I have used the Tonkatsu Ginza store of Tonkatsu Wako before, but this was my first time at the Daimon store. I arrived at the restaurant at 11 o'clock. I misunderstood that it opened at 11:30, so I missed the first round but was able to enter at the front of the second round at 11:45. You can place your order while waiting in line. I've been eating less lately so I refrained from ordering the rib loin, but when I was told that the horse mackerel fry was available, I couldn't help but order it. - Special loin cutlet set (300g) @2200 - Natural horse mackerel fry @500 - Stem wasabi @100 After a short wait, the tonkatsu made with Lin SPF was served, with tender meat and sweet fat delivering the expected taste. There are four types of salt available, but I think the Mediterranean salt brings out the sweetness of the meat the best. This time, I ordered stem wasabi for the first time. The tonkatsu with stem wasabi and soy sauce is also light and delicious. And the horse mackerel fry is a decent size. I didn't have the tonkatsu with sauce, but I had it with sauce here. The sweet sauce goes well with it. The rice and miso soup at this restaurant are also delicious. Especially the miso soup with plenty of pork is good. I think it's worth coming just for the miso soup alone. This is a popular restaurant with several stores in Tokyo. It seems to be well-known among foreigners too, as nearly half of the customers were foreigners. It's not just delicious, but the tonkatsu made with Lin SPF is worth the price, making the long lines at this restaurant understandable.

Tonkatsu Yabu is a tonkatsu chain restaurant, but 6 of their stores have been selected as top 100 restaurants on Tabelog. I've been wanting to try it for a while, but always gave up due to the long queues. Today, I went a bit early for lunch. At 11:45 on a Saturday, there were 4 groups waiting. Not too bad, I thought. While waiting, they handed me the menu and took our orders. Everyone in line was foreigners. It's amazing how they find this underground place in a building. I ordered the "Recommended by the Restaurant" dish, the "Half & Half Katsu Set (250g fillet katsu & loin katsu) for 2,000 yen tax included." The order was written on a small whiteboard with a marker. It seems like everyone orders this "Half" set. After about 10 minutes, we were seated at the counter. The restaurant has about 5 counter seats and two 4-seater tables (couldn't see clearly at the back), quite compact. There was a poster of "Hayashi SPF" on the wall. Hayashi SPF pork is delicious. You could hear orders for takeout coming in over the phone. After a 15-minute wait, the tonkatsu arrived. The thick piece on the right in the photo was the fillet katsu, and the flatter one (still quite thick) was the loin katsu. The 250g portion was huge. It was too much for me, a light eater. Next time, I'll go for the 170g fillet katsu set or the 200g loin katsu set. Taste-wise, it was delicious as expected. Tender and incredibly thick. There were various types of salt on the table, and the meat itself was so tasty that even just with salt, it was delicious. The miso soup also had lots of meat in it, but I was already full. It was just an incredible portion. When leaving the restaurant around 12:30, there was a long queue of about 15 groups. I was lucky to have lined up a bit early for lunch. Ah, it was so delicious! Thank you for the meal.

After waiting for about an hour, I noticed that the line was mostly made up of Asian foreigners, possibly Korean or Taiwanese. I wondered if this restaurant is highly rated in guidebooks or apps popular in their home countries. I overheard Korean and Chinese conversations from the line behind me. I tried the pork loin set meal for the first time in a while, and it was delicious. The combination of tonkatsu sauce and pork loin was excellent, and I ended up eating half of the tonkatsu with the sauce, even though I usually only eat it with salt. It reminded me of the days when I used to wait in line at the original store when I was younger, and I mistakenly thought I could still handle it, eating quickly. The rice and miso soup were just as delicious as before. I couldn't help but think that it would be better if there weren't so many people lining up and if there weren't so many foreigners, but I realized that was just my ego speaking. I felt sorry for visiting and enjoying local delicious restaurants in foreign countries, just like these foreigners were doing here. Nonetheless, it was still a restaurant where foreigners stood out oddly.

First visit. Located underground, in a secluded spot... The cozy interior had a counter, a few tables in the back, and maybe even private rooms? Now, the tonkatsu here is a luxury you don't come across every day... Made with domestic brand Hayashi pork... I had it with wasabi and sauce, and it had a delicate, pleasant texture with a subtle aroma of the ingredients... What made it even more delicious was grinding various types of rock salt with a mill and sprinkling it on top, enhancing the flavor of the ingredients and doubling the umami. The bill came to 2,000 yen including tax. Thank you for the meal!

