Had a hearty lunch at Monster Grill Ueno. After much deliberation from the lunch menu, I decided on the Dice Steak. You can choose from 8 oz, 11 oz, or 16 oz, and since I was quite hungry, I went for the 11 oz option. Just so you know, 11 oz is about 300 grams. I opted for the recommended OZ sauce. While waiting with a ginger ale to quench my thirst, the Dice Steak arrived. It was sizzling hot and covered with paper to prevent splattering, but there was quite a generous portion. I poured plenty of OZ sauce over it and took a bite. The meat juice oozed out, and the flavor of the meat was so delicious. The OZ sauce was soy-based with a garlic flavor that really whet my appetite. The meat was tender and I couldn't stop eating. The rice, corn, string beans, and pasta on the side were also delightful. Lunchtime includes rice, salad, and soup, making it a great deal! Although the 11 oz portion was quite large, it was so tasty that I finished it all in no time. Monster Grill is a paradise for meat lovers. If I ever crave meat in Ueno, I will definitely come back here.

When you want to eat a chunk of red meat, not yakiniku but steak! A hidden gem with no crowds Hello! I'm Tomochin, the solo gourmet! You can get a feel for the atmosphere in a short video! I had some business in Ueno and was planning to have lunch there, but suddenly I had a craving for meat. I didn't want alcohol, not yakiniku, but steak, steak!! I remembered a place in Ueno that I had been curious about for a while, where the backside of a cow is sticking out from the shop, and looked it up on Tabelog. It turned out to be Monster Grill, so I went there. Monster Steak is like a place for the masses to eat meat, with an American atmosphere. It seems like a place where people who can eat around 500 grams of steak gather. So, even though it's that kind of place, I wanted to have rice as well, so I ordered the Monster Steak with rice and salad set. I ordered the steak rare. I also ordered red wine. The meat arrived after a while. As expected, I was thrilled by the American-style steak! I poured the Oz sauce and started eating. The red meat was easy to cut with a knife and fork! And then, the solo gourmet took a bite! The meat was so rich and satisfying! This is what I was looking for!! The 200 grams disappeared in no time. Hmm, maybe next time I'll go for 500 grams without rice and just have it with wine!? I thought that and finished my meal. At the checkout, the staff member was feeding the pigeons outside? It seems like they are concerned about the pigeons. Perhaps they hold them in high regard for religious reasons? After that, they were feeding the pigeons. I was able to experience a multicultural environment and had a delightful steak time. Thank you very much! It was delicious!

I ordered the Monster 225g for lunch with a choice of 5 sauces, and I went with the recommended OZ sauce. I opted for regular rice instead of the free large portion. The meat was thick-cut and cooked medium rare, sizzling on a hot iron plate. I poured the sauce over it and sprinkled some garlic chips on top. The meat had a nice chewy texture and a satisfying meaty flavor. It was so delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Monster Set (300g) 1,958 yen. When I went after a long time, I noticed that the meat was now labeled in grams instead of ounces. This way is easier to understand. Since sirloin and rib roast are expensive, I went with the Monster Set again this time. I hope to try eating 450g of meat like in the sample photo someday.

Today, I came to Ueno to eat yakiniku, but the restaurant I wanted to go to was unexpectedly closed... (´・ω・`) My mouth and stomach were already in meat mode, so I ended up coming here instead. It was around 11:30 am, just before lunchtime, so I was able to sit at a table this time. I started with a beer and the delicious dice steak that I had last time. It's convenient because you don't have to cut it yourself (laughs) (^_^;) This time, I ordered 450g! You can choose two sauces, garlic and Japanese-style. The meat was delicious cooked medium. The 450g portion was satisfying to eat. However, I only took a picture of the first beer and forgot to take more photos... (´・ω・`)

I had the Harami Combo (200g of harami steak and 200g of hamburger) for my meal. I could choose 2 sauces out of 4 options. The rice set (rice, salad, soup) offers free upsizing for the rice, which is a nice service. Also, the soft drinks are only 180 yen (excluding tax), which is a great point. The prices are quite reasonable and easy to afford, making it more accessible compared to the early days of Ikinari Steak. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I used it for lunch on a regular day. [Monster 225g [with soup and rice] [Salad Chibi [70g]] The steak is served hot. I chose it to be cooked medium, but it had little fat and was tender. I chose a garlic sauce made with white wine as the sauce. The mild sauce went well with the steak. I enjoyed it.

