Located about a 5-minute walk from Tokyo Station in Kyobashi, is the main store of Isehiro, a renowned yakitori restaurant. This place, beloved by many famous literary figures, is a must-visit for yakitori enthusiasts. In October 2020, it moved from an old wooden building with a nostalgic atmosphere to a splendid 5-story building. The skilled artisans at the restaurant carefully prepare and grill fresh chicken delivered every morning over Ubamegashi charcoal, maintaining the same delicious taste. I love the yakitori here and have visited the old location many times. Tonight, I invited a friend to visit the new location for the first time and enjoyed the yakitori with a history of over 100 years. The yakitori course at Isehiro includes various dishes such as chicken skewers, organic pesticide-free vegetables, special chicken soup, and a selection of beverages. The new building has a counter on the first floor, counter and table seating on the second floor, and counter, sunken kotatsu seating, and private rooms on the third floor. The restaurant has a ventilation system that prevents smoke from the grilling area from reaching the dining area, making it a safe environment amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you for the wonderful meal. I will definitely visit again.

The number one restaurant I wanted to go to was unexpectedly closed, so I decided to have lunch at "Isehiro Kyobashi Honten," a yakitori restaurant near "Kyobashi Station." They offer delicious yakitori for a reasonable price in the form of "set meals" and "yakitori bowls." 【Nearest Station/Location】 Located about a 3-minute walk from "Kyobashi Station" and less than a 10-minute walk from "Tokyo Station." It appears in a side street with a "ryokan-like atmosphere." 【Visit Time/Day】 I arrived around 12:00 on a weekday Tuesday. There were 3 groups of customers waiting, and the first-floor floor was opened as a waiting area, so I could sit and wait comfortably. The next morning after staying in Nagoya, I took an early morning Shinkansen from Nagoya to Tokyo to watch a documentary film called "Shina & Rockets - Makoto Ayukawa: The Bond of Rock and Family" at a movie theater in Yurakucho at 10:45. Makoto Ayukawa was the guitarist of "Shina & Rockets", known for his wild and emotional playing style. Unfortunately, he passed away in January 2023. The film not only showcased the band's performances but also depicted the straightforward way of life of Ayukawa and his family, who loved both their family and rock. It was a touching experience. After watching the movie in Yurakucho, I went to "Isehiro Kyobashi Main Store" for lunch, which is a long-established yakitori specialty restaurant founded in 1921. I ordered the "Yakitori Set (6 skewers)" and an Asahi Super Dry beer. The staff kindly asked if I wanted the rice for the set after the skewers, to which I agreed. The beer arrived first, and I enjoyed it before the yakitori and chicken broth soup were served. The skewers included various types of chicken, each with its unique flavor. I particularly enjoyed the salt-grilled skewers like the meatball, gizzard, and chicken skin. The yakitori was juicy and delicious, and it paired well with the beer. The meal was satisfying, and I left the restaurant feeling content.

I stopped by here because I've been eating at only the top 100 traditional Japanese sweets shops and wanted something savory. During lunchtime, I waited 10 minutes inside the restaurant and then it took another 20 minutes for the food to be served after being seated at the table. The taste was delicious and the restaurant is more spacious and Japanese-like than before, so it's also recommended for foreign visitors.

I have not tried yakitori from all over Japan, nor have I been to other famous yakitori restaurants. However, I will never forget the excitement I felt when I first tried Isehiro's yakitori bowl. Even before the era of Tabelog, I could not imagine a better yakitori or chicken dish. Today, they offer a 9-piece set for 3900 yen and a 5-piece set for 2300 yen. Each skewer is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, elevating yakitori to a whole new level of chicken cuisine. I highly recommend the tsukune (referred to as "tango" at the restaurant), where the rich flavor of the meat is enhanced by the condiments. The inclusion of cartilage adds a crunchy texture that enhances the overall experience. While the prices may be a bit high for lunch, the satisfaction it brings is worth it, which is why I have recommended it to others in the past. The 9-piece set for lunch includes: chicken tenderloin, chicken meatballs, chicken skin with salt, chicken liver, chicken thigh with leeks, gizzard, chicken thigh with green onions, chicken thigh with leeks and salt, chicken skin with sauce... all of them are exquisite! Oh, and it also comes with chicken soup and rice (refills are allowed). There's more I want to write, but that's for next time!

