I visited the must-visit tonkatsu restaurant "Katsukami" in Ginza after a long time. As always, it was bustling with popularity from lunchtime. [Katsukami * Today's B course contents] ◉ Shredded cabbage with dressing. ◉ Daikon pickled in miso with a crunchy texture and ginger. ◉ Pickled Chinese cabbage. ◉ Nameko mushroom miso soup using Edo-style sweet miso. ◉ (B) course featuring Miyazawa pork raised with care. * Tenderloin - loin - shoulder loin - inner thigh - minced cutlet - shaved ice. Starting with the appetizers served first, the expectation and high-quality taste towards the main dish come to mind. The tonkatsu starts with the tenderloin. The high-quality fat that emerges from the cut rosy cross-section is the hallmark of Katsukami. From there, it is best to enjoy it with salt, two types of sauce (spicy soy sauce and sweet vegetable-based sauce), and mustard. In today's course, the strong-flavored shoulder loin left a lasting impression. (※) Rice refill service is also available. The minced cutlet also has a crispy coating and delicious taste. The meal is finished with shaved ice. Although I was tempted by the autumn-limited "chestnut" flavor, I chose the strawberry flavor. This was my second visit, and I made a reservation for the Maeda Pork & Brand Pork course. They provided each dish one by one with explanations. I chose the "Wine Mitsukuroi" for drinks, and enjoyed four different types of wine. Every dish was delicious, and the service was pleasant. I was very satisfied and would like to visit again.

I feel like it's becoming more difficult to make a reservation for the third visit... I made a reservation two months in advance because there were hardly any openings. This time, I asked for my favorite course as usual, and chose the seasonal menu with corn. I had never experienced such a professional taste of Jillett pork before. The thick and tender pork fillet was a new delight for me. It was my first time trying Jillett pork with various sauces. Every time I ate pork, the chef provided fresh ingredients. The pork karaage was not greasy and I could eat as many pieces as I wanted.

Iberico pork and brand pork course. You can choose one fried dish in the middle. There were 10 kinds, although only 4 are listed on the website. I want to come back again to try other dishes. You can choose from 6 types of rice for the closing meal. The tea rice is green with Ise matcha, and has a mini cutlet on top. There are 6 flavors of shaved ice to choose from, with homemade syrup. The seasonal peach flavor comes with popping candy. All the cutlets are delicious. There are options to eat them as they are, with lots of wasabi, or topped with truffle butter. These are things you can't find in other restaurants, which is great. The crab croquette was also interesting. As other reviews have mentioned, it's best to arrive right on time for your reservation. Being the first to arrive doesn't mean you'll be served first. You may receive explanations along with the guests sitting next to you at the counter. English is provided for foreign guests. It operates on a rotation system, so even if you arrive early, you may have to wait outside on the stairs with the next group for the 8 pm seating.

Managed by the crab cuisine restaurant "Kitafuku," which has branches in Akasaka and Ginza, this restaurant offers a tonkatsu course. This time, I visited for lunch with a reservation for the "Iberico Pork & Brand Pork Course + Kitafuku's Taraba Crab Croquette Course." The course includes: - 2 types of brand pork tonkatsu - 2 types of Iberico pork tonkatsu - 1 menchi katsu - 1 taraba crab croquette - Rice, miso soup, pickles, cabbage - Shaved ice or spicy pork with mountain pepper. It's great to have tonkatsu fried right in front of you! There are 2 types of sauce and salt, and they kindly explain how to enjoy each cut of tonkatsu. Ginza Katsukami is known for offering various cuts of tonkatsu in a course style, with each piece served individually. Reservations are mainly made through TableCheck, with availability typically around 1.5 to 2 months in advance. Today's reservation was for June 21st. The restaurant has a counter with 9 seats and 4 tables with a total of 13 seats. Today, there were 11 guests, including 3 Japanese people and 8 international visitors in their 20s and 30s, with a high ratio of female guests. The meal included Hokkaido-grown Yumepirika rice, Edo sweet miso soup with enoki mushrooms, cabbage, and pickles, served in a set meal style before the katsu was served. I planned to visit this restaurant and when I called, I was told that all reservations are done online. So, I made a reservation online. Looking at the lunch menu, there seems to be a course for 3800 yen, but I could only choose between the 5000 yen and 7900 yen courses. I selected the 5000 yen Iberico Pork & Brand Pork course and made a reservation for Saturday at 11:30 am. The course includes fillet, loin, shoulder loin, thigh, and minced cutlet, with shaved ice for dessert. I chose "peach" flavor for the shaved ice, which seemed to be the most popular choice. The restaurant serves each part of the tonkatsu separately, frying two pieces at a time and cutting them for you. You can eat them plain at first and then add salt or sauce according to your preference, but I mostly ate them with salt. The meat included domestic brand pork and Iberico pork, with the Iberico pork being a bit tough and hard to chew, while the domestic brand pork was tender, with a good amount of fat and a delicious sweetness when paired with salt.

