In Taito-ku, Iriya, there is a restaurant called Kameya that was established in 1925 and is one of the oldest Western-style restaurants in Tokyo. The popular B set meal includes: hors d'oeuvres platter, consommé soup, fish dish (oyster fry on suzuki poêle), beef stew (or beef cutlet for this day), bread (or rice), salad, seasonal dessert, and coffee. The hors d'oeuvres platter consisted of salmon with foie gras terrine and ratatouille, the consommé soup was excellent, and the oyster fry on suzuki poêle was delicious with fresh and tender oysters. The beef stew was also tasty, although personally I prefer the beef stew from another store in Asakusa. The refined atmosphere and exquisite dishes made the dining experience very enjoyable.

- Established long-standing restaurant in downtown area offering high-class Western cuisine - Open since 1925 - Chef: Mitsuo Odakura - Location: 8-minute walk from Iriya Station - History and name origin (from official website): In October 1925, a fancy import goods store was founded in the bustling "Negishi" district of the geisha world. The founder, known for being very fashionable and fond of perfume, used the character for "fragrance" in the store's name. Originally, the store sold coffee beans and began serving light meals upon request from geishas, gradually transitioning into a Western-style restaurant. Shortly after the war, the establishment reopened as a full-fledged Western restaurant in its current location facing Yanagi Street. The second generation, who had previously worked as a ship's executive chef, established the foundation of the current restaurant. Their signature dish became the "Beef Stew," which was different from traditional stew and uniquely styled, just like the "Menchi Katsu" dish created by the third generation. The restaurant catered to locals who worked nearby, offering delivery services and serving lunch at odd hours outside regular lunch times. They always aimed to provide high-quality dishes demanded by locals, maintaining the tradition of serving regular menus anytime. The restaurant continues to be supported by the locals who appreciate the authentic cuisine and service. - Menu: B Set Menu: 8,500 yen - Appetizer Plate: Classic and refreshing - Chilled Consomme Soup: Clear and cooling - Bread: Warm and soft with excellent quality unsalted butter - Pan-Seared Suzuki with Mustard Sauce: Classic and flavorful - Beef Stew or Filet Beef Cutlet: Sweet sauce reminiscent of early Japanese-Western cuisine - Side Salad: Traditional style - Assorted Desserts: Blancmange, sorbet, and whipped cream - Coffee: Rich and bitter - Atmosphere & Service: The restaurant has a sophisticated adult atmosphere with attentive and professional service. - Summary: Highly recommended for those who appreciate classic gourmet cuisine. A nostalgic dining experience that allows you to taste the history of Japanese-Western cuisine. Enjoy the unique dishes served in a welcoming atmosphere.

I visited this restaurant during the day without a reservation, it had been quite a while, probably about 5-6 years since my last visit. However, when I go to my friend's place in Ueno Sakuragi, they always get takeout from this Western-style bento place for me. The customers tend to be older, and the atmosphere is calm and relaxing (reservations recommended). Located along Yanagi Street, I stopped by after finishing my errands and was able to get a table right away. I ordered the minced cutlet and rice. I really like the egg sandwich that smells of Kaoriya butter, but I felt a bit embarrassed to order both items for myself. I appreciate restaurants that operate throughout the day, it's a blessing. I enjoyed my meal, thank you. *I like the second floor.

Beef curry is 2,000 yen and the salad with coffee set is 1,000 yen. The curry has a mild spiciness, but a rich flavor with high-quality chunks of meat. It feels like the perfect example of Western-style curry. The salad in the set is also beautifully presented and the vegetables taste fresh, it's impressive. Next time, I will try the Hayashi Rice (2,700 yen).

Visited the restaurant on a weekday after 3pm, with no other customers there. Ordered the popular item, Menchi Katsu. It was served in about 10 minutes. The Menchi Katsu had a beautiful shape, typical of a Western-style restaurant. When I cut into it, juicy meat juices spilled out, giving a juicy feel even before tasting it. The actual taste did not disappoint –juicy and meaty, yet not overly heavy, and it paired well with the demi-glace sauce. The texture of the coating also added to the overall quality of the dish. I can see why it's so popular. Looking forward to what I'll try next time. Also, it's nice that the restaurant has its own parking lot.