Amidst the confusion, I decided to have lunch at a yakitori restaurant in the deep zone behind Midtown Yaesu. -----------ORDER----------- In the back of the first floor, preparations are underway. The second floor features a showcase with skewered yakitori and a smoky grilling area surrounded by an L-shaped counter and table seating. - 4 Yakitori Bowl (called Yondon) I wondered how many skewers would be appropriate, and decided on 4. The skewers were lined up in the showcase, then taken out one by one and grilled on the charcoal grill. The smoke rising up made me crave a beer (but I resisted). Finally, the skewers arrived. At first glance, I doubted whether 5 skewers would fit. - Chicken Breast: incredibly tender with a perfect sunset color. Not raw, but fresh and close to raw. I went to Isehiro in Kyobashi! I have gotten takeout from the Nihonbashi Takashima location before, but this was my first time dining in the restaurant❤ The store has been renovated and looks beautiful. I arrived around 11:45 on a weekday and there were about 10 people in line. Five minutes later, the first 5 people went inside, and then the next 5 of us were given menus to place our orders. I ordered the 4-skewer donburi with the option to change the meatballs to liver, and requested less rice! It cost 1900 yen. About 5 minutes later, I was led inside the restaurant, but not to my table. I had to wait on the first floor for a bit before being guided to the second floor and seated at the counter. After about 10 minutes of waiting, the soup arrived first, followed by the donburi✨ The beautifully grilled chicken skewers included chicken breast, liver, thigh meat, and skin. The chicken breast was slightly raw but paired perfectly with wasabi. The liver was tender, and the skin was unique with meat attached, making it quite satisfying. My favorite was the thigh meat, it was truly delicious. The shishito peppers and green onions were also tasty❤ Watching the grilling process while waiting was quite enjoyable. The three-piece bowl with chicken tenderloin, tsukune, and thigh costs 1300 yen, which is quite expensive for me as I usually only go to yakitori places that cost around 100 yen per skewer. The yakitori here was tender and delicious, and the sauce was also good. As I was leaving, I saw someone change the chicken tenderloin in the three-piece bowl to liver. I'll try a different combination of skewers next time!

I visited the restaurant 40 minutes before it opened on a holiday, and there was already a line. Luckily, I was able to get in on the first round. You can see the chicken skewers being grilled from the counter, and the sound of grilling and the appetizing smell of the food increase your expectations. On the first floor, there was someone skewering the chicken through a glass window. I'm not sure about the old store, but the new store was a place where you could enjoy the view. I ordered the 5-piece yakitori bowl (2300 yen). The types of chicken included were chicken breast, meatball, negima (chicken and green onion skewers), chicken thigh, and liver. The chicken was grilled with good charcoal, not too fatty, and tasted refreshing. I'm not a fan of liver, but the liver here didn't have a strong smell and was delicious. It was also nice to have shichimi (seven spice blend) and sansho (Japanese pepper) on the table for seasoning. The prices were not cheap, but it's a place I'd like to go when I want to eat delicious yakitori.

The seating includes a counter with about 10 seats and three tables for four people each, totaling 12 seats. I ordered the "Godon" which is a bowl with five skewers of yakitori for 2,300 yen. You can get a free extra serving of rice, which is recommended for men. The portion is not overwhelming, so you can finish it easily. The bowl is beautifully presented with a generous amount of deliciously grilled yakitori on top of rice seasoned with a light sauce and garnished with seaweed, shishito peppers, and green onions. The sight and aroma of the perfectly grilled chicken, using Ubame oak charcoal, is truly impressive. This restaurant is great for business lunches during the day and offers a traditional yakitori course menu for dinner, suitable for various occasions. It is conveniently located near Tokyo Station's Yaesu exit, just a 3-minute walk from Kyobashi Station on the Ginza Line. Isehiro, located in Kyobashi, has been in business since the 10th year of Taisho era. On October 19, 2020, they moved to a new location right across from their old store, which resulted in a reset on their food log status. I had visited them before, but now they have moved to a new place with multiple floors, making it easier to get a seat without waiting in line. I decided to order a 9-piece skewer set for 3500 yen, as I had previously tried their 4-piece donburi which was a bit ordinary. The skewers included liver, meatball, chicken skin, chicken breast, thigh, gizzard, and more. The chicken is freshly prepared every morning and grilled carefully over charcoal, resulting in a juicy and tender texture. They also offer free rice refills, which is a plus point. However, there were some aspects that I did not enjoy. The servers brought all 9 skewers at once, including the last two pieces on top of the skewers I was already eating, which felt a bit rushed and awkward. By the time I got to the later skewers, they had already cooled down. Additionally, the rice seemed a bit dry and not very appetizing. While the concept of avoiding lines and getting to eat at a well-known establishment like Isehiro without waiting is nice, the rushed and assembly line style of serving the skewers was a bit off-putting. I wish I had stuck to ordering their grilled chicken bowl like I did last time.

