I had some business near Sengakuji Temple, so I visited the ramen shop for a late lunch. Since it was already late, there were only a few customers, about two. I ordered the Max Shoyu Ramen and also asked for some rice, which was complimentary. I like to sprinkle grated garlic on the rice and wrap seaweed around it before dipping it in the soup. This is my favorite way to enjoy it. I have only been to Ikkakuya and Machida Shoten for ramen before, and honestly, I can't tell much difference in taste. Maybe the only difference is in the customer service. I think Machida Shoten has better customer service. Sengakuji Temple was a bit lacking in energy. Since I don't really understand the taste differences, I tend to go to places with better customer service.

When I bought a ticket at the vending machine and sat down, the staff immediately came over and asked, "What are your preferences?" This was my first time at Machida Shouten, so I was a little flustered. I ordered my noodles to be firm, the flavor to be light, and the oil amount to be normal. I saw online that it was described as salty, so even though it was my first time, I went with a lighter flavor. The ramen arrived quickly, probably because I requested firm noodles. It wasn't actually that light in flavor. I think I could even eat it with rice. I'm curious about how light the normal flavor is. Maybe I didn't need the firm noodles after all, normal might have been fine. They offered free onions, so I added some from the counter and it added a refreshing and delicious touch.

Sometimes I crave for a good home-style ramen, but since it's hot outside, I opted for tsukemen instead. I added the Gold tier bonus quail egg as a topping, along with a side of rice as a service. I mixed grated garlic and chopped green onions into the dipping sauce to make it hearty, and enjoyed it. Thank you for the meal.

After my eldest daughter's practice exam, we went to Machida Shoten Izumigaoka-ji Ekimae store. We asked if they had cold noodles, and they said they had tsukemen. We ordered the "tsukemen" and the "special tsukemen", choosing the special for one and splitting the toppings in half. We opted for cold noodles since they offered both hot and cold. We were lucky to find seats at the counter, but the place was crowded with families due to the nationwide joint exam nearby. Some customers had to wait outside after writing their names and purchasing tickets from the machine. The noodles were slightly thick and matched well with the rich soup. The sign outside mentioned that the soup was very rich, and it was indeed quite salty. However, it was a good match for the scorching heat. The chashu was delicious on its own, and the bowl also had cabbage and bean sprouts. My daughter, who loves tsukemen, also enjoyed the meal. Thank you for the delicious meal! #Izumigaoka-ji gourmet #Izumigaoka-ji lunch #Izumigaoka-ji ramen #Izumigaoka-ji Ekimae #Machida Shoten #Machida Shoten Izumigaoka-ji #tsukemen #tonkotsu ramen #fish and tonkotsu ramen #ramen lover #noodle lover

On the slope leading from Sengakuji Temple to Sengakuji Station, there is a ramen shop with a particularly striking sign. They serve ramen with medium-thick noodles and a flavorful but not heavy broth. The cost performance is good, and the interior of the shop is clean. With the redevelopment in front of Takanawa Gateway Station, it is expected that other trendy restaurants will open, but this local ramen shop will continue to be loved by local high school students and office workers.

I was lured by the triple points day promotion and decided to try the salt ramen priced at 750 yen, which is usually not my choice as I always go for the soy sauce ramen. I handed my ticket to the staff, requested firm noodles with extra eggs and a small portion of rice, and took my seat. Despite it being only 11:05 AM, there were already 4 customers ahead of me and more coming in. The effect of the triple points day was impressive. My ramen arrived in about 5 minutes. I added plenty of finely chopped onions for a healthy touch and some ginger. I mixed everything well and took a sip of the soup. It was refreshing and quite enjoyable. I savored the rice with quail eggs and dipped the seaweed in the soup before wrapping it around the rice. Delicious! I used 3 out of the 6 quail eggs and 3 seaweed sheets as toppings. The noodles, despite being ordered firm, were closer to normal texture. I also asked for extra pork fat, but I think the regular amount would have been better. Nevertheless, the salt flavor was delicious, and I finished the noodles and drank all the soup. It was a satisfying meal!