I had been curious for a long time and finally got to go. I made a reservation online. Lunch starts from ¥5,000. As mentioned in the reviews, you must arrive on time for your reservation, otherwise you cannot enter. When I arrived about 5 minutes early, there were a lot of foreign tourists in front of the elevator... The entrance to the restaurant is narrow. Before the course started, they served a set of rice, cabbage, pickles, etc. The ginger pickles were quite strong in flavor but perfect for a chopstick rest and delicious. Half of the customers that day were foreign tourists. I admire how well they research wherever they go. The owner was the only one frying the tonkatsu. I was impressed by how efficiently he managed it, but it made sense since the tonkatsu is allowed to rest after frying. When we entered, there were already fried tonkatsu on the grill. The first dish was the fillet, I think? The fat was sweet, the meat was tender, and the cooking was perfect, very delicious. For the second and third dishes, we compared Japanese and Spanish pork. I felt that the fat of the Spanish pork was sweeter. At this point, I was already full. The fourth dish was a rare cut, but I was too full to remember it. The fifth dish was a small round minced cutlet. Since it was minced meat, I managed to eat it somehow. Finally, there was a choice between shaved ice or another dish (chosen at the beginning). Since my favorite tonkatsu restaurant in Ginza closed down, I hadn't been to a tonkatsu restaurant in a while, but if I were to visit one in the future, I think it would be this one. However, since it's a course menu, the dishes are served at a good pace, but it's hard to keep up with the portions! I think men would be fine, but that's something to be cautious about. Katsukami-san has become extremely popular in Ginza. It can be quite difficult to make a reservation, but it is definitely worth a visit. The restaurant has counter and table seating, and the live kitchen atmosphere is great. The tonkatsu is served in a course style. I chose the B course for 3800 yen, which includes four types of tonkatsu, menchi katsu, rice, miso soup, cabbage, pickles, and either spicy pork with Japanese pepper or shaved ice. Each tonkatsu is fried differently based on the cut, and they are served one by one at your pace. The meat is so tender and flavorful, and the sauces offered complement it perfectly. The rice is also exceptional, and you can have unlimited refills. The dressing for the cabbage is delicious too. This restaurant is a must-visit for anyone who wants to enjoy top-notch tonkatsu.

This was my 4th visit. I visited with a friend for a birthday dinner. The beef course was 16,000 yen. It included rare cuts, and I chose corn as one of the dishes, which was topped with Échiré butter, giving it a sophisticated corn butter flavor that was really delicious! The crab cream croquette from Kitafuku is always rich and tasty no matter how many times I have it. I always leave full and satisfied after eating. I would like to visit again.

The restaurant is located in a narrow space with no air conditioning, so it is better to arrive slightly later than the reservation time. The A course includes four cuts of Yonezawa pork, cabbage, rice (Yumepirika, with one refill allowed), Edo-style sweet miso soup with nameko mushrooms, and pickles. Each cut of meat includes fillet, loin, shoulder loin, and a fatty and lean cut. Each has a different flavor profile, making the meal enjoyable. Personally, I found the fat in the loin and the fillet meat to be the most delicious. The portions are small, but with intervals between servings, I ended up feeling full.

The course at the sister restaurant Kitafuku was enjoyable because you could savor various parts of tonkatsu in a meticulous way. I chose the corn as an option and it was undeniably delicious. The crab croquette was very tasty. For the final dish, I couldn't eat any more tonkatsu, so I opted for a simple curry. I went for the recommended strawberry milk kakigori, while my friend chose the milk tea which was rich and had popping candy, both were delicious.

