On a normal day, I arrived a few minutes before the opening time of 11:00 AM at the restaurant with two friends. However, the restaurant did not open promptly at 11:00 AM, causing us to wait until 11:12 AM to enter. This delay, without any word of apology, left a negative impression on us as customers. The staff seemed to lack respect towards the customers, even though the Twitter account of the restaurant indicated the correct opening time. Despite the initial service hiccup, the chicken and vegetable curry that we ordered was quite delicious. It had a nice spicy kick with well-cooked chicken and broccoli. The side of cabbage and onion achar complemented the curry perfectly. Overall, the curry was to our liking, despite the initial delay in service. The owner, who was serving customers, was very polite, but it seemed that the other staff members needed better training in customer service. Hopefully, the restaurant will improve on their punctuality in the future.

Today I visited this restaurant.
Saba Keema - 1,020 yen
Cheese topping - 160 yen
I ordered it spicy and in a large portion. It was moderately spicy. The keema had just the right amount of moisture, and the combination of mackerel and spices was excellent. The texture of the spices added a nice touch. The cheese topping added a slight heaviness. The pickled ginger among the leafy greens was a great accent and very delicious.

Today is an alcohol-free day (I decided for myself). It was steamy during the day, so I thought about going to a regular bar, but I was still drawn to the curry shop. This shop is my favorite and I visit it often. When I entered the shop, surprisingly there were empty seats, and I felt like having my usual curry. I ordered the chicken curry, large serving, extra spicy, with plenty of achaar. It's my usual order, but as long as I have this, I can make it through without beer, haha. I ate deliciously as always, and left with a smile on my face.

Mackerel Keema Curry - 1,020 yen
Cheese topping - 160 yen
First visit. A small shop located near Takadanobaba Station, along the Seibu line tracks. There are 6 counter seats. No door at the entrance, just a transparent vinyl curtain to walk through. It feels like a food stall. Purchased a ticket at the vending machine. Cash only. Only accepts 1,000 yen bills. Ordered the popular Mackerel Keema based on word of mouth. Added cheese topping. Ordered it spicy. When the mackerel keema curry arrived, it looked delicious! It had a fragrant scent of cumin. The taste exceeded my expectations! I could really taste the mackerel while enjoying the spicy curry flavor. The cheese topping was a good choice. They offer free extra servings, but I stuck with a regular portion. Even then, it was quite filling. I'm glad I found this great restaurant.

Today, I aimed to have a non-alcohol day by having an early dinner and going to bed early. I came to my usual Brother's place! I heard they're closed at night on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so I get a craving for curry on Thursdays. If there was a sign saying "Closed today," I'd be sad. I wonder where I'd go then. Feeling a mix of anxiety and anticipation, I arrived at a place with bright interior lamps! Oh, thank you. I can still have my favorite chicken curry, extra spicy and extra large, today. It was worth coming this far. They have achar too, so all that's left is to eat. Munch munch munch munch. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. Ideally, I'd prefer Mondays and Fridays off at night (laughs). But, I'll come again.

On this day, on the way to Ikebukuro, I got off at Takadanobaba and headed to this place I wanted to go to. They are famous for their saba keema curry, and I really wanted to try it. When I arrived around 12:30, there were already customers inside and the seating was limited, so I had to wait. However, they use a food ticket system and cook efficiently, so the turnover is not bad. To avoid inconveniencing the neighboring ticket shop, it's better to wait a bit. If you're alone, you can get a seat smoothly, but if you're in a group of two, it might be a bit challenging as the counter seats are in an L shape with space for three people. Once you buy your ticket, the proprietress will come to get it, and she will cook the food based on the available seats and the customers in the store. The food is served relatively quickly once you are seated because the cooking process is not complicated. One thing that personally made me very happy was that they provided cloth hand towels. Even though the prices are not high, just having paper napkins would have been fine, but it shows the thoughtfulness of the restaurant. The curry is based on saba (mackerel) canned in water, blended with spices. Though the spiciness is from medium to mild, it might not be spicy enough for those who prefer a stronger kick. It has a hint of fishiness from the saba and a solid spice flavor. Powdered spices are sprinkled on top as a finishing touch, and additional spices are provided on the side. The side dish of cool potato salad complements the heat of the curry well. The curry comes with free extra rice, so you can adjust your portion accordingly. The saba keema curry costs 1020 yen, which is reasonable compared to the increasing prices of ramen chain restaurants these days. The quality at such places often doesn't justify the price hike, so I appreciate this reasonably priced option. Despite the limited seating and not-so-great environment, I would definitely be a regular if this restaurant were in my neighborhood.

On a regular day at 12:00, there were 2 people waiting outside. The inside of the restaurant is small but cute. When ordering at the ticket machine, they asked about the amount of rice and spiciness level. This time, I chose normal for both. You can probably get a larger portion for free if you choose the larger size. The food was served in about 10 minutes. There was a good amount of cilantro sprinkled on top which enhanced the visual appeal. The combination of mackerel and spices was exquisite. Cilantro was a nice accent. If I had to nitpick, I would say that it could have been spicier, but that's because I didn't choose the spicy option this time. Next time, I'll go for the spicy one.

