I came to Ueno after a long time and bought some dorayaki as a treat for myself. I arrived around 3:00 PM, thinking I still had time to buy some. There were about 8 people in line in front of the shop, which was fewer than I expected. The shop had 4 separate reception booths, which made the process quick. I bought 4 dorayaki without checking the price. Although there has been a price increase, it is still reasonable, only a few tens of yen more. The ingredients are simple, with a short shelf life until the next day, including sugar, red bean paste, flour, whole eggs, honey, glucose syrup, and baking powder. The dorayaki cost 240 yen each (tax included).
The dorayaki was slightly warm when I bought it. The cake part was soft and moist, and the red bean paste had a nice balance of sweetness along with a strong flavor of the red beans and honey. It tasted delicious as always.
Overall, I appreciate the simplicity and quality of the ingredients used in this dorayaki. Despite the price increase, the taste has remained consistent over the years, so I would recommend it. As my favorite dorayaki, I give it a high rating.

On this national holiday, I visited the shop at the request of my wife around a little before 2 p.m. Known as one of the top three dorayaki shops in Tokyo, I had already tried Kameju in Asakusa before, but this was my first visit to Kusatsuki in Higashijujo. Following Google Maps from Ueno station, I easily found the shop, but to my surprise, there was a long line of over 20 people. Although I'm not a fan of waiting in line, I decided to wait. The line moved surprisingly fast, about 5-6 minutes, and I finally reached the order counter at the back of the shop. I ordered 6 dorayaki (including for my daughter's family) at ¥240 each, and also bought 2 ohagi from the menu board outside for ¥260 each. The line was still going outside, showing how popular the shop is. When I got home, I immediately tried the dorayaki. My wife and I shared one, and the sweetness of the red bean paste inside was just right, not too sweet, with elegant and soft grains. Although I'm not one for sweet things, I found the taste to be soothing and delicious. As for the ohagi, I accidentally ate it before taking a photo, but it was small yet delicious, with a balanced taste of seasoned red bean paste and soft rice inside. It was so good that it quickly disappeared. Both the dorayaki and ohagi were truly delicious and memorable. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I finally visited this shop that I've always wanted to go to, since I went in the direction of Yushima. I had been wanting to visit the Ueno shop as well, since I have been to the Asagaya shop and found it delicious. Today, my wish came true and I visited. I arrived before 3 pm on a Saturday. There was quite a line, but the turnover was quick. I placed my order within 10 minutes. I purchased the famous dorayaki. This dorayaki is truly delicious. The moment it touches my mouth, the aroma of the dough spreads. It is moist and fluffy. The anko (sweet bean paste) is simple but has a luxurious taste, making it a sophisticated dorayaki. The dorayaki here is really delicious. I will buy it again.

When I arrived around 12 o'clock on September 22, 2023 (Friday), I lined up for about a minute and bought 15 dorayaki. They were sold in boxes of 5, so I bought 3 boxes and put them in my shopping bag. It was quite heavy as I moved to my destination. I brought my own portion back and ate it at night. It was surprisingly delicious, with a taste that made me want to eat more. However, I thought the price of 240 yen for one was a bit high.

I arrived after a short walk from Ueno Hirokoji. I usually go to the store in Nihonbashi, but today I visited the main store. The interior of the store was a bit dimly lit, and instead of traditional sweets in the showcase, there were only photos. Also, you could only make a purchase at a separate counter. It was a bit disappointing as it lacked a certain atmosphere. The dorayaki was as delicious as always, with its chewy texture being irresistible. The rabbit-shaped manju was also very cute.

Huh? Where can I buy dorayaki? How about monaka? What kinds of Japanese sweets are available and how much do they cost? Well, I came to buy dorayaki, so they should have it right? Let's go in and buy! When I went to order in front of the store, there were photos of the items and their prices below the eyes! When you buy, you have to stand in front of the store person to see what is available and how much it costs. They are standing right in front of you, so you have to decide quickly. It's delicious but a little unfriendly, right? When I got home, I enjoyed the dorayaki with a cup of coffee! It was a blissful moment of relaxation. The azuki beans were also delicious. I'm glad I was born Japanese.

I knew there was a store called Usagiya in Nihonbashi, but I never had the chance to go because it's closed on Sundays. However, I found out that it's open on Sundays, so I stopped by while in the city and bought some dorayaki. It was delicious. I definitely want to visit again!

Usagiya, a shop also frequented by Mr. Takeo Tomita. When thinking of dorayaki in Tokyo, this is the first place that comes to mind. The slight aroma of honey blends well with the moist and chewy skin, paired with plenty of sweet bean paste. They serve freshly made dorayaki, so when you receive it, it's slightly warm. It's delicious to eat right away, but it's also good to enjoy it after letting it cool a bit. I bought some as souvenirs and also requested one for myself, which was carefully wrapped. Thank you for the delicious treat!

It's been a while since I wanted to eat here again. I visited for lunch but decided to wait until the next day to have it freshly made. Even so, the crust was not dry and it was still very delicious. It was a satisfying portion that left me full!

I prefer this dorayaki over Tsukudani and Kameju, for sure. I feel like Arima and Gero are better than Kusatsu, similar to how I feel about the addition of chlorine in the former two compared to Sotomachi and Asakusa, though it may be a bit disrespectful... But I digress. Rabbit Shop is great because you can definitely get some until 4 pm. It's often crowded on weekends, but the wait is totally worth it. Speaking of which, Rabbit Shop is the best for me, so I use it as a guide when trying new dorayaki. In that regard, these top 3 dorayaki are: 1. Rokkatei's "Goyosha Dorayaki" (only available from November onwards) 2. Chishuian's Fine Line Dorayaki (forgot the official name) - the usual dorayaki is just average. 3. Morimoto's "Chitose Honten Handmade Dorayaki" - Just like Chishuian, the other dorayaki is average. If you ever go to Hokkaido, be sure to give them a try!

