I visited Seikine, where Yamasei-san also trained in Matsumoto City. It has a warm and homely atmosphere. First, I tried the grilled white fish. The portion was generous! Next was a microleaf salad. The grilled cod milt with olive oil was delicious. The fried softshell turtle was a great palate cleanser. Then there was softshell turtle liver grilled with sweet vinegar. Softshell turtle soup followed by softshell turtle rice porridge. Finally, an eel bowl! Despite the large portions, I somehow managed to finish everything cleanly.

Tokyo Akasaka's "Seikine" is a restaurant that specializes in eel kaiseki focusing on eel from Shizuoka and softshell turtle from Hamanako. It operates by invitation only, with only 2 groups of up to 4 people each per day. The master, Sekine, wants guests to feel relaxed and enjoy their meal as if they were at his home. Photos inside the restaurant are allowed for personal use but not for public sharing. Sekine trained at "Seiroku" in Hamamatsu and is a disciple of "Seirin." His apprentice is popular at "Yamase" in Matsumoto. During the visit, we enjoyed a course of eel dishes including grilled white eel, local grilled eel, liver grilled with fins, and an eel bowl, all of which had elegant and clean flavors. The eel dishes paired well with champagne and wine. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

One of my dreams came true. This restaurant only accepts 2 groups per day and operates on a referral basis, making it difficult to make reservations. I had always wanted to visit this place, and finally, I had the opportunity to do so. While we were allowed to take photos of the food, we were asked not to post them on social media. So, I will only share a photo of the storefront and my impressions. To be honest, I think this is the most amazing restaurant I have ever been to. The food was excellent, but what stood out even more was the meticulously designed space and the attentive yet perfectly balanced service from the owner and his mother. It felt like being welcomed into a cozy home. I truly enjoyed the dining experience. Mr. Sekine's personality was also wonderful, and I could understand why they operate on a referral basis. We had a set course meal, and here is what we had: - Steamed eel - Sea bream and myoga with olive oil - Steamed whitefish - Fried sweetfish - Moroheiya and grated yam - Eel fin and liver grilled - Beef tongue stew - Eel bowl (steamed, grilled) - Pickles - Mango Each dish was incredibly delicious, and it's a shame I can't share photos. The eel was prepared and grilled on charcoal. The sauce had a rich yet not overpowering sweetness, and the aroma was delightful. The cooking method for both steamed and grilled eel was outstanding! The high heat cooking resulted in a crispy texture. The eel was tender, fluffy, and fragrant, capturing the umami and flavor beautifully. The eel and cooking method were both exceptional. The steamed eel had a refreshing taste with a light white fish texture, while the grilled eel had a strong umami and crispy texture. Both were equally delicious, but personally, I preferred the grilled eel. The sweet sauce from Mr. Ikioi paired perfectly with it. Both the steamed and grilled eel were top-notch in taste. The rice was freshly cooked and slightly soft, complementing the eel perfectly. The rice was sweet, showing their dedication. What surprised me was that everything besides the eel was also perfect. I was amazed by how delicious everything was! I won't go into detail, but the quality was exceptional, not what you would expect from an eel restaurant. Especially the fried sweetfish! I want to eat it again. The price is on the higher side, but with everything being so delicious, it's understandable. The food, ambiance, and hospitality were all top-notch! It was truly an amazing restaurant. Building connections with people is important. It has become a place I want to visit again and again. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

Introducing a highly recommended eel restaurant with a referral system, where reservations are difficult to come by. Their eel course with an eel rice bowl as the finale is exceptional! The dishes come out quickly, and the quality is top-notch. They have won the prestigious Eel Top 100 award for 3 consecutive years! With only 2 groups allowed per day, getting a seat here is a rare opportunity. The atmosphere is like coming back to your own home. I visited on July 18, 2020, and the eel course was delicious, with the ingredients being well-utilized. The cooking of the eel was so impressive - it was cooked perfectly! Although the price is a bit high, the content is worth it. It was so delicious! Thank you for the feast.

Awarded the Bronze in the Sekine Food Log Award 2020, this eel restaurant is one of the top 100 eel restaurants in Japan for 2019. It is located less than a 10-minute walk from Akasaka Station. As a referral-only establishment, new customers must visit with a referrer to gain entry. Reservations are highly recommended due to the popularity of the restaurant. The interior offers counter seating as well as private rooms. While photography is allowed, the use of camera shutters is prohibited. In addition to their delicious eel dishes, the course menu also includes tasty options such as surf clam, sea urchin, grilled white asparagus, softshell turtle, and two types of eel dishes.

It was delicious. The speed at which the dishes came out, the not too strong seasoning, the way the alcohol paired well with the food, the atmosphere of the restaurant, and the personality of the chef, all of it was satisfying. I got to try both shioyaki and kabayaki, so I enjoyed feeling the difference between them. Honestly, it's a bit pricey, but I was very satisfied. I will definitely visit again.

