Asakusa's Sensoji Temple sightseeing, for lunch, you can eat dishes like dojou (loach), eel, sukiyaki, etc. in a convenient restaurant. It seems popular among foreign tourists as well. There was a festival going on, so it was very crowded. When visiting the architectural buildings, it was quite lively. For lunch, if you go early, you can get a seat, but it gets full while eating, so it's better to make a reservation. The atmosphere is nice with a Japanese style, and foreigners would enjoy it. The staff at the restaurant serve with humor, incorporating jokes about the downtown Asakusa. Dojou nabe or Yanagawa nabe, which one to choose? It's really hard to decide, but I'll go with the dojou nabe!!! There are two types of dojou nabe, round and opened. Round means the dojou is whole with bones, while opened means the bones are removed. I don't like bones, so I prefer the opened one. In a flat iron pot, there are plenty of burdock and green onions in a sweet soy sauce broth. It's like a hot spring inn, so you can enjoy it warm until the end. I've never had eel in a hot pot before, so what is dojou like?? When you try to find the smell, you can find it, but it's delicious when you eat it without thinking about it. It's very enjoyable in an Edo-style atmosphere. The Akadashi (red miso soup) is also delicious, with clams that make drinkers happy. With this, I feel like I've become healthier. I can't resist such a delicious dish, so let's have some sake. Sake it is! Of course, it's Tokyo sake - I like Kasen. It's crisp yet has a rich umami taste that's irresistible. The burdock and green onions are surprisingly delicious. I'll savor the dojou carefully and sip on the sake. Ah, happiness - lunch sake is the best. I came to Asakusa with my friends during the holiday to eat eel. We both have used this restaurant for a party at the end of the year, so it's a repeat visit. I personally like this restaurant, so I have been here many times. We took a bus here, so we started with a toast with bottled beer! For appetizers, we ordered "Green Onion with Mustard Dressing" and also ordered a "Electric Brandy Highball". For the main course, we ordered the "Ultimate Thick Eel Rice Bowl" and "Grilled Eel Liver". We enjoyed the green onion with mustard dressing with our highball while waiting for the food. Due to the end of the coronavirus pandemic, the restaurant was filled with inbound foreign visitors, and we seemed to be the only Japanese customers. The ultimate thick eel rice bowl that we ordered, which was the same as last time, was ready. I enjoyed dipping the homemade sansho pepper in the eel and eating it. The eel and rice were steamed in a steamer, so they were both piping hot. The white rice soaked in eel sauce was incredibly delicious when combined with the eel. The separately ordered grilled eel liver had a heart-shaped gluten, which was heartwarming. The Electric Brandy Highball and the eel rice bowl were a great combination. I felt like eating sukiyaki from Asakusa, so I searched for a restaurant there. I found a place that serves individual-sized pots with high-quality domestic beef, nicely presented. When the dish arrived, it was slightly rare, but I didn't mind, I actually prefer it that way. The taste was subtly sweet and delicious, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was great. By the way, there was a restaurant called Imahan next door.

I was planning to go to Komagata Dozeu, but unfortunately it was a temporary holiday. I called Kuyoubou Sushi 468, but they were fully booked. So, I decided to go to Tounanya instead. I started with my usual Nikogori, and tried eel sashimi for the first time, which was delicious with the perfect balance of fat. I also had the usual skewers, grilled eel, and eel rice bowl to finish. It was delicious as always.

I visited again because it was delicious last time. The situation with COVID has calmed down and there were many customers. I wanted to try the eel rice bowl that the person next to me was eating last time. It was cooked perfectly and very delicious. The 5-item appetizer platter was also delicious. I liked the thin dojo fish. The cold sake was dry and everything was delicious.

I made a reservation for 12 o'clock on a regular day, but it seemed like you could get in without a reservation. About half of the customers were foreigners. I ordered eel rice bowl (regular) and grilled eel liver skewers. When I started eating the liver, I felt like having some alcohol, so I ended up ordering an additional 1 cup of sake... (laughs) There were many types of sake and shochu available. The eel was fluffy and the skin was crispy, making me feel luxurious. The sansho pepper was not in powder form, but in paste form, which was a first for me, but even a small amount had a strong flavor.

