Nakano Broadway Trip~ (^∀^) If you wander off the main street and take a side road, you'll find yourself about a 2-minute walk away from the place. It has a foreign atmosphere that is quite charming~ Lately, I've been obsessed with mapo tofu, so when I saw it on the menu, I couldn't resist ordering it. The first place I went to was Minshin Nakano store. The mapo tofu here is served in a hot pot-like dish, which made me quite excited. I ordered the mapo tofu, a four-item appetizer platter, and shrimp mayo. After waiting for about 10 minutes, the mapo tofu arrived, simmering hot! It's a dark-colored mapo with a rich flavor from the beef, and it tastes so delicious! The slight tingling sensation from the Sichuan peppercorns is just right. The spice level is like a medium-spicy curry. The tofu is silky smooth like silk. It's the most delicious mapo tofu I've had recently! It goes well with rice and sake! The shrimp mayo comes with separate mayo and shrimp, and dipping them together is so tasty! It's the classic shrimp mayo taste that I've been craving! I was so into the food that I forgot to take photos while eating. The four-item appetizer platter was also delicious, especially the stir-fried tripe with a sweet Taiwanese soy sauce flavor that goes well with alcohol. The restaurant is open from lunch till late at night, so it's a great spot for drinking too. They have a variety of drinks, but I struggled a bit with squeezing the kiwi for my kiwi sour. In the end, I peeled and mashed it with a stirrer, and it turned out delicious. Everything I tried here was a hit! Whether you're dining alone, with a group, for drinks, or just for food, it's a great place for any occasion! First time at MinMin! I took a young person out for drinks and ordered bird's peanuts stir-fry, fried chicken, shrimp chili, and Shaoxing wine. The portions were a bit small, but the flavors were well-seasoned and we enjoyed a taste close to the authentic one. The overflowing Shaoxing wine presentation was well received. The stir-fried bean sprouts were on the savory side. The dumplings had a strong garlic flavor. The crispy yakisoba had plenty of vegetables and was very satisfying. Good value for money, overall a nice place.

It is not suitable for those who want to relax in a cool place. The tables are small and cozy, making it easy for even one person to enter. The mimin fried rice is a simple, mushy type. It was lightly flavored, but the more you eat, the more addictive the deliciousness becomes.

In mid-July 2023, on a Monday public holiday at 11:30 am, with the temperature exceeding 35 degrees, I wandered into Nakano Sun Mall without a lunch spot in mind. I turned right at the entrance of Broadway and decided to enter a place with a blackboard sign showing a yellow star in a circle. The place was bustling with lunchtime drinkers and families due to the holiday. I ordered a Sapporo draft beer and some gyoza, which arrived quickly and were delicious. For my main dish, I chose the XO sauce fried rice, a specialty of the Nakano branch, which was flavorful and satisfying. The food was great, and I look forward to returning to try more dishes in the evening.

Visited on a scorching hot day in summer. I just wanted to get inside the shop to escape the heat, so I didn't think much and just went in. It seems like the shop specializes in gyoza. I ordered a set meal with both pan-fried gyoza and boiled gyoza. I wasn't expecting much, but they were surprisingly tasty. The boiled gyoza had a gentle flavor that I liked. I also tried the dan dan noodles, which were rich and delicious.

The yakisoba was not the usual sauce-based one, but rather a Chinese-style yakisoba with flat noodles that had a delicious flavor and texture, complemented by crunchy bean sprouts. The popular Minmin gyoza had a thin and smooth skin filled with juicy vegetables and meat, leaving a strong impression with its delicious taste. The gentle egg soup was also enjoyable.

