I almost forgot to finish with the Sanuki udon in Kagawa! So, I'll quickly eat the udon and head home. I was planning to get the udon with kashiwa tempura, but... it was sold out! This time, I ordered Kitsune udon with Shiitake tempura. The aroma of Shiitake is irresistible. The gentle dashi broth with a Kansai-style touch, accented by the aroma of Shiitake. The Kitsune udon is gentle, but the udon itself has a firm texture, very authentic.

I always try my best not to give in to temptation, but avoiding the soba and udon at the station is impossible. I must have the kake small with lotus root tempura! Lotus root tempura is a must. If they are out of lotus root tempura at Marugame Seimen, I feel like I might go crazy (laughs). The slightly fluffy Sanuki udon is the best!

During a transfer, I passed by this restaurant and decided to go in. I ordered a cold soba with conger eel and lotus root tempura. I was happy to see conger eel on the menu. The conger eel was thick and well-prepared, but lacked a juicy texture. They provided dashi soy sauce at the table. The soba had a good chewiness and the broth was slightly salty. I plan to try the kama-tama next time.

While commuting, I suddenly felt extremely hungry and got off halfway. I hadn't done any research, so I wondered if there was anything to eat... and I found udon! I ordered cold udon with a small side of fish cake tempura. They had ginger available, but no tempura flakes. Oh, it was delicious. I love lots of ginger, so this was perfect for me. The portion size was just right for breakfast! I'll remember this place as a breakfast spot.

After work around 9:30 pm, I transferred at Ueno Station and saw a Sanuki udon shop. I decided to stop by and have a meal. I ordered the beef bukkake udon, which had plenty of meat and grated radish. The meat was sweet and the udon had a nice chewy texture typical of Sanuki udon. Considering the price, I wouldn't mind coming back again. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

On a holiday night, I visited the chain store of Corporation Meriken-ya located between platforms 6 and 7 on the second floor to the left of the central ticket gate at JR Ueno Station. The kake udon (udon noodles in broth) costs 400 yen including tax and features thick and chewy noodles with a clear golden broth made from bonito, sardines, and kelp for a gentle flavor. The hamo tempura (pike conger tempura) costs 150 yen including tax and has a soft inside and crispy outside texture. The size is small, but it's nice to be able to enjoy seasonal ingredients. Thank you for the meal.

JR Ueno Station. There is a Sanuki udon shop on the concourse (second floor) connecting the local line and central ticket gate. In addition to standing counters, there are table seats and counter seats with chairs. Remembering the impact I had in Kagawa Prefecture, I ordered the "Beef Bukkake Cold Small (580 yen tax included)." First, I was surprised by the amount of beef. The sweetly simmered beef goes well with the shichimi togarashi on the table. The cold, firm udon in a small size was a sufficient amount. It was refreshing with grated daikon. I was curious about the limited-time "Seto Inland Sea Fair" using "hamo tempura" and "sudachi." I wonder if there's a quick eatery inside Ueno Station... Oh, there's an udon shop! When I entered, there was tempura lined up. I had the seaweed tempura on top of noodles for 460 yen. Oh, wait, it's standing eating! First time! I quickly ate and headed to work! Thank you for the meal ♡

I was planning to eat the Kama-tama udon, but then I noticed the udon tasting set, so I decided to try both the kake and bukkake udon! The texture was indeed different and interesting, and both were delicious. Unfortunately, they didn't have the burdock tempura today, which was a bit disappointing as I really enjoyed it last time. But the red ginger tempura was still delicious as always, and of course, the udon and inari sushi were tasty too, so I'm satisfied!

Visited the authentic Sanuki udon restaurant "Oyaji no Seimenjo" for the first time. The Ueno branch is located in the JR Ueno station Ekimachi central transfer passage. I remembered that I hadn't eaten breakfast and decided to stop by. I added squid tempura and inari sushi to my bukkake hot udon. The noodles had a good firmness typical of Sanuki udon. I felt that it was one of the top-class standing udon shops. It was very delicious and reasonably priced. I would like to visit again. June 3, 2023, Taito-ku, Tokyo.

I found a delicious Sanuki udon shop inside the station and decided to try it. The cold bukkake udon for 360 yen was cheap. The noodles had a good texture and were deliciously smooth, and the broth had a rich sweetness that I like. I wonder if they had grated daikon radish as a topping? I was very satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

On Sunday, I found this place while walking through Ueno Station during a transfer and decided to go in. I ordered the small kitsune udon for ¥380, which I was happy to see they had a small size available. The restaurant operates like Marugame Seimen, and I had to resist the temptation of the fried food section on my way to pay. This time, I managed to resist. The udon was advertised as Sanuki udon, so the broth was clear. The udon itself was slightly chewy. It was just a normal, but tasty bowl of udon. Thank you for the meal.