The restaurant is located about a 2-minute walk from Asakusa Station, which is a great location. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also nice. I sometimes go to this eel restaurant with my group, and personally, I recommend the thick eel. I recommend the "Unagi Don" with extra thick eel and rice. The thick eel is tastier, and the eel bowl with a lot of rice is easier to eat than the eel on top of rice, so I would like to recommend the extra thick eel rice bowl.

I have visited the Nyoro Suke in Ginza a few times and found it to be a delicious restaurant despite being a large chain. This was my first visit to the Asakusa branch. The menu here is different from the other locations. It seems they took over and renovated the original Tounan-ya, but kept the Tounan-ya menu. I recommend the eel dishes as a great accompaniment to drinks. I ordered the eel trio, which was all delicious and went well with my drinks. The eel hotpot was a new experience for me, and it felt like I was eating a eel version of sukiyaki (very delicious). I usually don't like chain restaurants, but this one has a good vibe.

Asakusa was in a state of eel refugee crisis. Nyoro came to the rescue and I was sucked in. To satisfy my eel craving, I ordered a grilled eel dish with one and a half pieces of eel. So far, eel has been mentioned three times in this review. Eel is something that takes time. While sipping on Japanese sake, I feasted on my favorite sake from Niigata, "Kirin-yama," causing a fever. Just as I was ordering my second glass, the eel appeared. Oh, it's huge. Very large indeed. The eel was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. However, the flavor was a bit strong. It might be more enjoyable if the flavor was a bit lighter, allowing the aroma of the eel to shine through. One and a half pieces might be too much for a woman. They also offer menu options where you can enjoy both grilled and broiled eel, which might be worth trying. The Eel King will now embark on a journey to find eel elsewhere.

I have been to the store in Ginza, but I happened to come across this shop while walking in Asakusa and decided to try it. It seems that the taste can vary depending on the store. The eel at Nyoro Suke in Ginza is so delicious that I would go back again, but for some reason, I didn't feel the same level of excitement at this shop. Maybe it's the way it's grilled, or perhaps it's the skill of the chef... I visited Nyorojo-san again. Last time was in Ginza, but this time in Asakusa. As always, I enjoyed the generous portions of broiled eel and grilled eel. The restaurant is located just off Nakamise Street. There were many customers from overseas, fitting for Asakusa. The staff members were fluent in English. Next time, I would like to try the tuna and green onion hot pot.

I happened to pass by and decided to stop by the second restaurant. I had never tried loach before, but I was drawn in by the appearance of the place and decided to go in. The interior was quite charming with a nostalgic feel. I ended up ordering loach sashimi. I couldn't really tell the taste of the loach itself, but the broth was delicious! The flavor of the burdock was also nice. I was surprised by how delicious the white rice I ordered later on was. The grains were firm and slightly chewy, and it was incredibly tasty. I would love to go back again.

I used it for a regular drinking party! This time, I went to Asakusa to eat loaches after a long time. I hesitated between famous shops like Komagata Dozeu and Iidaya, but this time I visited "Nyorojo Higashiminamiya Asakusa -> Former Tatsumiya"~ I entered the quaint atmosphere facing Kannon Street, one block east of Nakamise Street, with excitement. I sat on the sunken kotatsu in the private room and first ordered a draft beer to welcome the loaches! While waiting for the beer to arrive, I checked the menu. When the beer arrived, the staff told me, "Enjoy it while the foam looks good." The beautifully frothy draft beer was delicious. After settling down with the beer, I ordered: - Loach hot pot (small) The leeks and burdock are cooked together. The loaches were a bit small, but the taste was satisfying! - Leek tofu Half a block of cold tofu with leek sauce. It's refreshing and goes well with sake. - Fried loach It's just as it is. Even loach beginners can enjoy it. - Bone senbei The saltiness and crunchy texture are excellent! I also ordered: - Loach Yanaigawa hot pot This also had a stable taste. - Umaki They cut it into portions for the number of people. It was a nice touch. - Eel skewer (salt) Grilled eel skewers with rich fat. I had it with salt, and the fat was really delicious. I came to eat loaches, but since eel is also a famous dish at the restaurant, I indulged in Umaki and grilled eel skewers, and bone senbei, and gave a pass on eel this time. I also had Denki Bran and other dishes, and enjoyed loaches and Asakusa. It seems that there are more foreign visitors and tourists wearing masks, and little by little, things are returning to the way they were before the pandemic, making Asakusa enjoyable as always. If it's eel, then it's a restaurant that changes your perception with eel shabu-shabu. Ordered the course menu. Delicious from the first dish. The eel ham has a sweet oiliness that is very enjoyable, and the rolled omelette is fluffy and sweet. The grilled eel has a concentrated eel flavor, with crispy skin and juicy meat coated with oil, making it delicious. The eel shabu-shabu is thinly sliced eel that is firm when dipped in the hot pot, with a noticeable sweet oiliness and maximum flavor. The finale of eel rice bowl has a strong kabayaki flavor with sauce reaching the bottom of the rice, making it rich and delicious. The head waiter is a true Edo-style gentleman, very caring, kind, and will teach you the best way to eat each dish. I was able to enjoy the most delicious eel. Thank you very much♪