In the end, I decided to go to Men-Men, a restaurant known for its original grilled dumplings from Osaka. I used to frequent the Yaesu store when I worked in Yaesu. I arrived at 2:00 pm and had to wait about 5 minutes to get in. The food arrived in about 10 minutes. In addition to the main dish, they also serve egg soup and a small salad. The main dish consists of mutton, onions, and leeks, a simple yet delicious combination with seasoned rice. It had been a while since I last visited Men-Men, but I was completely satisfied. The gyoza is on the smaller side, easy to eat but I wish it had a bit more punch. It's only 550 yen for a gyoza set, so it's not bad. Maybe next time I'll go for the large Mimiu set. On Saturday, it was sunny and 21°C. After finishing distributing flyers for the Sanseitou party at the north exit of Nakano Station, I entered a restaurant at 12:16. The place was 80% full. I looked at the menu and ordered the Chinese rice bowl for ¥920. The server confirmed, "Do you mean the mixed ankake rice bowl?" The dish arrived in 4 minutes, and it contained squid, Chinese cabbage, komatsuna (Japanese mustard spinach), carrots, wood ear mushrooms, pork, shrimp, and two quail eggs. The flavor was sweet soy sauce, and even though the dish was a bit soupy, the strong flavor was good. I also had a hot and delicious Chinese egg soup. Thank you for the meal.

Nakano "Original Gyoza Shop Minmin" Fried Rice & Gyoza Set (with soup and salad) for 880 yen. This long-established Chinese restaurant is located just before Nakano Broadway. When you hear "Minmin," you might imagine shops in Utsunomiya or Kichijoji, but this one is actually directly managed by the main store in Minami Osaka. The neatly lined up gyoza looked delicious. They were crispy on one side, with thin skin that allows you to taste the sweet vegetables and filling directly. They are light, making them a great snack for those who want to drink during the day. Although I didn't order them, the boiled gyoza seems to have a different deliciousness. The fried rice had more volume than it appeared. Paid by credit card~ The dumpling skins were very thin!!! The shrimp in the shrimp chili sauce was big and delightful. The Mapo yakisoba was spicy and delicious (*⁰▿⁰*) It was nice that you could choose the small size, so you could enjoy various menu items. The Foodlog rating (as of August 2022) is 3.20!

The pan-fried dumplings were average, with a slightly sweet taste and less filling, which I didn't particularly like. On the other hand, the boiled dumplings were flavorful with a generous portion, and they could be a meal on their own with rice. The rice was firm and slightly dry, but it paired well with the boiled dumplings. The salad was basic, with raw vegetables and soy sauce dressing. Although the restaurant specializes in dumplings, they also offer a variety of noodle dishes, including a tempting cold tantanmen priced at 950 yen (which I didn't try). They have a lunch stamp card where you can get a 700 yen discount after collecting 30 stamps, but I didn't receive one as it wasn't recommended to me.

The dumplings had a high vegetable ratio, thin skin, and were light and easy to eat. The stir-fried pea sprouts were seasoned with salt and refreshing. Dinner on May 3, 2022 (Tuesday) (Holiday) with my partner. We ended up going to Nakano for dinner again, as if we were possessed (laughs). We went to Minmin in the north exit. This Minmin originated in Osaka's Sennichimae and was established in 1953. We ordered draft beer, original grilled dumplings (7 pieces) (380 yen), boiled dumplings (6 pieces) (350 yen), assorted vegetables (800 yen), homemade spring rolls (2 pieces) (490 yen), Sichuan-style mapo tofu (700 yen). Then we ordered Minmin fried rice (670 yen) as a finishing touch. The grilled dumplings had a soft side opposite the grilled side, which was interesting. The combination of pork and lamb minced meat was delicious. The boiled dumplings, assorted vegetables, and spring rolls were also quite tasty, but the mapo tofu was especially delicious. The balance of numbing and spicy flavors was good, the level of spiciness was just right, and the richness of the meat was plentiful. I realized that I really like this kind of mapo tofu. The Minmin fried rice was also moist and had a good flavor. We had 4 glasses of draft beer, my partner had 1 glass of grapefruit sour, and the total bill was 5,650 yen. Today's new cases were 3,357 in Tokyo, 3,318 in Osaka, and a total of 30,433 nationwide.
