This is the Ginza flagship store of Matsuo Jingisukan, a chain with a history of over 60 years, located on Sanhara Street in Ginza. Jingisukan is a famous dish from Hokkaido, and this restaurant is part of a chain that originated in Takikawa City in Hokkaido. I visited for lunch on a Sunday. Orders are placed using a tablet. When you order, a staff member comes to set up the grilled vegetables in the Jingisukan pot and starts the fire for you. It's convenient to not have to do anything.
- Special Lamb Lunch (1800 yen): Includes 150g of meat, grilled vegetables for one, soup, and rice. You can choose from large, regular, or small rice portions, which is nice. During lunch hours, soft drinks are all-you-can-drink.
- Mutton Lunch (1400 yen): Includes 150g of meat, grilled vegetables for one, soup, and rice.
- Udon noodles to finish (320 yen): You can eat the meat once both sides are grilled and the color changes. The meat is marinated in a secret sauce, so seasoning is not necessary. It's easy, but if you want to adjust the flavor to your liking, be aware. The lamb is tender, while the mutton has no gamey taste and a slightly chewy texture. The sauce is rich, making the rice go down easily. The udon noodles are soft but have a good chewiness. You can eat them once they turn a fox color from simmering in the broth after finishing the vegetables. Overall, the portion sizes are just right, and with large rice, free drinks, etc., the price of around 1500 yen is quite cost-effective for Ginza. Thank you for the meal.
