On Saturday at 6 pm, I entered the restaurant. I thought it was a relatively early time so I could get in without waiting, but it was full!!! There were only 2 seats in the waiting area, and some people gave up and left while we were waiting. It seems like many people had made reservations, so it's better to make a reservation for evening use. We waited for about 15 minutes before we could enter! We ordered a half bottle of sparkling wine for 2,700 yen, crab lettuce fried rice for 1,600 yen, mapo tofu for 1,600 yen, and one xiaolongbao for 350 yen. The mapo tofu arrived about 5 minutes after ordering! It was so fast!!! Maybe because it was night time? We were able to order the mapo tofu with extra spiciness! The mapo tofu at Sichuan Hanten is absolutely amazing!!! It has the same delicious taste as the main store. It has depth and a refreshing spiciness. There is no greasiness like in other places, and the balance is just perfect. Once you try the mapo tofu here, you won't be able to eat it anywhere else!!! The crab lettuce fried rice was also delicious! The staff was kind enough to serve it already divided into two portions for us. It had plenty of crab in it and was really tasty! The xiaolongbao was also great with black vinegar. You can order as many as you want, which is convenient! Everything was so delicious! I would love to go there again if I have the chance!!!
I visited a Chinese restaurant in Coredo Nihonbashi because I was craving mapo tofu. I arrived around 5 pm on a weekend and managed to get a table with a one-hour time limit due to almost being fully booked. The mapo tofu was a classic dish with a manageable level of spiciness.

On the last day of the long weekend, I visited for a late lunch. It was around 2:00 PM, and I had to wait for about 15 minutes before entering. I ordered the famous set meal, which almost 90% of people were also ordering. Both the mapo tofu and tantanmen had a generous portion, so I ended up feeling very full. Personally, I didn't really like the tantanmen and found the portion to be too much, so I think I would have been satisfied with just the mapo tofu.

I arrived at the restaurant around 1:00 PM on Saturday. The last order is until 2:30 PM, and the place was quite full, so I'm glad I came early. I've been wanting to visit this famous restaurant for a while. I ordered the special set for 2200 yen. Both the mapo tofu and tantanmen were delicious. I definitely want to come back again.

Mapo tofu set with extra spiciness. Used during weekday lunch time. I love Chen Mapo tofu, and if it's not spicy, I can't eat it (lol). The Mapo tofu with extra spiciness was just right for me. It had a nice level of spiciness and the taste was elegant. The soup was also delicious.

Located very close to Shin-Nihon Station and Mitsukoshimae Subway Station. I made a reservation and was seated at a regular table right away, with efficient service. It was great for entertaining clients. They served the fried rice in small portions which was convenient. I made sure to order the Jumbo Shrimp Chili and Mapo Tofu, which are essential conversation topics. The jumbo shrimp was definitely a generous portion and the Mapo Tofu had just the right amount of spiciness and richness. Everyone was pleased with how delicious it was! The management of the draft beer and wine glasses was excellent, and the service from the moment we entered the restaurant, including the portioning, was of high quality. Personally, I would have liked to have some sweet and sour pork with white rice! Thank you for the delicious meal!

Located on the second floor of Coredo Muromachi 1 in Nihonbashi, this Sichuan restaurant offers dishes like mapo tofu and tantanmen tailored to suit the Japanese palate. The establishment, run by Chen Kenmin, his son Chen Kenichi, and now Chen Kentaro, maintains the traditional flavors. The weekday business lunch is quite reasonable, so it's always crowded. The mapo tofu, served on a simple white plate, features tofu as the main ingredient with minimal meat, green onions, and chili oil. The tofu is soft, with a moderate spiciness and numbing sensation upon first bite, followed by the tingling of Sichuan pepper that leaves you craving for white rice.

Around 11:00 on Saturday, I searched on Tabelog to have lunch in Nihonbashi. They had a great value business lunch set, so I decided to visit this place. There was no wait, so I was able to enter smoothly. However, when I looked at the lunch menu on the table, I realized that the business lunch set was only available on weekdays. I opted for the Mapo Tofu (1,700 yen) with a side of rice (350 yen) and also ordered a beer (700 yen). When I ordered the Mapo Tofu, they asked me about the level of spiciness, and since I have a sensitive stomach, I chose the normal level. The beer arrived quickly, followed by the rice set (rice, soup, pickled vegetables) and the Mapo Tofu about 3 minutes later. They also mentioned that rice refills were available. The Mapo Tofu was delicious, with a perfect balance of spiciness and sweetness that catered to Japanese taste preferences. Even though it was a bit spicy, the staff quickly provided me with a napkin when my nose started running. They were very attentive. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

