A stylish restaurant serving Edo-style cuisine was discovered on a street near Asakusa Station on the Tsukuba Express. The atmosphere was great, and the food was described as having strong flavors that pair well with alcohol. We sat at the counter on the first floor, where we could see the chefs at work. We started with a delicious clam and garlic soy sauce appetizer for 380 yen. For drinks, we tried the recommended sparkling jabara sake for 640 yen. We ordered a sashimi assortment for 1180 yen, which included tuna, cured mackerel, marinated tuna, grilled octopus, and cold Spanish mackerel. The seasoning on the fish was excellent, and the tuna belly was huge and delicious. We also tried the minced horse mackerel with green pepper for 780 yen, which had a nice kick to it. The fish was fresh and the miso added a good flavor. We then enjoyed a variety of small dishes for 1680 yen, including fuki miso, kombu with baby scallops, scallop string simmered in soy sauce, Spanish mackerel and bamboo shoot pickled in vinegar, and dried radish potato salad. The potato salad was particularly tasty, with the flavor of the dried radish complementing the lightly seasoned potatoes. Next, we tried the grilled bamboo shoot with young sprouts for 780 yen, which had a nice charred flavor. The bamboo shoot was fresh and delicious. The grilled conger eel with white miso for 1480 yen was served with sautéed burdock root. The eel was easy to eat since it was already sliced, and it tasted great with a dab of wasabi. We also had the rolled tuna and smoked herring for 980 yen, a fancy roll combining tuna sashimi with smoked herring. The fatty flavors were delicious. We ended the meal with a bowl of seaweed soup for 380 yen. Sitting at the counter allowed us to see the chefs at work, and the variety of sake options was impressive. The staff were helpful in recommending sake that paired well with our dishes. This restaurant is worth visiting, and we wished there was one closer to our neighborhood. The second floor had spacious tatami seating and sofa seats, which also looked appealing.

On this day, I went to the restaurant with my husband for the second time. We arrived right at the opening time, 5:00 PM on a weekday, and sat at the counter. The chef kept us company and we had a great conversation. He was of the same generation, cynical yet calm, and very interesting to talk to. We started with sour cocktails, then tried all 10 types of limited edition sake. Not satisfied, we also tried the regular sake menu (which made the bill per person quite high). The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great. I forgot to take pictures of the dishes we ordered besides the ones shown here. The restaurant is close by, so we will definitely go back! Thank you for the wonderful meal! *Smoking, including heated tobacco products, is only allowed outside. There is a tatami area on the second floor and a semi-private sofa set for four people (the cozy atmosphere there is irresistible).

It's a traditional Japanese house with a lovely exterior. I was seated in the second-floor tatami room. The staff were friendly and provided great service. When I asked for recommendations, they suggested both the restaurant's specialty and their personal favorite, showing their great hospitality. The food and drinks were delicious, perfect for those who enjoy drinking. Although I can't handle much sake, the recommended one was so good that it was gone by the next day. I definitely want to visit again.

Entering the store, you can feel the old folk house atmosphere. The historic appearance is like a souvenir shop on a journey. The menu is one page long, with grilled, fried, and various side dishes. I have to order my favorite Shishito peppers for sure. The dashimaki tamago, young ayu with sansho pepper, and katsuo sashimi salad are all delicious. I want to savor a solid drink while slowly enjoying these dishes. I had about two glasses of beer and sake. The quality of the tempura is quite good. And wow, the seaweed roll at the end is so delicious. Each dish shows attention to detail. I will definitely come back.

