Here is the translation: The originator of the natural yeast bakery reigning supreme here is Levain♪ Actually, I used to not be a big fan of these ingredient-focused shops as they seemed too authentic for me haha. But, during my journey to visit the top 100 bakeries, I realized that station-based shops tend to score higher due to their convenient location. This led me to naturally become interested in high-scoring shops outside of major stations, and I decided to check them out♪ The owner of this shop, Mr. Koda, learned the traditional European bread-making method using natural fermented starter from Frenchman Bush Pierre after working in various professions such as a teacher until around the age of 30. Mr. Koda is considered a pioneer of natural yeast bread in Japan, famous for using carefully selected domestically grown wheat. When I visited the shop, I arrived before 9 am expecting to wait, but the shop was already open. The shop has a simple feel with a few bread loaves displayed on wooden shelves, rather than a stylish bakery. By the way, I like innovative and unique bread. I often struggle to appreciate ingredient-focused items as they can be challenging for amateurs like me to see their value, which tended to not lead to high scores for me. As a result, I realized that solely judging based on the atmosphere might not always suit me deeply... I confirmed in advance before visiting this time since I had been turned away once due to temporary closure on a previous visit. They mentioned that the items come out gradually until 9 am. Although the selection was limited, I decided to choose some items from what was available♪ For instance, the hard bread can be adjusted in length and weight for purchase, which is really convenient - like the Raisin bread - 1.9 yen/g. This detail was so appreciable haha. It makes you feel quite relieved to be able to choose various samples as a first-time visitor♪ Once back home, we immediately sampled everything. The freshly cut Apple Pie at 480 yen was irresistible right after exiting the shop!! The meltingly soft and delicate Apple Pie collapses easily, but the freshness and sweetness were outstanding!! The Honey Walnut Pie also provided a crispiness that you can enjoy♪ The simplicity highlights the high quality of the ingredients!! The sliced bread like Complet, English Rope, Meringue, etc., exuded a lovely wheat aroma mixed with acidity and sweetness as soon as you opened the bag♪ Ah, yes, this is real even without tasting it!! The moment you taste it, the strong acidity is followed by the wheat's fragrant scent in your mouth, creating an illusion that is truly impressive. I feel like I have encountered the magnificence of yeast for the first time. After trying this bread, you might wonder what those shops that sold yeast as their specialty were all about. There seems to be a difference in levels that makes you question everything. That's why I can't stop exploring the top 100 shops haha. It's great to have new discoveries and reflections on this bakery♪

During the festival at Yoyogi Hachiman Shrine, I stopped by twice while passing by. I always get my usual vegetable pizza and a bonus bread. The vegetable pizza is cold but delicious. I enjoyed eating it while walking and sharing a little with everyone during the procession. It's a great shop!

On the way to Yoyogi Uehara, I happened to pass by and entered this place for the first time. Back in my younger days when I was obsessed with organic ingredients, this bakery always stood out at every store. Their bread made from natural yeast and organic ingredients may be a bit pricey, but the dedication to quality is evident and I felt safe eating it. Now, what did I buy this time? - Cheese bread (350 yen) - Quiche (380 yen) These prices are excluding tax. The cheese bread has a big chunk of Comte cheese in the middle and the wheat-flavored dough is delicious. As for the quiche, I found it intriguing after hearing the explanation at the store. Beneath the cheese, there is a fluffy soy-sauce flavored brown rice! And it is sprinkled with black sesame seeds. When warmed up, the soy sauce aroma blends well with the melted cheese. The whole-grain pastry is fragrant and satisfying in one serving, almost like a meal on its own. I definitely want to try this again. The interior of the store gives off a natural and casual vibe typical of organic food stores, without any excessive embellishments. It feels very much like Levain. I will make sure to stop by again if I'm in the area.

Lovely little bakery. Whenever I have the chance, I make sure to buy a good amount of their delicious scones. Just like other reviewers have mentioned, you never know what kind of scone you'll get each time. One day it's filled with dried fruits and spiced up. Another day it's soft and has a banana flavor that spreads in your mouth with each bite. There are many types of scones out there, but I really enjoy the chewy texture and deep flavors of these scones. This bakery is perfect for people who appreciate authenticity and enjoy the artsy atmosphere. I recommend pairing their scones with the pesticide-free red tea from Mizumura Farm called "Gogatsu."

