I came to Tokyo and wanted to have delicious soba for lunch, so I visited "Teuchi Soba Kikutani Sugamo Honten" restaurant. It's located about a 5-minute walk from Koshinzuka Station on the Toden Arakawa Line, along the old Nakasendo road towards Sugamo. It's a charming restaurant that I found! Although it's a popular spot, I was able to be seated immediately as I shared a table with someone. I wanted to try the three types of soba, but unfortunately, they only had two available that day. I ordered: - Two types of soba: 1,400 yen - Tempura assortment (small): 850 yen - Half portion of grilled conger eel: 600 yen First, the tempura assortment was served. It included shrimp, shiitake mushrooms, taro, lotus root, carrot, pumpkin, eggplant, and shishito pepper, along with a dipping sauce. Most of the tempura was delicious when eaten with salt. The tempura was crispy and superb, made with high-quality oil. It was a real treat! Next, the first soba was made with "new soba from Narita, Chiba prefecture." It had a lovely aroma and a light, delicious taste. Then, the grilled conger eel was served. It was tender and crispy, and I think it was from Tsushima, not Chiba as I mentioned earlier. I enjoyed it with salt, and it was also delicious! Lastly, the second soba was made with "autumn soba from Hitachi, Ibaraki prefecture." It had a deep, rich flavor due to being aged for three years. Each soba had its own unique taste and aroma, and I really wanted to try the third one too! Finally, I finished with soba broth. Personally, I prefer a stronger broth, but the soba dipping sauce was so tasty that it wasn't an issue. The two female staff members were very polite and attentive, and the owner also greeted customers from the kitchen. This restaurant is not only known for its delicious food but also for its excellent service. It was a delightful dining experience! Thank you for the meal!
