At the end of the year, our family's traditional final meal is sukiyaki. This is our third year going to Ishibashi in Suehirocho. The atmosphere of the restaurant feels like going back to my grandparents' house, with a slightly spicy touch. My daughter, who is getting older, has come to appreciate quietly spending time here rather than making a ruckus. We always order two servings of Lager beer, and two servings each of marbled and loin meat. We also always order ochazuke and fruits, and the prices have not increased even in these times. The meal starts with a whitefish and duck meat appetizer, which is pretty standard. We can't wait to dig into the meat. The full-service style sukiyaki starts with the marbled meat, followed by the loin and then the mixed meat, totaling three servings, which leaves us quite full. But there's still ochazuke waiting for us. I really wanted to eat all of this. Today's meat was quite thick, and the texture was a bit tough, not as melt-in-your-mouth as I expected. Maybe the demand for prime cuts is high and they didn't get the best quality meat. But it's still delicious. It seems that they have been mainly serving meat from Kyushu for the past 10 years. Overall, the atmosphere and experience at the restaurant make up for any shortcomings in the food. Just as we finished paying, we were quickly ushered out, as if they were trying to get us to leave. I realized that we were the last customers on the final day of the year, so that explained it. It was a familiar and peaceful time, as always. Will we be able to come back next year? Wishing for a peaceful year ahead. Thank you for the meal.

I went to a sukiyaki restaurant that my colleagues had been talking about for a while. The place was spacious with a nice atmosphere, and they cooked the food for us in a private room. The amount of meat seemed a bit small at first, but it turned out to be just right as we enjoyed eating slowly. The meat was absolutely delicious, as well as the initial eggplant and chicken dishes. We also ordered extra ochazuke, pickles, and fruit for dessert. The sukiyaki ochazuke was a rare treat and tasted great. My colleagues and I agreed that it was a luxurious experience at a reasonable price. It may be hard to come back often, but it was a fun time.

A long-established sukiyaki restaurant in Suehirocho. The seating is in spacious private tatami rooms. We ordered the sukiyaki (marbled beef) course for 11,000 yen, which included appetizers (mozuku vinegar, simmered eggplant and chicken), meat, and a variety of vegetables. Everything was cooked and served by the staff. The meat was tender and the vegetables were cooked perfectly, it was a truly blissful experience. We tried the optional ochazuke for dessert, even though we were already full, and it was sweet with a crispy texture, making it worth coming back just for that. Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I made a reservation at "Ishibashi" months ago, and the restaurant is like an old Japanese house with a lot of charm. The staff cooked the meat for us, providing great service. We also bought some meat to take home, including Chateaubriand and sukiyaki meat, at wholesale prices. The restroom is traditional and clean, but a bit old-fashioned. Overall, a wonderful dining experience.

I come here with friends about once a year. We enjoy delicious meat while chatting about recent work and hobbies. The meat and vegetables are both delicious, and the service is impeccable from cooking the sukiyaki to serving it. The seating is tatami style, so people with back problems should be cautious.

I visited Ishibashi, which has a rating of 3.72 on Tabelog's Top 5000 in 2022. The location is in Suehirocho. The exterior is a combination of a butcher shop and a traditional Japanese house, giving it a charming atmosphere. The interior is beautifully designed with private rooms in the style of an old Japanese house. This restaurant, established in 12th year of the Meiji era, is a longstanding sukiyaki restaurant where you can truly feel the expertise and history of a traditional establishment. I love this place, and it has become a regular annual visit for me. They offer two types of sukiyaki, and I chose the marbled beef course. The meal includes appetizers, sashimi salad, soba noodles, marbled beef with green onions, white konjac, grilled tofu, chrysanthemum greens, onions, and enoki mushrooms, special rice porridge, pickles, and fruits. The atmosphere in the traditional Japanese house is perfect for enjoying appetizers, beer, and shochu. The proprietress takes care of everything herself, including the famous marbled beef. The meal ends with their special rice porridge, which has a unique sweetness and charred flavor that you can't find anywhere else. It's truly a wonderful dining experience at a great restaurant, isn't it?