I visited a long-established Western-style restaurant in Iriya for the first time. Although it was around 3 pm on a weekday, there were about three groups dining inside, which was very pleasing as you can eat even at this time. The variety of Western dishes on the menu allows you to choose from a wide selection without getting bored. I was torn between ordering the Napolitan & onion gratin soup, or the beef tongue stew, but I decided to try the beef tongue stew & extra rice to experience the difference from other restaurants. It took about 15 minutes for the food to be served. The beef tongue was surprisingly firm and had a nice bounce to it, while the stew was rich with a deep sweetness and a hint of bitterness. It paired perfectly with the white rice. The prices for Western dishes are a bit high, but the calm atmosphere inside the restaurant, the attentive service, and the fact that they are open from noon until night without a break make it possible to enjoy a leisurely meal at your convenience. There is also a parking lot available. The minced cutlet seems to be very popular, so I definitely want to try it next time. I will definitely visit again.

Walking in the steamy heat for 15 minutes, I arrived at a sophisticated western-style restaurant with a calm atmosphere. I started by quenching my thirst with a beer and ordered some food. I got the appetizer and the menchi-katsu. The appetizer was delicious, especially the prosciutto and the cream puff pastry. The main dish, menchi-katsu, was served with two large pieces and tasted even better with Worcestershire sauce. Thank you for the feast!

I made a reservation and visited on a hot sunny Sunday. It seemed like a special day for many families, with lots of gatherings and ceremonies. There were many large tables with lots of people. I ordered the small Menchi Katsu for 1,500 yen, the Tamago Sandwich for 1,400 yen, and an Orange Juice for 600 yen. The Menchi Katsu was delicious! When I cut into it, the juicy meat came out, and I almost wanted to drink it directly from the meat. The mashed potatoes on the side with melted cheese were also delicious. The Tamago Sandwich was so good! The fluffy omelette filling had a tantalizing buttery aroma. Even after leaving the restaurant, the taste lingered in my mouth. It was a bit naughty, but dipping the Tamago Sandwich into the meat juice from the Menchi Katsu with Demi-Glace sauce was amazing. The Demi-Glace sauce was also delicious, so I'm sure dishes like stew or hamburger would be great too. Since I was alone today and no one could accompany me, I visited on my own. While waiting, they kindly provided me with a magazine called "Flavor Notebook". I appreciated this thoughtful gesture. The taste and the consideration shown at this restaurant have made me a fan.

It has been decades since I last visited Isetan Shinjuku store. Maybe around 30 years ago? I recently had a craving for Menchi-katsu and decided to revisit. The Menchi-katsu was still delicious as ever, and the Tamago-sando was also incredibly tasty. I had a great time chatting with the staff about the old days and celebrating my daughter's birthday. Thank you so much, I will definitely visit again.

The restaurant has a lovely interior design that is slightly different from typical Western-style eateries. The clientele consists of well-mannered people who enjoy their meals quietly. The seasoned sommelier provides excellent service. The classic macaroni gratin with béchamel sauce, light egg sandwich, and perfectly balanced menchi katsu were outstanding. The crab cream crepe at the end was sophisticated and delicious. The wine, priced around 4,000 yen per bottle, was surprisingly good quality and an excellent deal. Overall, it's a special place where you can enjoy both wine and Western cuisine.

Let's go to the Kashimiya in Iriya! I visited with a vague feeling. I hesitated a bit between the special Western-style bento or a la carte. It's hard to choose from the a la carte menu, but I decided on a la carte because I can eat only the things I like. I ordered the hamburger steak, combination salad (small), and a classic lager in a small bottle. While waiting for the food to be ready, I was given a booklet to pass the time (laughs). First, the combination salad arrived, and I had the dressing poured in front of me. It was a proper salad. After finishing it, the main dish of hamburger steak and rice was served. The hamburger steak with a rich demiglace sauce and juicy meat is orthodox and seriously delicious. I hope this longstanding Western-style restaurant will continue to thrive as a renowned store.

This is a long-standing Western-style restaurant founded in the 14th year of Taisho. I was seated on the second floor. The high ceiling and sophisticated atmosphere gave a refined feel to the place. I ordered the following a la carte dishes: - Crab croquette - Seafood crepe gratin - Menchi katsu - Beef stew - Egg sandwich - Beef cutlet sandwich It was a day with many group customers, and the waiter mentioned that the service might be a bit slow. The seafood crepe gratin would take about 30 minutes to prepare. After placing the order, I was asked about the order in which I would like the dishes to be served. I left it up to them. Thirty minutes after ordering, all the dishes were brought almost at the same time (laughs). I wanted to enjoy all the dishes while they were hot, but towards the end, some of them had already cooled down, which was disappointing. It was a bit strange that even though it's a high-class Western restaurant, they didn't serve the dishes following a course order when ordering a la carte. The taste of all the dishes was delicious, but what left a lasting impression on me were the sandwiches. The egg sandwich was fluffy with a lovely buttery aroma, absolutely delicious. The beef cutlet sandwich is not on the menu, but if you ask for it, they will make a sandwich with a beef cutlet, a hidden menu item. Based on the total bill, it was probably around the same price as the beef cutlet sandwich, about 5500 yen. I left the frying level up to them. The rare pink color in the cutlet slice is beautiful! The beef had a good thickness but was incredibly tender and juicy. The menchi katsu and beef stew were as delicious as rumored. The crab croquette was also tasty with lots of crab meat, but it might have been even better if it had been served hot. The seafood crepe gratin had large chunks of ingredients like shrimp, scallops, and white fish. Because it had cooled down, it's difficult to give an accurate evaluation... It was a delicious meal, and the atmosphere and service were great, so if the serving method had been better, I would have given a higher rating!