I've been curious about this restaurant for a while. I happened to pass by and peeked inside, and it seemed like I could enter, so I decided to go in about 40 minutes before last order. The atmosphere inside the restaurant was calm and it was a good space to enjoy sake leisurely. The appetizer was a spicy and flavorful marinated konjac, showing their enthusiasm to get you drinking from the start. The miso that came with the assorted fresh vegetables was delicious, making the sake go down smoothly. The long green pepper was the first of the year for me. When I was in Kyoto, I used to eat them often as they were easy to get, but in Tokyo, they are considered a luxury item. It had been a while since I had a large long green pepper, and I was satisfied. The sashimi, assorted plate, and horse mackerel namero were all very delicious. In particular, the marinated tuna and slightly aged sea bream were both deeply flavorful and delicious. The pickled daikon was also meticulously prepared, impressing me once again. The sea bream rolled in soup stock was, needless to say, filled with the rich flavor of sea bream stock. The deep-fried pike conger was served with wasabi salt instead of sauce, enhancing the strong flavor of the pike conger. The grilled Pacific herring with sansho pepper surprised both my husband and me. It seemed to have been soaked in some kind of aging liquid beforehand, giving the initial impression of tasting like a juicy miso-grilled dish, but when eaten with the grated daikon, the unique flavor of the herring came through, making it feel like we were eating the herring's belly cut. It was incredibly delicious. If the types of fish change with the seasons, I would love to try other fish as well. The grilled ayu fish would probably be outstanding too. We were short on time and already full, so we didn't have the closing dish, but the grilled rice ball finished on the charcoal grill in front of us looked very appetizing. My husband enjoyed several types of limited edition sake, while I could only watch enviously since I had to refrain from drinking for a while. Nonetheless, we had a wonderful time. It's close by, so I definitely want to visit again. Thank you for the meal.

If you are looking for a cozy izakaya with a main focus on fish in a traditional downtown atmosphere, I recommend this place. The seating on the second floor is dimly lit, giving off a nostalgic vibe. It's not a fancy restaurant, but rather has a charming old-town feel. The fish dishes are decently tasty and the drinks are average. It's a good choice if you want an izakaya that doesn't feel too Tokyo-like.

This popular restaurant is a renovated traditional Japanese house with a wide variety of sake. The atmosphere is charming and the sake and food are delicious. If you plan on drinking a lot with 3 or more people, the all-you-can-drink option is highly recommended. Ordering individual sake can be a bit expensive, ranging from 980 yen to 1,380 yen per serving. I made the mistake of ordering individual sake without thinking and ended up drinking only beer to save money, but it still ended up being more expensive than the all-you-can-drink course. On the other hand, the 6,050 yen all-you-can-drink option for all types of sake plus 10 dishes was quite a good deal. The food is tasty but the portions are on the smaller side. The second floor has tatami seating with semi-private rooms where you can relax. While online reservations are only available from 5 pm, you can call and reserve a table starting from 1 pm. Payment can be made in cash, credit card, or PayPay.

A traditional Japanese house in Asakusa West. About 8 minutes on foot from Tahara-cho Station. Chose the all-you-can-drink course for 5500 yen! There were about 5 types of sake, and the beer was also delicious. When you order sake, they also bring you water. The dishes showed attention to detail and were all delicious. The staff were all friendly, creating a wonderful atmosphere. It seems like it's better to make a reservation for early hours. Many people tried to come in, but they were all turned away.

This is a fish-focused izakaya located near Hachihabaashi. I visited on the second day of the Sanja Festival around 3:00 PM with my husband. We were seated in a lovely semi-private room because it was available. I only took a photo of a 5-item appetizer platter because we drank a lot and forgot to take more pictures. However, I enjoyed it so much that I already have a reservation to go back at the end of this month. This is definitely a great restaurant worth revisiting!

"Kameya Kazuchi" is a charming restaurant located on the Higashi Asakusa Hachiman-dori, which used to be a kimono store built 65 years ago. The name of the restaurant is derived from the ancient thunder god "Takemikazuchi" who has been watching over the town of Asakusa since ancient times. The restaurant exudes a Showa retro atmosphere, offering delicious food and drinks. The place is likely to be appreciated by both inbound tourists and fans of traditional Japanese architecture due to its unique sense of style. I enjoyed delicious food and sake in this nostalgic setting. Thank you for the feast.

I added a premium all-you-can-drink option to a 10-course meal without a fixed ending! It was around 6000 yen per person. In addition to beer and sours, there are about 30 types of sake available for all-you-can-drink. I particularly liked the "Wind Forest" in the photo.

First visit! The atmosphere inside the store is nice. They have a wide variety of sake, and the staff will help you select one if you're not sure what to order. The small dishes menu is great. It's a good time to sip on sake and nibble on small dishes!

