I have always wanted to visit this restaurant but never had the chance until now! The restaurant is called "123" and it is often said to be the best eel restaurant in Tokyo in terms of value for money. I don't usually go out to eat eel, but I decided to treat myself and make a reservation to visit this place with a friend. The restaurant only accepts cash and reservations should be made at least a month in advance. The restaurant has a traditional feel to it, with no background music, and a quiet atmosphere. The grilled eel was incredibly tender and flavorful, and the steamed eel was also delicious. The rice in the eel bowl was served in small portions, but the eel itself was generous. Overall, I was impressed by the quality of the food and the value for money at this restaurant. I highly recommend making a reservation before visiting to avoid disappointment.

I had been interested in this restaurant because it was listed as one of the top 100 restaurants on Tabelog. I made a reservation and there was almost no waiting time. I visited for lunch with a reservation on the same day. You need to order in advance when making a phone reservation. I chose the "Matsu" course. The staff recommended trying half of the eel grilled in white sauce, so I followed their suggestion. The grilled eel had a nice fatty texture and the skin was crispy, served with wasabi soy sauce. Then I had the eel rice bowl, which was also delicious with fluffy, fatty eel in a rich sauce. They mentioned that the rice portion is small, so I opted for a large portion for an additional 200 yen, but it was not overwhelming and easy to eat. I would definitely like to visit this restaurant again.

On the day of Ushi no Hi (Ox Day) on Saturday, I visited Ichiniisan near Matsukage Shrine, where I have been a loyal customer for many years. The restaurant was fully booked even today. I enjoyed delicious eel with my parents while cooling off. The friendly wife always provides attentive service, and even though the prices have gone up, only Ichiniisan offers eel that requires such care at this price. Thank you once again for the fluffy and amazing eel.

Thick and large pieces of eel with two bamboo skewers for 2,800 yen. Amazing value for money. The fluffy texture and perfect grilling are outstanding. The slightly sweet sauce also matches well with the eel. By the way, getting extra rice costs an additional 200 yen. The default serving size is quite small, even with the extra rice it feels like a normal portion at other restaurants. The eel liver is a must-order at only 100 yen. I called around 10:00 on the day of my first visit and was told they had availability at 1:00. The price of 3800 yen for grilled eel set meal is amazing. The grilled eel dish was incredibly fluffy. The owner seemed very friendly. They only have bottled beer, so I should have ordered a glass of sweet potato shochu to match the reservation time. It was delicious to enjoy the shochu with the food. I would like to come back again.

The cold days continue, I'm tired of all the commotion with the coronavirus, so I decided to take a walk to enjoy a course meal at a restaurant I haven't been to in a while. Eel is best in season around February and March when it's rich in oils. It's hard to get a reservation, but this is one of the few good places that treats customers with care and attention. They offer unique menu items like half a grilled eel and a course with two eels. The tare sauce for the grilled skewers today was a bit spicy. With two cups of sake (hot sake from Sakaegawa and cold Tosa no Tsuru), the course with two eels can be quite heavy on the stomach. Next time, I'll stick to just eel and sake. Don't forget to make a reservation for your next visit. The hot sake is microwaved.

We made a reservation at Ichiniisan, located about a 3-minute walk from Matsuo Shrine, after the lunch rush was over, thanks to the kind consideration of the proprietress. I mentioned to the proprietress that my mother loves eel, and she suggested that we could have half an eel grilled in white sauce from the Matsuo set.