I had some errands in Takadanobaba and decided to visit this place to find a delicious restaurant. I was intrigued by the mackerel keema... Everything looked so tasty, and I wanted to have some vegetables but also include meat or fish. In the end, I ordered the shrimp and vegetable curry. The vegetables included lotus root, eggplant, shimeji mushrooms, baby corn, broccoli, and more, all cooked in a flavorful soup curry style. It also came with cabbage and potato salad on top, which was really delicious! I ordered the mildest level of spiciness, but it still had a decent kick to it. I arrived around 7 pm, and it seemed like they were running out of curry as only a couple more servings were left for the night. The interior of the restaurant is small with limited seating at the counter, so it might not be suitable for those looking for a fancy atmosphere, but the food is definitely worth it. I look forward to trying something else next time! Thank you for the meal!

I revisited Brother's, a delicious curry restaurant in front of Takadanobaba Station. I arrived after 5 o'clock, so I was able to enter without waiting. Last time I had the mackerel keema curry, so this time I ordered the chicken vegetable curry with normal rice portion, and requested it to be very spicy. They have pickled radish and onion achar on the table. The rice portion is also free for upsize. Although you can see it in the pictures, there are lots of different vegetables on top along with plenty of chicken. The curry is full of spices. Since the extra hot level wasn't enough for me last time, I went for very spicy this time, and personally I think it's just the right amount of spiciness. Adding to the summer heat, I couldn't stop sweating from my scalp. It's somehow a good match with the pickled radish. Potato salad and cabbage also go well with the curry. With plenty of sauce and lots of ingredients, I might have even been fine with the large rice portion. I thoroughly enjoyed it until the end, and it was very delicious. Thank you for the meal. Thank you very much.

Lunch on 08/10 (Thursday) ... curry rice specialty store Brother ... Mackerel keema for 1,020 yen ... paid in cash ... good service, fast serving, delicious taste, complimentary cold water, good portion size, good cost performance, good wet towel ... Keema itself is good, collaboration with side dishes is good ... I understand the addictive feeling. It's also good that you can specify the amount of rice and spiciness for the same price.

I went there looking for mackerel curry, but I forgot and ended up ordering vegetable curry instead. They offer free extra rice. The vegetable curry was quite delicious, and the pickles on the table were also tasty. I will definitely go back to try the mackerel curry!

I went to Takadanobaba for work and decided to search for a curry restaurant on Tabelog. I found Brother and decided to give it a try. The restaurant only had counter seating for around 6 people, with two people waiting outside in the sun when I arrived. I ordered the chicken curry with regular rice (large serving for free) and chose the spicy level to be hot. The curry was more on the watery side, spicy, and had a rich flavor. On top of the rice, there were potato salad and cabbage pickles. The chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. For only 980 yen, this was a great deal! I will definitely visit again when I come back to Takadanobaba. Truly deserving of being one of the top curry restaurants in 2022! Thank you for the delicious meal!

A foodie lawyer's meal record ★ [Instagram] joy_sound ★ [Tabelog] _ Chrome _ーーーーーーーーーーーーーOnly 1 minute walk from Takadanobaba Station! The high-quality Keema Curry is the best! I visited Brother located just a short walk from Takadanobaba Station. It is listed in Tabelog's Top 100 Curry shops. The restaurant was almost full around 9 p.m. on a weekday. It operates on a ticket system. I ordered the Keema Curry (980 yen) with extra ingredients (300 yen) – I chose to add shrimp. Rice seems to come in a large portion for free, but I opted for a regular serving. After a short wait, the meal arrived. The curry was so generously poured over the rice that the rice was barely visible, making it quite luxurious. The minced meat and shrimp were plentiful and very delicious. The spiciness was just right. I finished it in no time. Thank you for the meal!ーーーーーーーーーーーー Likes, saves, comments are encouraging!!

After years of anticipation, I finally visited a curry shop known for having the most annual visits by a well-known curry expert. I had skipped past it before due to long lines, but this time I arrived before 12 pm, leaving plenty of time before my 1:30 pm appointment in Takadanobaba. I tried to check the expert's recommendation on my phone, but the intense sunlight made it difficult, so I gave up. I decided to go for the vegetable curry, a summer classic, at the top-left corner of the ticket machine. I quickly found a seat at the three-person counter at the entrance.
I ordered the vegetable curry, specifying "normal size" and "spicy." The owner was occupied with a large takeout order on the phone, but I didn't mind waiting at all. As I looked around, the two customers next to me were devouring their keema curry, sweat dripping down their cheeks. It seemed oddly satisfying to eat curry in such hot weather. I noticed the spiciness levels on the table menu and started to wonder which level "spicy" would be. Would it provide the same sweating effect as the others?
I felt hesitant to ask the customers next to me about the spiciness level, so I waited until they finished and asked for "very spicy" when the next customer sat down. I quickly followed suit and changed my order to "very spicy." As I suspected, the previous order was not "very spicy." I wondered if the next levels, like "extremely spicy" and others, could be worth the additional cost, but I decided to save that for another visit.
The curry itself was mildly spiced with prominent cumin seeds. The vegetable pieces had a nice texture in the soup, and everything tasted delicious. I later found out that the expert's recommendation was the mackerel curry, but I was completely satisfied with the vegetable curry. It would have been perfect if the rice was of the Indica variety. All in all, it was a lovely meal.

