"Monjayaki" originated in Asakusa! Tsukishima forcefully created an image for the town's development. As someone who grew up with "Asakusa monja," I want to proudly say that! It's not a dish to boast about, but it's something you quietly make at home or enjoy as a snack in the back of a candy store. It is often compared to Kansai's "okonomiyaki," but they are not comparable! If they were, "monja" would lose. That's why I find it ridiculous to sell monjayaki with expensive ingredients for over a thousand yen. When I crave monjayaki, I make it at home on a hot plate. It's very cheap! However, in today's world, people pay for convenience and processes. Monjayaki has become more expensive and not as accessible. Recently, I discovered a few delicious "unorthodox monja" places. I visited one to try their standard okonomiyaki like "Kamimiyake Special Ten" and "Seafood Ten," which were tasty, albeit a bit small in portion. My favorite, the "Curry Mix Monja," was also very delicious! Topping it with noodles is a must. The "Carbonara Monja" with lots of cheese, black pepper, and bacon was flavorful and unique. It may lack the charm of traditional monjayaki but tasted great. The burnt cheese added a nice touch. When it gets too salty from overcooking, adding other toppings might enhance the flavor. I didn't have the courage to try other intriguing menu items like "Tantan Monja," "Raw Garlic Monja," "Miso Butter Corn Monja," or "Mapo Monja," but I believe they are also worth trying. This place seems to have a sense of trust in their unusual menu items. The balance of ingredients and seasoning can make a significant difference in the taste of monjayaki. It all comes down to the restaurant's creativity and expertise.

I was surprised by the density of the shops, but the richness of the menu, efficiency, and friendliness were very good. I was very satisfied with the taste and felt that it was quite cost-effective. However, perhaps due to the high density, it was very hot and tough under the air conditioner at times. I would like to try more side dishes next time!

I went to a restaurant that I had been to several times before with a friend. We had made a reservation, but we arrived early and asked if we could be seated. They let us in, but the staff didn't come to take our order like they used to. However, if we called them, they would come over. We ordered beer, lemon sour, mentaiko cheese mochi monja, okonomiyaki, and calzone. The drinks and monja came after a while, but the monja wasn't cooked. It seemed like we had to cook it ourselves, but we were unsure if the burner was on or not. Eventually, they turned it on for us. The mentaiko and cheese monja was delicious. Mentaiko and cheese go well together, right? The calzone was also delicious as always. Next time, I want to try the camembert cheese monja. It had a big piece of camembert on top, and it was so flavorful. It melted perfectly and went well with the beer. However, it was hard to order more because the staff didn't come by often. Maybe it's easier to order at the other restaurant.

◾️The style is to grill the ingredients by ourselves, but it was delicious! We tried both monjayaki and okonomiyaki, recommended by the staff. The seafood had a particularly firm and delicious texture. ◾️For a group of 6 people trying various dishes, it cost around 3,500 yen per person, which we thought was great value for money. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Exploring Asakusa with children. We tried monjayaki for the first time. The instructions on how to cook it were clearly written, so even beginners can feel at ease. It was delicious. We also ordered oysters from Hiroshima as an appetizer. The taste of the sea and the flavor of butter were very delicious.

A self-cook style teppanyaki restaurant in Asakusa♪ We were able to enter without waiting in line as we had a reservation, but by the time we left, there was a line forming. The Tonkotsu Monja with red pickled ginger was a great accent, and the hot and flavorful monja was overflowing with the taste of tonkotsu. They also had unique menu items like Carbonara Monja and Mapo Monja! The Natto Mix Tempura was exactly as expected with a strong natto flavor, so if you love natto, you must try it (*^^*). With a wide variety of menu options for okonomiyaki, monja, sides, and drinks, it was hard to choose what to order, but having many choices is also a good thing✨

On Saturday at 5 pm, I went out drinking since noon. I wanted to have Monjayaki in Asakusa as my last meal of the day. The popular Monjayaki restaurant had a long line, so I skipped it and came to this place instead. The restaurant was about 30% full with customers. I ordered the Mentaiko Monjayaki for 830 yen, as Mentaiko is my favorite topping. Eating Monjayaki in this atmospheric restaurant made it taste especially delicious. I wanted to order one more, but I resisted the temptation. Thank you for the meal.

Having drinks with classmates at the third bar. We felt like having some carbs, so we ordered okonomiyaki and monjayaki. We shared dishes like shrimp butter yaki, pork kimchi okonomiyaki, mixed monjayaki, and seafood negiyaki among four people. We enjoyed our meal while drinking highballs, lemon sours, green tea highballs, and beer. Despite having low expectations, the food was surprisingly delicious and reasonably priced.

Entrance and interior atmosphere, cleanliness are ☆☆☆☆☆. The staff only take orders and pass the ingredients on plates. The restaurant was almost full, but additional orders like beer were served quickly. As a result, the prices feel cheap. The dishes were full of ingredients and delicious!

