Sasama @ Jinbocho O-hagi is only available until today. Finally, the mornings and evenings are starting to become comfortable with the changing temperature. Along with visiting graves, another important thing is Sasama's o-hagi. I love both the koshi an (smooth bean paste) and tsubu an (chunky bean paste), so I always buy both. The bean paste with a good mouthfeel and a refined sweetness is what distinguishes them. As we head towards the end of the year, the persimmons are gradually turning red every month, and the freshly harvested ones are also available now. Ah, it was delicious! The dried sweets with chestnuts and persimmons are also cute. It's still hot during the day, but can't you feel the autumn with these Japanese sweets?

The nostalgic traditional Japanese sweets shop in Jimbocho Kanda was established in 1931. Unfortunately, they have run out of Mizuyokan last week. However, starting from October 2nd, they will be serving steamed chestnut yokan. These Japanese sweets are not only visually appealing but also have a familiar and comforting taste.

I don't usually buy traditional Japanese sweets, but I decided to visit this shop called Hyakumeiten this time. Every item is beautiful. The taste is very refined. Enjoying them with tea is a moment when I feel grateful to be Japanese. Thank you for the delicious meal.

It was a visit to a famous shop. I purchased one each of early autumn and bellflower for a total of 785 yen. The confections were traditional Japanese sweets, with a subtle sweetness and elegant taste that made me feel at ease. The shop is just a few minutes from the nearest station. It was founded in 1929 as a bakery and has a long history. The atmosphere is truly lovely. The products evoke the changing seasons, which is wonderful. I hope they continue to create history for many years to come.

Revisit. A traditional Japanese sweets shop located near Ramen Jiro Jimbocho branch. When it comes to traditional Japanese sweets shops, many are small and often sold out by the evening, making it difficult to visit. However, this shop stays open until late and you can buy various items even towards closing time, which is convenient. Their year-round menu item, "Matsuba Senbei," is perfect as a souvenir gift or as a snack at home. Finally, the hot summer of this year has come to an end, making it more comfortable to spend time outside. But wait, I feel like I'm forgetting something... that's right! I haven't eaten Kuzumochi yet. So, I hurried to buy it. I was worried it might be sold out, so I called ahead to reserve it before heading there after work. When I arrived at the shop, there was a "sold out" sign for Kuzumochi. It was a close call. Reserving it in advance was the right decision. I bought the "Kyujosakura" (380 yen) - which by the way, is not "Kuzumochi" but "Kyujosakura." This aspect of clear and concise kanji representation in texts is a unique aspect of Japanese culture. I purchased two and ate one lightly chilled and the other at room temperature. The unique texture of the authentic starch of Kyujosakura is both moist and springy, making it especially sensual when eaten at room temperature. When chilled, it becomes slightly firmer and less moist, but offers a refreshing sensation. Conclusion: Both are delicious, so enjoy them as you like. I haven't tried it chilled to see how it changes. I also bought the "Matsuba Senbei" (1 piece, 150 yen) - a small, two-finger size traditional Japanese sweet. The red bean paste is different from Kyujosakura, with a moist and smooth texture. I personally enjoy this type of red bean paste. While it is sweet on its own, it balances well with the senbei outer shell. Eating it when the outer shell is still crispy is good, but I prefer to wait a day so that the harmony between the outer shell and red bean paste becomes stronger. As I write this review, I realize that by the time it is posted, Kyujosakura at this shop will no longer be available. If you want to try it, you'll have to wait until next summer.

On this day when I had a morning business trip, I decided to visit here before returning to my desk. This long-established Japanese sweets shop truly lives up to its reputation. The customer service was extremely polite. Their specialty is the pine needle-shaped crisp wafers filled with sweet red bean paste, and they certainly delivered on quality. Although they are small, the red bean paste is well-prepared and has a glossy, smooth texture with an elegant sweetness. Sandwiched between the fragrant wafers, each bite brings happiness. Priced at 150 yen each, it is worth every penny for such delicious treats. They make excellent gifts that are sure to impress. I had a blissful time enjoying these treats with a cup of hot tea. Please note that they only accept cash. Thank you for the delicious treat.

