Ponchi-ken in Kanda Ogawamachi is a well-known tonkatsu restaurant that I love. I often visit for lunch, but it's always crowded, a popular spot! You can make a reservation for dinner, which is nice. Sometimes I take overseas business travelers there for a "tonkatsu izakaya" experience, which they seem to enjoy. The menu mainly focuses on tonkatsu, but there are also side dishes like potato salad and onion slices, perfect for enjoying with a highball. The tonkatsu, including the low-temperature, long-time fried rosukatsu with a hint of pink color, has a great texture and crunchiness, and the crispy and fluffy fried aji is irresistible. Every dish is delicious! Especially the "Special Pork Fillet Whole Fried" weighing about 500g is visually stunning. I didn't get to try the curry as a finale, but I left feeling satisfied and full after enjoying dishes like potato salad, onion slices, tomato salad, Special Pork Fillet Whole Fried, aji fry, ham katsu, and thick-cut fried pork loin.

The pork cutlet set meal was priced at 1,500 yen. The rumors were true, it was delicious. The pork cutlet was fried perfectly, bringing out the deliciousness of the pork. The miso soup was elegant, and the rice was delicious. The cabbage was thinly sliced, very fresh and tender, truly impressive. The free kimchi service was also nice! The single serving of green tea provided after the meal made me feel the depth of the long-established restaurant. I want to come back at night... For your information, I was able to smoothly enter the restaurant around 13:45 on a weekday.

Special pork fillet cutlet set meal for 2,500 yen. It seems the Western chef has taken a liking to pork cutlets. I think Bamboo in Honjo was the same. The fillet was fantastic. Juicy with a direct meaty flavor. I still love fillet the best. But the special loin also looks incredibly delicious, so I'll try that next time. Rice refills with two types of sauce, salt, and lemon for the finish. The cabbage and dressing were also delicious. I've stumbled upon another great restaurant. A happy scream. Kanda's "Yoshihira" pork fillet on a stick is still the best, but a new addition to my pork cutlet all-stars (White Crown, Okappiki, Bamboo, Chawanbu, Narikura). By the way, the hospitality was the best. Jazz music was stylish.

I had been curious about Ponchiken for a while! I arrived at 11:10 on a holiday and there was already one group waiting, but I lined up as the second group. I waited until the opening at 11:15 and was able to enter on the first round. I ordered the special loin pork cutlet set meal for ¥2,400. The meat was tender and delicious, with flavorful pork fat. There were various condiments on the table, including tonkatsu sauce, Worcestershire sauce, salt, shichimi (seven spice), yuzu pepper, and cabbage dressing (French). They also had kimchi available for unlimited servings. It was all very delicious!

On Saturday afternoon, my wife requested to eat delicious tonkatsu, so we decided to visit Ponchi-ken, which was on our list of places to try. We arrived around 12:30 and surprisingly there was no line, so we were seated right away. I ordered the top sirloin set and an aji (horse mackerel), while my wife ordered the top fillet set. While waiting, we enjoyed some kimchi as an appetizer. The dishes arrived in about 10 minutes and they looked amazing! In terms of taste, the fillet was the best, followed by the sirloin. The aji was a bit underwhelming, maybe because we had high expectations. Next time, I will definitely order the top fillet. We will be back soon.

Today, I felt like eating tonkatsu, so I visited Ponchiken. I arrived around 13:35 on a Thursday, and although there was no wait, the restaurant was almost full. I ordered the Special Loin Cutlet Set (2400 yen) and it was served in about 10 minutes. They have regular Worcestershire sauce, "Taiyo" sauce, and salt for seasoning, which is nice for variety. I tried the "Taiyo" sauce first, it's like soy sauce but different. It goes well with the tonkatsu. The tonkatsu was sweet in the fatty parts and refreshing in the lean parts, very tasty. Next, I'll try the fillet. Thank you for the meal.