The flavors were delicious and the service was great, making it an enjoyable experience. I will definitely visit again! The assorted appetizers were 2,600 yen and the bread was 250 yen. The appetizers included smoked salmon, rillettes-filled choux pastry, seafood terrine, pate en croute, stuffed boiled eggs, sauerkraut, and escabeche. The sauerkraut and escabeche were surprisingly good, but the rest of the items were very tasty. The atmosphere is calm, with mostly middle-aged men in black suits providing courteous service. The customers are mostly elderly, creating a relaxing atmosphere. The appetizers were unexpectedly generous, so I had to skip other items, but I look forward to enjoying a full meal after summer. Overall, I highly recommend it. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Restaurants Ka-miya, a Western-style restaurant located in the peaceful area of Iriya. This restaurant has been selected as one of the Top 100 Restaurants in the 2022 Gourmet Restaurant Guide for Western cuisine. Originally founded in 1939 as an imported goods store in the downtown Negishi area, it later transitioned into a Western-style restaurant shortly after the war. The name "Ka" in the restaurant's name comes from the first owner's love for high-class and perfume, according to the staff. Today, the restaurant continues to be popular across generations and has even been featured in the Michelin Guide Tokyo 2023 as a Bib Gourmand restaurant. The specialty dishes at Ka-miya include the "Beef Stew" created by the second-generation owner and the "Menchi Katsu" perfected by the third-generation owner, both of which are the most popular dishes on the menu. The restaurant continues to thrive by fulfilling the request for high-quality dishes without cutting corners, providing a taste of the traditional business town. Despite being located in a quiet area with a traditional atmosphere, the restaurant's impressive exterior and charming signboard make it stand out. Upon entering, we were greeted by the staff and guided to our table. The spacious dining floor was elegantly set with clean tablecloths, and the soft music in the background added to the calming ambiance of the restaurant. The menu offers a variety of à la carte dishes and set courses, allowing customers to customize their favorite items into a course meal. Set course menus range from 7,000 yen with a variety of choices. Our companions, who are regular customers, confidently ordered the following dishes: - Onion Gratin Soup: 1,600 yen - Bread: 250 yen - (Small) Shrimp Fry with Tartar Sauce: 2,100 yen - (Small) Crab Croquette: 2,100 yen - Menchi Katsu and Beef Stew Assortment: 3,500 yen - Omurice (Omelette Rice): 2,500 yen - Custard Pudding: 800 yen The meticulously crafted Western-style dishes at Ka-miya delighted our hearts! The numerous pieces of silverware on the table built our anticipation for the upcoming dishes. We started with the Onion Gratin Soup, topping it with the grated cheese we brought. The soup was sweet and flavorful, with the beautifully melted cheese adding richness to each spoonful. Next, we shared the Shrimp Fry and Crab Croquette, both of which had a light and crispy coating that complemented the tender seafood inside. The Menchi Katsu and Beef Stew assortment was a standout, with the Beef Stew offering a melt-in-your-mouth texture and a rich, savory demi-glace sauce. The Menchi Katsu was bursting with juiciness and flavor, making it a perfect pairing with the accompanying bread. To finish off the meal, we shared an Omurice dish, which was a simple yet flavorful plate of rice wrapped in a fluffy omelet. The dish was satisfying and comforting, with each bite showcasing the skillful preparation and quality ingredients. Our dining experience at Ka-miya was truly a culinary delight, with each dish surpassing our expectations and leaving us fully satisfied.

I had been interested in a Western-style restaurant for a while and was indecisive with the many menu options, but I ended up trying the recommended set menu featuring menchi-katsu. The set included a choice of bread or rice, salad, and a drink for an additional thousand yen. The service at the restaurant was friendly and the explanation of the menu was very thorough. The menchi-katsu itself was not the usual dry meat, but thick and juicy with a perfect balance of meat juices and crispy coating. It was incredibly delicious.

