The world is in chaos due to the typhoon, with train services suspended and Tokyo Station in disarray. Amidst the confusion, I decided to have lunch at a yakitori restaurant in the deep zone behind Midtown Yaesu.
-----------ORDER-----------
In the back of the first floor, preparations are underway. The second floor features a showcase with skewered yakitori and a smoky grilling area surrounded by an L-shaped counter and table seating.
- 4 Yakitori Bowl (called Yondon)
I wondered how many skewers would be appropriate, and decided on 4. The skewers were lined up in the showcase, then taken out one by one and grilled on the charcoal grill. The smoke rising up made me crave a beer (but I resisted). Finally, the skewers arrived. At first glance, I doubted whether 5 skewers would fit.
- Chicken Breast: incredibly tender with a perfect sunset color. Not raw, but fresh and close to raw. The sweetness of the meat pairs well with wasabi.
- Meatball: unexpectedly raw on the inside, with a charred exterior. The sauce enhances the sweetness of the minced meat.
- Thigh Meat: juicy and just right, with a sauce that isn't too sweet.
- Skin: sprinkled with sansho pepper, it was crispy and fragrant.
- Chicken Soup: light and refreshing, perfect with the slightly firm white rice.

-----------Aside-----------
Why are there so many renowned yakitori restaurants near Yaesu? Perhaps it's because of the large number of salarymen in the area. I'm not sure. As for my favorite yakitori spots in Yaesu:
- Isehiro Kyobashi Honten
- Eiichi
- Kyobashi Miyagawa
- Toriyaki Miyagawa
