Hong Kong Zanji Tea Restaurant...!! It has opened in Akasaka Mitsuke... how wonderful!! In the past, during the era of LCC boom and when HK Express was thriving... yes, just a few years ago, even someone like me who was poor and had shallow knowledge of Hong Kong could easily afford to go there. However, now it has become a difficult time. The beloved atmosphere of Hong Kong that was once so close to us. And for many Hong Kong enthusiasts, I believe that one of the charms of Hong Kong is the tea restaurants. Cha Chaan Teng... it's like a simple explanation of a café or a small restaurant. I hesitate to explain it to Japanese people, but these tea restaurants scattered throughout the city are one of the irresistible charms of Hong Kong, and I, too, fell in love with Hong Kong because of them. There are many people who have lived in Hong Kong for many years or have visited for many decades, but rather than discussing what the real Hong Kong is like or the history of Hong Kong... I hope that many people can enjoy the goodness and fun of Hong Kong tea restaurants. It opened last month, but for some reason it was not listed on Tabelog, so I, as a lover of Hong Kong, will leave a memo. It is located 2-3 minutes from Akasaka Mitsuke. You can take a leisurely walk around the large shrine and come here slowly, or it's also good to have a drink in Akasaka TBS area and come here. As you walk down a small alley, you will see the sign of the tea restaurant shining brightly in red. Manbo, during the time of infection prevention measures, the business hours are until 19:30 LO on Saturdays and the store closes at 20:00. There are also the characters "粥" at the entrance of the store, so maybe the business hours change in the morning. While being drawn to the porridge, I had already visited other restaurants that day, so I decided to use it for dessert. I sat at a table near the kitchen, where steam was billowing, and the table seats were tightly arranged in a small space typical of a local tea restaurant, which I liked. Furthermore, looking at the floors above this building, the design of the balcony or railing was also cute. I like this kind of place, so I almost thought it would be worth reconsidering if the outdoor unit was displayed on the exterior wall. I was in a state of mind where I could feel "Hong Kong" so much. I sat down at a table near the kitchen, and since there was a little time left until LO, I ordered Hong Kong-style milk tea and shrimp rice noodle rolls, as well as the pineapple bun with plenty of butter. Just looking at the menu made my eyes sparkle and shine, saying "Aahhh! I want to eat this too!!" The pineapple bun from Hong Kong and the simple sandwiches are irresistible. When I first went to Hong Kong, I went to the Kwun Hing Ice Room in Sham Shui Po, and the first thing I ate was a sandwich and macaroni soup... it's a nostalgic feeling. There are also many types of Hong Kong-style French toast. There is Hong Kong-style toast... with peanut butter or condensed milk. There is also Western toast... tears. My friend said he was already full, so he ordered the milk tea with a lot of lemon slices and the egg tart. The rice noodle rolls arrived quickly. This is it... a rice noodle roll that spreads out on an oval plate. Ah, why didn't I come here when I was more hungry. I wanted to try all the varieties. But even though it had been hundreds of years since I had eaten a pineapple bun and a milk tea with condensed milk, I was truly moved to tears, savoring the taste of thick butter and trans fats. I chewed on it and vowed in my heart that after the corona crisis, I would definitely go to Hong Kong. My friend was happy with the Hong Kong-style lemon tea that had a lot of lemon in it, saying that once you drink it, you can't go back to Japanese lemon tea. Oh, I miss it. Beloved Hong Kong style. Even though we are far apart now, I would be truly grateful if they opened one here in Akasaka... In recent years, there have been tea restaurants in Iidabashi, Kichijoji, and a little while ago, there was one a short walk from Shibuya... Each one seemed a bit far from the station to me and I thought it was too far.

There is a Hong Kong-style cafe in Akasaka Mitsuke that I have also visited in Iidabashi. I spent a little bit of free time there. I ordered the Hong Kong-style milk tea, iced, and it came with a "bear ice" unexpectedly! The bear motif was a pleasant surprise and made me very happy! The bear looks like it's soaking in a bath, but it's actually submerged all the way up to its mouth, which makes it look a bit sulky and cute. It's super cute, so adorable! The pineapple bun is basically a melon bread. It's funny that it's called a pineapple bun. Whether it's melon or pineapple, there are no actual fruits used, it's just based on appearance. Indeed, the color and texture look more like a pineapple than a melon. It's crunchy and not too sweet, so it might be easier to eat than melon bread. Next time, when I'm a little more hungry, I want to try the Hong Kong-style peanut butter French toast (I have no idea what kind of dish this is, haha).

I visited this restaurant with my colleagues during lunchtime and we were seated right away. The flavors were different from what I usually eat, but it was very delicious! The bread was sweet and the meat was well-seasoned with salt, which I liked. I will definitely go back again.

