Showa retro cafe in Ebisu, but for some reason the name of the shop is Ginza. Smoking is allowed in all seats. After having a pizza lunch and still having room in my stomach, I decided to explore the town of Ebisu and stumbled upon a cafe that felt like a time slip! The prices were clear with a drink included for a flat rate of 1,000 yen, so I decided to check it out. I visited on a Tuesday at 12:55, and the seating rate was about 60%. However, more and more customers kept coming in, and within 15 minutes, the front part where I was seated (referred to as "up" by the staff) was full. The interior of the cafe had a retro feel, like a snack bar from the past. There was even a DJ set, so I wondered if they use it for events or something. Since it was always full, I couldn't take many photos inside the cafe. Even though it was a late hour, I noticed that quite a few new customers were coming in, and it seemed like a third of them were there for smoking rather than ordering food, just having drinks. I looked at the menu and ordered the special ginger stir-fry. The dish arrived in about 5 minutes. It was decent, like a regular tasty set meal, although the rice was a bit soft for my liking. After finishing my meal, I waited for a while but didn't see any sign of the staff coming to take my drink order, so I assumed it was a system where I had to call out to let them know I was ready. I ordered an iced coffee, and it arrived in 2-3 minutes. When asked if I wanted milk and sugar, I requested both. I mistakenly thought the clear liquid was the sugar when I tilted the white milk pitcher, but it turned out to be the syrup. The milk was actually in the silver container, which was the opposite of what I had in mind. The total bill was exactly 1,000 yen including tax, and payment was cash only. Since most of the customers were there for smoking, non-smokers might want to avoid it as cigarette smoke comes from all directions.
