In the hot summer, it's a great idea to eat some hot yakiniku to boost your stamina. So, I went to "Yakiniku Motoyama" in Shinjuku. The area is full of restaurants, but you won't have trouble finding it with the outdoor sign. The interior is calming with a black theme, but the customers chatting and smiling over their yakiniku create a lively atmosphere with the sizzling sound of the meat on charcoal. We started with a toast with a "Medium-sized draft beer for 759 yen" and enjoyed the "Wagyu seared yukhoe for 1,408 yen". The freshness of the meat was evident even though it was lightly seared, and the richness of the fat was delightful. Then, we moved on to the main course with the "Kobe beef three-point platter for 2,200 yen (for 2 people)". The sirloin, short rib, and tenderloin were all delicious, but the tenderloin stood out for its balance of lean meat and marbled fat. We savored it with wasabi soy sauce. Next, we tried the restaurant's specialty, the "Meat brick for 3,278 yen". This impressive piece of meat was seared on all sides for 20 seconds each. The staff then cut it, revealing a perfect balance of lean and fatty meat. We enjoyed it with garlic butter soy sauce, which enhanced the flavor. For a change, we also tried it with salt. Feeling like having more meat, we ordered the "Premium three-point platter for 4,268 yen". The oyster blade, triangle roast, and hot pepper were all luxurious cuts. We lightly seared them as they were prone to overcooking. The oyster blade, with its melting fat, was our favorite. It literally melted in the mouth. The triangle roast, with less fat, was also delicious. It was a nice mix of rich and chewy textures. For the finale, we had the "Stone-grilled garlic rice for 968 yen". It was pressed into the bowl to create a crispy crust, and the combination of meat, butter, and rice was pure happiness. It was a bit heavy for a finale, but when you're at a yakiniku restaurant, you want to savor the meat until the end. We left feeling satisfied after about 2 hours. The continuous stream of customers coming in also left an impression. With its convenient location and delicious meat, it's no wonder this place is popular. Thank you for the meal.