In Ueno Station, there is no specific peak time, but you can eat comfortably. Personally, I find it very convenient. I had the following dishes: Medium-sized meat udon for 820 yen, squid, chicken, and chikuwa for a total of 1160 yen. The meat udon was quite generous in portion. It would have been even better if the tempura was warm. This meal was for a business trip dinner on the last day of Golden Week. Thank you for the feast.

I knew about this shop inside JR Ueno Station's ticket gates, but it was my first time visiting. You order by sliding a tray and pay at the end. I had the cold noodles (regular) for 400 yen and a tempura for 160 yen. However, because it was during Golden Week, the shop was crowded with customers carrying large bags, making it a bit chaotic. The udon noodles were pre-cooked and a bit overcooked, so it was hard to say they were authentic Sanuki udon. The tempura was also not fresh, which was disappointing.

Fox udon regular 500 yen + asparagus tempura 220 yen + seaweed tempura 100 yen + bamboo shoot tempura 180 yen. Udon noodles have a normal thickness and taste. The broth is a clear soup base, decent overall. The fried tofu topping is on the larger side with a standard thickness commonly seen in Kanto. It was okay, nothing special. The asparagus tempura was thick and soft, similar in taste and price to what you would find in Kagawa. Pretty good. The seaweed tempura had a crunchy texture with a strong fried oil flavor, not much seaweed taste. It's similar to a snack-like fried squid. The bamboo shoot tempura was medium-sized and tender, surprisingly tasty. I arrived on a Sunday at 7:50 am, the seating was about 30% full. I came here after seeing it on Twitter. Toppings are self-serve, with only pickled ginger available. I'm somewhat satisfied, but the taste and price are just average. It's not worth a special trip, but I might come back if it's nearby. Convenient for transit passengers as it's inside the ticket gate.

On Sunday, before noon, I had some time during a transfer at Ueno Station, so I decided to dine at this udon restaurant inside the ticket gate! Although I usually eat udon, I was in the mood for rice and also wanted to avoid getting my clothes dirty with udon soup, so I ordered the Pork Cutlet Curry (large serving) for 800 yen! Since it's a udon restaurant in the station, the service was quick. The pork cutlet was thin and the curry was average. It was raining that day, so being able to eat quickly without getting wet was the reason I chose this restaurant, so that was good. I will use this place again when I have a short break or limited time during a transfer. Thank you for the meal.

In the udon shop inside the station (past the ticket gate), I recently discovered a favorite spot. The udon noodles are smooth and chewy, and delicious with a topping of olive leaf tempura. They offer a variety of tempura toppings such as kake (plain), asparagus tempura, chikuwa tempura, chicken thigh tempura, lotus root tempura, pickled ginger tempura, and squid tempura. They also provide complimentary sesame seeds, green onions, ginger, and shichimi pepper. The broth is clear but full of flavor, with just the right amount of saltiness. I enjoyed it so much that I finished every drop. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I had always been curious about the udon restaurant inside Ueno Station. Today, I took the opportunity to go there. Inside the restaurant, it was set up like a self-service udon chain, where you pick your tempura, order your udon, and pay. This time, I had takenoko (bamboo shoots), chikuwa (fish cake), isobe (seaweed) tempura, red ginger, chicken tempura, wiener sausage, asparagus tempura, kama-tama udon (udon with raw egg), beef bukkake (udon with beef), and an empty seat. I was surprised when I tasted it! It was delicious!! The udon had a good texture and the broth was subtly sweet ❤️ Each tempura was also delicious. Why didn't I come here sooner?! I will definitely go back again!!

I was intrigued by the poster of asparagus tempura at the udon shop in the station, so I decided to go in. I ordered a regular size udon with 3 pieces of tempura, which ended up being more expensive than I expected. I wanted to get only 2 pieces of tempura, but I also wanted to try the chicken tempura, so I ended up being greedy. The shop has both standing and seated tables, which is nice depending on your preference. I chose to stand and eat! The udon was a bit soft, but the soup had a nice dashi flavor. The tempura was also delicious! The service was quick, so it's perfect for a quick meal. Thank you for the meal!

I enjoyed eating udon slowly at Ueno Station, where there seemed to be more people than usual because the trains were stopped. I usually prefer soba, but tonight I ordered "Cold Beef Bukkake Udon & Chicken Thigh Tempura" at a udon restaurant in the station. The beef was simmered in a sweet and salty sauce, and the bukkake broth was refreshing and balanced. The chicken thigh tempura was crispy and delicious, especially when dipped in the broth. I ate quickly and caught the train back home!
