Today, I had dinner with a friend at a restaurant known for its sashimi, as my friend is a foreigner who loves Japanese culture. We started with ordering a draft beer and enjoyed the steamed clams served as an appetizer. The clams were cooked perfectly, with a rich flavor that allowed us to fully appreciate the taste of the shellfish. Next, we ordered shallot tempura. The tempura had a unique taste, similar to green onions, but the balance of the thick batter and the strong flavor and texture of the vegetable was surprisingly good. Then, we tried the specialty dish called "tamatebako," where sashimi is presented in a decorative box. It was a traditional presentation that impressed my foreign friend and made them very happy. The sashimi assortment included bonito, young yellowtail, red snapper, bluefin tuna, scallop, sea bream, and raw minced fish, which was luxurious and delicious. The bonito was thickly sliced without any fishy smell, and had a strong umami flavor. The red snapper had a delicate white flesh with a subtle and delicious taste. The bluefin tuna, scallop, and sea bream were all expertly prepared and showcased their deliciousness. The raw minced fish had a perfect balance of fish and miso flavors, making it a delicate and exquisite dish. We switched to highballs after the sashimi, as it paired well with the smooth texture of the dishes. We then tried the crispy fried oysters, which had a crunchy coating while still retaining the flavorful taste of the oysters. It was my favorite type of fried oysters, with a hint of seaweed flavor that I enjoyed. Lastly, we had a gratin with sea urchin and salmon roe, which was a fantastic dish that impressed us with its high quality and unique flavors. Overall, the food was meticulously prepared, delicious, and offered great value for money, allowing us to enjoy a variety of dishes and drinks with peace of mind. It was a great experience hosting my foreign friend and I felt that this is a restaurant I would like to visit again in the future.