[Store Overview] On a rainy weekday, arrived at 11:15, with 2 groups waiting outside. Managed to be seated in about 15 minutes. Despite targeting a rainy day during the Bon festival, the place seemed less crowded than usual, but it was still full right at opening, with a waiting list of 6 groups by 11:30. The entrance may be hard to spot, but inside the restaurant is spacious, with over 10 tables. The clientele consisted of mostly elderly individuals, along with tourists, office workers, and families.
[Order] Specialty Set for 2,100 yen (with the mapo tofu at a normal level of spiciness)
[Impressions] The recommended dish is the mapo tofu, which not only delivers a numbing sensation but also allows you to savor the aroma of Sichuan pepper, which is truly outstanding. The silky smooth tofu holds its shape well and the flavors meld together beautifully. While there have been various types of tantanmen introduced over the decades, the original tantanmen developed for the Japanese palate gives a sense of the dish's history. The authentic thin broth is topped with sesame paste to prevent it from mixing in, providing a unique experience. The service was attentive and considerate, truly reflecting the reputation of this longstanding establishment. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I visited with friends. It was my second time here. You can tell that this restaurant is very carefully made. The beef is tender with a refined seasoning. It's not too strong, but still satisfying. I wish I could have had a beer if it wasn't for work! The rice is a bit firm, which is typical of Chinese restaurants. It's a matter of preference, but I prefer it a bit softer. However, you can ask for seconds. The almond tofu was rich yet refreshing, and I finished it in no time (laughs). The staff are so friendly and provide great service, making me want to come back soon! There is another Chinese restaurant upstairs, but I prefer this one.

The place is beautiful and clean. The course included scallop stir-fry, crab balls, sweet and sour pork, mapo eggplant, shrimp and vegetable stir-fry, and a choice of mapo tofu set meal or half tantanmen for dessert. It cost 7,000 yen, but the value for money was not great.

I ordered the specialty set for 2200 yen, which includes tantanmen, mapo tofu, wonton, rice, and zasai. The tantanmen had a creamy flavor, and the mapo tofu was deliciously spicy with a good aroma. The white rice was very satisfying! Although you can add almond jelly for an additional 250 yen, I was too full to order it.

I often visit a Chinese restaurant famous for its mapo tofu, which is delicious, along with other tasty dishes. They offer green and red Sichuan peppercorns for added spiciness. This time, I tried their shrimp chili dish, which was not overly sweet and very delicious. However, I was disappointed to see that the mapo tofu dish was served in a simple black dish instead of the usual ceramic one with a handle, making it look cheap.

In 1958, Chen Kenmin, also known as the father of Sichuan cuisine in Japan, opened a restaurant, which was later taken over by the famous Chen Kenichi. I fell in love with Sichuan cuisine after trying the mapo tofu at Akasaka Szechwan Restaurant. This time, I visited the Colette Muromachi store near Mitsukoshimae. The menu had a special set for 2,100 yen, which included mapo tofu, tantanmen, wonton, zasai, and rice (all-you-can-eat). Personally, I found the tantanmen to be delicious with a mild flavor, but I absolutely loved the mapo tofu! The beloved mapo tofu was just as delicious as at the Akasaka main store, and I am still hooked on it! ❤️

This is my first visit. The interior of the restaurant doesn't feel luxurious, but it's calm and nice. First, I tried the shark fin soup. It was delicious. I definitely want to eat it again. Next, the spring rolls were average. The sweet and sour pork with black vinegar was rich and tasty. The shumai was meaty and delicious. Now, the mapo tofu that I was looking forward to. I could choose the level of spiciness, and I ordered the standard one. The taste was to my liking, with just the right amount of Sichuan pepper making it delicious. I would love to visit this restaurant again.

The other day, I went to this restaurant with my colleagues. It was located in a nice area, so it left a slightly expensive impression, but the food was delicious and the staff provided great service, making it a satisfying place to dine. I forgot to take a photo, but the mapo tofu and tantanmen were delicious.

I have also visited the store in Akasaka, and they offer a great lunch set. I tried their famous set which includes tantanmen, mapo tofu, boiled wontons, and steamed rice for 2100 yen. The tantanmen and mapo tofu are delicious, and I find myself wanting to come back regularly. The mapo tofu is quite spicy.

I visited for lunch on a weekday after six months. I ordered the business lunch set with extra spicy mapo tofu as the main dish. It came with rice, soup, and pickled vegetables for a total of 1,400 yen including tax. The visual presentation was appetizing. The mapo tofu had a good balance of spiciness and numbing sensation, with a punch of flavor from the tofu and minced meat. There were no lumps of starch in the sauce, making it a refined mapo tofu dish. I also had seconds of rice and soup. By the way, it seemed like more women ordered the tantanmen noodles than the mapo tofu.

I went to a restaurant in Colette Machiya with a welcoming storefront. I ordered the specialty set, which included mapo tofu, wonton, tantan noodles, and rice. Everything was delicious. One thing I would like to mention is that it would have been even better if they had served everything together.