I was planning to go to another restaurant nearby, but then I thought maybe there would be a line... So I decided to go downstairs and luckily found an empty counter seat. I ordered the special loin cutlet 300g. Isn't this one of the most delicious pork cutlets in Tokyo Tonkatsu? The daikon radish in the miso soup also has a wonderful texture. I plan to challenge the shoulder loin next time.

I revisited the Ginza store after a long time. It was a little past 1 pm on Thursday, so there were only 5 people waiting in line, which is fewer than usual. We waited for 30 minutes and then entered the restaurant. About 5 minutes after being seated, the "Lunch Roast Set Meal" that we ordered while waiting arrived. We sat at a table for 4 with seasonings laid out in the middle and a partition, and next to us were a young European couple. I saw the woman return the salt she was using to the middle so that we could easily reach it, and I immediately said, "Thank you, haha," and exchanged a simple international interaction before digging in. The taste was as stable as ever. I savored the thick roast with rich meat juices overflowing. The gentle yet well-seasoned miso soup that soothes the heart was as usual, but what felt a bit different this time was the male waiter in his 20s. He had a light-hearted demeanor, which felt quite different from the usual atmosphere of the restaurant. Nevertheless, it still remains a place I would like to visit again. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Visited on September 12, 2023. Located a 5-minute walk from Ginza Station, no reservation needed but had to wait for 30 minutes. I dined alone and spent 2400 yen per person. Ordered the special loin katsu set (300g) with extra rice and stem wasabi. This tonkatsu restaurant is located in Ginza, a 5-minute walk from Exit A2 of Tokyo Metro Ginza Station, and also accessible from Shimbashi Station. The restaurant is on the basement floor of the 3rd Soirée de Beaubourg. It opened on March 26, 2018, with its main branch in Kamata and other branches in Keikyu Kamata, Daimon, Asakusabashi, Nihonbashi, Haneda Airport, and Yokohama Bashamichi. Closed on Sundays and Mondays. Operating hours are weekdays from 11:00 to 15:00 and 17:00 to 21:00, and Saturdays from 11:00 to 15:00 and 17:00 to 20:00. They offer a great lunch deal on weekdays. Sets come with rice, miso soup, and pickles, with free cabbage refill. No reservations accepted. The restaurant has 5 counter seats and 10 table seats, totaling 15 seats, with no private rooms. They do not accept credit cards or electronic money but do accept PayPay. There is no dedicated parking but a coin parking lot nearby. Takeout is available.

I went around 11:30 today because there is always a line at lunchtime. It was already full, but I was able to get in quickly because someone had already finished their meal. The crispy batter and tender, juicy meat were a perfect match and delicious. The miso soup had plenty of ingredients and a rich flavor. By the time I left, there was a long line, so it seems better to go before 12 o'clock after all.

Located near Shinbashi in Ginza 8-chome. If you descend into the basement of an old building filled with a Showa-era atmosphere, you will immediately encounter a recognizable line. Due to the seating arrangement, it seems that the wait time gets longer when groups arrive, but for 1 to 2 people, the wait was about 15 minutes with around 5 groups ahead. They take your order while you wait in line, so your food will be served shortly after being seated. The lunch set of rosukatsu (pork cutlet) is priced at ¥1300 (tax included) and is slightly on the smaller side. While the edges have a lot of fat, the freshly fried cutlet melts in your mouth. They use SPF pork, which may be why the meat is tender. There are four types of salt on the table, and after trying each one, I found the one from Okinawa to be my favorite. The sauce is poured over shredded cabbage, serving as a dressing. The miso soup also has large chunks of meat along with burdock and daikon, making it a hearty dish. There were many foreigners, probably due to the location. They accept credit cards.

Pork loin cutlet for 1,700 yen. Waited for about 20 minutes from halfway up the stairs? The fat is delicious. The meat is juicy but not too much. Overall, it's delicious. It seems that the pork shoulder has marbling throughout. I want to try the pork shoulder next time.