Thursday at around 14:20, visited the bakery with one customer already inside. All the bread here is big in size, and they slice it according to your order. Everything looked delicious, but this time I chose: - Cashew Cherry (¥2.3/g) 250 yen - Melange (¥2.3/g) 730 yen - Campagne 317 (¥1.5/g) 570 yen Total: 1,550 yen (1,674 yen with tax) I mentioned that I would share it with my family and made a slightly unreasonable request, but they kindly agreed. The bread ranges from big to small sizes, and you can choose your favorite size and have it sliced as you like. When I got home, I shared the bread with my family: - Cashew Cherry: The sourness of the cherry is very strong. It tasted great when eaten with the nuts and bread together. - Melange: My personal favorite this time. It had plenty of small pieces of sultana raisins and walnuts. Very addictive to eat. - Campagne 317: A classic sourdough bread that never gets boring. It had a nice saltiness and the flavor of whole wheat. Everything was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

After doing yoga, today at Levain Tokyo in Tomigaya. I encountered their new pie - Yuzu Pie, with lemon and maple syrup spread on it, refreshing and slightly sweet. Levain's pies have such a simple flavor, I wonder why. I love Levain so much, the scones are available too. Excited to try the Yuzu Pie and the scones, full of anticipation! #LoveBread #BreadLover #LevainTokyo #Scones

During my student days, I wanted to live in the beautiful neighborhood of Yoyogi-Uehara, where there were stylish apparel shops and restaurants, but the rent was too high. I aspired to a more elegant lifestyle, enjoying breakfast with the bread from this place.【Access】Located somewhere between Yoyogi-Uehara and Yoyogi-Hachiman.【Good Points】The bread here is delicious.

The last stop on the Yoyogi-Uehara tour is here ♡ I remembered about the Yoyogi-Uehara tour, but also passed by this bakery store and Jensen's Bakery on my way to school from a young age (*′艸`*). I didn't have money for school lunch, so I never stopped by, but visited for the first time after all these years! ◆Access◆ 10 minutes from Yoyogi-Uehara Station, 5 minutes from Yoyogi-Hachiman Station. The Hachiman location is more convenient. I think it's closer if you turn left after passing under the railroad crossing. ◆Operating Hours and Store Atmosphere◆ It was almost closing time, only one other customer and myself. Most of the bread was sold out, but there were two types left! ◆Order◆ Iyo-chan, Belvedere ◆Details◆ Iyo-chan is as the name suggests (๑´ㅂ`๑) LOL, a bread with Yuzu and nuts, the bitter taste of the skin was nice too! I like the name too (*′艸`*). The Belvedere is packed with figs, dried fruits, and nuts! It's more like eating dried fruits and nuts than just bread (*´꒳`*). ◆Impressions◆ After all these years, I finally visited this bakery and it was very delicious (◍′◡‵◍). I will visit again soon ♡

About a 5-minute walk from Yoyogi-Hachiman station. The exterior looks more like a cafe than a bakery. They have a small variety of bread, mostly on the hard side. They sell bread by weight, but they also have pre-cut options. Today I tried the Cheese Volcano for 240 yen, Pan Compre for 360 yen, and got a slice of Pan des Egrilles as a bonus. The Pan Compre was a steamed bread with a chewy texture that tasted delicious even on its own. The Pan des Egrilles, which I received as a service, had a rye flavor and a crunchy texture, giving a cheesy taste even though there was no cheese in it. I think I'll have to buy it next time. The Cheese Volcano had plenty of cheese and was baked in the oven. Overall, everything was very delicious. Thank you for the meal.

The next morning, I bought takeout for breakfast. When I visited in the evening, the options were limited. They sold by weight, and I purchased Cashew Cherry and their famous Campagne bread. It was quite heavy, totaling 1015 yen. Both were well-baked hard breads with a fluffy inside. They both had a sour taste, similar to German bread, and the cherry's sourness was unique.

The croissant was freshly baked, so I enjoyed it inside the cafe with soup and coffee. They also offered a unique quiche made with brown rice. The croissant had a crispy outer layer and a soft inside, with a subtle natural yeast aroma. It was pure bliss to eat it freshly baked. The brown rice quiche had a wonderful combination of flavorful brown rice, crispy pastry, and cheesy topping. Such deliciousness!