I visited a highly rated restaurant on Tabelog to see if it was really delicious. [Before entering] I arrived around 11:00 am before the opening on a holiday, and was able to enter right after they opened. [Inside the restaurant] There are about 20 seats at the counter and tables. The interior has a traditional feel, and the jazz background music creates an interesting contrast. I was surprised to see mostly elderly customers on this day, with no young people in sight. [Order] Hire Tonkatsu Set Meal: 1,600 yen [Appearance and taste] It arrived in about 15 minutes. The set meal comes with rice and miso soup, keeping it simple. The hire tonkatsu had a juicy texture with a good chew, allowing the flavor of the meat to shine through. The breading was slightly soft and crispy. It clung tightly to the meat without falling off. The miso soup was surprisingly flavorful and delicious, making the rice go down smoothly. [Overall impression] There was nothing outstanding, but it felt like a classic hire tonkatsu. The owner and staff worked together seamlessly, and I was impressed by their coordination. When I left the restaurant, there were about 15 people waiting in line, so I consider myself lucky to have gotten in. Thank you for the meal.

Formerly a charismatic idol group that gathered immense popularity and almost changed society, Higisaka46. Invited by a man named Kakeru (21), who returned from France with revolutionary intentions, they now set out to change the country once again. *This work is a complete fiction and has no relation to the author's beliefs. If such a thing were to be done, the country would collapse. Chapter 1: Let's Create True Justice 1: la Brianza 2: Yoshizawa 3. Curry up 4. La Plesure Kioicho 5. Hashimoto ["At the time when they were thinking of the lyrics for a new song Winter was proposing, the news continued. At a music event in Odaiba, Tokyo, a female singer was touched inappropriately by a male audience member and then subjected to violence such as hitting and kicking. The police are currently searching for the fleeing man. "The victim has been left with a lifelong emotional scar. If that scumbag is caught on camera, we'll catch him before the police do and make him taste hell," Kakeru said as he worked to identify the man's face from the video. "It's a pain to search for him. Why do the media hide the face of both the person who took the video and the criminal? Is it harassment?" Kakeru created flyers with the man's face clearly visible from the video and added strong words like "Do not forgive sexual offenders" and "Letting them loose will disrupt the country." He sent his followers, called Synergy (those who sympathized with Kakeru's ideals), to distribute them in front of Ochanomizu Station, a sanctuary for activists. "Boss, there's a police box right across the street. Are you okay with this?" "The police have no authority to restrict our activities. If they try to interfere, we'll fight back, so don't worry," Kakeru assured his followers. Some people passing by had a feeling that things wouldn't end well if they got involved with these guys. However, since it was an incident that attracted some public attention, many people took the flyers. "Does anyone recognize this face?" "Hey, you, this is an ongoing investigation. Don't get involved," the police intervened. "We are doing this for justice. Can you please not interfere?" "There is a thing called order. The criminal will be apprehended by the police through proper procedures and receive a fair trial. This is how a rule of law country works," the police explained. "This is not the time for you to talk about that!" "What if this person is cornered and commits suicide? What will you do then? You'll be responsible for it!" "Let them die for all I care," Kakeru intervened. "You are despicable. Are you a devil?" "I am not a devil, I am a hero of justice. It's because of your leniency that sexual violence continues unabated. You are the devil," Kakeru replied. "This is disgusting. Where is the honor in calling someone a criminal?" "In the first place, it's wrong to label someone as a criminal!" "This kind of attitude is what's ruining this country!" "I don't want to talk to someone who trivializes human rights." "Oh, who is trampling on human rights here?" The argument continued for about 10 minutes, and in the end, Kakeru's group was asked to leave. "Kakeru, it's really reckless. You can still turn back now," "Don't say stupid things. Today is still a rehearsal," "Rehearsal?" "We will eventually have to take more aggressive measures. But thanks to you guys, it was a good simulation. As a reward, dinner will be a high-quality tonkatsu."] Kakeru's group arrived at "Ponchi-ken," a famous tonkatsu restaurant in a small alley in Ogawamachi. It is said that there is a long line during the day on holidays, but it is relatively empty at night and reservations are available.