Gourmet Pork's daily dining out gourmet pork log 100 famous restaurants in the eel division, 90th out of 100. I went to have eel at Unagi Akasaka Seikine-san. When I tried to make a reservation over the phone, I was asked, "Who recommended you?" I replied, "No one recommended me, but I'm from Gourmet Pork." I was immediately rejected. Since I couldn't visit at my level, I begged a famous gourmet person to help. And just like that, I was able to make a reservation. Connections are indeed important! Thank you as always. It's about an 8-minute walk from Akasaka Station, close to Roppongi as well. The restaurant is located in a prime location in Tokyo! It's on the 1st floor of the Akasaka Residential Hotel. I entered as soon as they opened at 6 p.m. They have counters and private rooms available. Currently, it seems like they are not offering lunch or counter seating. I was guided to a private room. The dishes are omakase only and cost 25,000 yen per person. I had eel with Kinjiso and Kagura Nanban, clams with caviar, shirako with dashi, quail which had a slight odor, grilled liver, grilled shirako, turtle soup, and eel rice bowl. You can choose between grilled and steamed eel, and I chose steamed. I compared it with the grilled eel my friend ordered, and personally, I preferred the steamed one. The dessert after the meal cost 29,000 yen per person without alcohol. I wonder if there is consumption tax and service charge on top of the 25,000 yen. I felt like the cost performance was slightly lacking. 30,000 yen for an eel dish is not something the common people can easily afford. Nevertheless, I was able to enjoy a course meal in a private room with my friends. The landlady's service was also good. If you are a fan of eel, this is a restaurant you should visit at least once.

I believe there is no better restaurant than this. For me, it is the best eel restaurant. I love eel. I have tried various eel dishes in places like Nishio, Fukui, Kokura, Odawara, Shizuoka, Gifu, but I don't know any other place that provides such excellent service and serves me the best eel dishes. My wife, who is a tough critic when it comes to eel, even agrees that the eel at Akasaka Seikine is the best. I have taken her there three times, and one of those times, we were treated to a meal. She really seems to like it. Since it is a famous restaurant with a referral system that turns away walk-in customers, it's not easy to get a reservation. I consider myself lucky to have made a connection with this place. It started out as just a good eel restaurant, but it quickly became famous, making it difficult to get a reservation and increasing the prices. Even though I have been living away from Tokyo for a while now, I still want to visit this restaurant again. I need to seriously plan my next visit.

I had a course meal of natural eel and soft-shelled turtle. From grilled eel to broiled eel, liver dish, soft-shelled turtle soup, and fried dishes, I was able to enjoy a variety of classic cooking methods. The dishes were well-prepared and the ingredients were of high quality, so there was no unpleasant smell and I was able to finish the meal comfortably. The price was not cheap, but it was delicious enough to justify it.

I visited "Unagi Akasaka Seikine" in Akasaka in July 2016. The restaurant is located on the first floor of a building about an 8-minute walk from Akasaka subway station. It's also not far from the Roppongi intersection, taking less than 15 minutes to walk there. Although it's in a building called "Akasaka Residential Hotel," it's not a hotel but a mixed-use building. I haven't been there for a while, but I have visited this place several times over the past 10 years. The restaurant has counter seats and private rooms. On this day, I visited with a friend and reserved the 15,000 yen eel course (the price at that time). The course included: 1. Fried horse mackerel 2. Pickled vegetables 3. Grilled eel liver 4. Clam soup 5. Grilled eel 6. Eel rice bowl (with pickles and soup) Drinks: - Draft beer - Sake (several types, but I don't remember the names) The course started with fried food, which was a bit surprising, but the horse mackerel had a crispy coating and a juicy texture. The clam soup was exceptionally delicious. The eel was thick and tender, with a rich flavor. The sauce for the eel rice bowl was tasty, and the rice was cooked to my liking, slightly firm. The owner was sincere and provided very polite service, leaving a good impression. In addition to eel, they also offer a course with softshell turtle. When I visited, the eel course was 15,000 yen. I'm not sure about the current price, but it seems to have increased by about 10,000 yen. The pricing may be a bit high, but it's a great place to enjoy delicious eel in a relaxed and calm atmosphere. I would like to visit again for eel after a long time. Thank you for the meal.

This is my go-to eel restaurant that I visit once a month. In addition to eel, they also offer turtle hot pot and grilled skewers. They have a wide variety of wines, with the owner storing many valuable wines in the wine cellar next to the counter. The hittsumabushi for finishing is surprisingly light and delicious. I tend to drink a lot of alcohol, so I usually ask for half a serving of hittsumabushi and take the rest home as a souvenir. Due to the restaurant's management policy, they only accept reservations for a maximum of 4 people per seating, making it very difficult to secure a reservation. It seems like you have to book 2-3 months in advance. I am looking forward to visiting again!

This place has been taken to occasionally even before it received a Michelin star. Although I haven't been here recently, I think this restaurant serves the most delicious eel. Gifu is known for having many delicious eel restaurants, but I find this place to be the best. The service is humble and welcoming, making you feel at ease. If possible, I would love to visit this place again.

The restaurant requested that photos of the food not be posted on the internet or social media. I was guided by a regular customer this time. The eel was delicious (personally, I would prefer a slightly sweeter sauce), and the softshell turtle dish was absolutely amazing. I heard that if you consult when making a reservation, you can request a hot pot or porridge with softshell turtle as the main dish. I would love to try that next time.

The quality of eel is excellent, and I believe that the quality of soft-shelled turtle in Japan is also top-notch. It is naturally free of any unpleasant smell and has a rich flavor. Eel and soft-shelled turtle are served in various cooking styles. The soft-shelled turtle soup with a beautiful broth and the perfectly grilled eel are exquisite. The minimal seasoning enhances the quality of the ingredients, and although the price is on the higher side, the satisfaction level is worth it. If you can visit the restaurant once or twice a year...

I was so moved to find a restaurant specializing in eel with such great service and delicious food. I was lucky to be able to go because it's by referral only, but I was looking forward to more than just eel. I was surprised to find they also served horse meat and soft-shelled turtle soup, and even more surprised by how delicious they were. I think it's a blessing to have been able to visit such a place. I want to introduce and invite special people to this restaurant. It truly is a top-notch establishment. The lingering feeling of happiness stayed with me the next day as well.