"Koumiya" is a Western-style restaurant located in Iriya, which has been selected as one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog. The restaurant has a history dating back to 1925, making it about 100 years old. It has a classy French vibe rather than the typical local diner atmosphere. This time, I tried their signature dishes - beef stew and minced cutlet. The minced cutlet had a crispy coating, juicy meat, and a deep flavor, especially when paired with the demi-glace sauce. The beef stew was tender with a hint of umami and bitterness, making it a perfect match with rice. Visiting again, I realized how delicious this Western-style restaurant is. I wandered through a difficult time for several years, but my benefactor always took me out to enjoy a meal once or twice a month with care and compassion. I am truly grateful. I visited their restaurant, and it exuded a noble atmosphere. The attention to detail in all the dishes was impeccable, and the flavors were truly unforgettable. As I headed home with a full heart, I hope to be able to repay their kindness soon. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

"Hamburg Steak from Restaurant Kōmioya | Iriya The hamburg steak from Restaurant Kōmioya is truly an exemplary dish. When you cut into it, the meat juice bursts out vigorously. The marbling pattern of the overflowing meat juice and demiglace sauce on the plate is enticing. As you take a bite, the smooth texture gently envelops your teeth, and the savory flavor of the meat mixes with the distinctive tanginess and sweetness of the demiglace sauce, filling your mouth. The taste is refined, elegant, and pleasing, like a class representative loved not only by classmates but also by teachers. It may not be a boldly memorable flavor, but the hamburg steak from Restaurant Kōmioya is delicious in a heartfelt, satisfying way."

The traditional Western-style restaurant on Yanagi Street in Iriya is a place I used to visit with my wife when we lived in Tokyo. We must have been there about ten times. It's a place where you can feel a bit of elegance. Last Golden Week when my wife visited Tokyo, we considered visiting this restaurant, but we ended up having French cuisine at Nikko Kanaya Hotel. We don't usually eat similar dishes consecutively, so I thought about where to go for Western food during Golden Week, as many places are closed. It had been about five years since I last visited this restaurant. This time, it was just me and a colleague. It may have been around 10 years since my wife and I visited together. The atmosphere of the restaurant, the quality of the food, nothing had changed since I last visited. This place has been connecting traditions since the Taisho era when it used to be a geisha district, which is traditional and very reassuring. We ordered a regular salad and asparagus salad (both 1,000 yen), along with the restaurant's popular minced cutlet (2,200 yen) and crab croquette (2,100 yen). The crab croquette is not a crab cream croquette; it's a real crab croquette. It is not very big, but it is mainly made of crab meat, unlike most cream-filled croquettes. The minced cutlet is something I have had many times at this restaurant. It's still packed with meat and juicy, cooked in a perfect demi-glace. The service is impeccable, with double the number of plates provided if you want to share dishes. The atmosphere of this restaurant is dignified, and it remains unchanged despite the changing times. While many emphasize change and innovation nowadays, which is probably necessary for business survival, incorporating change while still maintaining the essence of tradition, history, and the restaurant's prestige is what sets this place apart.

I visited for the celebration of my mother-in-law's discharge from the hospital, it was my first visit. I made a reservation in advance. At the entrance, it was mentioned that all seats were fully booked for today's reservations. It is indeed a well-established Western-style restaurant. After much thought, I decided to order the course set meal menu (recommended for those who want to enjoy each dish slowly or for business meals) A set meal for ¥7,000. It included Consomme soup, Pan-fried sea bass with tomato and basil sauce, Assorted cutlets and beef stew with demi-glace sauce, Assorted salad, and Today's dessert platter. The service was polite and all the dishes were wonderful. I particularly enjoyed the Consomme soup. Thank you for the meal, I will definitely visit again.

I visited the original shop of a restaurant called "Koumiya," which has changed its name now but used to be a nostalgic favorite of mine from when I was a child, at Shinjuku Isetan about 40 years ago. The area around the shop is quiet, in a mostly residential neighborhood, but it was full even on a weekday at 1:00 pm, with a delicious aroma filling the air. The menu was so extensive that it was difficult to choose. I originally wanted to order the "Western-style bento box," but it had shrimp inside, so I ended up sharing a "combination salad," "hamburger," "minced cutlet," and "shrimp pilaf." The hamburger had a firm texture rather than overflowing with juices, while the minced cutlet had a juicy taste. Both dishes were delicious with the sauce. This long-established restaurant, which has been around for nearly 100 years, has a dignified atmosphere. The shrimp pilaf was also satisfying with plenty of shrimp and a refined flavor. It was a delicious lunch experience, thank you.
