野良パンダム
Revisit. A traditional Japanese sweets shop located near Ramen Jiro Jimbocho branch. When it comes to traditional Japanese sweets shops, many are small and often sold out by the evening, making it difficult to visit. However, this shop stays open until late and you can buy various items even towards closing time, which is convenient. Their year-round menu item, "Matsuba Senbei," is perfect as a souvenir gift or as a snack at home. Finally, the hot summer of this year has come to an end, making it more comfortable to spend time outside. But wait, I feel like I'm forgetting something... that's right! I haven't eaten Kuzumochi yet. So, I hurried to buy it. I was worried it might be sold out, so I called ahead to reserve it before heading there after work. When I arrived at the shop, there was a "sold out" sign for Kuzumochi. It was a close call. Reserving it in advance was the right decision. I bought the "Kyujosakura" (380 yen) - which by the way, is not "Kuzumochi" but "Kyujosakura." This aspect of clear and concise kanji representation in texts is a unique aspect of Japanese culture. I purchased two and ate one lightly chilled and the other at room temperature. The unique texture of the authentic starch of Kyujosakura is both moist and springy, making it especially sensual when eaten at room temperature. When chilled, it becomes slightly firmer and less moist, but offers a refreshing sensation. Conclusion: Both are delicious, so enjoy them as you like. I haven't tried it chilled to see how it changes. I also bought the "Matsuba Senbei" (1 piece, 150 yen) - a small, two-finger size traditional Japanese sweet. The red bean paste is different from Kyujosakura, with a moist and smooth texture. I personally enjoy this type of red bean paste. While it is sweet on its own, it balances well with the senbei outer shell. Eating it when the outer shell is still crispy is good, but I prefer to wait a day so that the harmony between the outer shell and red bean paste becomes stronger. As I write this review, I realize that by the time it is posted, Kyujosakura at this shop will no longer be available. If you want to try it, you'll have to wait until next summer.
