On the evening of June 18, 2022 (Saturday), I went to dinner with my partner. After watching a test match at Chichibu Palace, we went to Shibuya and walked towards Kamiyama direction to try out this restaurant. It's a place we both really like and we even hosted a Bossa Nova party here before. It had been almost 10 years since our last visit. Today, we decided to go back for a specific reason. This restaurant is known for attracting overseas celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Jack Johnson, Norah Jones, and Dan Carter. We knew that Dan Carter was in Tokyo today, so we thought he might come to this place, and that's one of the reasons we decided to revisit after so long.
We wanted to dine at the "Main" section, but it was fully booked, so we were seated at the "Pipe" area on the right side. We ordered draft beer, a mini assortment of sashimi for two (2,100 yen), and tuna collar spare ribs (1,320 yen). The sashimi included fatty tuna, lean tuna, madai, hirame, seared sawara, aori ika, and kanpachi. It was delicious, especially with the thick cuts of fish enhancing the flavor. The tuna collar spare ribs with black vinegar sauce were also quite tasty. We were informed of a seasonal menu item, tempura-fried corn, which we also ordered and enjoyed. We had five glasses of draft beer between the two of us, and the total bill came to 9,152 yen, slightly higher than we expected due to the prices being pre-tax.
Despite the cost, the food was as delicious as ever, and the restaurant maintained its high standards. By the way, the woman who introduced me to this place was around the same age as me, maybe a little older. She brought me to this restaurant during a casual night out in Shibuya. During that time, I shared a story about the night I saw the most shooting stars in my life. It was on August 12, 1985, when I was a second-year university student working night shifts at a subcontractor factory to save money for a trip to Hokkaido. That night, I saw an unusually high number of shooting stars while taking a break outside and smoking cigarettes. The woman then revealed that she was supposed to be on the JAL flight that crashed that night, but she changed to a direct flight to Fukuoka at the last minute, narrowly avoiding the tragedy. She had more to the story, but it's a tale for another time. Today's new COVID-19 cases were 1,681 in Tokyo, 1,268 in Okinawa, and 1,255 in Osaka, totaling 14,822 nationwide.