We visited the restaurant with 6 people and enjoyed both the lean and marbled cuts of meat, ordering 3 servings of each. The high-quality meats were cooked by the chef along with tofu, green onions, and chrysanthemum greens. The finishing rice porridge may be a bit different, as it is not stewed but made by adding rice to the leftover sauce, then adding beaten eggs and cooking until the eggs are done. Please refer to the photo for details. Before leaving, we had a fire started for us by the landlady and then headed home. The quality of the ingredients, the food, and the service all showed the stability of a long-established restaurant, and we had a delicious and enjoyable time.

I visited this restaurant as a treat from a customer. The building has a quaint atmosphere. I was led to a second-floor tatami room. The sukiyaki was prepared by the hostess. The high-quality beef had a slight thickness to it. It was served with a sweet and smooth sauce. It was absolutely delicious. I would like to visit again privately next time.

The taste was excellent, and the experience of the charming building's space was also very satisfying. When I visited in the summer, there was a refreshing ice in the room, which was lovely! The crunchy melon and cool jelly were delicious, and the eggplant had a rich flavor. We went as a couple and compared the marbled and lean cuts of meat. The waitress carefully prepared the sukiyaki for us, with the marbled meat melting in our mouths and the juicy lean meat being very tasty. We enjoyed the delicious dipping sauce turned into porridge. On our way out, the hostess lit a fire at the entrance. It was a very fulfilling experience.

A long-established restaurant founded in the early Meiji period. When you enter, you can feel a Showa or Meiji era atmosphere. You can sense the history. Inside, the landlady guided us to a private room. We had reserved the marbled beef course. We enjoyed two appetizers, followed by the main dish of sukiyaki, and finished with rice porridge and dessert. The two appetizers were surprisingly delicious. The fried dish with broth poured over it was especially tasty (I'm sorry, I don't know the name). It was really delicious. Then, the landlady cooked the sukiyaki for us. The vegetables were as delicious as the meat. The marbled beef was not as fatty as expected and was surprisingly light. It was not too heavy, so even someone like me, an older gentleman, could enjoy it without feeling overwhelmed. We finished with rice porridge. From start to finish, it was truly delicious. The atmosphere was also great, and the taste was excellent. It really felt like a long-established restaurant. I would love to go back again. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Celebrated my birthday at the famous sukiyaki restaurant, Ishibashi. It is often used for entertaining guests, and the hostess and waitresses' hospitality is exceptional. The sukiyaki is left to the chef's choice, so no need to worry about ordering. You can simply focus on enjoying the meal. The elegant atmosphere of the long-established restaurant, along with the superbly marbled wagyu beef that melts in your mouth, is outstanding. Although I usually prefer shabu-shabu over sukiyaki, the sukiyaki here is exceptional. Even the sukiyaki-flavored porridge at the end was a delight. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Located in Suehirocho, Ishibashi is a delicious longstanding sukiyaki restaurant with a rating of 3.75 and prices ranging from 15,000 to 20,000 yen. It is a short 2.3-minute walk from Suehirocho, situated along the Shinzuma Koisaka street where many dining options are available. Established in 1879, this sukiyaki shop has been continuously recognized by Michelin. The current owner, Shunsuke Ishibashi, is the 5th generation and has been running the family business since the age of 25. The atmosphere is nostalgic and traditional, with the female owner personally attending to the sukiyaki. The menu includes a choice between marbled beef and loin courses, with a delightful finish of porridge. The total cost per person, including two bottles of beer, was around 15,000 yen. Reservations can be easily made by phone. Overall, the experience of enjoying delicious sukiyaki in a traditional setting was very satisfying. The meal concludes with a ceremonial fire cutting, adding to the pleasant dining experience. Highly recommended for those who appreciate gourmet dining and quality meat.

The reservation was hard to get, so I had to book a month in advance. The elegant service and private room made the sukiyaki course even more enjoyable. The beef, sourced from Kagoshima prefecture, was incredibly delicious. It was pricey, but the quality matched the cost.

Established in the 12th year of the Meiji era, this shop exudes a sense of tradition both in its exterior and interior. Upon entering, the proprietress guides you to a private room. The building itself exudes history, with surprising depth inside. I made a reservation around midnight and was able to reach them easily by phone, so late-night reservations may be preferable. I ordered the marbled beef course, which included two appetizers, sukiyaki as the main dish, and finally ochazuke and dessert. The two appetizers were so delicious that I was already impressed. The tempura and fried white fish topped with dashi had the perfect balance of broth and saltiness, which I love. Once I finished the appetizers, the proprietress handled everything for the sukiyaki. She prepared the vegetables beautifully, and I was glad I chose the marbled beef course. The meat was not too fatty, and I even made it to the ochazuke. You have to order the ochazuke separately, as it won't come unless requested. If you can't finish it, they will pack it in a Tupperware for you to take home. I would love to experience the taste of this traditional establishment again.