Today, I will introduce the Hong Kong Zan Ji Tea Restaurant in Akasaka Mitsuke. This restaurant offers a wide variety of dim sum dishes that you can choose from. It's great for sharing with friends as everyone can order their favorites. The dim sum dishes are delicious and the prices are very reasonable. They even had a dish called Kaya Toast, which is like a sweet jam sandwich. The atmosphere of the restaurant is lively with Hong Kong-style decorations. They were running a summer promotion when I visited, offering a discount if you paid in cash. The location is convenient, just a short walk from Akasaka Mitsuke Station. Overall, it's a fun and affordable restaurant that I would recommend visiting.

I had a sudden craving for yakisoba, so I came to this restaurant. It was around 5 pm, and I was the only customer. This place seems good for casual cafe dining. The iced milk tea was delicious. The yakisoba portion was generous and satisfying. However, the prices were a bit high, which was disappointing.

Just a stone's throw from Akasaka Mitsuke. I've been curious about this place since I stumbled upon it. As a big fan of Hong Kong, this restaurant makes my heart flutter. It's just like a Hong Kong-style cha chaan teng, which is a mix of a cafe and a casual eatery unique to Hong Kong. The atmosphere here really gets me excited. However, the staff didn't come out of the kitchen even though I called them several times. Finally, they responded. The dishes I had that day (including tax) were: - Pork and Century Egg Congee for 930 yen - Extra Zasai topping for 50 yen. Whenever I go to Hong Kong, I always have congee for breakfast, so I'm thrilled to be able to eat my favorite Hong Kong-style congee in Akasaka. I thought it would be served in a larger bowl, but the portion was smaller than I expected. Nonetheless, the authentic, smooth Hong Kong-style congee is a delight to have in Akasaka. It's made with pork and century egg. The century egg pieces are small and placed delicately, so I wish there were more. The portion was smaller than I expected, so this alone wasn't enough for me. I've been overindulging in food and drinks lately, so I'm trying to be more moderate with my lunches. They also serve Hong Kong-style milk tea, so I'd like to try that next time. Setting the service aside, I think this place is a dream come true for Hong Kong enthusiasts.

This is an authentic Hong Kong-style restaurant. Both the food and drinks are great. I've been there for lunch multiple times. The wonton noodles are delicious. The staff also speak in Cantonese. It's popular among foreigners too. It's usually not crowded during lunchtime, but it can get busy at times.

No matter how many times I read it, I can't remember it haha. I had always wanted to visit the restaurant in Iidabashi, but it seemed to have appeared in Akasaka Mitsuke before I knew it, so this was my first visit. I want to try various dishes, but I can't eat a lot, so this time I had: Pollo Pao sandwich with corned beef & egg, Hong Kong milk tea, and fried wonton with pineapple. The Pao is like a Hong Kong-style melon bread, crispy on the outside with sugar sprinkled on top. Inside, there's an omelette-style corned beef & egg filling, creating a sweet and savory taste. The fried wonton is freshly fried and crispy, perfect for snacking. The Hong Kong milk tea was surprisingly ordinary in taste, a bit disappointing, but of course, the sugar pot served alongside allows you to make it as sweet as you like! The cup and saucer are very cute. It's not as fun if you don't order a variety of dishes, right? Maybe I should have just stuck to instant ramen or yakisoba haha. I recommend enjoying the food with someone else. Thank you for the meal!

Visited during lunchtime. They do not have a specific lunch menu, so be aware of that! Despite it being lunchtime, they asked if we had a reservation, so I assume it's common for multiple people to come together. Ordered the Nekokiro Fried Rice. Unfortunately, they were not serving the pan-fried dumplings. Waited for a bit, and the fried rice arrived. At the same time, I ordered a Hong Kong-style milk tea. The fried rice was full of ingredients and had a rich sweetness from the oil. The milk tea had a strong milk flavor and a unique taste. It was very hot (laughs). I want to come back with multiple people next time.

Hong Kong Zan Ji Tea Restaurant Akasaka Branch, it's a hangover meal today. I went to "Hong Kong Zan Ji Tea Restaurant Akasaka Branch" located on a side street just off Akasaka Station. The entrance had a lot of authentic-looking menus displayed, which raised my expectations! When I entered the restaurant, the interior had a strong local vibe. The menu featured dishes that seemed to exude authenticity. I couldn't quite imagine what some of the dishes were just by reading the names, like soupless noodles and soup noodles with baked instant ramen mixed in. I ended up ordering the Zan Ji Fried Rice and a side of Xiao Long Bao. The Zan Ji Fried Rice was flavorful and had a good amount of ingredients like eggs, scallions, char siu, and carrots. It was light and easy to eat. The Xiao Long Bao was also good, although I felt it could use a bit of soy sauce or black vinegar. Overall, it was a nice experience in a restaurant with a foreign ambiance. It seemed popular and crowded, more suited for dim sum, tea, desserts, and drinks rather than just lunch. I'd like to come back to try their noodles and confirm if they are all instant ramen.