Chuumachida Shouten! I had been wanting to visit any of their stores for a while, and finally made it one Sunday afternoon to the Izumigataji Station store, just a 15-minute walk from my home. I ordered "Ramen/750 yen", "Spinach/100 yen", "5 sheets of seaweed/100 yen" from the ticket machine. I chose my usual style of "firm, rich, regular". I also got a free half portion of rice between 11:00 and 18:00 on any day of the week. The soup was quite mild even though I chose it to be rich. To add some impact, I immediately added grated garlic from the table. I soaked the spinach and seaweed in the garlic-based soup before eating. The noodles were not the usual Sakai Seimen noodles but homemade low-water noodles. They had a good elasticity and interesting texture, which may be the secret to Chuumachida Shouten's popularity. The noodles left a stronger impression than the soup. I topped the half rice with the pork belly roll chashu from the ramen and seasoned it with 2 teaspoons of chili bean paste from the table. The spicy meat rice was delicious, eaten while sipping the ramen soup. It was a double delight in one bite, making me feel like I got a great deal. With the increased spinach and seaweed, I also got my vitamins and felt satisfied. The nutrition balance was unexpectedly good, right? The service was energetic and the staff were friendly, making it a great place for casual dining. This area lacks dining options, so I am grateful for its presence.

It had been a while since my son and I visited this place together. Lately, my son has been obsessed with miso ramen, so he ordered that. I went for the classic ramen with seasoned egg and a side of rice. Today, we also added some gyoza. The gyoza here is crispy on the outside and filled with lots of vegetables, which I love. Everything was delicious as always! Thank you for the meal!

It was my first visit since September last year. Last week, when I tried to go, there were already about 10 people waiting, so I gave up. But today, there was no wait. It had been a while, so I ordered the MAX ramen with quail egg topping and rice. I put a little doubanjiang and grated garlic on the rice, sprinkled plenty of sesame seeds, rolled it in nori soaked in soup, and...I'm hooked on this. Of course, I also enjoyed the ramen soup thoroughly today!

Recently, there has been an increase in chain restaurants specializing in "家系ラーメン" (kakkei ramen, a type of ramen with a rich and thick soup base). Among them, this place stands out for its relatively mild soup. I happened to pass by today and decided to have lunch there. It was just before noon on a weekday, yet the place was already full. Luckily, I was able to get a seat quickly due to the turnover. It really shows how popular kakkei ramen has become. One good thing about this place is that they offer free rice, which adds to the value. Today, I ordered extra spinach. The soup had a slightly strong saltiness with no overpowering flavors, although I wish the chicken oil was a bit richer. Overall, the balance was good and I enjoyed my meal. Thank you for the delicious food.

Saturday lunch was ramen. There were a few empty seats before 1 pm, but soon there were 2-3 groups waiting. Some students nearby came in a group. I ordered ramen for 720 yen with extra noodles and normal oil. I tried to get a free topping by installing the app, but I couldn't do it successfully. The ramen had a rich soup with a good amount of toppings like chashu, 3 pieces of seaweed, and spinach neatly arranged, and a quail egg which was a nice touch. The noodles were firm and smooth. I sprinkled some sesame seeds for a flavor change, and wrapped the rice with seaweed for a bite. The only downside was that the rice bowl was sticky with oil, making my left hand greasy. The young female staff was energetic and provided pleasant service!

Located a 5-minute walk from Takanawa Gateway Station and right by Izumigataji Station, this restaurant is where I ordered ramen and a lemon sour for a total of 990 yen. I appreciate that ordering alcohol didn't push the total over 1000 yen. The flavors were calming and enjoyable. On my way out, the staff came outside to say goodbye, showing their dedication to customer service. There are many Machida Shouten stores popping up lately, and I can see why.

After watching a baseball game, I visited Machida Shoten Izumigataji Station Front Store for ramen as a finishing touch. I ordered the ramen (720 yen). I wanted to order rice as well, learning from the mistake at the Suidobashi store, but it was past 18:12, so it would have been an additional charge... I gave up on it. The ramen was delicious! I finished it all up and got a stamp as well. I would like to visit again after watching baseball!

Hi~. Since the ramen for lunch was delicious, I might go for something a bit lower grade for dinner. I finished work at 9 pm. Now, where should I go? I decided to visit a chain restaurant called "Machida Shouten" operated by the company "Gift". The location is a 2-minute walk from the Toei Asakusa Line "Sengakuji Station". The interior of the restaurant has a counter and table seats. I arrived before 9:30 pm and there were about 5 customers already. There is a ticket machine on the left side after entering. The staff will provide water for you. The place is known for its tonkotsu ramen, but the flavor was a bit lacking compared to other places. The noodles were a bit too soft and lacked texture. The soup was mainly tonkotsu-based with a hint of soy sauce, but it lacked depth and richness. The toppings were average, with the chashu being a bit bland and lacking in flavor. Overall, it was a decent meal but nothing outstanding.