This is a restaurant I stumbled upon. The lunch comes with soup. I ordered a salad separately. The hamburger is delicious. The sauce is provided separately and has a strong flavor. You can choose from regular, large, or extra large rice portions. I am full now.

I visited the restaurant on a Thursday during Golden Week around 13:20. There were 3 groups waiting in line, and after about a 15-minute wait, we were seated. We ordered the Monster Steak 300g for ¥1958, Monster Steak 200g for ¥1518, Rice Set for ¥517 x2, Sapporo Black Label Medium Jocke for ¥418 x2, plus tax ¥486, for a total of ¥5346. The Rice Set included rice, salad, and soup, with the option for a free extra large rice portion, which I chose. We both selected the OZ sauce for the steak, which is a soy sauce-based original sauce with a hint of garlic. The salad was generous and tasty, while the soup was lacking in flavor. The Monster Steak, made with lean meat, was tender but had a lot of sinew and was difficult to chew. The staff were all foreigners, with most seeming to be Chinese. Overall, the experience was disappointing and I would not visit again.

I wanted to eat steak so I went to Monster Grill, which is about a 5-minute walk from Ueno Station. The restaurant has an American vibe. Today, I decided to go all out and ordered the 900g rib roast! There were many types of steak sauces to choose from, so I went with the staff's recommendation. For the side menu, I had the half-baked whole broccoli, which was huge but delicious. The beer was nice and cold. Next, the rib roast arrived - it was a huge portion! Truly a 900g BIG steak! It was delicious! The sauce was also tasty. My favorite was the garlic sauce! I highly recommend it. Another satisfying meal today! Thank you for the delicious food. I feel powered up!

I visited a restaurant in Ueno/Okachimachi for lunch today, which I hadn't been to before for some reason. I usually go to a yakiniku restaurant for lunch when I want meat, but today I felt like having a steak with a good chewy texture. I visited around 12 pm on a weekday and was able to sit at the counter. The table seats were half full with solo diners. I ordered the 300g dice steak cooked medium, along with a beer. Since it was lunchtime, the meal came with soup and rice. I chose the dice steak because I didn't want the hassle of cutting meat. After a few minutes, the hot steak arrived. I waited for it to cool down before adding the garlic-based sauce. The meat was delicious, even better than a certain popular restaurant. If I wanted a heartier meal, I could have gone for the 450g option. It was a long time since I had such a meaty meal. I would like to visit this place regularly.

There are times when I suddenly feel like having steak for some reason. I impulsively changed trains from Kanda to Yamanote and ended up in Okachimachi. Unfortunately, lunchtime was already over. I should have made it in time... The default Monster Steak has no fat and is lean, so it's easy to eat. I finished the 300g steak in no time. The beer is good value for money. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Monster Grill with my wife after a long time. We originally wanted to go to another restaurant but it was closed early, so we ended up here. - Rib roast & hamburger, fried egg, rice set - Mini combo set, rice - Regular size asparagus - Draft beer I ordered the rib roast for the first time, and it was tender and delicious! The hamburger paired well with the fried egg! The garlic sauce and demiglace sauce went well together! I ordered asparagus for the first time in a while, and it was still delicious! Being able to add as much garlic chips and salt & pepper as you like was a revolutionary change and delicious! There were two types of sauce mentioned. I will definitely go back to eat again!