I made a reservation for Sunday lunch. Before going, I was wondering if it was a tonkatsu course meal, but it was really good! Sitting at the counter, they explained each dish and recommended ways to eat them while serving them, which was very enjoyable. There were 4 types of meat, menchi katsu, rice, cabbage, 3 types of pickles, and dessert, and I was full! They served barley tea with rice and warm hojicha with dessert. The staff were very nice, and all the customers seemed to be having a good time, creating a friendly atmosphere in the restaurant. I want to go again! Thank you for the meal.

The first visit was really delicious! It was a special experience to receive explanations directly at the counter while being served. I forgot the specific cuts, but I have included a brief description with each photo for reference. It was delicious! However, the reason for the 3-star rating is as follows: The prices listed on Tabelog or the official website start at 2,800 yen, but the actual reservation options start from 7,900 yen for lunch! Even though the official menu page only shows options up to 6,000 yen for lunch, when you proceed to make a reservation, you can only choose from 7,900 yen onwards. When inquiring, they mentioned that the lower-priced options are likely sold out. With only 13 seats available, it was a bit surprising to hear that they were sold out. I understand the costs of the location and limited seating, but I believe they should at least update their website accordingly. This time it was a celebration, so I splurged, but finding out it would cost over 5,000 yen more per person after making a reservation was disappointing. I felt that the cost performance was poor. I had the 7,900 yen course (the cheapest option available), and while I was really full, it felt like too much? It was like a course where they packed in all the good things they had that day, and I have had courses before where they carefully selected and calculated each dish, so this felt a bit overwhelming. The curry as the finale made me wonder if I could eat it!? I was expecting something really special, but it ended up being like a basic curry. The last cutlet, which was described as the last dish, was a heavy, very flavorful meat cutlet with truffle butter on top. Even though they said that was the last cutlet, they served a cutlet curry afterwards. It felt too heavy. I'm in my 30s, maybe it's because of my age, but I thought it would have been better if they offered a slightly cheaper course with carefully selected cutlets to enjoy. That's why I felt the cost performance was poor, sorry. However, maybe the person who came for the 2,800 yen course and left early had a better experience. They didn't have the minced cutlet burger, and if they saw someone next to them eating it, they might have been envious and cried! It's a complex feeling. I prefer something in between (selfish). Another point to note is that you cannot wait inside the restaurant until the exact time of your reservation. During the summer daytime, you have to wait outside in the narrow space in front of the entrance due to the warm air in the building. It's so crowded that everyone has to wait together, so I recommend arriving just in time (no latecomers allowed!). You can't enter until everyone in front of you has gone inside, so please be careful if you visit in the summer! I know I said a lot, but there were many delicious dishes, so overall it was good. This is just my personal experience, so sorry about that.

One month ago, I made a reservation online through Table Check and visited the restaurant with a friend on Monday at 11:30 am. We had to wait outside in a crowded elevator hall under the scorching sun until exactly 11:30, which was a bit tough. The set course we chose was priced at 3,400 yen per person and included two types of tonkatsu, one choice of katsu (Tokyo X pork loin, Tokyo X pork shoulder loin, Tokyo X pork menchi katsu, Tokyo X pork lamp, or Kitafuku taraba crab croquette), rice, miso soup, pickles, cabbage, and a spicy pork dish or shaved ice. We started with the hire katsu, which was incredibly juicy and delicious even without sauce. The comparison of different cuts of pork was not greasy at all and truly impressed us. The crab croquette was made with plenty of taraba crab and was a luxurious delight. The rice was also delicious, and we gladly had seconds. The spicy pork dish we chose was great, but the variety of homemade sauces for the shaved ice was tempting. The cabbage dressing and pickles were also excellent. The atmosphere with the wordplay "tonsetsu" and the friendly staff at the counter made the experience even better. The restaurant was fully booked with reservations, and walk-in customers, especially foreigners, were being turned away. It seems to be popular among Taiwanese customers. Overall, it was a truly blissful dining experience, and I can't wait to visit again. I would definitely recommend this beloved restaurant to others. The restaurant has a rating of 3.77 on Tabelog and has been selected as one of the top tonkatsu restaurants in 2022, 2021, and 2019.