It's been almost a year since I last had lunch at this local Hong Kong gourmet spot. I ordered the lunch meat and egg soup noodles, which are full of B-grade charm. The noodles were instant noodles, and on the menu it said "delivery available." The soup tasted very thin and chemically, like instant powder. The dish came with three slices of lunch meat, a fried egg, and a little bit of stir-fried cabbage. To be honest, it tasted like instant noodles you could make at home. Considering the price of 1,100 yen, I think there are better options in Akasaka. As for drinks, Chunky is still best enjoyed with pineapple buns and milk tea. Thank you for the meal.

【#Hong Kong Zanji Tea Restaurant Akasaka Store】 Located at 3-9-12 Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo Metro Building 1F-EF Dim sum starting from 2500 yen per person (tax included) Recommended by the Chinese version of Instagram (Xiaohongshu), this restaurant offers authentic Hong Kong cuisine such as Cheung Fun, Pineapple Bun, and Hong Kong-style Milk Tea. I made a reservation for 20:00, but the egg tarts I wanted were already sold out. The menu is extensive, so I recommend going with a large group. 💁‍♀️

This is a Hong Kong restaurant located in Akasaka 3-chome. The space replicates the popular "cha chaan teng (cafe & eatery)" in Hong Kong, offering dim sum, noodles, rice dishes, a la carte dishes, and local specialties. They can accommodate meals, snacks, and even banquets. The owner, Mr. Zhang, opened the third branch of Hong Kong Zan Ji Tea Restaurant, which first opened in Iidabashi in 2015. The second branch is located in Kichijoji. It is about 1-2 minutes from Akasaka Mitsuke Station and about 5-6 minutes from Akasaka Station, close to Route 246 along Misuji Street. The entrance of the restaurant is narrow, but the interior is spacious with a lot of seating available. The seating consists of table seats (booth seats) only. The menu includes familiar dim sum, noodles, and a la carte dishes, as well as unique items such as creative noodle dishes using "Chow Mein" (popular in Hong Kong), sandwiches made with homemade pineapple bread, and toast made with pandan leaf paste and coconut milk kaya jam. They also offer Hong Kong-style milk tea and lemon tea. The restaurant operates continuously throughout the day, making it convenient, but they do not offer lunch sets. I ordered the following items: a classic dish that I always order when I visit Hong Kong. It is a favorite dish that I often eat in Japan as well. - Shrimp Wonton Noodle Soup (1,160 yen): Fine curly noodles in clear salty soup with chopped green onions and 5 shrimp wontons. The noodles are slightly soft for Hong Kong noodles, with a good texture. The shrimp wontons also had a satisfying taste. Compared to what I remember from Hong Kong, the noodles were a bit lacking. I finished it quickly and had time to add the following order: served in a cup with a cow illustration. - Hong Kong-style Milk Tea (530 yen): Brewed hot and served in a cup with thickness to keep it from cooling down quickly (it took me a while to finish it as I have a sensitive tongue). In Hong Kong, they brew strong black tea and add evaporated milk, with sugar served separately. Personally, I prefer it not too sweet, so this was good for me. I am also interested in trying their original pineapple bread and Chow Mein menu, so I would like to revisit if I have the chance.

Cha Chaan Teng, with its main store in Iidabashi and another branch in Kichijoji, has opened a new shop in Akasaka. Cha Chaan Teng is a unique food culture from Hong Kong, which can be described as a mix of a cafe, a casual dining restaurant, and a family restaurant. The Akasaka branch has a long and narrow structure, with Hong Kong photos adorning the walls to create an authentic atmosphere. I tried their favorite dishes, Curry Beef Noodles and Curry Fish Balls. The beef noodles had a lighter taste compared to other branches, but adding a bit of curry sauce to the fish balls balanced the flavors perfectly. The dish was packed with ingredients like ham, char siu, shrimp, egg, and vegetables. The fish balls had a fluffy texture, reminiscent of Macau's curry fish balls. Hong Kong's history of British colonization has influenced its cuisine, blending old British food culture with Chinese flavors. This fusion also incorporates Indian influences, resulting in unique curry dishes. While Akasaka offers a variety of Chinese restaurants, Cha Chaan Teng is a great addition to the options available in the area.

After the new year, we got tired of osechi and decided to have some Chinese food for a change! With the PayPay cashback offer, we felt like experiencing a taste of Hong Kong. We decided to try something different this time, so we ordered garlic shrimp and fried rice. The shrimp was extremely garlicky! And there was a lot of chives too! I tried to eat the whole thing, but some parts were too tough. We couldn't resist ordering the daikon mochi and cheong fun, but the shrimp cheong fun had very little filling! It was my first time trying shrimp stuffed with shrimp, but it was disappointing. Prices seemed to have gone up after the new year, but what can you do. The dim sum was also expensive. For dessert, we tried the peanut butter French toast for the first time. I usually prefer the super sweet kaya jam, but this one was salty and sweet. It's unique and could become addictive, but personally, I still prefer the kaya jam. We finished off with a cup of Horlicks, and the total bill for two came to 5520 yen. Thank you for the meal!