After a long time, I had "Kanmaku Iccho" ramen. As a ramen lover who has tried various types, I feel like I have been drifting away from the so-called "Yokohama-style ramen" as I get older. Whether it's the soy sauce base or the richness of the oil, this genre of ramen tends to have a strong flavor. It may not be a privilege of the young, but gradually my body has been less tolerant of it. However, there are times when I crave it uncontrollably. I ordered the "Ramen" (720 yen) as shown in the photo. I customized it with "normal noodle firmness, normal flavor strength, and extra oil." Despite saying that, I always end up adding more oil when it comes to Yokohama-style ramen. For me, the abundance of chicken oil is what defines this style, and that's the feeling I seek when visiting. Although I'm not sure about the current situation, this shop is likely to be right in the middle of what is known as the "Machida Shoten style" within the Yokohama genre. There is also a "Ikebukuro Shoten" in my local area of Ikebukuro West Exit, but I found the soy sauce base there to be slightly lighter than here. The base pork bone soup is meticulously and smoothly cooked, which is great. This shop also has a variety of table condiments. The raw onions and white sesame are delicious. Kanmaku Iccho. Thank you for the meal. (By Kyonatsu Shuusora, 4/27/2022) (9 reviews, average rating 3.07)

I wanted to eat a refreshing style of ramen, so I headed to Ramen Toki, but there was a sign saying "Closed for the state of emergency." I couldn't satisfy my hunger without eating ramen, so I went to this nearby restaurant. It's a different style, more of a home-style ramen. It was delicious, especially with added garlic. The chashu and half-boiled egg were also good. Next, I will go to Toki and try to compare the two. The differences may be too big to compare...

I visited the newly opened branch of the Kamata Ramen chain in Sengakuji. As far as I know, they serve standard house-style ramen with various toppings available. The staff always greets you with a smile, which creates a pleasant atmosphere. I believe they put a lot of effort into training their employees.

A new house-made ramen shop near Izumigatake Station. The ramen features a pork bone soy sauce broth with spinach, chashu, seaweed, and quail egg on top. You can customize the firmness of the noodles, richness of the soup, and amount of fat. I ordered the classic style with extra flavor and firm noodles. It was a pretty average house-made ramen.

During the state of emergency due to the novel coronavirus, I usually cook my own dinner, but by the weekend, my food stock runs low. Shopping at the nearby supermarket where social distancing is difficult increases the risk of infection, so I decided to visit a family-owned ramen shop that has implemented proper infection control measures. I visited the newly opened "Machida Shoten Izumigakiji Station Front Store" near the newly opened "Takanawa Gateway Station" located between JR Tamachi Station and Shinagawa Station last year. The nearest station is the Toei Asakusa Line Izumigakiji Station, which is only about 300 meters away from "Takanawa Gateway Station". The reason why it is called "Takanawa Gateway" instead of "JR Takanawa Station" is simple, to avoid confusion with other stations. In fact, there is a station called "Takanawadai" one station before Izumigakiji Station on the down line of the Toei Asakusa Line, so to prevent confusion, they made it clear by adding the katakana "Gateway" to the name. On February 20, 2021 (Saturday) around 4:35 PM, I visited for the first time. According to the pre-research on Tabelog, the all-you-can-eat rice was until 5 pm, but when I bought the meal ticket on the left side of the entrance, there was a notice that the all-you-can-eat rice was until 6 pm. The default ramen price including tax is 720 yen, and when combined with the all-you-can-eat rice until 6 pm, it is very impressive considering the high-class location of the area. There were three other customers, and I, a male employee in his early twenties, ordered the noodles to be boiled for 7 minutes and the all-you-can-eat rice until 6 pm, and requested an extra quail egg with the presentation of the Machida Shoten smartphone app's permanent passport. I was guided to a counter seat with acrylic dividers for each seat, so I could eat comfortably. The noodles were cooked perfectly to my desired softness, and the soup was well-balanced without any overwhelming creaminess, making it easy to eat and quite delicious. The all-you-can-eat rice until 6 pm was served in a small bowl, so I had one refill and finished it off. I received a digital stamp on my smartphone card and left the restaurant. That was my experience at "Machida Shoten Izumigakiji Station Front Store"!
