Feeling overwhelmed by the crowd, I decided to walk on the relatively empty side street instead of the center. Around 3:30 pm, I noticed a long line at a matcha sweets specialty shop next to the long-established Kimuraya. There were more than 10 people waiting, including many foreigners. Intrigued, I decided to join the line. I chose the Matcha Warabi Ice Cream for 670 yen as I wanted to try both matcha warabi mochi and soft serve. The soft serve was incredibly rich and creamy, with a slight bitterness that made it delicious. The warabi mochi was also a treat, with a subtle bitterness that balanced out the sweetness. Inside the shop, there were various matcha sweets for sale, but I resisted the temptation to buy more and continued my food exploration journey.

Next to Sensoji Temple, there is always a long line at this shop, so I finally decided to wait in line. I ordered the matcha warabi mochi in a cup, and it had a good texture and was satisfying to eat. The sweetness was elegant and not too overwhelming. It's enjoyable to walk around and search for the next delicious treat while eating.

Matcha flavor is the best! I was looking for something cold and came across this delicious looking ice cream! Matcha ice cream♪ Such a nice color♪ I couldn't decide between regular and intense matcha, but I went with the standard one first. Even the regular one has a strong matcha flavor! The sweetness and matcha flavor were really good. The ice cream went all the way to the bottom of the cone, so I was very satisfied♪ If I have the chance, I would like to try the intense matcha next time♪

I used it alone while taking a walk in Asakusa. It feels like a shop selling matcha sweets that are commonly found as souvenirs. The store only has standing seats, but there is also an eating space. I had a matcha soft serve ice cream. Honestly, it was quite small, but Asakusa has a variety of food to try, so this size might be just right. Thank you for the meal.

If you come to Asakusa, you should try matcha sweets. I visited a shop near Senso-ji Temple's Hozomon Gate and tried the "Warabi Mochi and Sweet Gelato Matcha" set. The Warabi Mochi didn't have a strong sticky texture, and the Sweet Gelato Matcha was rich and delicious. Thank you for the meal, it was a great experience.

By chance, my matcha-loving wife and I stumbled upon this place and I decided to join in. I had a matcha latte (378 yen) which was just the right amount of sweetness for my taste. It warmed me up and was delicious! The shop had a variety of matcha sweets, so I picked up an Uji matcha rare cheesecake as a souvenir. It was about the size of a golf ball and had a firm texture. The matcha flavor was strong, but the cheesecake was a bit on the hard side. Thank you for the meal!

A matcha shop found in Asakusa. There is seating space at the back of the store.
- Matcha (cold)
- Matcha warabi mochi
The warabi mochi is large with plenty of matcha and kinako powder! The matcha is not sweet, but you can adjust by adding syrup. Sweet matcha is delicious, but it was also delicious as it is. I'm curious about the matcha soft serve too.

Today, I was working near Asakusa. I finished work early and decided to stroll around and buy some souvenirs. After passing through Hanayashiki and Nakamise Street, which was still crowded, I bought the classic set of sweet potato yokan and anko dango from Funawa. Feeling like I needed more, I went to a shop called Matcha Sweets Chawan in a green area near Asakusa Temple. It wasn't too crowded, so I decided to buy souvenirs here. I originally planned to just buy souvenirs, but the matcha soft serve looked delicious, so I got one. It was a blend of bitterness and sweetness, really delicious. After finishing the matcha soft serve, I realized I needed to buy a souvenir for my girlfriend. However, I was already satisfied from the ice cream, so I didn't feel like buying much more. I randomly chose matcha macarons and matcha dango as souvenirs. When I got home and gave the souvenirs to my girlfriend, she seemed to prefer warabi mochi. She complained a bit, but enjoyed the tea snacks. The matcha macarons were made with matcha, as expected, but if you're looking for authentic macarons from a cake shop, you might be disappointed. The dango and other treats were tasty within the realm of souvenir sweets.

Asakusa Temple, why isn't it called "Asakusadera"! It's confusing! When you think of Asakusa, you think of Kaminari Bar and Mamekan, right? Personally, I'm curious about Kaminari Bar, but I'm not finished as a person to drink beer in the morning and then have Denki Bran as a chaser. So, I'll go for something sweet instead. The sound of "sweet" and "Kaminari" is almost the same, right? I've been looking for Mamekan that I read about in "The Lonely Gourmet," but I can't seem to find it anywhere. So, I gave up and had matcha ice cream instead. It's at the far end on the right side of Nakamise Street. "Chawawa Asakusa Store" Wide-Satoukibi Bar Bamboo "Matcha Soft Serve" [Photo taken with Hozomon Gate in the background] It has a strong matcha aroma. It looks crumbly, but the texture is actually soft serve ice cream. Delicious! I don't eat the cone (waste of stomach space), so I broke it into pieces and fed it to the pigeons. Suddenly, pigeons started gathering from everywhere, and children and adults alike rushed over, saying "It's the pigeons," and in the center of it all, there was a man feeding the pigeons... What a situation, so embarrassing! I quickly stuffed the cone with matcha ice cream still on it into my pocket and ran away. Don't chase me!

This time, I went to Asakusa again for a loach set meal, but they have stopped serving lunch sets and now it costs 3000 yen... Hmm, I don't feel like going if it's that expensive, so I visited Senso-ji Temple instead. No matter when you come, there are always too many foreigners, which can be tiring, but I still come. I tried the matcha soft serve at a slightly disappointing place here. It was 500 yen, and I also got two matcha cookies for 130 yen. The matcha flavor was not very strong, but the cookies were delicious and crispy with a hint of butter. Thank you for the meal! Thank you for visiting and reading.

I stopped by around 5 o'clock in the evening on a regular day. After visiting Sensoji Temple and feeling a bit hot, I saw a matcha soft serve shop right in front of me and decided to go in. It is a shop that sells souvenirs and food and beverages for tourists, with branches nationwide originating from Kyoto. The matcha soft serve costs 400 yen and is slightly small, but it has a refined matcha flavor that is easy to eat. It is delicious, but lacks a bit in terms of portion size. They also sell various matcha sweets like warabi mochi. Next time, if I come across another branch, I will try the matcha ice cream.

Located just before Senso-ji Temple's Hozomon Gate, this matcha specialty shop offers a variety of matcha sweets. They have a few seating options towards the back of the shop. Their soft serve comes in two flavors: rich matcha and regular matcha. The rich matcha is made from freshly hand-picked new tea leaves and is less bitter, suitable even for children. If you enjoy bitterness, the matcha soft serve is recommended. I chose this shop over the one next door because I wanted to taste delicious matcha. The Sweet Gelato matcha flavor (500 yen) comes in a slightly smaller cone and is not piled too high. It has a refreshing taste without the bitterness, more like green tea soft serve. As you eat, you'll notice that the top part of the cone is hollow, but the ice cream inside is satisfying. Although delicious, the portion is small and the price is a bit high. I might have preferred the matcha flavor or the shop next door. Taste: ★★☆☆☆, Value for money: ★☆☆☆☆ to ★★★☆☆