I was curious about it, so I finally went to the restaurant "Brother" that I had put off. When I arrived at the opening time, there was only one customer ahead of me. I entered the shop and purchased a meal ticket, deciding to try the mackerel keema curry priced at 1,020 yen, which I had been wanting to try. I could also choose the spiciness level of the curry, and this time I chose the maximum spiciness. The shop has only six seats, with three seats near the entrance and three seats in the back right, making it a quite small and narrow shop. At first, the interior seemed very hot, but surprisingly it was quite comfortable probably due to the spot cooler. After a few minutes of waiting, the mackerel keema curry was brought to me. With the first bite, the strong spiciness and the umami flavor of the fish hit me. The combination of mackerel and curry is unbeatable, but I had never tried such a punchy mackerel curry before. The flavor was quite intense, but just right with the rice. I was impressed by how different it was just by using ground meat instead of fish. I finished the meal feeling quite full. The curry that the person two seats away was having smelled really good. It left me with the impression that it could be an addictive curry shop. Now I feel like trying the regular chicken curry or keema curry next time. I definitely want to visit this place again. Thank you for the meal.

***Summary***
☆The combination of mackerel and curry is the best!
☆Seasoned egg is also delicious!
☆The interior of the restaurant is small and can get hot in the summer.,,
***Details***
I visited this place around 9 pm after finishing work in Takadanobaba. It's true that the restaurant only has 6 seats and it can take a few minutes to several tens of minutes from seating to serving, so the turnover rate isn't that great. (Plus, it's really hot inside due to the heat.) I ordered the mackerel curry with extra rice. (I didn't realize the extra large portion was free, so I ended up buying another meal ticket.) I have had mackerel curry at home before, so I knew it was absolutely delicious. However, it truly lived up to my expectations. Mackerel curry is especially good in the summer. I didn't know many places where you can eat outside, so I'm happy to have found this place for mackerel curry.

This was my third visit to the restaurant. I had ordered the spicy mackerel keema curry on my first and second visits, and since it was delicious, I decided to visit for the third time. This time, I ordered the shrimp curry with extra spiciness. However, it was too spicy. The mackerel keema curry had been just right. After reading other reviews, it seems that the mackerel keema curry is on the sweeter side. Therefore, I recommend avoiding ordering the extra spicy option for anything other than the mackerel keema curry if you don't prefer very spicy food.

After a hot day, in the evening when you can relax, I want to see you again, Brother. Your name, the favorite chicken curry with extra large portion and extra spicy, with the usual generous serving of pickles on Mt. Achar. Just got seated in the valley of customers. Two guests before me. I absentmindedly watch the staff working behind the counter, eagerly waiting for the curry to arrive. When the curry comes, I enjoy eating it. This small restaurant focuses on the curry. Thank you, Brother as always. Lunch only on Wednesdays and Saturdays. I'll come back again.

I visited this place when using Takadanobaba Station for my visit. It was lunchtime and the shop was small with limited seating, but I was able to enter smoothly due to good timing. When I learned about the existence of Mackerel Keema, I was always curious about how mackerel would taste in a Keema curry. The Mackerel Keema was served with pickles and shiso leaves, giving it a touch of Japanese flair. The taste was hard to describe - sweet at first, then spicy. The mackerel had a sweet taste like candied fish, followed by a burst of complex spices. There was no fishy taste, and the mackerel flavor was still distinct despite the strong spices. When eaten with pickles and additional cabbage, along with the onion achar on the table, the taste became even more complex and addictive. The curry was unique and I couldn't stop eating it. The strong spices and saltiness from the cabbage and achar made the overall flavor rich, but drinking water afterwards was surprisingly satisfying. I'm curious about other dishes on the menu, but I might end up ordering the Mackerel Keema again when I revisit. It was that delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I order the Mackerel Keema curry for lunch at a memorable restaurant in Takadanobaba. I chose the large portion of rice and spiciness level "spicy". The curry is filled with plenty of mackerel without any fishy smell, which is impressive. The spices are skillfully used, giving a strong impression of umami and spiciness rather than freshness. The presentation is beautiful, boosting my excitement. It's very popular, so be prepared for a line when you go. Thank you for the meal.

I stumbled upon a delicious-looking curry restaurant near the station gate in Takadanobaba, probably for the first time in many years in Tokyo. They had a Saba Keema Curry on the menu, so I had to try it. I ordered the Saba Keema Curry for 1,020 yen with normal spiciness and it was just right. I was expecting it to taste more fishy, but it actually had a nice flavor of saba without being overpowering. There was some spice sprinkled on top of the curry, but I couldn't identify what it was. I would like to visit again to try other menu items.