The pork cutlet set meal is 1400 yen on weekday evenings. Because of its thickness, it offers great value for money. The taste is quite fatty, with a good amount of fat, and the meat is tender and easy to chew. The fat can be a bit difficult to chew. The meat is refreshing with no unpleasant odor, and it is well-prepared. The taste is average. The coating is crispy and well-fried. The miso soup that comes with the set meal is delicious without being overcooked, with small pieces of pork in it. In addition to the sauce, there are three or more types of salt available, making the rice and cabbage very enjoyable. There are 5 counter seats, which are a bit narrow, and there are also table seats in the back. I entered around 5:20 pm and there was no wait, but by around 6 pm, there were about 10 people in line. Most of them seemed to be Korean. By the way, the person sitting next to me at the counter at first was a blond foreigner dining alone, followed by a Korean couple. Next time, I plan to try the fillet cutlet!

I had the Hire Katsu set meal (200g) for 1,700 yen. It was cheap and delicious. The miso soup was also tasty. By the way, I think the weekday lunch limited Hire Katsu set meal (170g) for 1,300 yen is the number one high cost-performance tonkatsu in Ginza.

Tonkatsu Tonkatsu Ogin, Ginza branch was quite challenging to visit. It is a rare tonkatsu restaurant located underground. Difficulties in visiting include long queues, narrow waiting area with thin oxygen, and extreme heat making you feel lightheaded. Impressions from visitors show that over 60% are foreigners. After enduring the battle with the heat, you enter the underground room with space for about 15 people. I ordered the loin cutlet with an additional wasabi sauce for just under 2000 yen. First, I judged the deliciousness of the tonkatsu by trying it with salt. It passed the test here. It was interesting to see various types of salt available. The meat was tender, fatty, and delicious. It was also quite large. They offer various cuts like shoulder loin, so I'd like to try something different next time. The wasabi sauce gives a sharp kick, but it's good to eat it lightly. It's definitely something you should try. This restaurant is where you can taste delicious tonkatsu after enduring the trials of the underground. (It might be best to visit right after opening.) Thank you for the meal today.

Arrived at 10:57. Joined the queue at the 1st floor staircase leading to the underground restaurant. Managed to get in on the first round, went down to the basement 1FB floor of the restaurant, but since I was behind a group of 4-5 Korean people and a Chinese duo, it seems like it's going to be a long wait from here. Sweating profusely, sweat dripping down. Even the families behind me waiting patiently, dealing with a child throwing a tantrum, probably can't be helped. Must be tough. Entered at 11:54. Still, the wait was worth it. Managed to get in without waiting for 60 minutes, so was it just in time? The staff took orders while we were in line, so we sat at the counter and got served promptly. Ate fillet, sirloin, and cabbage with salt, soy sauce, sauce, and lemon. As expected, got a refill of rice. Finished everything and was very satisfied. Half & Half (sirloin and fillet, 250g) set meal for 2,000 yen, rice refill for 200 yen, total 2,200 yen including tax. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. Will visit again.

The "Half & Half" set meal for 2000 yen at Tonkatsu Daimon is quite popular, perhaps due to its location near Ginza attracting many foreigners, leading to the longest queues. I visited around 1 pm on a weekday with only about 10 people ahead of me, so the wait was around 40 minutes. The pork cutlets are lean and easy to eat, appealing to a wide range of tastes. What's more, for just 2000 yen, you can enjoy both loin and fillet cuts, while on weekdays the loin alone is priced at 1300 yen, making it a great value compared to other famous tonkatsu restaurants.

【2022 Tonkatsu Hyakumeiten】Located about a 4-minute walk from Shinbashi Station. While you can also walk from Ginza Station since it's in Ginza 8-chome, Shinbashi might be closer. It's the renowned tonkatsu restaurant "Tonkatsu Maisen" in Ginza. Enjoy thick, tender, and crispy tonkatsu with a choice of several types of salt... Consistently delicious tonkatsu dishes✨ I arrived on a weekday at 11:45 and there was a line of about 8 people. I waited for about 30 minutes until I could enter. The line kept going even after that, so be prepared to wait in line before entering.※Since you line up in the building's corridor, be careful of dehydration in the summer!! On this day, I ordered the following: [Jourosu Katsu Teishoku 1700 yen] [Stem Wasabi 100 yen] Truly delicious tonkatsu!! The jourosu has a modest amount of fat, thick, tender, and meaty✨ The subtle fat is also sweet and refreshing. I added [Stem Wasabi] this time! It's a strong wasabi on its own. Whether with salt + wasabi, soy sauce + wasabi, or just wasabi... it's a magical flavor-changing item that makes the taste even more refreshing. A reliable tonkatsu restaurant!! Thank you for the meal✨