I had once tried to find the Levan bakery near Yoyogi Uehara Station before, back when I didn't use a smartphone, but couldn't locate it. This time, thanks to Google Maps, I successfully found it. The interior of the shop has a cozy atmosphere resembling a log cabin in a fairytale forest. Although the selection of bread and pastries is not extensive, there is still joy in carefully selecting and discovering new items for first-time visitors. Most bread is sliced and sold by weight, which I found delightful as I wanted to try a variety of options. I bought six different types, but only the Berbedele pastry was saved to be enjoyed later. The whole wheat country bread had a strong tang, perfect for pairing with stew. The rye country bread had a hint of sweetness and aroma that set it apart from the plain whole wheat one. The cashew and blackcurrant bread, and walnut bread had a distinct sourness in the dough that made them unique compared to typical nut bread. The butter croissant had a noticeable buttery scent but lacked fluffiness due to the whole wheat, giving it a biscuit-like texture. Finally, the Berbedele was moist and flavorful the next day, filled generously. While I may not fully understand the depth of sourness in their bread yet, I feel like going back there again sometime.

⭐️ Tabelog - Pan Hyakumeiten (23 Years - 6th month - 14:00 visit) Starting from Yoyogi Uehara, I visited a hundred famous shops. This shop has a homey atmosphere and items are sold by weight, so feel free to ask the staff for what you want. I tried the "Campagne 317" bread, cut in a small portion to buy. It had a sophisticated taste with a slight tanginess. I purposely saved some for the next day to compare. The next day, it had a chewier texture and a smoother tanginess, allowing me to savor the goodness of natural yeast. The scone for 240 yen was recommended by the staff. It was dense with a mild sweetness, leaning towards personal preference, but I wouldn't repurchase. The Black Sugar and Walnut Pound Cake for 90 yen had a homey, subtly sweet flavor. Although it may not be my regular go-to, it's a unique shop with distinct characteristics in the area.

A bread using homemade yeast made from natural fermentation. Outside the entrance, there is a "Free Box" cardboard box. If there's something you want, you can take it from the box and take it home. You can also put things you don't need in there. It's nice that the bakery is taking on a recycling role. When you open the door, it has a slightly different atmosphere than a regular bakery. It has a rustic, burnt-brown overall look. They aim to create the image of a mountain hut in the European countryside. They mainly sell hard bread, and they sell it by weight! Although I'm not sure about the concept of selling by weight in grams, some bread slices were pre-packaged, and others were sold individually. I bought a packaged bread that caught my eye. It was about 5cm thick and heavy due to being a hard bread. The bread I purchased was: - Green Raisin Bread ¥2.0/g 1g = 2 yen It had a stronger tanginess compared to regular raisins, and it was delicious even when eaten with cream cheese. The Green Raisin Bread is sold every other week.

First visit, arrived at 14:40 with 2 customers already there. There were 2 customers inside the store and the staff was explaining things patiently, so I had to wait for my turn. There weren't many options at the time, so I decided to buy the walnut honey pie for 350 yen. The pie crust was crispy and had a nice texture, and the walnuts inside were really fragrant and delicious. The sweetness of the honey was subtle, making it easy to enjoy as a dessert. They mainly focus on hard bread here, and it seems like they put a lot of effort into their creations. I would love to try more in the future. It was very delicious. Thank you!

Between Yoyogi-uehara and Yoyogi-hachiman, there is a shop that specializes in hard bread. Today, I bought the "Marinage and Cream Cheese Sandwich" and the "Cheese Compote". The bread is a little sour and the flavor deepens with each bite. I want to buy a little of each one and eventually try all the varieties.

On Saturday, it was sunny and I arrived around 5:00 PM. In the evening on Saturdays, about 10 types of baked goods were being sold, including freshly baked scones. They had sandwiches, sweet bean butter sandwiches (sold by weight), French toast (sold by weight), scones (2 pieces), and meringues (sold by weight) available. There were also many delicious looking bread with plenty of fruits displayed at the counter. They had a simple and rustic feel, but you could sense a unique character from the yeast. Among the things I tried today, the scones stood out with a crispy exterior and a soft, hollow center, perfectly balancing the flavor of the nuts and the deliciousness of the dough. It was very tasty. Additionally, they mentioned that you can bring the bread to the café next door and enjoy it immediately.

Visited this retro bakery a short walk from Yoyogi Park as part of my quest to explore 100 different shops. The unique atmosphere and display method of this bakery set it apart from others. I purchased their French toast by weight and it was delicious! Perhaps the best French toast I've ever had. I definitely want to visit this bakery again in the future.