I arrived a little before 7 pm on Sunday and had to wait for about 20-30 minutes. There was a huge line! This place is very popular. Many customers come alone, and there are counter seats, so it's easy to get in. The atmosphere of the restaurant is calm, and the service is very polite, making it a comfortable place to be in. I ordered the Ponchi Katsu, which is thinly sliced pork cutlet wrapped in leeks with a black pepper flavor! I'm not a fan of greasy food, but the Ponchi Katsu was easy to eat! The more you chew, the more you can enjoy the depth of the flavor. Of course, the cutlet was delicious, but the rice and miso soup were also incredibly tasty, I seriously wanted seconds...! The reason for its popularity is clear. Nothing is skimped on, and everything is top-notch. The appetizer menu is also extensive, so you can enjoy it even if you don't want a hearty meal! The couple next to me were happily sharing appetizers and drinking beer, and it made me want to go back again, thinking, "There's a way to enjoy like that too...!"笑

I ordered the pork cutlet set meal and the special pork loin. It was really delicious. The moment I took the first bite, I could savor the thick meat. The meat wasn't too fatty and was easy to eat. Personally, I recommend eating it with salt and lemon. I once had to give up because it was too crowded when I visited on a weekday afternoon, but surprisingly there were fewer people on a weekend night, so I was glad I could get in.

I finally had the chance to visit a popular tonkatsu restaurant in Shin-Ochanomizu where I had been turned away twice before. I had been wanting to try their thick-cut loin for a while, and I was not disappointed by the impressive thickness of the pork cutlet. My first attempt to visit was on a Wednesday, which had recently become one of their two regular days off (previously only Sundays), and the operating hours on the review site had not been updated. Unfortunately, I was told they were already closed even though it was before their stated last order time. On my second attempt, I arrived on a weekday just after 8 pm, only to be informed that they were no longer accepting customers for the day, even though the last order was at 8:30 pm. It seemed like maybe I was not meant to visit this restaurant after all. However, I decided to give it another try on a weekday, this time leaving work early and arriving at 6:30 pm. Luckily, it was not crowded due to a typhoon approaching, but it quickly filled up around 7:15 pm. The thick-cut special loin set meal was priced at 3,240 yen and the pork was from Okinawa, while the regular pork was from Mexico. The pork was fried for about 15 minutes due to its thickness. When it arrived, I was delighted by the thickness of the pork cutlet. The Okinawa pork reminded me of a similar dish at a restaurant in Iidabashi, but it had a slightly different flavor. The portion was huge, with each slice being enough for three bites. The pork was well-fried, with a nice white color and a hint of spicy coarse salt on the fatty parts, which paired perfectly. The center was cooked through, but some parts were slightly dry, which is understandable given the thickness. Overall, I was very satisfied and full after the meal!

I used it for lunch on Saturday. I arrived at 11:20 and lined up alone. I waited 35 minutes because it became the end of the first round. I had the Special Pork Cutlet Set for ¥2600. It was thick and voluminous, yet soft and full of meaty flavor, and delicious. The sauce also seemed to be homemade and tasty. Although I praised the sauce, it was even more delicious to eat it with rock salt. Next time, I want to try the Special Sirloin.

I took a morning off on a weekday to finish some errands! I have to go back to work in the afternoon, but I want to have a delicious lunch at a place I don't usually go to. It needs to be a place where I can finish eating in time for my afternoon shift. So, I decided to head to Ponchi-ken in Ogawamachi on the Toei Shinjuku Line. I arrived a little before 11 am, and there was no one in line yet. Since it was too hot to wait outside, I went to cool off somewhere else until just before the opening time. When I returned, there were about 5 people in line. The curtain was put up a minute before opening time. I sat at the counter and ordered the Upper Loin Pork Cutlet Set for ¥1,500 and a side of Fried Horse Mackerel for ¥580. I wanted to have a beer in this heat, but I had to work later. The Fried Horse Mackerel came with tartar sauce and grated ponzu. Soon, the Upper Loin Pork Cutlet Set and Fried Horse Mackerel arrived. I took a bite of the pork cutlet first. It was tender and delicious. Considering the taste and price, I can understand why people line up to eat here. The Fried Horse Mackerel was also tender and tasty. After finishing my meal, they served me tea. It's common for old-school tonkatsu restaurants to do this, but it still feels special. It was worth coming here for a delicious lunch!