Late August. Around 4:30 pm on a weekday. While walking around the Yushima and Ochanomizu area for work, I stumbled upon Usagiya, a rabbit-shaped sweets shop! There wasn't a line, so I wondered if they were sold out for the day. But when I saw a customer coming out of the shop, I realized they were still open. I decided to pop in and check it out. As I entered quietly, I noticed that the shop was somewhat dimly lit. There were separate counters, giving it a somewhat official vibe. I approached the counter in the middle and asked if they were still selling. The staff said, "We're sold out of bunny-shaped manju, but we have dorayaki and mochi available." And they mentioned that you could buy just one. So, I purchased two dorayaki (240 yen each). Even though it was just two, they were neatly wrapped for me. Thank you very much. Is it okay to encounter a famous shop in such a casual manner? That's what I thought during this brief encounter and purchase in just a few minutes. At night, I tried the sweets at home. The dough was moist, with a slightly sticky surface probably due to being in my bag all day in the heat. The sweetness and aroma of the dough spread in my mouth. The red bean filling had whole red beans, giving a distinct texture. It was not too sweet, with a very refined red bean flavor. Since I bought two, I'll save the other one for tomorrow's enjoyment. It was a very refined and delicious dorayaki. I'll definitely buy some to share with my family next time. Thank you for the meal."

Whenever I go to Ueno, I always stop by this traditional Japanese sweets shop. My family loves their signature dorayaki, so I always buy some to bring home. The dorayaki has a simple yet delicious taste, with both the sweet red bean paste and the soft pancake-like outer layer being top-notch. They are always freshly made and sold for 240 yen each. Recently, the dorayaki from Usagiya was featured in the movie "Revolver Lily," starring Haruka Ayase. This recognition in the film seems to have boosted the spirits of the shop owners. Although I haven't seen the movie myself, after reading the posters and notices in the shop, I felt compelled to support them and hope they continue to thrive for a long time.

I visited the Nihonbashi store at 11 a.m. on a Saturday in August and had previously enjoyed their gift of dorayaki. I had some time before my next appointment, so I decided to stop by again. The dorayaki costs 240 yen (cash only). This time, I found it to be a bit too sweet, perhaps my taste has changed. However, I still think it is worth trying due to its refined taste and satisfying portion size.

I was able to purchase without waiting around 3 pm on a regular day - it would be great if it was always like this (laughs). Even though the cherry blossom dorayaki looks delicious this season, I still end up buying regular dorayaki. The expiration date is only 2 days, but when I buy it for home, I cut it in half, wrap it in cling film, freeze it, and enjoy it slowly another day.

I really like dorayaki and have tried various kinds, but this one is my favorite. It doesn't last very long, so it's not easy to use as a gift, but my mother always appreciates it as a souvenir. I have visited the cafe once before, and I would like to go back and relax there again.

It was a regular evening, but the Dorayaki was sold out. I had the Monaka and Momoyama instead. The staff are always so confident and a bit pushy! They must be selling well and have confidence in their flavors. I see that the Dorayaki is now 240 yen. I miss the days when it was in the 100-yen range.. The Monaka had crispy skin and elegant red bean paste. The Momoyama was just too small. It's clear that it wouldn't make a good gift for someone. Overall, the fluffy Dorayaki here is still the best. I'll have to go in the morning next time!

There is a famous Dorayaki shop (or rather a Japanese sweets shop) that doesn't do online sales because the expiration date is only until the next day. You have to go to the store to buy it. It's popular and sells out quickly, so I visited right after opening in the morning. There was a short line but it moved quickly so the wait wasn't bad. I had it for the first time and it was incredibly delicious. The skin is thick with a sweet aroma, and there is plenty of sweet bean paste inside, but not too sweet. It was my first time having a Dorayaki like this and I was impressed. It's understandable why people line up in the morning. I want to eat it again! Thank you for the meal.

A friend who was visiting home came back to Niigata, so I went to buy souvenirs. In the downtown area, there are rabbits and turtles, but our family has always been in favor of rabbits. We have also eaten turtles before. Oh! When it comes to baseball, we are also in favor of rabbits. The expiration date for rabbits is very short, usually the next day, so be careful when giving them as souvenirs. I was surprised that I haven't posted anything until now.

I purchased boxed water yokan, but it felt too small. So, I went back to confirm and ended up buying 2 regular ones. The boxed water yokan was 1200 yen (tax included) for 260g x 2 pieces, plus 30 yen for the box, totaling 550 yen (tax included). Even though the boxes looked the same size, I could immediately tell the difference in weight. When I opened them, I was surprised! The boxes were actually plastic. The staff mentioned that the box might be better for preventing moisture from escaping. However, it was difficult to remove the yokan from the box, and it generated waste. Maybe there is a proper way to take it out, so I'd like to ask next time. I had a previous experience where the yokan melted in my mouth instantly, so half of the boxed yokan was satisfying for me. Therefore, next time, I decided to buy 4 regular yokan without the box for 1040 yen (tax included), and enjoy 2 pieces. I'm really delving deep into this research, even measuring the weight. It's a delicious treat that blows away the heat! Thank you for the meal. :)
