Let's relax a bit at "Doug" in Shinjuku. Located in a small building next to the movie theater building on the basement floor. When you open the door facing the street, you are greeted with a steep staircase leading to the shop. As you descend each step, the jazz music gets louder and the surroundings become darker. Jazz music, coffee, alcohol, and snacks. I like places that can be used as both a cafe and a bar. Both me and Tanaka-kun don't smoke, but we enjoy places where smoking seems to fit the atmosphere. We usually visit such places during quiet times and leave when it gets crowded and smoky. Today, the atmosphere was quiet and the air was clean. I ordered my favorite Assam milk tea and a chocolate brownie. The brick walls, floors, and counter, sturdy wooden chairs, and the jazz music filling every corner. I used to drink whiskey here often, so I was contemplating what to drink today while looking at the alcohol menu. I remember enjoying whiskey with chocolate, so I often had chocolate brownies. I would listen to the jazz music, savor the nuts and brownie in my mouth, take a sip of whiskey, and relax. Sometimes I would close my eyes and let the music flow through me, then take another bite and a sip. Today's BGM was Quincy Jones. I loved the brass sound, so I'm sure I would have liked this too. I leisurely sipped my tea, which was made by simmering milk in a pot and brewing Assam tea leaves. It was sweet, bitter, aromatic, and hot. I savored it slowly, took a bite of the chocolate brownie, which was rich, sweet, and bitter. It melted with the chocolate aroma, creating a smooth texture in my mouth. The whipped cream added a creamy taste and texture to the experience. I remembered that day when we laughed about how stylish it was served in a heat-resistant glass container.