I visited Ishibashi in 2021, which has a rating of 3.76 on Tabelog's Top 5000 list. The restaurant is located in Suehirocho. This year, I attended their annual Sukiyaki year-end party at this renowned Sukiyaki restaurant, which is the oldest establishment in the area. It was founded as a butcher shop in the 12th year of the Meiji era. The restaurant is set in a beautiful Japanese garden with a two-story building. The Frost Course included appetizers like red snapper sashimi, simmered daikon, and specially selected marbled beef with various vegetables. The meal was accompanied by a special porridge and pickles. The Sukiyaki was prepared by the hostess, starting with cooking the first piece on the grill. The meat, tofu, vegetables, and other ingredients were served alternately. The rich egg and secret sauce complemented the dish perfectly. The meal ended with grilled beef fat and steamed porridge, which was incredibly delicious. The tradition of the restaurant was also evident in the farewell ritual performed by the head hostess at the entrance. It was truly a delightful dining experience at a wonderful restaurant.

The restaurant, food, and service all made me feel like I was experiencing traditional Japan. The marbled meat was tender and paired well with the subtly sweet sukiyaki sauce! They cook everything for you, so all you have to do is wait with drool in your mouth... haha. The meal ended with a unique steamed zosui that you can only eat here. After grilling the meat and vegetables, you add rice and egg to the leftover sauce, cover it, and wait for it to cook. The finished dish is not a typical zosui, but more like a slightly firm quiche with a bit of a crispy crust. The restaurant's decor also adds to the Japanese ambiance, so I think bringing foreign guests here would make them very happy. Thank you for the delicious meal. I will definitely come back!

A rare visit to a long-established high-end restaurant. Visited for a work gathering. I had never really felt the appeal of sukiyaki before, but this place changed my mind. It's amazing how different the meat is when the quality of the ingredients is so high. Upon arrival, we were led to a completely private room that felt like a traditional inn. Luckily, I don't get flustered easily, so I didn't feel nervous at all, but I did sense that this was a different world. Perhaps due to the pandemic, instead of cooking in a pot, each dish was served one by one to each person. I couldn't tell the difference between each dish - was it the sauce or the meat that was different? About four dishes were served, excluding dessert-like palate cleansers. We had beer and sake for drinks. I actually can't drink sake, but mistakenly ordered "apple sake," which wasn't available, causing a bit of laughter. The staff skillfully lightened the mood. As we were leaving, the staff was tapping something hard against the customers' backs, creating sparks - I wonder what that was about. It was a fun experience in a different, otherworldly space. It made all the hard work over the past year worth it.

The long-established restaurant that has been in business since the 12th year of Meiji era is truly different. In Yokohama, there are three famous sukiyaki restaurants, but the quality of the meat is completely different. It's no wonder, as they are also meat shops, they can offer high-quality meat at a reasonable price. We enjoyed sashimi in a private room on the second floor, which was delicious. Next, the sukiyaki was prepared by the female staff. The smell while they were preparing the first piece was amazing. When I took a bite, I couldn't help but close my eyes. It was the best!! Finally, leaving a little bit of the egg dip, having it with rice and egg, and then pouring more egg on top was outstanding. The taste was truly irresistible.

Ishibashi is the most famous sukiyaki restaurant in Tokyo's Suehirocho, with over 100 years of history. It's unbelievable how they have been able to continue their business for so long. The restaurant offers a course menu including marbled beef, a special porridge for dessert, and everything is cooked by the staff. The marbled sirloin is delicious with the slightly sweet sauce, and the special porridge is fluffy with a perfect balance of sweetness and crispy rice. With all private rooms and being one of the few sukiyaki specialty restaurants in Tokyo, Ishibashi is definitely worth knowing.

I heard that the frosty course gets tough towards the end, so I chose the loin course instead. Even with the loin, there was a lot of fat. It was so soft that it melted in my mouth instantly, and it was very delicious when combined with the green onions and sauce. I took the ojya home.
