about. However, the only downside is that the interior of the restaurant is scorching hot (especially in the back seats). There is a noodle cooking area at the very back, and it is truly unbearable in front of it. It feels like a sauna. Around 3-4 seats from the very back are almost impossible to eat comfortably. Until about the 6th seat, it would be difficult to fully enjoy the ramen. Since the restaurant is usually crowded and you can't choose your seat, it's a gamble. No matter how delicious it is, if you end up sitting there, you won't want to go back. I'll wait until winter.

Personally, this was the best chicken broth ramen I've ever had. I was surprised by the price of 1400 yen with the seasoned egg at first, but it was so delicious that I was amazed! I loved it. (I've already been back twice). The flavor is rich with a slightly thick and elegant taste. The presentation is also great. The char siu is thinly sliced and semi-raw type, which is also delicious. The egg, even though it costs 200 yen, is so tasty. Overall, it's so delicious that I highly recommend this top-notch ramen shop.