We arrived at 5:30 pm on a weekday and even foreigners were lining up. We entered the restaurant for the second round and took a seat at a table. I ordered the special loin cutlet set meal (with extra rice). The 300g loin cutlet was satisfying, with a sweet fatty flavor. I first enjoyed half of it with salt, and the remaining half with sauce. There are several types of salt on the table worth trying out - taste each one to find your favorite. The tonkatsu is fried firmly. The restaurant is larger than the Kamata main store, but smaller than the Asakusabashi store. Despite its small size, the restaurant is always crowded.

Tonkatsu Aoki Ginza Store
Location: 6 minutes walk from Shinbashi Station
Budget: ¥1,400 and up
Aoki, a renowned tonkatsu restaurant with branches in Kamata and Daimon, is now in Ginza. Multiple branches are listed in the top 100 tonkatsu restaurants on Tabelog and are all very popular. There's always a line. I've visited several Aoki branches, but the first one I went to was this one. I remember being shocked at how delicious the tonkatsu was. I visited around 17:30 on a weekday. It was almost full, but luckily there was one empty seat and I got in without waiting. However, by the time I finished eating and left around 18:00, there were about 10 people waiting in line, so you may have to wait in line most of the time.
Here are the dishes we tried:
[Menu]
Half & Half Katsu Set (Fillet Katsu & Loin Katsu)
I usually order the premium loin set at Aoki, but this time I went for the Half & Half to enjoy both fillet and loin. The tonkatsu, lightly pink in the center, was surprisingly tender and when you bite into it, the sweet pork fat spreads throughout your mouth. I usually love sauce, but here I tend to eat mostly with salt. The meat itself is juicy, tender, and truly delicious. The brand of pork used is Hayashi SPF. The cut is thick with a slightly rare center. There are 3 types of salt, including fleur de sel. Fleur de sel, in particular, has a unique flavor that becomes addictive. I love Aoki's tonkatsu and will continue to visit. Thank you for the meal! ✨

I had some business in Ginza and went to "Tonkatsu Aoi," a restaurant registered in the Michelin guide. I visited during lunchtime, but there was a line of about 10 people, so I had to give up as the movie "SLAM DUNK" was starting soon. The restaurant is located underground and a bit hard to find. There was no sign on the main road (maybe I just missed it!?). I revisited at 5 p.m. after the movie, as this restaurant has a lunch and dinner service. This time, even with a wait of 4 people, we were seated in about 30 minutes. I ordered the "Premium Loin Cutlet Set," which came with miso soup, rice, cabbage, pickles, and a typical pork cutlet. One thing to note is that while most tonkatsu restaurants offer free refills of rice, miso soup, and cabbage, at this place, refills of rice and miso soup will incur an additional charge, so be careful. Now for my impressions: the miso soup had large pieces of ingredients and was delicious, the pork cutlet was tasty, and the meat was particularly well-fried. However, perhaps it was just bad luck, but there was one piece of meat that was too tough to chew (^-^;)

I went to "Tonkatsu Ogin Ginza Store" just before closing time at night. More than half of the customers waiting in line were from overseas. Is tonkatsu popular overseas? While waiting in line, I ordered the premium loin cutlet. After about 30 minutes, the loin cutlet arrived shortly after entering the store! First, I tried it with salt. I think the most delicious tonkatsu is with salt, not sauce. The sweetness of the fat really stands out! Considering the location in Ginza, the cost performance is quite good! There are also many types of salt, so be sure to give them a try!

Visited around 1:30 pm on a holiday. About 13 people waiting. Ordered the half & half for 2000 yen. Waited for about 15 minutes, and as the only person, I was called first. Sat down and the food was served shortly after. It seems like it was prepared in advance. However, it wasn't cold, so I think they timed it well. The taste was average. There are various types of salt for flavor variations, but the tonkatsu was just okay... The meat felt tender. Considering the wait time, it might be just okay.