This day is a holiday Saturday. Let's go have lunch while going to the barber shop. I decided to try Tsuchizakura, which was newly selected as one of the top 100 Western restaurants in 2023, in Kanda Surugadai. On the way, I passed by Curry Rice Dilan and realized that it was closed... then I arrived at Tsuchizakura after 1:00 pm. They refused entry because it was past 1:00 pm... even though it said last order was at 1:30 pm. It's frustrating to miss it by just a few minutes... But around here, there are plenty of other options for recovery. So, I decided to try Pontei-ken nearby. Even though it was past 1:00 pm, there were about 7 people waiting outside. Under the scorching sun... alright, let's line up! After about 40 minutes of waiting, we finally entered the restaurant. Since it was hot, I asked for a draft beer! Ah, beer tastes so good, it's the best part of this heat, haha. This time, I ordered the special loin pork cutlet set meal! After a 15-minute wait, the dish arrived. Since the meat wasn't heavily seasoned, I started by trying it with salt. The thick pork had a hint of sweetness. However, the meat felt slightly watery, perhaps because the pig drank a lot of water in the heat? I enjoyed it with salt, mustard, lemon, and sauce! The satisfaction of eating the pork cutlet at the right moment... just perfect. It was delicious, thank you for the meal!

It has been a while since my last visit. I arrived on a weekday around 1:30 pm and was able to get a seat at the counter without waiting. This time, I ordered the special pork cutlet set meal. It was served in about 15 minutes. The portion of the cutlet itself was modest, but there was a generous serving of cabbage by default. The first piece of cutlet was very juicy and warm, but the following pieces quickly became dry and tough as they lost their warmth. The flavor also changed in a similar way. I'm not sure if this is a characteristic of this brand of pork or if it has to do with how it was cooked, but I was personally disappointed by the texture when it lost its warmth. I would personally recommend the special loin cutlet instead.

When you open the sliding door, you will see an L-shaped counter surrounding the kitchen. There are also four table seats. The background music in the restaurant is jazz piano. The potato salad I ordered as a side dish with my draft beer was delicious with boiled eggs in it. The finely shredded cabbage, which had been soaked in water well, was offered for free refills.

We arrived at 12:17pm and had to wait for about 40 minutes before getting a seat because there were already people lining up at the entrance. The 2,400 yen set menu was fantastic! The meat was warm, delicate, and juicy! It was so tender and juicy, with plenty of meat juice! You can't find this quality of pork cutlet rice in China, so it's worth waiting in line for! It definitely lived up to our expectations!

I entered the restaurant at 2:00 PM on Saturday. There were only 2 other customers, so there was no waiting time. I ordered the top sirloin set meal (1500 yen) and shrimp fry (520 yen). The top sirloin was cooked perfectly, bringing out the delicious flavor of the meat. The shrimp fry was decent, nothing particularly outstanding. Overall, the work was done meticulously, and I really liked this place. However, the top sirloin had too much fat for my liking, so next time I want to try the fillet.

Ponchiken, a popular tonkatsu restaurant quietly nestled in the back alleys of Kanda Surugadai. I have visited this place around three times now. About 10 years ago, I read an article about their "katsu-ni" dish and decided to try it. It was incredibly delicious, so I ordered it again on my second visit, and once again on my latest visit. I still haven't tried their regular pork cutlet set because I keep ordering the katsu-ni. But I will most likely order it again next time because it is just that good. The slightly sweet sauce, perfectly cooked onions, and non-dry cutlet make it outstanding. I don't have much experience with tonkatsu from other places to compare, but I highly recommend it. The shrimp fry we ordered together was also delicious. Thank you for the meal! ■Ordered: Katsu-ni set, shrimp fry

We arrived before noon. There were about 4 groups waiting outside, and we waited for 30 minutes. Once inside, we sat at a table and ordered the "Top Sirloin Cutlet". Since there were 4 of us, we exchanged a piece with someone who ordered the "Special Sirloin Cutlet". First, the Top Sirloin Cutlet. It's not heavy at all. It has a delicious flavor and a nice crispy texture! The salt provided in the restaurant is big and rich, which enhances the flavor. Then, we tried the Special Sirloin Cutlet... Wow, it's so delicious!! The difference in flavor is amazing. It turns out, the Top Sirloin is from Mexico, while the Special Sirloin uses Okinawa pork, which results in such a distinct flavor... Truly, the Special Sirloin is outstanding!! The Top Sirloin is still tasty, and I personally prefer it over other places. But the Special Sirloin surpasses it by far! It will be difficult to find another tonkatsu restaurant that is as delicious as this one! Plus, the cabbage is finely shredded and light. Another great point to note.
