I was lured by the delicious smell of curry and went to a curry restaurant called "Minoringo," just a 2-minute walk from Harajuku Station Takeshita Exit. At first, I thought I had to buy a meal ticket in front of the shop, but it turned out to be a curry vending machine. There are 11 counter seats and 2 table seats. I ordered the ⭐️ Keema Curry, medium spicy, for 1,000 yen. It was made with slightly larger minced beef and pork. Each piece of meat was packed with the sweetness and richness of onions, the subtle aroma of spices, and the addictive spiciness that gradually creeps up after the umami taste. There was also an egg on top, and mixing it made the taste even milder. Minoringo's curry is carefully made by adjusting the spices, vegetables, and fruits to match the main ingredients (mostly meat). The caramelized onions (cooked until they turn caramel in color) are prepared differently for each curry, taking over 2 hours to slowly sauté and bring out the umami and richness. The curry is rich but not heavy as it uses minimal oil from each meat to enhance the aroma of spices and is a healthy curry that is not greasy. Additionally, no commercially available roux or curry powder is used, so children and many others can enjoy it with peace of mind.

I tried it, but I still love Japanese-style curry. Japanese-style curry has quite different characteristics from Indian and other South Asian curries. It is relatively sweet with a creamy flavor, and the spiciness is mild. This aspect is likely to be appealing to many Japanese people. The main ingredients typically include meat (especially pork or chicken), potatoes, carrots, onions, and so on. These ingredients are often well stewed to become soft. Even during lunchtime, there are usually a lot of people waiting in line.

I passed by the restaurant around 11:15 on Tuesday afternoon, and it was open with no customers yet. Despite being a popular spot, I had to go in. I decided to try their specialty dish, the Cheese Keema. It arrived quickly and looked amazing. The cheese was gooey and blended well. The curry was truly medium spicy, with a good balance of various spices that gave it a refined taste. The aroma of the red pepper when you bite into it is delightful. Mixing in the egg adds a mildness to it. It's nice that you can adjust the spiciness with the red pepper on the table. It was very delicious. Thank you for the meal. Thank you♪

This is a curry restaurant located less than a 10-minute walk from Harajuku Station. I arrived slightly before the 11:30 am opening time, and there were about 5 customers already there. The interior has only a counter. I ordered the most popular Keema Cheese Curry. The first thing I noticed was how good it looked! At first glance, it might not look like curry, but underneath there is Keema curry with an egg. The Keema curry was said to be medium spicy, but for someone like me who isn't good with spicy food, it was spicy enough. However, the spiciness was addictive, and combined with the cheese, it was filling, but I finished it in no time.

I arrived at the restaurant 15 minutes after opening on the weekend, and there were 4 customers already seated with plenty of available seats. I ordered the Minoringo Special with a friend and we got the Chicken Curry with extra rice and cheese topping. The curry portion was generous, so they managed the rice portion well. The Keema Curry was medium-spicy with a complex blend of spices. Mixing in the soft-boiled egg made it milder, but I personally felt it dulled the flavors so it could do without. The Chicken Curry also had a unique blend of spices. I usually don't like curries with chunky potatoes at home, so I prefer eating curry outside, but this curry seemed to have the spices I don't like. As a side note, it seems that first-timers cannot order the extremely spicy Beef Curry. By the time we left, the restaurant was fully packed.

There is almost no restaurant in the Harajuku and Omotesando area where you can have a quick lunch that is both tasty and affordable. However, I decided to visit this place because it had good reviews. It's a curry restaurant called "Minoringo." The location is about 150 meters to the left after exiting Harajuku Station Takeshita Exit. Next to it, there is a shop selling brightly colored cakes and drinks, similar to a fluffy shop for humans. At the entrance of the shop, there is a vending machine filled with their curry, allowing for easy takeout purchases. We arrived around 12:30 pm and were able to find seats smoothly. It quickly became full, with about 10 people lining up in the scorching heat, so once again, I activated my lucky streak. The setup is reminiscent of a ramen shop, with both counter and table seating. There is an unspoken rule to raise your dishes after eating. The shop is run by a quiet owner and a young girl, possibly family. Upon entering, the girl immediately asked us to disinfect our hands with alcohol, which made us chuckle at the absurdity. The menu consists of roughly 7 items. I chose the popular Cheese Keema Curry, while my companion opted for the Spicy Pork Curry with Jalapeno topping. The dishes arrived in less than 5 minutes. The Cheese covered the Keema and rice so much that they were almost invisible. Trying to scoop it with a spoon was challenging due to the cheese's excessive elasticity, and biting into it felt cheap and squeaky. However, considering the price range and the amount used, it was understandable. The Keema had a taste that clearly conveyed the owner's commitment to natural ingredients, with a complex mix of spices that offered a premium flavor contrary to its appearance. It was delicious, but a normal Keema with a soft-boiled egg might be better. The Pork Curry had a spicy kick and a hint of fruit acidity. The generous amount of spare ribs for 1000 yen was a commendable effort. It was more on the watery side, unlike the European-style appearance in the photo, which I preferred. They are open all day, making it a great recommendation for lunch seekers. Thank you for the meal.

Cheese Keema Curry for 1300 yen was generously covered with plenty of cheese that stretched quite a bit. The cheese had a mild taste, and the Keema curry had a slightly spicy kick, but didn't have any particularly distinctive flavors. It was a restaurant known for its Instagrammable feature of abundant cheese that stretches, but the taste was not remarkable.

A few minutes' walk from JR Harajuku Station Takeshita Exit. This curry restaurant is one of the top 100, and this was my second or third visit. I went around 1 pm on a Saturday in August and was seated right away with no wait. I remember lining up when I came in the fall, but maybe people aren't in the mood for curry in the summer...? I wanted to try the Cheese Keema Curry (1300 yen), but this place is cash only and I only had just enough cash in my wallet, so I ended up ordering the Keema Curry this time. As always, it was delicious! (But I still want to try the Cheese Keema next time...) It was so good that I finished it quickly. The background music in the restaurant related to curry is also a fun touch.

A favorite place of mine since I lived nearby until spring. Last time I tried the beef, so this time I went for the keema cheese. Spicy keema with cheese and a soft-boiled egg. I don't think there are many people who dislike this combination, it's kind of a cliché junky flavor, but... I keep spooning it in. Next up, maybe I'll try the chicken.

The draft beer poured by a new staff member was criticized by the owner for having too little foam, but it was served to me as it was. When paying the bill, there was no response from the owner, which made me feel disappointed.

Keema Curry (medium spicy) for 1,000 yen (tax included). This might have been my first time trying Keema Curry outside. It was delicious. I really felt the sweetness of the onions. It was labeled as medium spicy, but it was totally fine, or rather, not spicy enough. Maybe my taste buds are craving more excitement lately.

Visited on a weekday at 1:30 PM. Managed to enter without waiting in line. Ordered the Keema Cheese Curry as the Tomato Keema Cheese Curry, which is a limited quantity item, was sold out. The Keema Curry had a rich cheese, soft-boiled egg, and a good mix of spices and herbs. However, the cheese became hard and difficult to eat as time passed, and its strong presence seemed to overshadow the flavor of the Keema. Next time, I'll try the simple Keema Curry instead.

This was my first time here, so I decided to be a bit greedy and ordered the curry set with two types of curry. The chicken curry had a refreshing sourness to it, while the keema curry was a spicy curry topped with a stretchy cheese. I also added a hot spring egg to the cheese special. I opted for the set with salad and a drink. I am very satisfied and will return.