During weekdays, there are limited options for restaurants open for lunch, especially during the pandemic. After being turned away from two places due to temporary closures, I finally found a place that was open. They claim to be open during the New Year holidays as well, so the chances of them being open seem high. However, since they only have around 10 tables for four people each, it might get crowded. It might be a good idea to try their larger restaurant on Shin-Nakamise Street if it's busy. They operate on a one-drink minimum policy. At first, the owner seemed a bit brusque with his fast speech, but after a few interactions, I realized that was not the case. On this day, I had a regular pork tempura okonomiyaki and a seafood monjayaki, both of which were delicious. They have a wide variety of over 70 menu items, so you are likely to find something you like. The seafood monjayaki had plenty of ingredients and was tasty.

I went to Asakusa and visited a monjayaki restaurant! Making monjayaki was fun, cheap, and delicious, it was great! We also tried other foods while walking around, so we didn't order too much, but be aware that you need to spend a certain amount to use PayPay, cash only otherwise! The atmosphere and taste were great, so I would like to come back again!

I had some drinks on Hoppy Street and then had monjayaki. I also ordered negiyaki. The monjayaki was quite delicious, especially the special ??? one. The negiyaki was also good, but different from the Kansai style. It was more like okonomiyaki. We were only there for a short time since it was a casual eating and drinking gathering.

I really wanted to eat garlic, but not at a yakiniku restaurant, so I ended up at a monjayaki place. They had garlic oil grilled option, so I went for the non-garlic monjayaki. I ordered plum monja, spicy chili oil monja, bacon and mushrooms (butter sold separately), and garlic oil grilled. The food at the restaurant is delicious and satisfying, especially the generous amount of mushrooms. However, even though the menu photos show butter on top, it is actually sold separately... which doesn't make sense, right? If that's the case, they should just raise the price and include the butter.

The bustling atmosphere and the smell of grilling inside the restaurant are overwhelming. It's great to be able to watch the cooking process and try different seasonings. Not only was the food delicious, but it was also a fun dining experience where you could see the chef's personality. I thoroughly enjoyed the teppanyaki that I occasionally crave.

When you come to Asakusa, you usually stop by this Monja restaurant. It's a bit hard to find, but you can enjoy Monja in a cozy atmosphere. If you go with two people, ordering two types of Monja and some drinks will fill you up quite nicely. It's a good value for money and a great place to drink and have a good time with friends.

This is a Monja-yaki restaurant in Asakusa. There are several branches in Asakusa. Although there were no customers inside the restaurant, when we entered, they started cleaning up the untidy seats, and they didn't bring us wet towels or take our order until we called them. The food is a bit expensive, so I probably won't come back.

I was planning to go to a famous okonomiyaki restaurant in Asakusa, but it was unexpectedly closed... I really wanted to try various restaurants in Asakusa... I was in the mood for okonomiyaki already... Walking was getting tiring, so I just headed towards a place with an okonomiyaki sign, and ended up here! I later checked on Tabelog and saw that there were many comments about the monjayaki. I entered and ordered some alcohol first. Then I ordered the modern-yaki and also the cucumber with salt dressing, which was supposed to come out quickly. But the modern-yaki never arrived... they said it would take some time. The other customers seemed to be a group of students, very lively. It was a bit noisy, but oh well! Enjoying the meal makes it taste the best. I ordered a second round of alcohol. The cucumber alone wasn't enough... they seemed to be cooking the modern-yaki very thoroughly, like Kansai-style okonomiyaki. After over 30 minutes, it finally arrived. My expectations were quite high by then. I love okonomiyaki, so I tried it. The sauce was fine, and the noodles with it too. However, there was too much dough and not enough cabbage. The floury taste of the dough spread in my mouth as soon as I took a bite... it didn't suit me. It was a finished product like nothing I had seen before. I thought modern-yaki was okonomiyaki with noodles on top, but apparently I was wrong. The noodles are on top of the okonomiyaki. Is this different from Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki? The dough and cabbage are mixed together. It's strange. Maybe I just didn't know about it enough... If you mix such a thin okonomiyaki with dough, it will definitely taste floury... I recommend the monjayaki... definitely. Because it's the local specialty here and there are many comments saying it's delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I grew up in a downtown area with many monjayaki restaurants. I went there the other day. Before going, I read a review that said the ordered items come out slowly, so I ordered a little early, but everything came out at just the right time. I ordered cucumber, edamame with sake, potato butter, mushrooms, carbonara monjayaki, special monjayaki with fragrant home, and tsukune, and while eating them, I ordered sake and okonomiyaki. Just as we finished the monjayaki, the okonomiyaki arrived. And then, chocolate roll. The portion was just right, and the taste was delicious. It was great that the three of us women spent less than 10,000 yen (although the sake bill added up since I drink a lot). The seating was spacious, and I felt it was a cozy place. I couldn't smoke at the table, but there was an ashtray downstairs on the second floor, and it was nice to watch the people passing by Asakusa. I will definitely go back when I visit Asakusa again.

The store was small, so it was a good decision to make a reservation for Sunday night! The surrounding area was full of monjayaki restaurants, but they were all fully booked. The staff were all kind and attentive, constantly adjusting the teppan grill for us as we cooked. The menu was extensive, and you could create your own original monjayaki/okonomiyaki depending on the toppings you chose, which was great.

I suddenly felt like eating something with sauce. The okonomiyaki restaurant I was planning to go to had a long line, so I came here instead. The beef tendon was delicious, and I had both monjayaki and okonomiyaki.