『Exploring 100 Famous Eateries in Kanda on a Holiday』【No.1】My week usually ends on Sundays. Since I have weekdays off, I look forward to relaxing on Sundays. Today, I ventured into the "Kanda area"! I got off at "Ochanomizu Station" and walked to "Kanda Station", exploring 100 famous eateries along the way. First, I visited "Ogashi-dokoro Sasama", a traditional Japanese sweets shop.【Nearest Station/Location】Located about a 7-minute walk from Ochanomizu Station. Exit Ochanomizu Station, walk along Meiji Street, cross a large intersection, and you'll find it there.【Purchasing Method】There is no seating inside, so it's for takeout only. I ordered from the display case filled with beautiful traditional Japanese sweets, and the staff kindly packed them for me. They also allowed me to order individual pieces.【Visit Time/Day】I arrived around 10:10 AM on a Monday. Since there were no other customers, I had a leisurely time browsing.【Ordered Items】Each individual sweet was priced at a flat rate of 380 yen tax included. I bought 3 sweets that had a smooth red bean paste filling. I chose "Kyususakura" (a rice cake-like sweet with red bean paste), "Mizuyokan" (sweet red bean jelly), and "Hatsugan" (a steamed bun with red bean paste).【Impressions of the Sweets】All of them were delicious, but the "Kyususakura" stood out with its chewy texture and perfect combination of outer layer and red bean paste. It was a selection of sweets with red bean paste, but each one was elegant and truly tasty.【Special Note】In the modern city, the tranquil atmosphere and traditional Japanese sweets at this shop made me feel a connection to Japan's rich culture. The consistent pricing of 380 yen per piece was clear, but buying 3 sweets for 1140 yen felt slightly luxurious, considering the portion size. However, the meticulous taste of the sweets left me fully satisfied and content with my purchase. While the pricing is reasonable, I couldn't help but imagine an even greater sense of delight if each piece was under 300 yen. This shop is truly wonderful. How about buying some traditional Japanese sweets as a souvenir after enjoying curry or ramen?

Mr. Igaki Toshihide, president of Sherry Rose Co., an educator in human resources, and director of the Etiquette Beauty School, released his 19th book, "Living Life on a Gentle Updraft," on August 24, 2023. To commemorate the release of the book, a celebratory dinner was held at the French restaurant "Mona Lisa Marunouchi Store." Veteran genius writer Mr. Nakanishi, who has been in charge of my books for many years, brought a special gift with him, which was these "monaka" (Japanese sweets). Mr. Nakanishi, who loves Japanese sweets, went out of his way to buy the "most delicious monaka" in the scorching heat and bring it to the restaurant. Later that evening, we tried the rumored monaka. The first thing that surprised me was its thinness, about 1 centimeter. The outer layer was crispy, with a moist and smooth red bean paste inside. It had an elegant taste, and one piece was enough to satisfy. Overall, it was thin, but the skin was not tough, with just the right amount of crispiness. The smoothness of the red bean paste was also delicious. I usually prefer whole bean paste, but I was deeply impressed by the smoothness of the red bean paste in this monaka. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

The two pine needle senbei were not as delicious as I had anticipated. The atmosphere of the shop was nice with beautiful plum blossoms blooming. However, the taste was disappointing. The address is 1-23 Kanda Jinbocho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo. The phone number is 03-3294-0978. The business hours are from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday to Saturday. Closed on Sundays and public holidays.

I visited a small traditional Japanese sweets shop in Jinbocho. I stopped by on my way back from browsing second-hand bookstores. They offer seasonal fresh sweets. I particularly enjoyed the Kusu Sakura dessert on the left in the photo, with its smooth and slightly sweet red bean paste. The texture was refreshing with a hint of chewiness from the arrowroot starch. The overall impression was of a slightly sweet red bean paste that was smooth and creamy, with a lingering taste of the beans. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

After having lunch in Jinbocho, I looked for some sweets to take home. I noticed a Ramen Jiro place along the way but decided to check out a quaint Japanese sweets shop instead. The staff there were very polite and the seasonal fresh sweets on display caught my eye, but I was concerned about the heat so I opted for the pine leaf-shaped rice cake for 150 yen. The skin had a crispy and light texture, while the sweet red bean paste inside was moist and flavorful. Despite its small size, it was satisfyingly sweet. I think sweets are best when they are properly sweet. I don't really need them to be less sweet.

I often bring "Sasama" brand matsumono as a small gift, and many people are delighted by how delicious it is. I personally love them too, so I often end up buying extra and snacking on them myself. Although they have seasonal traditional sweets as well, I always end up getting the matsumono. I think next time I'll try buying something different.

Just a 4-minute walk from Jimbocho Station is the well-established Japanese confectionery store "Gashinodokoro Sasama" founded in 1931. The store initially opened as "Sasama Pan" in Kanda Ogawamachi in 1929 by the former owner Shigeki Sasamaki. In 1931, he opened the current Japanese confectionery store "Gashinodokoro Sasama" in Surugadai Shita. The store has been focusing on creating confections suitable for tea ceremonies since its establishment. They offer year-round products such as "Matsuha Monaka" as well as seasonal fresh confections. I recently purchased the following fresh confections: "Mezamashi," "Kumo no Mine," "Mizore Kanten," and "Tamagawa." They were all elegantly sweet and delicious, perfectly complementing bitter tea. The appearance of the confections is also lovely and brings a smile to your face just by looking at them. Since the products change with the seasons, visiting the store is always exciting. This is a store that I want to cherish for a long time.