I visited this restaurant before it relocated, and it's my first time revisiting in a while. I arrived 2 minutes before 1 PM aiming for the "3-item rice bowl" special, lined up at the storefront. A few people lined up as well, but as seats became available, we could sit on chairs inside the restaurant. I decided to change my order to the negi-maki (green onion roll) instead of the skewers, with less rice. Eventually, a few people at a time were taken up to the 3rd floor by elevator. When we got off, there were individual seats separated by a counter, and tables and raised seating areas for two. The interior of the restaurant was clean, with a small garden, creating a nice atmosphere. We were served mild and creamy chicken soup, along with green tea and a hot towel. Shortly after, the rice bowl arrived. Even with less rice, it was about 1 cup. The negi-maki had two green onions wrapped in thinly sliced meat, with shiitake mushrooms and shishito peppers, making it a healthy skewer with plenty of vegetables. The grilled chicken thigh meat was fragrant, and the chicken tenderloin was moist and went well with wasabi. I enjoyed the meal and left satisfied.

Stable Isehiro. Since the completion of Yaesu Midtown, it has become like a hidden gem along a narrow street behind a large building, even though it is a long-established restaurant. While trendy upscale yakitori dates with indirect lighting are popular, I love the reassuringly safe and traditional menu with a bright, NHK-like atmosphere. This time, I reserved a counter seat on the second floor, so I felt like the grill master was somewhat adjusting the pace of serving, but with a 7:00 reservation, the course still ended promptly in 2 hours, so be careful if you get caught up in chatting and the skewers start piling up, causing the perfectly grilled yakitori to cool down. The regular 12-skewer course is too much to finish, so this time we opted for a shorter 7-skewer course, with my companion choosing a healthy option with plenty of protein and vegetable skewers, and we were still fully satisfied. The cucumber pickled skewers between the yakitori were irresistibly delicious, making me always grateful to be Japanese. The Vietnamese student part-time staff also worked hard, providing excellent service from guiding us at the entrance on the first floor to seeing us off. I will definitely go back again. ☺️

The four-story building has an elevator and a clean, modern interior. There are many customers, including foreigners, and the staff can speak English. The food is delicious, especially the yakitori grilled carefully over charcoal. The lunch set with 4 skewers costs 1900 yen, but after 1 pm, you can get a set with 3 skewers for 1300 yen. The service can be a bit slow, but the wait is worth it. The rice is a bit soft for my liking, but the yakitori itself is fantastic. The chicken soup is lightly seasoned, which I appreciate. I will definitely come back for this delightful experience.

At lunch, there was no wait at Shoiwa Hiroshi around 12:30, but it got pretty crowded afterwards. Most people ordered rice bowls, but I went against the flow and ordered the set meal with five dishes. It was quite a generous portion. The three-bowl lunch set would have been just right. But it was delicious. I want to go back for dinner next time. The photo is of all five dishes together, but I couldn't resist and took the picture after only one dish.

Being healthy, able to energetically go to the gym, even with muscle pain being able to treat myself to a delicious lunch... it is blissful... I am grateful (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵) I am thankful for being able to do what I love and for my family. It's hot, but the joy of lunch outweighs it. I am so happy to be able to purchase the third generation Dantaro (Kenuki...) at Koya-san. The "Isehiro Kyobashi Main Store" was rebuilt about three years ago, and the exterior looks lovely♪ Furthermore, they offer a lunch special of 3 skewers of yakitori over rice (1300 yen) starting at 1 pm, which makes me extremely happy. Thigh meat, chicken tenderloin, meatballs, *the photo shows half the rice but it seems like you can get a large portion for free (^_−)−☆ The turnover is good, and we were promptly shown to the second floor. I get excited watching the skewers being grilled right in front of me (((o(*゚▽゚*)o))) It's amazing! The smoke from the charcoal rises vertically thanks to the powerful ventilation hood! The smell hardly leaks out to this side lol One head chef and four young apprentices are watching over the grilling process♪ I see... the second floor is the main area, and the skewers are carried to the first or third floor by elevator. I used to underestimate yakitori-don, but after visiting several top-rated shops, I realized that the really good places are on a different level. I visited Kyobashi Isehiro for lunch after the Bon holiday. At 1:30 pm, there was a line of about 10 people inside the restaurant. It took about 15 minutes from ordering to sitting at the counter on the second floor. I ordered a bowl with 4 skewers - chicken breast, negima (chicken and leek), tsukune (chicken meatballs), and chicken skin. The chicken breast had a touch of wasabi on top, and the chicken skin was full of delicious fat. Each skewer was incredibly tasty, with high-quality ingredients and expert grilling techniques. The chicken broth soup, with a bit of added salt, was also excellent. There is another favorite yakitori shop on the same street, but I believe this shop truly deserves its title as one of the top 100 shops. Thank you for the delicious meal.
