Restaurants Ka-miya, a Western-style restaurant located in the peaceful area of Iriya. This restaurant has been selected as one of the Top 100 Restaurants in the 2022 Gourmet Restaurant Guide for Western cuisine. Originally founded in 1939 as an imported goods store in the downtown Negishi area, it later transitioned into a Western-style restaurant shortly after the war. The name "Ka" in the restaurant's name comes from the first owner's love for high-class and perfume, according to the staff. Today, the restaurant continues to be popular across generations and has even been featured in the Michelin Guide Tokyo 2023 as a Bib Gourmand restaurant.
The specialty dishes at Ka-miya include the "Beef Stew" created by the second-generation owner and the "Menchi Katsu" perfected by the third-generation owner, both of which are the most popular dishes on the menu. The restaurant continues to thrive by fulfilling the request for high-quality dishes without cutting corners, providing a taste of the traditional business town. Despite being located in a quiet area with a traditional atmosphere, the restaurant's impressive exterior and charming signboard make it stand out. Upon entering, we were greeted by the staff and guided to our table.
The spacious dining floor was elegantly set with clean tablecloths, and the soft music in the background added to the calming ambiance of the restaurant. The menu offers a variety of à la carte dishes and set courses, allowing customers to customize their favorite items into a course meal. Set course menus range from 7,000 yen with a variety of choices. Our companions, who are regular customers, confidently ordered the following dishes:
- Onion Gratin Soup: 1,600 yen
- Bread: 250 yen
- (Small) Shrimp Fry with Tartar Sauce: 2,100 yen
- (Small) Crab Croquette: 2,100 yen
- Menchi Katsu and Beef Stew Assortment: 3,500 yen
- Omurice (Omelette Rice): 2,500 yen
- Custard Pudding: 800 yen
The meticulously crafted Western-style dishes at Ka-miya delighted our hearts! The numerous pieces of silverware on the table built our anticipation for the upcoming dishes. We started with the Onion Gratin Soup, topping it with the grated cheese we brought. The soup was sweet and flavorful, with the beautifully melted cheese adding richness to each spoonful. Next, we shared the Shrimp Fry and Crab Croquette, both of which had a light and crispy coating that complemented the tender seafood inside. The Menchi Katsu and Beef Stew assortment was a standout, with the Beef Stew offering a melt-in-your-mouth texture and a rich, savory demi-glace sauce. The Menchi Katsu was bursting with juiciness and flavor, making it a perfect pairing with the accompanying bread.
To finish off the meal, we shared an Omurice dish, which was a simple yet flavorful plate of rice wrapped in a fluffy omelet. The dish was satisfying and comforting, with each bite showcasing the skillful preparation and quality ingredients. Our dining experience at Ka-miya was truly a culinary delight, with each dish surpassing our expectations and leaving us fully satisfied.