I really love this place!!! You should sit at the counter! You can watch them make the food right in front of you while enjoying some drinks. The chef recommended some delicious sake and snacks, creating a fun and happy atmosphere. The ankimo (monkfish liver) simmered in soy sauce was delicious.

Tokyo: Asakusa / Sakazuki Kazuchi. "Warm the past and know the new" Japanese food. A very lovely concept. A charming izakaya in Asakusa with a fantastic atmosphere. The first floor has a cozy feel with a traditional Japanese vibe! Take off your shoes and head upstairs to find incredibly beautiful private tatami rooms. It feels like stepping back in time. The staff are all amazing and friendly, even offering a baby bouncer for my friend's baby. Is this place heaven? (laughs) The food is mainly Edo-style and local dishes, all delicious and loved by everyone. Everything is so delicious!! The drinks are great too!! Everything embodies the concept of learning from the past and embracing the new. I had such a wonderful time with my beloved friends.

"Kazuchi is a wonderful old folk house izakaya with a concept of combining tradition and innovation. The first floor has a dirt floor while the second floor has private rooms with tatami mats, creating a nostalgic Japanese atmosphere. The food consists of Edo-style dishes and local specialties, all of which are incredibly delicious. The service was also fantastic, with attentive and considerate staff. I'm grateful to my friend who made the reservation and introduced me to this amazing restaurant."

It's been quite a while since I visited. I think the last time was during the state of emergency last year. The members were fun, and I had a good time with the cute girls. We left the food choices to the girls, and the sashimi was delicious, we finished everything.

A cozy izakaya along the Kappabashi Hon-dori street, connecting Asakusa and Kappabashi. The sake and dishes looked delicious, and I had been curious about this place from Instagram. The restaurant was bustling and almost full, but I managed to slide into a seat at the counter. The interior seemed to be renovated from an old folk house, with exposed wooden beams and sliding doors that exuded a sense of history. In front of me were dishes beautifully presented on large plates. I found it hard to choose from the menu, so I just pointed to what I wanted. I ordered a hot sake "Yamazuki" which was crisp yet had a sweet emphasis due to being served warm. The three dish platter cost 1,080 yen. 1) Scallops simmered in soy sauce. The flavor was rich, sweet and salty, with a strong scallop aroma. I could eat this all day. 2) Salmon in Nanban sauce. This dish caught my eye and was incredibly delicious. The Nanban sauce had just the right amount of acidity, complementing the tender salmon perfectly. 3) Potato salad with dried daikon radish. The crunchy texture of the dried daikon radish added an interesting touch to this Japanese-style potato salad. It was not heavy on mayonnaise and was a unique dish that I would like to try making at home. The firefly squid with vinegar miso for 750 yen was unexpectedly different but still tasty. The squid, salmon roe, and crunchy texture (perhaps from yam?) coated in vinegar miso made for a satisfying dish. Although the squid was a bit too cold, everything else was delicious. The edamame was a must-order and did not disappoint. The seaweed soup at the end was also excellent. I had been enjoying the hot sake so much that I only remembered the first brand of sake I had. The staff were all friendly with lovely smiles, creating a great atmosphere. They were energetic but not loud, giving off a different vibe from Shibuya. The traditional interior added a touch of old-town charm, making it a great place for adults to enjoy a night out together. (Reservations recommended!)

Today, I visited this restaurant in Asakusa for dinner after a long time. The restaurant is housed in a traditional Japanese house in Asakusa, and the welcoming atmosphere immediately drew me in! My friend had already arrived, and I was just two minutes late. As the name suggests, there are cute hand towels called "sakazuki" placed on the tables. The variety of sake available is a delight for sake lovers. They offer banquet courses and evening drink courses, but tonight I want to enjoy the restaurant's specialty dishes. The dishes I selected for tonight's dinner are as follows: Appetizer: Garlic and soy sauce-marinated clams Sashimi platter: Fatty tuna, cured mackerel, fresh octopus, marinated tuna, vinegared mackerel Chibi platter: Fuki miso, kelp with eggs, simmered shellfish, marinated mackerel and bamboo shoots, dried radish potato Grilled bamboo shoots with sansho pepper Grilled conger eel with miso Torogakko roll Miso soup with seaweed I started with a draft beer from the menu, and to my surprise, it was Asahi Super Dry! I had heard it was popular and hard to find, so I was thrilled to see it on the menu. The appetizer of garlic and soy sauce-marinated clams paired perfectly with the beer. The sashimi and marinated dishes were fresh and delicious. The chibi platter was a great accompaniment to the drinks, with a slightly salty taste that was just right. Each dish had its own unique flavors that complemented each other well. The grilled bamboo shoots with sansho pepper had a refreshing taste, and the grilled conger eel with miso was a standout dish. The Torogakko roll was a creative combination of tuna and smoked herring, and it was delightful. The miso soup was a comforting end to the meal. Overall, the restaurant, housed in a renovated traditional building, served meticulously prepared dishes that were both delicious and satisfying. The blend of traditional and modern elements made for a unique dining experience. I also learned that they have another branch in Ebisu, which I am now curious to visit.

