Had lunch at a steakhouse where Ashita no Joe was displayed at the storefront. I hesitated to enter because the entrance was set back and I couldn't see inside at all, but once I went in, I found the place to be reasonably priced, the food was quite tasty, and the service was good, so I ended up going two days in a row. On the first day, I had the lunch special top sirloin steak 150g for 990 yen (tax included). The meat was surprisingly tender and the sauce was a Japanese-style onion sauce. It was delicious, but I preferred eating it with just salt and pepper for more flavor. Rice and soup were self-serve with free refills, and water was also self-serve. The bowl for the rice was quite large, and I almost over-served myself, so it would be nice if they provided smaller bowls for those who eat less. The soup had ingredients like egg and cabbage, making it tasty. The corn side dish didn't have much flavor, so I ended up eating it with the sauce. The next day, I challenged the Big Steak 240g for 1375 yen (not really a huge portion). Since the 150g from the day before wasn't enough, I decided to splurge a bit. It was a good amount for lunch, but I wished it was a bit more. If they had a 275g option, that would be great. The steak was tender and delicious, and I even think I could handle the 340g portion. I tried the butter sauce this time, and it was delicious. The corn also became buttered corn (laughs). The restaurant had counter seats, tables for 4 people x 3, and a table for 2. Generally, if you're dining alone, you'll be seated at the counter, but they kindly let me use a table for 2 since I was wearing a thick coat. It's really appreciated when they show consideration like that. If it's not too crowded, the steak comes out quite quickly. So, it's safe to serve yourself rice and soup early, but the message "be careful not to serve too early as it might get cold" was a nice touch. I was hesitant to enter because of Ashita no Joe at the storefront, but I'm glad I mustered up the courage to go in. I found that I could eat in peace, and I look forward to going again soon.