I finally got to visit this shop that I had been curious about for a while. I went with my close friend and we decided to order a few dishes to share. We ordered spring rolls, pan-fried pork dumplings, and pork fried rice. I wanted to try the melon bread sandwich thing, but it was not available at that time. I'll have to try it next time. The spring rolls were crispy and hot, with delicious shrimp inside. They were the perfect spring rolls. The pan-fried pork dumplings were like small baked meat buns, not with soup bursting out, but still tasty. I liked them. The pork fried rice was a last-minute choice because the melon bread was unavailable, but it turned out to be delicious. The pork belly was crispy and the sauce was tasty. The roasted pork was also delicious. It was a good deal to be able to try two different dishes. The place was crowded and we had to wait a bit to be seated and to place our order... I was worried if we would make it back to work on time during our lunch break, but thankfully we did.

There is a Little Hong Kong in Iidabashi, and now there is one in Akasaka too! The Akasaka location has more space with seating that feels more spread out. The menu is the same with cozy box seating, making it difficult to decide what to order each time. I ended up ordering a dim sum set, daikon mochi, cheung fun, egg tart, holic, shrimp wonton noodles, and kaya jam French toast. Everything was delicious, especially the holic drink which I love. The shrimp wonton noodles were surprisingly tasty, with a flavorful soup that made the noodles enjoyable. The slightly melted leeks added a nice touch. On my second visit, I ordered the shrimp wonton noodles, holic, and egg tart, which surprisingly came out quickly. I should have ordered more since the service is fast like in Hong Kong. The egg tart was slightly warm from being kept in a warmer, but the shrimp wonton noodles made up for it. I ended up wanting dessert and added the kaya jam French toast, which was also delicious. I will definitely be back again!

The tea restaurant is a Hong Kong-style cafe where you can enjoy meals and drinks (according to the sign at the shop). I decided to visit because I have been having a powerful diet recently and thought it would be nice to have some Chinese congee for a change. It was past 2 pm and about half of the seats were taken. All the customers were women. The menu was extensive, but I decided to go with the seafood congee for 880 yen and the BBQ pork rice noodle roll for 520 yen. The seafood congee had a generous portion, with a mix of seafood inside. It wasn't high-end Chinese cuisine, so that was understandable. It was tasty, but the flavor became a bit monotonous, so I should have added some condiments. The BBQ pork rice noodle roll was like a steamed crepe made of rice flour. I usually love it, but it ended up tasting similar to the congee. They also serve Hong Kong-style sandwiches, milk tea, and dim sum, so it's best to order a variety of dishes with a group of people. I will definitely come back!

Near Akasaka-Mitsuke Station, I had some time to spare so I decided to look for a shop to visit. While wandering around, I came across a certain store. "香港贊記茶餐廳" ... how do you pronounce that? Well, it's definitely a Hong Kong cuisine restaurant, and the foreign vibe actually piqued my interest. Alright, let's go check it out! ■■ It feels like being in Hong Kong! It was a subtle time around evening, so there were no other customers in the store besides us. By the way, the reading of "香港贊記茶餐廳" is "Hōng Kǒng Chán Jì Chá Cān Tēn". Complicated, right? Haha. Now, let's start by ordering a drink. Highball for 550 yen, draft beer for 600 yen, the alcohol prices are pretty standard. ■ Draft Beer (600 yen) So, first things first, beer! We haven't decided on what dishes to order yet, but beer is always a safe choice! Now, let's also order some food! Looking at the menu, as expected from the restaurant's name, there's quite a variety of authentic-looking dishes! Honestly, I don't know some of the dishes, but just looking at the menu is quite enjoyable. ■ Shrimp Cheung Fun (580 yen) Cheung Fun is a Chinese rice noodle roll, and I've never tried it before, so I couldn't resist ordering it! The taste is quite delicious! The chewy skin, the plump shrimp, and the special sauce all come together nicely, giving a unique foreign feel. ■ Beef Grilled Pho (1,180 yen) Next, we tried a noodle dish. Pho is usually associated with Vietnam, but apparently, it's also available in Hong Kong. It's well-seasoned, and the combination with vegetables is excellent! It's a great snack to go with alcohol. ■■ The addictive unknown flavors! So, on this day, we had two dishes and finished our meal. Both were very delicious, so I definitely want to try other dishes as well. It's a different experience from typical Chinese cuisine, and combined with the ambiance, it's a type of restaurant that you don't come across often. I would love to visit again.