[Shop Name] Sasama [Order Content] Sweet Bean Paste-filled traditional Japanese confectionery called "Nakashuki" [Review] The Nakashuki with sweet bean paste from Sasama had an elegant taste that brought out the flavor of the ingredients. It wasn't overly sweet, and the rich aroma of the sweet bean paste spread throughout the mouth. It paired exceptionally well with green tea, creating a delightful flavor with each bite. The crispy outer layer of the confection complemented the smooth sweetness of the sweet bean paste inside perfectly, allowing me to enjoy a luxurious moment. [Day of Visit] It was a very hot summer day, so I opted for takeout as there was no seating available. [Staff] The staff at Sasama were enveloped in a warm hospitality. They provided kind assistance when placing the order, and offered detailed explanations about the Nakashuki and other types of traditional Japanese confectioneries. Their attentive and heartwarming service, in tune with the atmosphere of the shop, left a lasting impression.

The cream puffs here are exquisite. You can usually buy them if you go there. The expiration date is four days. After that, the crunchiness of the cream puff is gone. Smooth red bean paste filling. Recently, T-san from ⭕️Juku praised the cream puffs here. Truly a hidden gem in Jinbocho that is not easy to find.

I bought some very impressive traditional Japanese sweets here yesterday, and I just had to come back the next day because I really wanted to eat them again. The photos show hydrangea, impatiens, and plum blossom sweets. Even if you're not familiar with Japanese sweets, you'll be drawn to them when you see the actual products. I had them as a dessert last night, and they were delicious. They were very elegant and the flavors were delicate. The last photo shows the sweets displayed at the storefront. Seasonal Japanese sweets really help you feel the changing seasons. I will definitely come back to buy more. Thank you for the treat.

I have been going to Jimbocho for years and I never knew there was such a highly rated Japanese sweets shop here. I arrived at the shop around 12:20 on a weekday and was surprised by how impressive the store looked. For a moment, I hesitated, but then I gathered my courage and went in. The interior of the shop had a clean and solemn atmosphere. I was told that I could buy just one piece of the famous pine leaf sweet, but it would be handed to me directly in a paper bag. If I wanted it in a box, I would have to buy 6 pieces. The staff at the shop were very kind. I bought 2 pieces as a snack for the afternoon. I spent 2 minutes in the shop and later around 3 PM, I ate the pine leaf sweet on a bench in Otemachi. It was delicious! The sweet bean paste inside was smooth, perhaps with some starch syrup. The sweetness was just right. The thin outer layer had a crispy texture. I may not know much about Japanese sweets, but I could tell that it was delicious. It had been a while since I had such a high-quality sweet, and I felt a bit out of place, but the impression of the purple hydrangea wagashi that was being sold at the shop without me having any knowledge of wagashi was very striking. I later found out that this shop is famous among tea ceremony practitioners. I want to eat more high-quality wagashi. I really want to. I will definitely go back for another visit soon. The pine leaf sweet was delicious! Thank you for the meal.

Hydrangea, Tamagawa, thank you for the delicious meal♪ Located a 4-minute walk from Jimbocho Station on the Tokyo Metro, this shop is a great choice. I visited in the early evening on a weekday. I took out some Hydrangea and Tamagawa, fitting for this season. (I forgot to take a photo of the Tamagawa.) They were cute in appearance and had a gentle, moist taste. Occasionally experiencing the season with Japanese sweets is a nice idea.

I finally got the chance to purchase a seasonal wagashi called "Ajisai" that can only be enjoyed during this rainy season for the first time in 5 years since learning about it. It is a wagashi that expresses the full bloom hydrangeas of this season. While I was paying, there was a person who had reserved dozens of hydrangea wagashi. It is definitely popular. The items I purchased this time: Seasonal Wagashi: "Ajisai" - One piece for 380 yen. It looks like a hydrangea, a seasonal limited wagashi. The inside is white anko (sweet bean paste) and the square texture around it is nice. Wagashi: "Sanae Kintsubu" - Light green wagashi. It is quite soft with a lot of moisture, and the inside is smooth anko. This was my favorite among the three. Wagashi: "Nadeshiko" - Pink flower petal-shaped wagashi. Relatively less moisture, and the inside is smooth anko. It is a representative wagashi that is commonly eaten. *Seasonal wagashi changes every month on the 25th. Year-round item: "Matshuba Monaka" for 150 yen. Best before 5 days at room temperature. Anko mixed with mizuame (water candy), the anko with high moisture stretches. It contrasts well with the monaka. Considering travel distance and shelf life, this might be a more reliable choice for souvenirs. The staff members were quick and attentive, even putting rain covers on because the weather was changing. Good customer service was noticeable. Thank you for the delicious treats!

Standing at the intersection, the store should be on the other side! I couldn't see it because of the big tree, but as I approached the front of the store, two people came out. They're open! Seasonal sweets on the exterior window, including Mizuyokan. I opened the sliding door and went inside. There was one customer ahead of me, so I looked at the display case and wanted to try various items. I ended up buying Nayanae Kintan and Mizuyokan, and enjoyed them when I got home. I will definitely visit again.