I ate each item separately, but they were all delicious. The loach was small and perfect for my family, the eel was thick and large. The squid tempura was crispy and the squid itself was tender. The finale of the eel tempura rice bowl was also delicious. It was my first time trying eel tempura, but it was tasty. I will definitely go back. Thank you for the meal.

Had dinner with a friend in Asakusa. I was craving loach, so I decided to try it here. I was a bit disappointed when the loach dish arrived because it was really small. I wish they had mentioned the portion size beforehand. However, the tempura, hitsumabushi, and meat dishes were all delicious, although a bit pricey. Overall, it's a touristy area, so I guess it's expected. I was in the mood for loach, so I was a little let down. Thank you for the meal.

The eel sashimi is frozen, not transparent, white and not bendy. The eel tempura is decent. The staff was a bit blunt from the moment we entered, giving a bad feeling. Nyoro-suke was good in Akasaka and the now closed Kagurazaka, so it's a bit disappointing. #Asakusa #eel #Nyoro-suke #Tounanya

It was a shop in Asakusa with a great atmosphere. There were few people on Sunday night, so we were able to enjoy our meal in a calm setting. I tried eel sashimi for the first time! It was light in flavor but had a nice fatty texture, and you could definitely taste the eel. I also had my favorite eel roll and eel bowl. We also tried the assorted delicacies. The grilled eel was very plump and the rice stayed hot until the end, making it delicious.

I got full at the first place and then visited this nice atmosphere restaurant for the second round. I made sure it was okay to just have drinks before entering. The retro interior gives off a vibe of a place that specializes in eel and loach dishes. I had eel with bone crackers, cucumber, and an Electric Brandy Highball. The eel with bone crackers was surprisingly delicious. I would love to visit this place again at a leisurely pace.

We had lunch with our family at Asakusa's "Nyoro Suke" (formerly known as Tatsumiya Tatsumiya), a chain restaurant that is part of a large corporation operating around 9 stores including Red Tiger Gyoza. Located near the shopping street just off Nakamise Street in Asakusa, the restaurant has a charming and historic exterior. Inside, there are table seats and tatami rooms, and we were seated in a tatami room as reserved. "Nyoro Suke" specializes in eel dishes cooked in the Kansai style, offering a variety of options such as eel rice bowls, grilled eel, and eel sashimi, as well as hot pot dishes. The eel rice bowl was impressive, served in a wooden frame box overflowing with eel. The Kansai-style eel had a crispy texture and a fluffy taste that paired well with the firm rice. The sauce-soaked rice and the mountain of eel were a delight to savor, and the homemade extra sauce with sansho miso added a nice touch of flavor. The grilled eel had a good balance of saltiness, with a soft saltiness that permeated the dish. While I personally prefer the Kanto-style grilled eel from Kubota in Suehirocho, the flavor at Nyoro Suke was enjoyable, retaining a flavor similar to river fish while trapping the fat through grilling. This dish was perfect for adults to enjoy with some drinks. The eel sashimi was a recommended dish, with a light and delicious taste reminiscent of white fish, with a slightly crunchy texture that added to the flavor. Eel blood contains toxins that are removed by soaking the eel in running water for about 8 hours before consuming it raw, but this chain restaurant has mastered the technique effortlessly. The eel tempura rice bowl was a unique dish, with eel tempura that was fried in a simple manner, retaining its natural texture without the typical eel sauce, and served with a sweet and savory tempura sauce. The overall meal was voluminous for the price, offering a good value for money. If you're not particular about Kansai or Kanto styles, I would recommend Nyoro Suke for a satisfying meal. We enjoyed our meal today as well.