This place is located near Asakusa Station on the Tsukuba Express, close to Asakusa Temple and Kaminarimon, as well as Kappabashi Dougu Street. It's conveniently located near the Nishi-Asakusa 3-chome bus stop, which is frequently used by the local buses in Taito Ward from Ueno Station. The atmosphere of the restaurant is retro, with a lot of history evident in the interior. The traditional Japanese seating and furnishings add to the excitement. I sat on the retro-modern sofa on the second floor, but all the seats are lovely. This place is perfect for a girls' night out or a romantic date for couples who enjoy drinking. The dishes are all perfect for pairing with alcohol, with flavors that are bold but not overpowering, highlighting the delicious ingredients. The use of dried fish like kelp and bonito in dishes like konbu-shime and grilled fish is unique to Japanese cuisine. Fermented foods like homemade spicy miso pair well with fermented sake. I tried various dishes, and the marinated tuna in the sashimi platter was delicious with a rich texture and savory soy sauce flavor. The scallop konbu-shime had a crispy outer layer that added a nice flavor. The assortment of 5 different flavors in the otsumami platter was a delight to try with each one complementing the sake perfectly. The mackerel nanban-zuke was refreshing, while the ankimo simmered in sauce was rich and flavorful. The cucumber with abalone liver had no hint of liver smell and was simply delightful. The fried oysters with ponzu sauce were delicious, and the grilled shirako with kelp soy sauce had a nice balance of flavors. The duck miso marinade and grilled negi with shimofuri onion were also exceptional. The yellowtail collar seasoned with sansho pepper had a rich and fatty texture that was a delight to savor. The sake selection was recommended by the staff and included seasonal limited edition varieties that were unique and enjoyable to compare while sipping from small cups. The Kasago simmered fish paired well with the Shiki Hatsu-sawa oriragami nama sake, leaving a lasting impression. For the finale, I had the rolled toro pickled daikon and miso soup with seaweed. The rice is made from special cultivation rice from Hiroshima. Overall, the restaurant, the dishes, and the service were all unique and memorable. I highly recommend this place and would love to visit again soon. However, it tends to get quite crowded, so making a reservation in advance is recommended.

I had a bit of sashimi and a hearty boiled fish dish. Whenever I go, I can enjoy fish and sake. It's a popular spot that tends to get crowded, located a little walk from Asakusa Temple towards Kappabashi, so it's calm and comfortable. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is nice, and if you like fish dishes and sake, you can't go wrong here.

This cozy small dishes restaurant in a great atmosphere is located in a renovated old Japanese house. As soon as you step inside, you are greeted with a warm and nostalgic space, complete with sunken kotatsu tables, semi-private rooms, tatami seating, and traditional low tables. They offer a all-you-can-drink sake course starting from 5000 yen for 2 hours, which includes a selection of delicious sake and 10 accompanying dishes. The dishes are all amazing and perfect for sake lovers, such as seared cod roe, tempura of shirako and maitake mushrooms, maguro sashimi with grated yam, grilled shishito peppers with miso, marinated oysters, and toro maki with peanuts. Before you know it, you'll find yourself extending the all-you-can-drink option and enjoying the cozy atmosphere for almost 4 hours. I sat at the counter on the first floor this time, but I definitely want to try the second floor next time. Check out their Instagram for more information and beautiful photos of their dishes!