[Overall Review] Located about a 5-minute walk from Ueno Station, this chain restaurant specializing in steaks and hamburgers has 9 branches mainly in the Kanto region (as of February 2023). While I usually try to avoid reviewing chain restaurants and support individual establishments, this place was quite good so I couldn't resist sharing my experience. I tried their signature menu item, the Monster Steak in the extra-large size, and I must say the balance between price and quality of the meat was excellent. It may not be ideal for those who prefer fatty cuts, but for those who enjoy chewing on lean meat, it's quite enjoyable. [I visited] I arrived in Ueno, the gateway to Tohoku. I'm heading to Yamagata next, but before that, I decided to have lunch in this area. There were various options for lunch, but I was in the mood for meat. I spotted a chain restaurant that caught my eye, so I headed there. The restaurant is easy to spot with its flashy Hollywood-like neon sign and a cow's rear end sculpture. It has a unique atmosphere. Inside, there are 4 counter seats and 8 tables for 2 people. I didn't check the kitchen, but I think there are about 3 staff members. The menu mainly consists of steaks like Monster Steak, Rib Roast, Sirloin, Cubed Steak, and Skirt Steak. Other options include hamburgers, salads, and toppings like fried eggs and cheese. It's a straightforward meat-focused restaurant. This time, I decided to go for the Monster Steak, which is their namesake, in a 450g size cooked medium-rare. [Monster Steak 450g - ¥2332] I wanted to indulge in a lot of meat, so I opted for the larger portion of meat and less rice. Let's dig into the meat! With 450g, the thickness of the steak is quite impressive. I'm not sure which cut it is, probably rump or sirloin? It's lean with minimal fat content. The meat has a tender texture with a good thickness, making it easy to chew even with its size. It's a true steak with a nice balance of tenderness and lean meat. It has some fibers, but it doesn't bother me. The tenderness and umami of the lean meat shine through. Despite the size, it's surprisingly easy to finish due to its not too heavy flavor. I chose OZ sauce (soy sauce-based) and garlic sauce for dipping, alternating between cuts of meat. The OZ sauce is sweet and savory, complementing the umami of the lean meat very well. The garlic sauce is creamy with a hint of acidity, a straight-up garlic and pepper flavor. I enjoyed it with lots of rice. In between, I refreshed my palate with a soup with bacon and onions. I managed to finish it all, though maybe I should have gone for a regular portion of rice. [Final Thoughts] This chain restaurant is a great option when you want to enjoy a generous amount of meat at a reasonable price. Highly recommended for those who enjoy savoring meat. Today's bill came to ¥2332. Thank you for the meal.

This is a steak restaurant near Ueno Okachimachi Station in Tokyo. If you want to eat steak around here, this is the place to go! I visited on a Saturday night, coming all the way from Osaka, and despite being alone, I had a great time. The Monster Steak is delicious and reasonably priced, but if you come here, the Rib Roast Steak with plenty of marbling is the best! The cute waitress recommended it with a big smile, so I ordered it right away. The waitress, a very young and cute girl, is a great leader for the foreign staff working at this restaurant. First, she served a super cold beer in a frosty mug, which made it so refreshing and tasty. Then came the huge Rib Roast Steak with OZ sauce poured over it, creating a sizzling steam. It was perfectly pink and so tender and delicious. I enjoyed half of it and then ordered a rice set. The rice portion was huge and the salad was too big as well. I was completely satisfied and my stomach was full. Thank you for the delicious meal!

On October 29th, the ribeye steak was half off! The steak was 300 grams and came with 200 grams of rice, costing around 2000 yen. The meat was tender and delicious, and it was nice to have it served on a hot plate so I could eat it quickly. I arrived before 6 pm and had to wait in line until the second round at around 6:20 pm. Even when I left the restaurant, the line was still long.

This restaurant offers half-price steaks on Meat Day every month. I arrived at 6:10 PM and there was already a line, but I didn't have to wait long before being seated. The menu was limited to a set meal with a 450g steak, salad, and soup, with a free drink if you register on their LINE app. I chose the 450g steak with Oz sauce and garlic sauce. The salad, soup, and iced coffee came first, followed by the steak. It took a while for the sauces to arrive, and I had to ask a few times before they were brought to the table. The person next to me seemed like a regular and was enjoying their steak without any extra sauce. The steak itself was delicious, but the sauces were a bit overpowering. Overall, it was a busy and slightly chaotic experience, but I would consider going back, maybe without ordering the sauces next time.
